she is not nice to her students, she makes you feel like you are one inch tall
I found the textbook more interesting than her lectures. She teaches strictly from her Powerpoint slides. I got an A but am glad I don't have to sit through another lecture.
She really sucks and it is verbatum from her powerpoint slides.
She sucks she schedules test the day after spring break. She is very hard and the test are very tricky she needs to realize that this is a basic course and ease up on what she goes over. She says "we dont have time to go over it but it is on the test
Only take this class if you have to. Her tests are ridiculous. She asks those arbitrary questions like, on page 375, line two what was the secund word...nothing relevant to learning maarketing. Shes not very friendly either.
I concur! She isn't very good. She is very knowledgable, but totally unflexible - and doesn't relate well enough to actually teach the material. She encourages brut memorization rather than absorbtion of knowledge.
she sticks with the pro copy notes and shows occassional videos. Watch out for extra credit..shes good on giving that depends?? Read the text for study examples. Study and understand all vocab and concepts bc the tests are tricky and can get confu
OMG that voice, I can't get the shrieking out of my head!
What the heck is going on in this teacher's mind? She is terrible, and her exams are crap. She does not know how to teach and she is even worse evaluating. Try not taking MAR 3023 at the Tampa campus, I think its worth to drive a little bit more.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS WOMAN!!! She is the worst teacher I have EVER had in the history of USF...Her exams are not of a INTRODUCTION level (which the class is) SHE SUCKS
I don't know if Professor Lafferty reads this or not, but I hope she does. So you can read this part.....You are the worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. You teach a coure that is known by all to be a basic course in marketing, yet you try your hardest to make it as difficult as poss
She is a horrible professor. She teaches like she is giving a lecture to professionals, not intro students!!! Tests are tough, and class is a big snooze fest! Bring lots of doodling paper if u go to class, which u should only because she gives ec sometimes.
If you go to class do all the extra credit it would be very hard to get anything less than a B. Class was 300 point she gave 20 extra credit points. Good Class if yo go to school.
She has a horrible monitone voice...shes boring, monotonous, and its extremely difficult to sit through her classes. Her tests are set up to make you confused. She asks stupid things like what is level 5 of the pyramid of awarness.... Marketing is supposed to be a cool class....with her its NOT!
She is a putz. She asks ridiculous questions about lame videos. The only thing good about the class was the FISH video, everythng else sucks.
Crabby and boring sums it up nicely. Tests are random and difficult. Also, her voice is very annoying to listen to!
The tests are horrible - Everything is fair game for them and she doesn't narrow down what you need to know (around 200 slides w/info on them as well as videos). Lectures are boring (keep a friend next to you to stay awake). At least she gives a lot of extra credit (she knows you'll need it).
dont take this class, she is annoying and her tests are stupid. After studying your balls off expect a 66 - 76 per test.
DR. Lafferty needs to re-evaluate her tests. I do not why she would try to confuse a class and make them less interested in Marketing. She is a lousy professor.
God I hated this class, the class average for every exam was a 64-67%!!!! She offers a ton of extra credit however, I raised an exam grade by 3 letter grades. The class can be summed up in one word, 'terrible'. Ugh.
Ugh! This was the worst class! Lafferty just reads word for word what is on her slides. Talk about monotone! Everything's fair game on her exams, even the ridiculous info. If I hear "I won't speak up, I don't want to lose my voice." one more time, I'LL SCREAM!!! Lots of extra credit though!
This class was extremely easy. Unless you're completely brain-dead, you should pass with an A. I didn't buy the textbook and just studied the pro-copy notes, which she fills in during class. If you have good attendance and a brain, you'll easily pass. Though, her slides need to be updated.
very monotone!! useless to do to class.. lots of extra credit.. BORING
Dont bother buying the text book. The test are hard but just study the procopy and you will do fine. She gives lots of extra credit so she makes it easy for anyone to pass.
This class is not difficult! Don't buy the book! She gives a ton of extra credit so take advantage. Her test questions can be tricky at times. Just study the procopy notes and try to make it to the majority of her lectures... you can just leave early if she beings to bore you to death.
Just study the procopy notes. Do not buy the book, study the study guides (jus the multiple choice) and make sure that answers are right. Very boring!! I don't think she cares about the students at all. Needs to update notes and some videos are fun (some 20%). Lots of extra credit.
I'm sure glad I didn't listen to some of these comments or I wouldn't have taken her class. In retrospect, I'm glad I did. I thought her power point slides were excellent and she gave plenty of examples to make the concepts clear. I'd recommend her class to others and take her again.
Easiest class I've EVER taken. Don't buy the text. Just read and study the Pro Copy notes and listen to most of the lectures in class. Tests are easy to pick out the correct multiple choice answer. She gives a lot of extra credit chances so you could earn a C on the tests but come out with a B or A with the extra credit.
Great Class! Great Teacher! Everything she teaches in class can be applied in the real world. The tests are not easy but there is plenty of extra credit to make up for it. She's funny and interesting.
took the summer course, VERY LITTLE extra credit!Class seemed easy, she knows the subject, too long with no breaks and pretty boring, classroom was freezing and tests were difficult. If you study the material extensively you will do well.
Took her basic marketing. She is totally hot. Reasons for going to class is to watch her move around the stage. Will take her class again if I hadn't graduated.
