she wasnt too bad, i didnt mind her.

I had a great experience with her. She was extremely helpful and very positive. Her lectures were to help prepare you for the speech you needed to give. I did not think she talked to hear her own voice. I took the class with her because, friends told me she was very good, and I found that to be true

Very demanding teacher, but fair. She knows her stuff, and her grading system could not be any more fair. She gives out a sheet that shows areas where you can improve your technique and if you want a higher grade you can do over the speech. Just do your speech on the day it assigned (pet peeve!!)

it seems that everyone else is enjoying their speech class because they dont have barbara baron as a teacher. shes helpful, but by that point ur speech has already been graded. stay away from this professor.

other people on this board seemed not to have liked her but i found my class enjoyable....she was a harder grader than most teachers but offered enough extra credit to help your grade

Prof Baron was very tough, but I learned a ton. I took her on line class and she helped to organize a group to come to school so that we had our audience of 8. I got an A and worked very hard but she was fair.

You won't fall asleep in this class because she's never boring. She's good at public speaking and time goes by pretty quickly. Gives out second chances for crappy speeches. Has some hilarious stories.

idk why everyone says shes a hard grader and shes a terrible professor. she's nowhere near that. i have her in 115 right now and its pretty easy. u get a couple of easy 2-second quizzes like every other week and the speeches as are easy, its not like u have to write out a whole speech, just an outline, do the speech and ur done. its an easy class.

Just had this class in Fall, 09 and am surprised at what I am reading here. She helped me more than any other. Nearly everyone passed with high grades.. she cracked us up!

I am a foreign student. This was the best class I have had in the US. She helped me every step of the way, and I was terrified.

In that class now - Spring 2010 -- She helps me all the time, and I expect to get an A -- Do your work, and make deadlines and you will get an A!

This class was not easy, beware of this. With that being said, I should tell you all that if you are fulfilling your requirements and still have a difficult time, you should re-think the questions you ask her. I found asking "the right questions" were the key. She WILL NOT turn her back on you as long as you show effort.

(continued) Choose your topics carefully, do the research and allow her to teach....You might enjoy this class. You might even find out about the little hottie on the other side of the room, if you pay attention.

Just finished this class. Professor Baron was so cool with us -- we finished a week early! Everyone passed and it was the best class ever!

No one likes Public Speaking but Barbara Baron makes it fun! From her wild stories about old students to her current life as a Jazz singer there's never a dull moment in her class. She's very helpful outside of the classroom and will really guide you through speeches. She allows you to miss class if you make it up another day.

Baron was awesome - gave great advice, helped wherever she could, made class interesting, and had the best stories! You need to do the homework, take the notes, and follow her instructions - she gives you the same respect you give her.

extremely hard class. make sure to stay on top of the work and watch your attendance. porf baron was very nice person just a no-nonsense kind of teacher.

Show up to class on time, do your work, and you will learn how to be a public speaker and get an A. This was the most important class I ever took in my life and glad I had such a great teacher. I highly recommend her and thank her for the extra help she gave me when had an issue with one of the speeches

You need to do the outlines and speeches the way they're assigned in order to get a good grade. She'll help you but you won't be spoon fed. How good your speech is means nothing if you don't use the format. She's a good teacher and you'll learn a good public speaking style. If you don't do your work she'll put you on the spot about it in public.

So your word and your fine. She helped me every week after class and I know I am getting an A..

I thought this was an easy A. Two speeches with a works cited page, a demonstration and 7 quizzes and she only counted the 5 highest if you missed some. No Brainer

This class was great -- More than half of us are getting A's . Just do the work, and you will be fine.. 4 weeks to pull together a 5-7 minute speech Really ? got that, and an A!

I must say she wasn't the easiest teacher I've had however, she is a great instructor. She is a good person deep down and helped me so much but I wouldn't recommend her. She is very stand offish and can be extremely rude. Her attitude would really piss me off but If your gonna take her have fun with her. If u don't do things her way u won't make it

She's tough, no doubt about it. But, she gives you chances to do better on things you didn't do well on. She's also fairly impatient - she's generally pretty busy, and her students sometimes pay for that. Overall -- I learned a lot, and benefitted from the class. She's a great instructor. She'll help you grow.

