This teacher is very hard. We memorized the entire digestive system the first day(well we tried to atleast). The tests are VERY hard and there is A LOT of info to cover. Do not take this class unless it's required!!!!
I had her for Stress Management, the meditation was the best part. I felt so relaxed after her class, it was almost hard to drive home afterwards. Her test were all open book, and fairly easy if you read the material and knew where to look for answers.
Be sure to read the assigned chapters in the book! Even if she doesn't cover it in class it is fair game for the tests (which are easy). A lot of people didn't do well in the class, but they didn't bother to read the book, either.
Way too much information covered in such a little time period.
class was fun and informative. would attend another class if it fell into my degree requirements
Loved Konopka. She really does help you learn the material. It is a difficult class but she makes it much easier than other profs. at the school.
READ THE BOOK. You could probably miss every lecture and still do well in the class if you read the book. She babbles on in lecture and most of the stuff she talks about seems irrelevant.

CLASS IS REQUIRED FOR NURSING. ONE OF THE WORST INSTRUCTORS. SEEMS LIKE SHE ENJOYS SEEING HER STUDENTS FAIL HER CLASS. VERY UNSIMPATHETIC TOWARDS HER STUDENTS. AND TEACHES LIKE SHE IS FROM ANOTHER PLANET. IF YOU NEED A NUTRITION CLASS KEEP AWAY FROM THIS INSTRUCTOR.
This was a hard class. Don't bother to go to lecture because she really doesn't talk about anything thats on the test. It's interesting nutrition stuff but its not on the test.
If this class ir required I would recommend not taking this teacher. There was not much she talked about in class that was needed for the tests. You don't need to go to class because you have to teach the material to yourself. She would rather talk about herself and her family than the material you are responsible for.
I found this class to be very easy. She is a great teacher
Easy Class.. Interesting.. How ever the exercise part can be boring.. she might change it next semester i ended up witha b- would have been an A if i attended the gym part more often.. easy assignments as long as you do everything she asks people leave out details and dont get the grade they could
If you study and take time to do the project there is NO reason you shouldn't get an A in this class. The tests are hard, but even if you don't do that well on them she drops the lowest score AND gives you a ton of extra credit opportunities. Because of the extra credit I got 80/60 on the project, and that gave me an A in the class.Do the workbook!
Very nice and lectures well, although she could cover more important material in lectures. But the supplemental instructors cover whatever she doesn't. The class what pretty easy though. She gives a lot of extra credit. As long as you read the material and attend study groups, you'll get an A.
To succeed in this class you must really read the material and study, study, study. There is plenty of extra credit, and the SI will help you. Konopka was interesting and very nice, but her lectures covered a third of what you really needed to know. I enjoyed the class, and learned so much from it. Just be prepared to put plenty of time into it.
This instructor is one of the friendliest and most commited at occ. She is kind and very giving of her time. She goes out of her way help students succeed and teaches very creatively. Tests are comprehensive so you really need to learn everything in the chapter to do well, but its worth it. I learned so much from Konopka and enjoyed her lectures.
She is a Very understanding Proffesser, Class material does not neccessarly show up on tests. However if you are having a problem in the class she has a SI, and will recomend you to the pass office. The test scores are very deciving. I thought I was failing and ended up with a B in the class. She allows for plenty of extra credit. SI Tina rocks!
this was the best instructor i ahve ever had. I had to miss a test due to family problems and she had no problem letting me make it up at my conveinence. I would definately reccomend taking this insructor.

I had no interest in this subject and was taking it as a pre-req for my program. Amazingly she moved me a 180 degrees. By the time the semester was over I hated to leave the class. Her lectures are 1/3 of the test material. Do not get behind and don't give up. The first test is hard but it a weed out test for those who really want to be there.
First test is a depart test (weed out test). Do not fret if you do avg or slightly below. Take her up on her extra credit (esp the larger point ones) and take advantage of the after class tutoring by the SI's. They will save you. I was not interested at all, but learned to hate leaving the class. Know the text besides the lecture.
sucked.
