hard to get over her east coast accent for a few weeks. very tough, but thorough. Though she has some pretty liberal views, she contradicts them in her business lessons. class if group work oriented. Make sure you get an all-star group or you will be screwed. Good teacher.

You will get more out of Barbara then any other accounting teacher. Her class is demanding and sets you up to succeed in BAD2 with any teacher. With another teacher, 4/5 top students in BAD2 were from her BAD1 class(this includes myself). The class gives you an edge-take it.

She is the reason I am a successful tax accountant today. She was inspirational and motivated me to really learn the nuts and bolts of bookkeeping so I could advance to upper level accounting classes. She was also involved in outside activities with her Moorpark College students, like accounting club trips. Great memories and lots of fun.

Had her for 1&2- She is definitely hard, and the projects are lengthy and difficult! Study online quizzes for the test, and rd. the book...do not forget what you learned, you will see it again at the University level!! Best teacher ever. You learn alot, but if your lazy and looking for the C stay the hell away from this class. You'll hate it. If you're actuall interested in learning and taking it to the university level nothing will prepare you better.

This is an extremeley challenging course to begin with and she is tough but if you stick with it and read you will do well. Do the homework and show up and a b will be easy. An A is tough but totally possible.

Great teacher, definitely challenging but if you do all the homework and study hard for the tests you can get an A. Just hope you get good team members for the group projects, they're worth a lot!

She is the best teacher I ever had at the JC. She explains the topics very well and I believe that you can't have a better preparation for life or four-year school then taking her class. This subject is really hard don't take it unless u need it for ur major!! But if need to take it take Barbara! She really tries to make it as easy to learn as possible & she knows her stuff! This class was difficult but well worth it! Attending every class is necessary, tests are difficult, she goes over HW in class & allows you to redo them for full credit. Two group projects & one group oral report at end of semester. STUDY STUDY STUDY & listen to her. I highly recommend this class for business/ accounting majors!

Accounting is hard, just get that through your head right now! Additionally, Barbara is an extremely tough teacher but she is also equally as helpful. Barbara is a great teacher. She emphasizes the real world in her lectures and is close to Professor Jack Wegman in her lectures. I would take this class if you are a future accounting major like me or a business major just trying to get through accounting.

Barbara is realistic, but simple. This is not a comment to make you want to or not want to take her. I would take her over Gina Lord, because she is more real life and professional. Barbara's class is extremely hard. No joke there. But she gives you everything you need to succeed. She goes over the chapters in class, but it would really help you to read the chapter beforehand so you know what she's talking about. Go thorugh the sample quizzes over and over again til you get them right. Then you'll be ready for the test. DO HW!

Barbara is one of the best teachers at the JC, she is great. She is extremely organized & responds to emails fast. BAD 1 & 2 are hard classes but if you put in effort you will do well. Read the text, come to lectures, do the HW & practice/online quizzes. In BAD2 take advantage of her offer of starting the test at 7am! I got an A both semesters.

Barbara is absolutely wonderful!!! She's hard, no doubt, but that's only because she cares. You don't find that many professors who actually care about their students. My advice, study and do the homework and you'll do fine.

Take her at your own risk. She is the hardest teacher i have ever had. I did all her work, and study so much, then the tests came and i fail most of them, they are so hard and so tricky. However, she gave me a C. I am proud of my grade she is the hardest teacher ever.

Be prepared to work. Barbara's class is very hard, but you will learn the material. If you have to take BAD 2, take BAD 1 with Barbara because BAD 2 will be hell unless she has taught you the basics. People who haev Lord for BAD 1 have a hard time in BAD 2 with Barbara. Just do the hw and quizzes and study them to death. Attendance is vital.

Boring lectures, talks ALOT. Give way too much info. TOUGH test, really demanding. But, willing to help. Recommend Lord if you learn quickly.

This class made me love accounting. This teacher is not lazy. She will actually take the time to look at all your work, meticulously. I really love the feedback. After this class I know I will be very well prepared for the UCs. Are you serious about this major (or a similar one?) That's the real question in my opinion.

EXCELLENT Professor if you love accounting or finance. Very, very tough. Answers emails on Sunday! If you are taking BAD 1 or BAD 2 only because you need to not because you love it, take Professor Lord.

She cares about her students.. and even dispenses advice based on her experiences in college and the business world. I had her for BAD 1 and 2, and I learned a lot more than just accounting.

I've had her for five classes now. I can already tell the class will be time consuming and difficult. I want to pursue a career in this subject and think that she has been helpful so far. i don't hesitate to ask questions which she is always ready to answer I think she's not what makes the course hard.

Probably one of THE best teachers I have ever had. Hard subject, but she is great! Go to class, office hours and do all practice quizzes/resources, and you are guaranteed to do great. Barbara is a great professor. She is very passionate about the material she teaches. She spends a lot of time preparing her students with a lot of extra resources that comes in handy. THIS WOMAN IS AMAZING. At first you are dazed and confused, but she really puts the effort forth to teach you. She made accounting enjoyable. Its a touch class, but I highly recommend her. She isn't afraid to tell you the truth, and her brash attitude and character give you the energy to pass.

Show up! She provides you with the practice tests which help a lot. The group project is tough but if you split it up right then its not too bad. DO the homework and at the end it will help your grade tremendously. People that say its too hard are the ones who answer out loud (just repeating what she says). Shhh, actually listen, and take notes.

This is class is very difficult. She is an amazing teacher, so helpful and always responds to emails asap, however, it is not an easy class. 4 tests and 13 LONG homework assignments. There is also a group project that will take all semester to complete. If you don't know the material you will not survive this class. You actually have to work HARD.

Yes Barbara is a hard teacher... But you will learn to appreciate her dedication to the subject. She is one of the few teachers that still "teaches". Most teachers make you learn the subject on your own but Barbara really does everything she can to teach you what she knows. I loved her, and YES I worked hard for my A. She really cares about the students. Sometimes she can get intense and can be loud in the class which might be intimidating and not ideal for some. However, she hosts extra hours of study time which is helpful and if you go she works directly with you to explain the material. Theres weekly homework, fairly challenging tests (but has practice ones)

To start, I don't like Barbara very much. If you screw up on something, she will remorselessly tear you a new one. That being said, she is extraordinarily accommodating. She will respond to emails as late as 11:00 pm regarding homework, and as long as you're not inconveniencing her, she doesn't make a big deal about coming in late.

One semester long group project, 4 tests (3 chapters each), weekly homework both online and to be physically turned in. Does weekly tutoring sessions and will help you if you ask. I really got to know her, she has a diverse background in business and really cares about you knowing the material. All tests are online and pretty straightforward.

This class is not easy to study, but if you work hard you can get the grades you want. She does almost everything that she can do for you, and she is a very organized person. She is very straightforward and it is hard to take what she says sometimes, but she is a good professor and you can learn a lot of things in accounting and business.

From 2009: Really tough class, but this teacher gives you all the tools you need to complete everything successfully. Her class seemed really smart and well-organized, because I felt like I learned so much in that semester. Group work, but graded individually and fairly according to contribution.

Barbara is great! I like when a teacher has expectations of her students. I definitely learned the material through her teaching style. Lots of homework but it's worth it. She requires attendance and paying attention in class - after all, we are adults. She is extremely available and as long as you don't make excuses, she's helpful and even funny.

Barbara is by far the toughest instructor I encountered during college. However, she's the absolute best professor you will ever be lucky enough to have.
