Excellent lecturer, fair grader, great advisor
She is actually very fair and overall a good professor
incredible prrof.- extremely knowledgable and really enjoys what she teaches
Best teacher i've had so far at Pace.may be hard, yet fair but youll learn A LOT.
talks a lot and very slowly, but you learn a lot
made us read the grapes of wrath. ugh. good prof though. :)
very nice. Explained things so you could understand them. Made history fun
hard grader
Fair Grader, Informative, Knowledgable
Kinda boring and always has a fake smile on her face.
Great teacher and dedicated to education.

Bombshell...
She's evil!!!!!
BORING, makes you read alot,
sweet, boring but she loves what she teaches don't fall asleep and you'll learn
have never enjoyed lectures on history so much as in her class. great teacher

really liked her class. very fair. nice lady
Tough grader, looks for details but overall great history prof. also kinda borin
Nice lady but really boring, tough grader, and boring again!
Nice Lady
Knows her subject very well. Great lecturer. One of the best at Pace.
Do not take her! She makes you way too much work and expects you to memorize every detail! She's really nice but come on...we've got other classes too. The textbook is thicker than 3 normal ones.
i think she is by far the MOST boring prof. at Pace.Bring earplugs with you if you have to take her class. She is BORING!
2 EXAM, A RESEARCH PROJECT, GROUP WORK, AND A FINAL. GREAT LECTURER, BUT EXAMS MUST HAVE EVERY SINGLE DETAIL. MAKES U EARN UR A
hard exams, WANTS DETAILS and extremely boring, lecture only, i had 100 pages of notes from her
Her Lectures are very interesting. She gives you exactly what is on the test. Overall she is very nice and knows her stuff.
horrible...
VERY HARD grader... ANAL-wants u to memorize EVERYTHING.... Heartless Grader
Excellent class, you will learn the topic and be able to write and talk about the topic. Teacher can be fair and flexible also. Would recommend.
I am a history major and she is my advisor she made me want to change my major. She acts like an english teacher when it comes to papers.
Excellent teacher, knows her stuff and made it interesting. Easy to do well if you know your information. My favorite teacher so far.
Excellent teacher,extremely knowledgeable.
Professor Blumberg was great. A little boring but to the point. Her grading is fair. She wants you to read this stuff remember it and show her word for word that you actually did the work. Very well spoken. DO NOT wait until last minute for help. :)
tough but fair, you'll really learn the material whether you want to or not.
Shes gonna make you fall asleep the first day. Class is just stright lecture. Think twice about how much you really like history before you take this class.
BORING, Will make you fall asleep the first five minutes, Knows way toooo much about all history, plus if you do not agree with her you get a bad grade.
She knows her history. You will learn a lot....But a very hard grader.
she is a great teacher as long as u go to class and do your work. Her tests are not that bad but work needs to be done.
Boring as hell.
great teacher. really knows her history. if you want to learn and get a good grade take her. strongly reccomend
Decent teacher. She really knows her history. you must read chapters to get a decent grade. she's not mean or boring she just expects you to do what your told to do. Take good notes and you might do better. Hard grader but you'll learn.
HEr classes are boring, should have gotten a B, but got a C...She gives you 60 definitions to study and only gives 10, you dont know which 10 so u have to study EVERYTHING, very hard grader, and senile.
Very hard grader... Good professor... Knows her stuff... You will learn in this class...
tells you EVERYTHING that will be on the test a week before hand- its impossible to fail a test! class is very boring but she is a great teacher
She's too old to be teaching and should be fired! If you're Asian, don't take her, she's a ****! She'll accuse you of plagiarizing and then fail you. Even though you follow everything she told you to do when writing the reports, avoid at all cost!!!
I agree she is too old to be teaching. It's like my great great grandmother teaching. She coughs like she's about to keel over. BUT she is very clear and nice.
best history professor. really knows her stuff. she grades tough but if you study youll get an A
she can get a little boaring just make sure you take notes. Its not hard if you do the work. the telling you sixty things to study and only having ten on the test got annoying but it wasn't that bad. write exactly what she wants on the essay.