Dr. Konopka is one of the kindest and most considerate people I've ever known. She goes out of her way to assure that students have all the tools they need to succeed. I was very impressed by her willingness to sacrifice personal time to meet with students that needed the extra attention. I highly recommend this instructor.
Be prepared to put alot of time in.Not a blow off class.Dr. K is great.Memorization is the key to a great grade. Go to all of the study groups/sessions.
DO not take this teacher. I'm not sure who wrote all these other comments, but this professor was not very nice or considerate. Most of the time she made you feel like an idiot if you didn't know an answer. What she talks about in class is only 10% of the exams. You will need to read and teach yourself the ENTIRE book in order to pass this class.
Average teacher. Kinda nice. Doesn't cover verbally all that is on test. You have to make sure you read the material if you want to pass.
not a blowoff class in the least, you pretty much have to memorize the entire book if you want to pass the class, lectures are maybe 5% of the exam, she goes on talking about pretty much nothing of importance and the tests are worded differently than what she says IF she mentions it in the lecture. She talks in circles. this class blows.
Don't take her. Go to another campus if you have to. The tests are extremely hard. Even if you read the chapters it doesn't help. Please don't take her. When the class started there were about 40 of us, by the middle of the semester there were 10. She's the hardest professor I've ever had, nice, but hard.
Tough! Must read book thoroughly to do well on very detailed tests. Too much info to cover in lecture. Prof is kind and interesting but the SI covers all test info in detail. MUST attend SI sessions for an A. Lots of extra credit offered. Do ALL of it and you'll definitely pass. Interesting class but too much covered at once.
Read the textbook/supplement manual like the back of your hand and you'll pass. She doesn't cover everything in class that'll show up on tests but this is Nutrition not Organic Chemistry. Students are fooled into thinking, 'Oh, nutrition, so easy, I'll just cram.' Then they get an D+ on the test.
Not the best teacher, but passing is do-able if you study hard. She has a Phd but somehow can't convey the info to us very well. Class average on tests very low. Attend her study sessions which are led by a supplemental instructor.
Very nice lady but VERY EXTREAML INCREDIBLY hard. Their is NO need to come to class because none of it is actually going to be on the test. You will have NO CLUE what will be on the exam. I studied so hard and still got C's but she does give lots of extra credit, go to another campus if you can.
Good personality, but read your book and study for this course! Tests are HARD so study, study, study...
The BIGGEST WASTE of time. You will sit in this class and learn nothing. Poor use of class time, lectures are not structured and do not cover main topics. This course is a cram session she covers 5% of the chapter material in class. I you do not like to attend lecture this class is a perfect match, you will lose some extra points(10,)just read tex
Teacher was helpful when asked questions and was always pleasant in class. Lectures did not always cover test material. Attend the study sessions lead by SI's. I felt like I should have studied more but ended up with an A in the class. Getting an A is very doable. Do show up for lectures - it is worth extra points and you do cover math problems.
This isn't a fluff class. It takes a lot of study time. If you don't need it for your major or aren't interested in nutrition it's probably not for you. I loved the class, but it was very hard. Dr. K was fantastic at helping with any questions students had though, and has teacher aids in the class to help as well.
Ridiculous class. Nothing on the tests are covered in lecture, some math problems if that. Takes exam questions from the margins of the book. YOU MUST READ EVERYTHING. She does give extra credit, for showing up to class, 1 point a day( i think). and 20 points for doing a mobile nursing clink that she brings in. Still...it's a HARD class. don't take
The material is difficult. Read every chapter in the book and go to SI if you can, they hand out study sheets. Dr. K offers a lot of extra credit( on the exams, project, and each class is worth 1 pt). I skipped 2 times. And when it came down to my final grade I was 1 point away from an "A" ended up with an "A-". So make sure you don't skip!!!
