she is wonderful. she is very helpful and tries to make sense out of biology. although lab can be sort of confusing, she does her best to break it all down for you. Bio isn't isn't but she makes it seem that way

She is so passionate about teaching biology. She is always there for you when you need extra help. The study guides help out A LOT for the tests.She allows extra credit and is fair. The only negative quality is how fast pace she moves in lectures, but mostly labs.

She teaches the class much like a high school course, which makes sense because the target audience is freshmen. Attendence is mandatory for this class daily, as is the Bio Labs. She explains the material in class, and gives away a lot of answers. Can't emphasize enough you should take this as a freshman.

Honesty, She wants you to take an A. She helps you to improve your skill. Although, I am international student,I got an A without taking the FINAL.

She really wants to see you succeed; however do not be mislead to think she will just hand you your grade. Attend every lecture and every lab youll be thankful when the final comes around and you do not have to take it On the other hand if you are on the line between grades you can take the final to drop your lowest score. The coolest, craziest, most fun teacher I've ever had the privilege of taking..she makes the seemingly boring concepts of Biology fun by relating them to relevant yet more fun everday things...I actually loked forward to her classes!!! Good teacher. Tests are very generous, Test answers are all in the study guide all you have to do is fill it out during lecture and study it. Reading the book helps reinforce any unfamiliar concepts. Good intro level class.

Mrs. K is awesome! She will do anything to help you understand things better. Attendance isnt mandatory but highly recommended (we didnt have to take the final if we didnt miss any classes and were aloud to answer bonus on the tests). Id recommend her to anyone!

Great teacher. Her teaching style makes it easy for almost anyone to do well in the class. If you study the handouts,try during labs, and SHOW up to class you should do fine. One of the nicest and funniest teachers I have met. If you have to take bio 105 you would regret not taking her.

Mrs. K is extremely nice and cares about her students, however..The class made me feel like I was in highschool again, no laptops allowed past the first row? HUGE disappointment..Were college students. Tests were very easy if you study the notes she gives. Lectures were boring and if you miss more than 1 class you get a hard test.

By far my fav prof at USI. She will call you out in class though but she is legit. Requires a little effort but if you study you can easily get an A. You can do without the book but you must have the lab manual which it is probably difficult to get the 2 separately. But take her if you really want to learn the human body but dont expect an EASY A.

By far one of my favorite proffesors at USI! She will do anything to help you in her calss. If you go to class and fill out the review guides you will do fine. I have not used the book once and I have an A in her class. She makes if fun and I enjoy going to her class. If she has the review sessions before a test go, they do help! Its an easy A.

Has a unique way of teaching so you understand the material! The study guides are very helpful! The only complaint is that if the class as a whole does poorly on tests, she gives quizzes everytime in lab, which I think is unfair for those who are doing well. I wish she would seek those out who fail and make them take the quizzes! Overall take her!

I was not interested in Biology prior to the semester and I have loved every class. She is extremely helpful, available, hilarious, and intelligent. The tests are not difficult because she prepares you very well. The content is so hepful I have changed the way I eat and treat my body. I actually learned something that affects my daily life.

I just realized how great this professor was the other day. I was a political science major taking this class to fill my core classes. I had no real interest in the subject matter. I took this class in 2007 and still to this day, I can name every bone in the body. I have no use for that skill, but I learned it so well because of Professor K.

Barbara was and is so dedicated and uses many props and awesome raps/poems to help you learn. The class was always interesting and fun. She is very easy to talk to and an overall happy person. You must take her if you can. I was a psych major and I am now a nursing major because of her.

Her class is fairly easy if you do what you're supposed to do. Test questions come directly from the study guides that she provides. Oh, and she also raps... it's adorable!

Mrs. K loves biology almost as much as she cares for her students. The classes were always enjoyable. Even though lab was 2 hours long, it felt short because of how fun and creative Mrs. K is with her teachings. Being a senior I've seen many professors, Mrs. K is one of the few professors that truly makes learning a breeze!

Mrs. K was one of the best professors I've ever had. I'm not a BIO major either. She truly cares about her students and wants to know something about them - if you give her a chance. She is willing to help anyone with anything - if you ask. She wants you to do well. Her lectures are entertaining and informational as well. I recommend her class.

Loved her class. I only took it to fill a requirement but if I needed another biology class I would take her. She was super fun and very funny!! Made lecture guides for each test and would also have study sessions! She made learning fun!

She is really passionate about what she is teaching and makes is that much easier to understand. If you still do not understand it she is very quick to respond up emails and very willing to meet outside of class to help. I recommend meeting with her outside of class if you do not do well on a test because she is more than helpful!

She is hilarious! Also the one of the sweetest professors you can have!! Definitely recommend taking her.

Professor K is one of the best instructors I have had during my freshman year this year. She really cares and wants you to succeed in the class. She has many study sessions before tests and gives you plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Lectures and labs are always interesting and engaging. Professor K is great! SHE CARES ABOUT YOU!

She is great. She really did save me from failing the course and I love her for that.

Mrs. K is probably the best college professor I have ever had. Her joy and enthusiasm is contagious. And she makes biology so interesting! She wants to see every one of her students pass, and offers so much help to make sure they do. She not only cares deeply for her students, but also teaches us that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made."

Mrs. K. Is such a great teacher. You really learn a lot from her class as long as you attend class and don't skip and print off the notes and listen to her lectures you can get an A. She is always there to help she goes out of her way for her students in any way that she can. She is hilarious and loves to teach! *Textbook is not mandatory!*

Mrs. K is always willing to go above and beyond the classroom to help. Try not to miss many classes (you wouldn't want to anyways!) She loves this subject and her enthusiasm when lecturing shows that! She gives extra credit, just participate! Mrs. K loves to help and wants her students to pass, and will help out any way that she possibly can!

Best science teacher I've ever had. She truly cares about her students and wants them to do well. Is always available to help. I would absolutely recommend her for anyone taking bio at USI. She's flexible and is understanding. Tests aren't too hard, she gives lecture guides and study guides for the tests as well. She's great at what she does.

Mrs. K is so funny. I cannot stress enough how she has made this experience better for me. As a future teacher Mrs. K is a great role model to follow after. She goes out of her way to help anyone out. Sure there are a lot of tests, but she offers so much help. The university needs to give her some type of award for her dedication. Best at USI

Professor Kalvelage is the most sweetest womanprofessor I have every met. She actually cares on whether or not you do well. I am someone who has never liked the concept of any kind of science or biology, but she makes it interesting. She will not move on if the class does not understand it. If you make it to class everyday she will offer rewards.

Mrs. K is awesome! She is full of energy and loves her students like they are her own children. She makes biology interesting and is the best rapper at USI. I didn't mind going to lab at 8 am because Mrs. K was there to make it fun and simple. If I had the chance I would take her again. One of the best teachers I have met at USI so far!

The absolute best! I was nervous to take Biology since I'm not too good at science, but Mrs. K was so helpful. I actually learned during every class lecture, labs went along with the lecture to make things clearer, and the tests were right from the notes! She also gave multiple chances for extra credit. One of my favorite professors, ever!!!:)