She is a very tough grader however, if you are willing to work hard, you will do decent although not an "A". Her tests are exactly as on the study sheet but you need a ton of information to get full credit.
She is an excellent teacher, you will learn a ton, but no matter how hard you work you will not receive the grade you deserve, so be warned.
If you are a full-time student, then avoid her at all costs. It will be impossible for you to get an A in her class AND do well in 3-4 other classes unless you don't work, don't have a social life, and read all day. Her lectures are so boring. AVOID!
a little hard to listen to, kinda boring, but learned a lot, fair grader
Takes an eternity to get a sentence out. Very boring to listen to. Not clear in her instructions for what she wants you to study on tests.
one word: horrendous.
This lady looks like she''l die if she coughs to hard. She seems like a nice old lady until you have her. She is the hardest grader who gives no breaks. It literally takes her ten minutes to say one sentence. Do everything to avoid getting her.
Unusual teaching methods a detrement to the learning process. constantly interrupts other teacher.
Worst teacher I have ever had. She takes forever to get one sentence out, and is an extremely hard grader. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. Even when you ask for extra help, shes nothing but mean.
Run for YOUR LIFE. Hard as hell grader, assigns a ton of work, and is ruthlessly boring. Her speech sounds like a broken record slowed down times a thousand. Forget NiteQuil, listen to her for a minute and you'll be out cold. And kiss ur GPA goodbye!
hard work - be sure to study and read - presentation books to read outside- expensive class to take have to buy like 6 books - lectures are boring but informative
She's OK. Compared to Goldleaf she's really OK.
I don't why everyone else doesn't like her. This teacher was one of the best history teachers I have ever met. She may be a hard grader but you actually learn something in her class. She tells you exactly what will be on the exams so there really isn't any reason to complain.Very interesting class.
zzzzzzzzz im getting sleepy very sleepy
Go to class ready to take ALOT of notes! Fairly easy grader but very clear. She assigns a lot of work
At first, she seems ok. THEN, she expects way too much out of you. My class should've been worth 10 credits!
Shes a nice lady, but is boring-she takes forever to get a sentence out and if she would just speed things up a bit she wouldnt feel the need to keep us till after the period has ended-EVERY time. She gives alot of work for a 3 credit course and is very picky. I personally wouldnt take her again.
She is very clear on her materials.. But you should expect to work hard for a reasonable...She has a lot of expectable from her students...WORKS,WORKS,WORKS
she is the best history prof. shes not as hard as everyone makes her out to be. as long as you come to class and study hard you should get a good grade.
I also don't know why people aren't fond of her. Of course, she'll speak slowly, she's not the youngest professor out there.Besides those that are bored, she'll let you sleep anyway. On the other hand, it's easy to keep up with her. She's very sweet and understanding. A great class to take.
very smart women. Hard grader when it comes to grammer and content. Its a little hard to write as she gives her lectures, but you learn a lot about the subject. Very clear in what is expected of you.
Very nice prof but she expects a lot from you. Definitely knows her stuff but you must take notes and read the history texts to do well on essay-type exams.
one of the best his profs. stop complainging people. she gives you what you deserve. take notes and do your wor. and you should do just fine. an A is very possible
shes a nice person, I know. The reading material isn't very hard either. But when it comes to tests and essays, which I thought weren't very hard either, she grades so hard. I thought I did fine on everything but turns out I got a B for my final grade. Shes not a bad person, she is nice. She is boring as hell but the material is interesting.
very critical grader
You would rather cut your grandmothers toe nails than listen to Blumberg's VERY annoying voice patterns. Really unclear about what you wants you to write about and then grades you as if you are a historian. So picky. So critical. She's a little cute old lady on the outside, but a mean picky Historian on the inside. I don't reccomend her at all.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND BLUMBERG AT ALL!!!! This is because of the following reasons: 1.She is extremely condescending 2.Her voice is very hard to pay attention to being that when she lectures, her voice spikes up and down in pitch randomly. She does it to strengthen her point but in my opinion it just makes things more difficult. 3.VERY hard grader.