Go to the study groups, and just take notes/note cards on the definitions, math and body functions. The tests don't have hard questions, but she LOVES trick answers.
Very hard class. U must read ur textbook and dont skip anything that seems unimportant. Online quizes on blackboard arent that helpful either, most questions dont show up on tests. All tests are cumlative....dont dare forget anything! Dont take this teacher if you dont have to.
Watch out this instructor, her tests are very tricky! Go to a different campus if you're required to take this class!
Konopka knows the but is terrible at teaching it. lecture time is completely useless. attend study groups AND STUDY THE BOOK!!! her tests are all from the book, and to make it worse, it's all the SMALL DETAILS! i would not recommend her.
As many of the others have mentioned, her tests are not easy. However, they do come directly from the book. If you read the chapters thoroughly (yes, she does pull questions from little details), you should be able to do fine in her class. I also recommend the study sessions, as she is great and her handouts are really helpful. Lots of Extra Credit!
She is a great professor! If you go to class, study the book, and do the online study material you will do fine. The tests are easy and even if you don't do great on one, she'll drop it. Lot's of easy extra credit!
Must go to SI sessions or go to tutor to have easier time getting an A. Not as easy if lacking a chemistry or A&P background. Do all extra credit and get good grades on 1st 3 exams because 4th test is most difficult and can be dropped. Must take final & it's cumulative. Good professor but must spend time studying book to do well.
She is so lovely! When I registered for her class and checked her ratings, I got really scared. But this page is full of unnecessary negativity. She does 1hour review before tests, VERY helpful, and her class is fun. tests are difficult, but a breeze if you study the book. She gives SO much extra credit! PLUS 10 extra credit points for every test.
Also I would like to add that if you're gonna study for your tests, read the study material she posts online. Questions from that are on the test! She is a great teacher. Seriously.. read the book, make sure you understand everything, and take the test with confidence. My lowest test grade has been an 88.
Dr. K is wonderful. She's so happy & always upbeat. Yes, her tests are hard, but if you listen to her lectures and do the study guides in the back of the book, you're golden. Definitely do the extra credit, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. Also, she lets you drop your lowest test score. She is just great. Highly recommended!
Mrs Konopka was an amazing teacher!
She was very nice and helpful. Got the whole class involved. The SI helped out a lot and gave out study guides. Exams were straight out of the book. She also gave a lot of extra credit which helps!!!
Great, upbeat personality. Kept the students evolved in the discussion. Be prepared to spend a lot of time with your nose in the book. This class covers a lot of material. Tests are hard, material came right out of the study guide and text.
This professor definitely knows her stuff but she shouldnt be a teacher. She has no sympathy for students and expects you to know things that she doesnt teach. If you want to pass this class, you need to read the entire book cover to cover. Not recommended.
I loved this class! Konopka is such an up beat person full of information. I always looked forward to her class! She is very clear and helpful answering all questions and giving us her advice. I recommend this class!
She is passionate about nutrition and at times you will feel like she is trying to teach you how to do her job. She gives extra credit opportunities and drops the lowest test score except final which all test are cumulative. If you read, study, do extra credit you will be fine. This class is not easy.
Attending class is pointless because she covers nothing (literally) that is on the tests. 100 problem exams covering an average of 5 chapters each. ALL exams are cumulative (except the 1st, obviously). If you have to take this class... make sure you have a lot of patience and plenty of time to study every page of the text.
This professor should not be a teacher. I want every one to know how tough her tests are. Even after knowing 50 review questions by heart and reading the text i barely passed. She has no idea what is on her own tests which explains why her review questions do not help much. Do not take this teacher! her class average when i was in it was a D.
I LOVED Dr. K! You'll do great in this class if you read the chapters, make flash cards, and do the extra credit. She's very nice and very knowledgeable.
This instructor goes by Dr. K. If you are doing nursing undergrad the class is required. Be ready to study; the class is 3 credits. But, be ready to contribute around 10 hours a week with your head in the book. The class moves quickly and although attendance is not mandatory, if you do not attend; you do not pass. It was a fun class overall.