Ms. Baron was in my opinion extremely rude and would interrupt you mid speech. I got pretty good grades in this class for the most part but it was not easy to do so. Shes not always clear what she wants and will make you re-do speeches and outlines.

Loved this class! Easy A for me -- work on her schedule and you will be fine. Never too much work in one week!

Loved this class. Funny stories, and she was always ready and willing to help. Go to class and do the work, and you can get an A. She lets you go to any class she teaches if you have to miss, And, she reminds us of upcoming assignments every week in a text

I thought this class was easy. I could have finished it in half the time. Prof. Baron gives quick feedback, and she will help you anytime.. just ask. Easy A for me.

This class was super easy! 3 major speeches, and some two minute ones. Work on time, and you'll be fine

Took this in Summer and Professor Baron was very laid back. Small class - nearly everyone got an A -- Those who were late maybe not

Online class i think it was easy,she's helpful and caring. If you plan to take her class just make you have 8 people to be able to be in your presentation. Other then that class is easy.

Easy A

During Covid#19 we still had class every week, got immediate feedback and got it done - most teachers gave written assignments and we never saw em. We met every week in Zoom. GREAT class

I was always that person who was so nervous and anxious about giving speeches until I took her class. Professor Baron really cares & wants her students to do well. This wasnt an easy A, I had to work for it. Her grading criteria was very clear though. I would rate her 10/10 especially during COVID-19, she made zoom classes enjoyable & interactive!

I stay after class every week and Professor Baron never hurries me. I would have failed if she didn't work with me one on one

I hate public speaking. Barbara knows how much, and she helped me every week. Called me when I missed class and talked me into going back.

I can't believe how quickly Professor B responds. She will work with you anytime. I put off taking this class until my last semester, and I am so glad I took it with her.

I lost all interest in the end. Instead of giving me an F - Professor Barbara called me at home and worked with me so I could finish up and get a B that will transfer. I couldn't believe it...

I hate public speaking - but this Professor works with me every week to get past it. There are a lot of assignments but you have 7 days to complete them

I hate public speaking. This professor made me practice, and as much as I hated it - I can speak well now. She helped me prep for a major interview and met with me whenever I needed her.

I am an International Student- Professor Barbara worked me me and anyone that needed it every week after class to help me to understand. I wish she had other classes to take

This class was so easy - 4 weeks to prepare our 7 minute speeches and we do most of it in class -- Hate the readings but love the class

This is my favorite class at Brookdale! Our class students help eachother and we care about one another. This is not easy - but it is fun - I am an International student and was terrified to take it, but the Professor cares and makes it ok for all of us to get good grades I think I will get an A!

This class is so easy -- we have weeks to get reading for a 7 minute speech -- I did more work in Middle School - Stay after and let her know you... Super easy

I am in the Navy Reserves - I had to miss two weeks, and Professor Baron taught me one on one and made sure I could pass! I could not be happier with this class.

I just finished the online class for Speech 115. So easy - you have to record your rehearsals which is a pain -- but the class was easy to complete - I was terrified - but got an A!

I thought this class was so easy. So many in class came in which Professor Baron did not like and had to repeat so much of the lectures again. She has an attendance policy and I wish she would use it. For those of us who come in on time... it is super annoying to hear the work twice

I took this online which is tough since you have to get your own audience - That stinks -- But the class was easy - deadlines every week and you have to practice and submit practice runs ahead of time. I hated doing it - but my speeches were all graded A -- got an A- cause I missed assignments. The professor let me redo a speech for a higher grade

I took this class in Spring 2025. I was terrified and put this class off i needed it to graduate. The professor was not easy, but she met with me every week, and really cared. I was going to drop and she talked me into staying. I got an B+ and I am glad. I never thought I would get through.

I love this class - a few of us stay after every week and she never rushes us out. She will call you if you miss and help you to catch up.