Took her in the spring. She can be tough on grammar in her papers. Plus looks for a lot of details on tests, but overall she's a great professor. Nice and understanding.
not a nice professor...very cold. seems haughty. don't recommend her AT ALL... also a tough tough tough x100 grader lol. seriously... details=entire textbook rewritten in your own words.
Essentially she's an English professor-disguised as a historian. You learn a lot, but she's extremely hard on grammar. Doesn't really appreciate your historical arguement if it's written with poor punctuation.Although, I learned a lot from her last spring, I would only recommend her for extremely good writers.
Everyone has mixed feelings about Dr Blumberg. The workload is doable if you DON'T take her as part of an 18 crs. semester. I agree that her grading is harsh, but people in my class did get A-'s and A's. If you really listin to her, she's interesting and definitely worth your tuition. So don't be hesitant and give her a try. You may NOT regret it.
Why is it that for every negative comment on here, almost immediately, someone posts a positive one. It's making feel like the good comments are coming from blumberg herself. Personally, I wouldn't recommend her unless you're a history major. She goes crazy for those people. Otherwise, find someone else. Just my opinion.
I wasen't a history major, in fact I graduated Lubin, and I took Prof. Blumberg for multiple classes. I didn't get the grades I wanted all the time, but enjoyed her lectures nonetheless. highly recommend...
i loved this class. i will deff take prof blumberg again. i highly recomend her!
The sllooowwesst speaker everrr do not take her you will fall asleep
She is very smart, but has a way of making the most interesting subjects boring. Picky about papers. The good thing, though, is that you won't miss a word she says because she turns a minute of information into three.
really good prof, knows her stuff, and fair grader on exams which are not tough at all. for all of you who complain- how about studying. def. take her
My class was full of history majors, I was the only one that wasen't majoring in it. I enjoyed her class and learned a lot. She speaks slow, but it helps in note-taking. There are two 4-5 page papers, which you can rewrite. Plus, there are Extra Credit opprotunities. Group work is graded easy. I recommend hg=er class. I felt I got my money's worth.
awesome prof. really knows her stuff. lecture are interesting and very helpful. study instead of complaining and you can get an A.
she was good and fair as well. A tough grader , her scrutiny of my reports really bent my gpa. You'll learn from her but you'd better know how to write first.
She is knowledgeable in her subject area. However, you will find her grading policies to be unfair, especially where papers and written assigments are concerned. Make sure you do well on her exams. Those count for the majority of the grade in her class.
She knows her stuff. Very hard grader. Get to know her and you'll be fine. Do extra credit if any. It does help.
Don't take her if its important that you get nothing less than an A. Even though she knows her stuff, she is a very critical grader. However, she is very accessible and willing to help. But even if she helps it does not mean your grade is secured. Her class can be frustrating at times...
i really hated this woman. extremely hard grader, and very critical. wants every almost ever detail sourced, even what would be considered common knowledge in her field. her handwriting is illegible. she talks very, very slowly, putting me to sleep. this prof seems to expect more from her students than they are capable of.
GREAT. SO sweet. a must take. will learn tons!
Very hard grader. It's practically impossible to get any higher than a B in this class. Basically, if you aren't able to spit back the textbook word for word to her on papers and exams you won't get full credit. No matter how much you study you'll never get to an A. There is no extra credit and the class is boring, even though she knows her stuff
If you take this class in a LC with Israel, it's harder than it seems. She is helpful, and has hope for her students. She does want you to read and participate. On papers, she's picky about dates and names. Will help if you ask the right questions. The readings can be a bit much though.
She is really hard to understand. Takes her 15mins to say something that will take someone else 2mins. She is very picky with papers and hard to listen to. Lots of reading and doesnt really let you get a word in. Extremely hard to get higher then a B
Sweet lady but tough grader. She stares at me in the hallways and doesn't bother saying Hi when I say 'hello' in a polite manner. She will try to help you but grade wise, she isn't worth taking
i took her years ago and have not forgotten about her lectures and the amount of knowledge this lady has...her lectures r precise, with no confusion whatsoever...i did very well in 2 of her classes..the tests are all essay and id, no multiple choice, so you need to know your stuff..you are lucky 2 be blessed with her if u get her..