I love Dr. K! Her SI Laura is amazing too. I took her for Nutrition in the Summer and passed with an A-there aren't many assignments and the tests are straight forward. Study the questions at the end of the chapter and the key points, do your assignments, and go to study group with Laura, and you will pass and learn a lot. Great class!
She doesn't teach you anything , half the time I have no idea what she is talking about. Do not take her
I would not recommend her as a teacher to anybody. She loved to go off topic in our class and then expect us to know the chapter afterwards. She told us she didn't know what her material was because she didn't make the tests or her own power-points. I don't feel she is empathetic to her students, and her directions are VERY unclear.
Terrible professor. Gave no guidance on what to study for her 100 question tests even when asked what to study. Questions on test that had not been talked about or even in the text. Love nutrition but the class was ruined by a poor professor
Listen carefully in class. Dr. K uses lecture information on her tests. Be very careful about the wording on tests; it can be quite tricky. She expects students to give their best effort, and she is encouraging. Do the extra credit. She uses some great learning techniques in class and she provides relevance with newspaper articles, Ted Talks, etc.
Dr K was a great teacher, and gives her students every chance to succeed in her class. She's very interesting and keeps class fun and fresh. In saying that, you have to study. As long as you listen in on lectures and study at home, this class is very do-able. If you're lazy, then this is not the professor/class for you. She also gives TONS of EC!
Already taking a 15 week science course in 8 weeks is hard enough, but she provides no assistance whatsoever. Home work, reading, lecture notes barely get you a B on exams. Doesn't respond to emails until days later. Off topic throughout class, doesn't care for student concerns when a majority of us are having trouble. Made this class unenjoyable.
She knows her stuff, but did not lecture or teach. Be prepared to read, learn and study all on your own. After you take a test the next class is an hour and a half of going over the test. Very pointless and a waste of class time. She lectured from slides and book maybe three times the whole semester. Won't take this professor again. Don't recommend
Dr. K is a little tough, but very fair. She offers more than enough extra credit! At least 10 pts per exam and several other opportunities. 5 exams and you get to drop your lowest grade! It's not necessary to attend classes, but you get extra credit to do so. She'll stress the points you need to know. There is also an SI for assistance.
I found this class super hard for a stress management class. It just stressed me out more! The tests are difficult and long with no indication what to study. No study guide or any information on what to cover. Lots of annoying tai chi excercises. Smart lady but not a good teacher. I dropped and am taking with another teacher at a different campus.
She doesn't go over what will be on tests in class, and test are worth majority of the course would nit recommend unless you good at self teaching
"Lectures" are a waste of time- flips through slides and doesn't seem to plan any structure at all. Hardly covers anything on her tests. Prepare to read the entire book, memorize all the details, and still find new material on tests. SI sessions are great, esp. since Dr. K gives no guidance about what to study. Extra credit offered, you'll need it.
Lectures sort of vague. She seems to get irritated with questions. Tests are tough. Tests are so many chapters of material including content from prior tests. Be prepared to read every letter of every chapter as not all the material on the tests are discussed in lecture. A few times there was conflicting information between lectures and the book.
Stress management; can't go wrong. Just study for the easy quizzes, she does powerpoints each class, then posts them on D2L; scantron needed. Just make sure you follow along, and actually try these exercises to reduce stress. It's very helpful!
She is very nice and a great teacher. She gives extra credit and open book tests!!
I dropped this class after 6 weeks. Attendance is mandatory. Prof skips through slides, goes back and forth, uses pics and figures from other books that we have no access to. Doesn't tell you what is on the test, no study guide, she does not write her own tests. Get ready to read and essentially guess what is on the test. Test majority of grade.
