Excellent prof; interested, helpful, challenging. Comments are extremely useful, and the group work is great. I learned tremdnous amounts in her course.

I personally liek her. She teaches well and uses a variety of different texts. She does like poetry and if you are good at poetry go for it! She grades easy and if you do your work you are bound to get at least a B!

Helped my writing. I could have done without the portfolio, bu ti t helped some stduents, I guess.

I took her class for summer A, and it was great. There is alot of writing but what do you expect for a gordon rule course? Very helpful and clear explanations. No poetry whatsoever, lots of opportunity for extra credit... Highly recommended!

took this class on line, not to bad. two assignments due a week, ussually one quiz and one essay. If you are decent at English and want to get this class out of the way take it with her and take it on line.

She's a very helpful and nice teacher,wants you to pass.She's big on grammar exercises(online & take home)there's a lot of writing in-class,but after the MCA it gets easier.I highly recommend taking her for this class.

This professor is awesome! She may give you a lot of assignments or exercises, but she wants you to learn. She makes sure you leave her classes not only appreciating literature but also using proper grammar. Definitely take her if you plan on being an English major. She's willing to help you!!

HER 1102 class i took online, was very easy. she said it was harder but no, it was very easy, and the 1101 was great, not too many assignmts, and easy. she is a real teacher. very samrt and comprehensive.

I enjoyed the class very much. She explained everything very well to make sure we all passed the MCA. She does give a lot of readings but as long as you come to class and complete the assignments, you'll pass. She also gives a lot of extra credit.

Professor Hirschfelder is one of the best teachers I've had in my college career. I loved having her. She is very informative and explaines herself and assignments very well. I took ENC 1102 with her online for the six week semester and was a little worried but ended up with an "A"!! I definitely recommend her. Keep up the good work Professor.

I really recommend taking this class. She gives clear, fair, and meaningful assignments. She doesn't grade too harshly and gives interesting lectures. I really liked her choice of books for the poetry and fiction portions of the class. Good teacher!

I took this course online, and it was pretty easy. You have three major papers, and a few mini-essays. the papers of course take time and thought, but are not too dificult. Basically, if you don't slack off, and put a real effort into your work, you should get an A. She is not lenient, but also not very strict on her grading.

I took this class online. On average there are 2 assignments a week. She's very specific on what to include in essays but she takes FOREVER to grade them, making it hard to know how to improve. She's also very particular. Corrects and marks off for things that seem to be a matter of personal style with wording.

This comes from an A student: class is easy. classes are mandatory and BORING! Assignments are not worthwhile, but bearable. Got an A. Prof. is peculiar but overall pretty nice and worth the time. just respect her rules.

Good teacher, very very nice woman. She explains everything, sometimes to the point of boredom, but atleast you understand it. Lots of writing assignements, but for an english class it wasn't bad. I would recommend her.

Online class requires quite a bit of work. I did receive an A in this class though so it is possible and i'll tell you how... Turn every assignment in on time. Do rough drafts even though they are not required - she will edit and just fix everything she says. Follow directions word for word! She is a good teacher and is willing to help you!

I took this online, did some of my best writing, and barely earned an A. This class was much more difficult than ENC1101. There is a lot of work involved, and you better turn things in on time. The grading didn't make sense to me since she gave me higher marks for what I thought were poorer papers. She's a helpful professor though, so ask for help!

I took Prof. Hirschfelder for ENC1102 honors. I loved the class. We did a lot of interesting analysis and she made it fun. Explained essay and other assignments clearly and would help you over email or during office hours alot. Not a easy A but she is fair.I would recommend her.

AMAZINGGGG, love her. took her honors course, HIGHLY recommend that. she is GREAT at what she does. definately have to work for your A. extremely insightful. talk to her before you turn in a paper, SHE WILL HELP YOU!!

Awesome teacher. She is fun and she choses interesting subjects to teach. You will need the textbook(s). Only drawback is that she is really into poetry (sorry not my thing)

Attend class and follow her directions, yes you can probably write a fantastic essay, but just make sure you have all the criteria she asks for. Everything is very laid out and she is willing to help. just ASK... it's a fun class, easy grammar tests. just do your work on time. not too time consuming at all.

Took her Honors course. I loved the books we used. Americas Best Plays, Poetry, Short stories. Grades hard on essays, a lot of home work. It wasn't too bad, and doesn't grade too tough. She was nice, and loves the poetry section. She wasn't a bad teacher

This professor was great. She knows the material really well and she made some of the boring parts of English more fun. her grading is fairly simple. There is a lot of work in this class, but as long as you stay on top of it you will receive a good grade.

This professor is very clear in her expectations for assignments, willing to help when you ask questions and offers very helpful tutorials. Grading isn't always done very quickly but she gives you helpful feedback once grading. I would highly recommend her.