The worst experience I had at Pace, she should retire. Not nice and a very unfair grader.Take my advice take any other professor but her.
I took her many years ago and I remember her class for being one of the best! She is very knowledgeable and makes class interesting. I am grateful to her for picking the required books for that class. They were great! This was a class on the Great Depression and I believe it is one of the best classes I ever took.
best storytelling voice ever
You need to forget your ego for this class and actually focus on learning something - not the grade. I have never worked harder in any class in Pace and although a lot of the work took up much of my free time, I am gald I completed this course. I can understand how students feel - like no matter how hard the attempt, it's never good enough.
I felt like the A's that I have acheived with ease prior to this class were worthless since I am still unsure whether or not I learned anything valuable. I respect Dr. Blumberg for her devotion, persistence, and tradtional teaching methods because YOU WILL LEARN IN HER CLASS if you try your best.
This professor is amazing. You get so many chances to do well (2 book reviews, midterm, final, 2 map quizzes, group presentation and class discussion.) If you ace midterm, book reviews and finals, an B+ A- or even A is possible. Give her a try and you will love american history.
She is not at all a mean professor, but not at all an easy professor. I would up with a 3.66 because i had 4 A's and a c+ in her class. She grades the tests way to hard. She also just lectures ever single class. I did learn alot though, I just destroyed my GPA. I feel bad writing this because she is such a sweet person. But the class is so hard
This woman is impossible to please. She uses her own works that she wrote which makes it even more impossible to please her. If you get one little detail wrong or confused you will do extremely poorly in this class. Dont be fooled by her cute little grandma image, she is relentless. She is extremely BORING if you are not into history. Just dont.
Although she has high standards for her papers, Blumberg is in all honesty one of the most knowledgeable professors I have had so far. Many people in my class didn't like her and claimed that she was too hard but during lectures those same people were on Facebook and never did the readings. Pay attention, do your work and you will learn a lot.
Not friendly. Poor teacher. Doesn't have a relationship with students. Hard to please. Impossible to get along with.
This professor is definitely the most knowledgable professor I have had thus far at Pace. With that being said, she is the hardest and most demanding teacher I have ever had in my life. Her expectations are that of graduate students. If you do not do well in a lecture-type class, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is unsympathetic and inconsiderate.
Dr. Blumberg is a very knowledgeable teacher. She is like a living textbook. She is an extremely tough grader and it is very important to her that your information is 100% accurate. This class was definitely the hardest class that I have taken at Pace but I learned a lot. The downside was there are many Sunday field trips and they're really boring.
Hard grader. No mercy. Endless reading assignments. DON'T DO IT.
Dr. Blumberg is a walking history textbook. Her lectures are very interesting and very easy to get into. Very hard grader, all assignments/ exams are essay based so if your not a strong writer you should think twice. Most attend class and read all requirements to do fairly well.
Shes extremely intelligent, knows what shes talking about. She plays fair game. 2/3 solely reliant on papers. The remainder 1/3 is the midterm and final. Quite a hard marker. If you enjoy sitting around and not doing anything in class, take her.
This class is extremely hard to make an A in. The expectations of the papers are impossible to meet and the comments/feedback she gives are pointless. The grades don't line up with the quality of your work. This course ruined my love of History.
She insists on accuracy - and should she not? Totally knows her stuff. Class attendance and participation counts a lot. It was in her class that I forced myself to answer questions. She's a kindly woman but won't cut you any special breaks. I did all the reading, research and thoroughly earned my A. You won't forget what you learn.
She is a VERY smart woman, she knows what shes talking about. That being said - You earn your grade in her classes! There are no hand-outs. If you do ALL the readings and participate in class, you'll be fine!
She's a tough grader & smart. She has long lectures, heavily uses readings/textbooks, plays documentaries, & has class field trips. She's great. Just prepare yourself. Lots of writing & she expects historical accuracy, which is good! Edits help you grow as a writer! If you're a History major and/or into NYC Studies, you should definitely take her.