Prof. Konopka was not very organized. She was late to class quite often and her tests were never based on her lectures. She skipped around ppts in lecture so you never got the full information needed. 75% of each test had things we never even went over in class. You cannot redeem yourself if you get even 1 bad grade. I dropped my 1st class w/ her.
she doesn't go over everything and from her lectures, it sounds like the exam will be easy, but her exams are so long and hard. she doesn't teach a lot of things and we see it in exams. she also doesn't respond to her emails because she doesn't care about students' concerns. oh also u don't get to know what u got wrong in her exam.
Konopka was all over the place in lectures. She used slides that weren't her own, and jumped through 20 slides at a time only saying "you need to know this for the exam" or "you don't need to know this". Hardly any actual teaching was involved, I had to teach myself everything. She was also very condescending and rude if anyone asked a question.
Dont take her for EMR training. She is all over the place and doesnt know what shes doing. I honestly knew more than her with some stuff. I basically taught myself. The SI was more help because she sent out study guides that were basically the test questions so studying was easy. If you can avoid it, dont take her. It was a waste of my time.
I cannot for the life of me figure out any of these bad reviews! Dr. Konopka is easily one of my favorite professors I've ever had. I am a returning student continuing into a master program so Ive had dozens of professors and she is one of the best! Hands down! So caring and her class was very resourceful. You get the grade you earn! She's great!
The only thing that is consistent with Dr. K is that she is all over the place. She isn't a bad person, she is just a bad professor. She is just a mess, her lectures were very disorganized and she didn't seem like she knew what she was doing half of the time. Do NOT take her for PER2540. Also, don't expect her to communicate anything.
I love Dr. Konopka, I took her for stress management and nutrition and she was amazing for both. Consulars make her seem like she no bs type of professor but she is really easy to work with and flexible. For nutrition, though there is a lot of book work she gives you 3-4 weeks to complete it, and there is some in-class work too.
This is from the perspective of an online student. Her online content was neatly organizer and assignments opened with a week of time to do them. The book is a necessity because she uses connect along with the assignments there. She however was incredibly difficult to reach out to and couldnt answer our questions. Added work that wasnt in syllabus.
I honestly wouldn't take this professor's classes again. Her exams questions weren't clear and when I emailed her about it she took two weeks to respond and never changed the test results.
Dr. Konopka was a nice professor, but she rambled a lot in her lectures and wasn't very accessible outside of class, taking a long time to respond to emails. She drops your drop your lowest test score, though, so I appreciated that, but I don't think I would take another class with her.
I had Professor Konopka for Stress Management. WOULD NOT TAKE AGAIN. Lectures are boring. Her tests are actually garbage because she spells things wrong which leads you to second guess yourself. When you do decide to email her about something you think is wrong, she will just point you to a place in the book.
Super organized teacher who relies to emails quickly. Very passionate about her job and makes the class and material easy to follow. In this class you must complete Weekly questions about chapters, review chapter outlines (she provides), take five tests, complete assignments (about course work), do connect work, and do extra credit work.
Taking this class online was a joke. This prof is super unorganized and gives very unclear instructions about what you are supposed to do in the assignments. The exams are really tough, and there was a ton of math in this class. Worst class ever. It was an easy A for me.
Everything was online so it was hard to tell, but some of the extra credit assignments were based on iffy concepts like the government hiding key info from consumers. It also seemed like students needed to present certain opinions so I parroted back what was taught & left my real ideas/opinions at the door.
This class wasn't hard, we just had a lot of assignments. Every week included a discussion post and an assignment at the very minimum (some weeks included tests on top of that). This was probably my most work-heavy class. She was friendly and responded in a timely manner to questions.
I had this professor for Stress Management: Neuromuscular Relaxation class. I learned so much in this class and enjoyed it very much! There was homework and quizzes almost every week, but for me it was worth it. I would definitely take classes from her again.
Extremely unorganized/dates didn't match syllabus. I think she may have been a better professor in person rather than online. She had a very heavy work load-at least 2 assignments around 70 questions each (more if you get the questions wrong), a "weekly question" (usually quicker), and every other week was a test. On top of a few projects and notes