Amazing teacher! I have had her twice, for ENC1101 and ENC1102 and will be taking her new movies class this fall. She is very detail oriented however her directions are very clear and she gives you ALL the information and materials you need to succeed as long as you do the work. She does allow for a few late assignments as well. I HIGHLY recommend

Possibly the most amazing professor I have ever had. I had her for both ENC1101 and for Honors ENC1102. It was the only class that I never missed, because it was so fun and interesting. You do write a lot, but it really helps in boosting your GPA, and she really helps you out! Amazing professor, I love her!

She is a very nice lady. Bubbly and talkative. You write a lot and it is challenging but she gives you all the requirements for the assignments. You don't have to attend class but it is better to because she hands things out pretty much everyday. She also puts EVERYTHING on Angel.

SHE IS AMAZING! Must take her. Very clear on what she wants. Easy if you keep up with the material. Got an A+. I would take her any day.

She's amazing! I've had her previously before this class although the papers are a little tough she gives great feedback and will always be there if you need help. And she always has amazing shoes!

Mrs. Hirschfelder is an alright teacher. She trys to get her students excited about writing, but I never saw that happen. Grammar is a big portion of her teachings and grading. I learned more through her online work. Just expect to do some work online and 3 major papers. Attendance is mandatory, even though sometimes her lectures were pointless. B-

She is a great teacher. Our poetry class turned out to be fun and very sociable bc we all loved this class so much. I have had terrible english teachers but i wish i had her for my past english classes.

Very nice lady, but can get annoying at times. She gives a few quizzes that shouldn't take you longer than 30-60 minutes tops to study for. The grade is made up mainly of the quizzes and 3 papers, which are all pretty easy. Pretty easy class, although she's pretty strict with attendance.

she is always so happy. not a hard class at all. she is very helpful and is very interactive with students. I barely tried and got a B. a lot of mini tutorials and stuff online but they are easy. essays are easy and there are only 3. very good professor

She's a very nice person, and really wants her students to succeed. However, I personally have learned absolutely nothing from her ENC1101 class. I would recommend you take a different professor if you really want to learn decent writing skills.

She's so sweet! She truly wants the best for all her students. She's very helpful and she wants everyone to learn so there are a lot of assignments for this class but it is worth it because it will help you improve your grammar and writing skills. She wants you to do good so she offers plenty of extra credit and opportunities to turn in late work.

She is really friendly and she made class fun. I took her for an english class about movies, and she is the perfect teacher for that class because she has seen pretty much every movie woth waching. Kind of a stickler for attendence and takes a while to grade papers but overall she is a pretty good teacher.

Loved this class. She is very happy, helpful, and positive. There are a lot of assignments, but most are extremely easy to follow/complete. The essays are very carefully planned out, and she is ALWAYS trying to help sort out any problems students might have. I loved her as a teacher so much that I'm taking her class for 1102.

don't take her the workload is obsurd.if you miss an assignment online you will receive an absence.every class, an assignment is do and she gives out like 100 handouts.she does not take any excused absences so if you miss her class you receive a absence.I took her hybrid course and she literally has 80 assingments for students! don't take her!!

She assigns many papers and quizzes. Do not be absent or even a minute tardy It will hurt your grade The assignments are straight forward but a pain. Prompts for essays are generic and not interesting. Good freshman English teacher because she is clear on what she wants. Not a class for anyone lazy. Doesn't accept late homework.

If you have a tendency to zone out and hate teachers who CONSTANTLY SCREAM this teacher is not for you. She screeches when she talks which makes learning not fun. I wouldn't recommend.

She is very quirky and nice, which is pleasant. She does have a few assignments to give, but nothing overwhelming. Do the online assignments and you're should be fine

Prof. Barbra is an excellent teacher. She may be a picky grader, but if you go to her office hours she will tell you "exactly" what to do to receive an A level grade from her. Also, she gives many short reading quizzes articles that are actually interesting to read. If you apply yourself this can be your easiest class.

She is super funny in her lectures and slightly awkward, but that is what makes her unique. She grades harsh and has a lot of reading quizzes. My only problem was I didn't feel as though those quizzes were very beneficial.

Great professor in my opinion. You do have to show up for class because otherwise youll miss something but she has a great sense of humor and keeps class interesting. Usually a quiz every week and a lot of papers. She expects you to give your best effort and I appreciated the feedback. Also lots of extra credit especially with the lab days.

She is an outstanding teacher who makes a huge effort to make sure each topic is clear. She helped me finally learn grammar rules that I wasn't confident in like who/whom, etc. She was very clear about what she wanted from homework, quizzes and tests. It was a very easy A and I learned a lot!

I loved her for ENC1101. Shes very quirky which I like because she makes you laugh. Overall, everything was pretty easy and she will help you with anything! I wish she taught ENC1102.

Given the circumstances of Covid-19, Prof. Hirschfelder has gone above and beyond to accommodate with her students. She truly does care for you and your education. 10/10 would love to take this class again.

For her online class, she had lectures posted on Canvas. I never listened to a single lecture and still did well in the class. She's a pretty easy grader on the essays. There are also about 3 weekly assignments, some take longer than others. I think it was a pretty easy class though.