She really knows history inside and out therefore you will learn a lot in her class. Only problem is she is a hard grader. She assigns quite a few papers so you need to pay attention in class if you want to get a good grade.
This woman seriously knows everything there is to know about New York's history. Attention to lectures is key to getting a good, because she is a very very hard grader.
Extremely hard grader, unless you trust your writing or have an extra few hours a week to devote to her assignments, don't take this class. I don't consider myself a lazy student, but the amount of assignments plus the readings was unreasonable. She also REPEATS lectures as well, not very interesting to listen to.
She is very understanding but a very harsh grader and makes you feel like you never took any English classes prior to her class. Papers are marked very harshly and filled with red marks. Know how to write & remember specifics in history because she knows what she's talking and is not playing around. Nice but such a tough grader. I Don't recommend.
Very very harsh grader. She grades you strictly on your writing skills. She expects everyone to be perfect when it comes to writing. It doesn't matter if you are a history geek, if your writing skills are bad, don't expect an A. I went to the writing center before handing in my papers and still get a bunch of red marks on it.
HARSH grader! The papers are crucial and her remarks are shocking sometimes even the essays on the midterm and final are pretty shocking. She shows no mercy at all. She's very knowledgeable and knows her history so sometimes the class can be interesting.
Wonderful teacher and lady. It IS in fact possible to get an A in her class (even an upper level one). She is extremely intelligent and therefore holds students to a high standard in order facilitate learning and improvement. I'm pretty sure that's the whole point of going to college. If you're looking for an easy A then skip her, your loss.
Dr. Blumberg's exams demand detailed essays, even for the short answer questions, but she does cover everything you need to know to do well. You are tested only on her lectures, so be sure to take good notes. Also, if you rewrite her papers she'll count your best grade rather than taking the average. Her courses are challenging, but you do learn!
She is like a textbook- she knows EVERYTHING about history and this class is pretty much all lectures with the exception of a few videos. It's fairly interesting but she is an extremely harsh grader. Even if you do your research you will end up with hard grades.
Dr. Blumberg is amazing! She knows the subject so well. Babs is one of few professors at Pace who is not only qualified, but also makes her classes enjoyable. She gives each lecture like she is telling you a bedtime story, I swear to God. That being said, her class is by no means an easy A. But if you put in the work, it will be worth it.
Dr. blumberg is very intelligent, but expects a lot out of students. She is a very tough grader, but she knows what she is doing.
She basically just read off index cards every single class for the entire duration, throughout the entire semester. Only time she ever took a break from those index cards was if someone raised their hand. I took her writing enhanced course and she was much tougher than all my English professors thus far. If you try, you can definitely get an A.
HARSH GRADER!!!! This is a history class. This professor grades strictly on grammar and believes your content is mediocre. I am a senior finance major. I have seen the worse. Professor Blumberg is in the top 5 worst professors I have ever taken. Stay clear if you are not an English Major; you can thank me later.
Just do not do it to yourself. There are other professor you can take. She is going to run a train on your papers. History is very interesting. She makes it uninteresting.
If you miss one class, you're screwed. She grades ridiculously hard and makes the course so boring with her unenthusiastic lectures.
Very knowledgeable when it comes to the course content. However, very unclear when it comes to what is expected from papers/assignments. Inconsistent andVERY tough grader. Tends to make degrading comments towards students' papers.
Worst professor I have ever had. Way too much homework & reading (multiple chapters 20-30 pages EACH class). Grades essays/ tests more on grammar/ spelling rather than content. Expects WAY too much from students that are taking MORE THAN ONE CLASS/ SEMESTER. Midterm was all writing & too much info to retain & write about on tests.
Do NOT make the mistake of taking this professor's class. She has the most unclear grading policy I've ever seen. She will never ever give you an A on anything, you'll be lucky to get a B. She loves giving C's out, which is funny because she's a C herself if you catch my drift. It's a miracle I passed the class. Don't do it to yourself, just don't.
Very degrading when it comes to paper commentary / grading. Unclear and inconsistent grading policy. You're allowed to re-write papers but you aren't guaranteed any solid grade boost post-rewrite. Dull class, yet the professor IS clearly very educated in the field.