Pretty dull material, she tries but she is naturally monotone. Be prepared to EXACTLY memorize the terms for the test, which is totally trick questions and memorization. Any videos take notes and memorize also.
She taught straight from power point which you buy from the store but then the test can cover things in the book that sometimes she didn't mention. She was horrible. I took the class w/stephanie boyer and she is amazing.

She enjoys teaching so her classes aren't boring. You will need the text and the Pro Copy notes to walk away with an A. If you aren't interested in an A, you can study the Pro Copy notes only and still get a high C or a B because lots of the test answers are intuitive.
She lectures straight from the PowerPoint slides so be sure to have the ProCopy notes. I opened the textbook one time the entire semester and still passed with an A-. Class can be boring at times but the advertisements and videos are usually interesting.
Second time I had her...definitely better than the first. She gets more personal in classes of 30 and opposed to 300. However, same thing...she reads directly from the slides and I wasted $100 buying the book.
Blah! The actual work isn't too hard but she is a horrid woman.
I thought she was really good the second time around. She is alot more personable with a class of 30 instead of 300. Her tests are not as bad as in Basic and she is fair.
She was not too bad for promotions (dont bother getting the book), but she was horrible for basic marketing
Great class. She is very straightforward. You will learn in class. The tests are all from the powerpoints so dont buy the book. Def recommended. And there are no useless projects, so all you have to really do all sem is take the two tests.
She's a good teacher in that she knows her subject very well and can explain it. She says the tests are all from Procopy but I would strongly recommend reading the book for added clarity. The notes will tell you most of the definitions but not all of them.
This teacher is so boring. Lectures are horrible and long. Try to take someone else, her tests are hard and not what she says they will be. If you want an A, get the book and study that and her procopy notes. If you are good with a B, just review her procopy notes.
I felt like I studied good for the tests and even thought I had a good grade after taking them, but when the scores came back they were bad. I got a low C with a lot of studying. Something is wrong with her tests. I deserved better than a C.
Boring class, but easy. Just go to class and take notes following the procopy notes and you can atleast get a B to an A. Not hard at all
Easy class. Powerpoints give lots of examples. The tests make you think but they are fair. Study the ProCopy notes and you should get at least a B.
The most BORING class of my 3 yrs @ USF!! It is not hard, but monotonous and so is the professor. She dresses the same each day and talks the same as well. Take good notes along with the pro-copy notes and you will do just fine.
I really enjoyed the class, but I'm a marketing major. Lots of ads to illustrate topics. I heard complaints about her tests, but they were right from her lectures. You still have to study pretty hard to get an A but it is doable. It was one of the better large lecture classes I've had at USF.
I wish I could have done better than a C, since my major is Marketing...but the lectures are so boring (all powerpoint) and the test are based more off of the book than the lecture. I was 2 points from a B, but she definately doesn't show any mercy when it comes to points. The extra credit (16 pts)is the only thing that helped me pass the class.
SO EASY! I took her during the summer and I highly recommend it! She cut all the useless stuff and the info load wasn't much. Just study her lectures, DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! Her tests were fairly easy, as along as you read over the slides you will be fine. Her lectures are very organized, straight forward, and clear.
Easy, but class was boring powerpoint lectures which tests are taken from. I know people that never opened their book. Have to do 1 easy powerpoint presentation in front of class on an article, tests and material are easy, she's very nice and clear, I'd take her again.
I had her for both Basic & Promotions Management. her style doesn't change! the same old boring lecture of just reading off the slides & 3 exams on terms. I wish she were more like Mrs. Panzer or Mrs. Solomon and actually had a project for Promotion Management since its a senior level class and terms are going to get you nowhere without a portfolio
Easy easy easy! Took her over the summer and it was a breeze! Just buy the notebook with powerpoint slides, DON'T buy the textbook! If you study the slides, you should get a decent grade. Lectures are straight forward and common sense. The prof was pretty cool!
Lafferty is a robot, but I really like her. She covers the material very well and gives excellent examples. Don't buy the book; she has a ProCopy Bible. Buy that and go to class to take notes/fill in blanks. I'd recommend making a friend in that class in case you miss something. Her tests are based completely on the lectures.
Worst teacher in the Marketing Department. Teaches her senior level class just the same as basic marketing. She could do so much better like have the students do actual marketing/ad campaigns. She could learn so much from Ms. Panzer or Mrs. Solomon they really know how to teach. What a shame that she waisted my time 2x (Basic Marketing and Promo.)
Definitely take her. At times, this class may drive you crazy, but really, it's easy. If you get a good group, and put in just a little effort, you'll come out with an A. I would definitely recommend her to everyone. Online Quizzes every other week, and group presentations on the in between weeks, really casual though. Not hard at all. Take her!!!
This class is based on one huge group project that runs throughout the entire semester. There are no tests or a final. A final presentation is due + you take 6 online quizzes + class participation. The quizzes comes straight from the lectures and are not that difficult. Each component takes time so make sure you get it done early so you won't stres
Promotions MGT. A lot of work in this class, i spent about 10 hours a week with my group doing a project. We had a test or a presentation that our group had to do EVERY week. I got an A in the class but i had to work really hard. An A in her class is a 93. If you are not a hard worker do not take her class. I learned a lot in her class!
I took her during the summer, 3 tests all based mostly on procopy and 2 or 3 q's on lecture. the xtra credit was given in the exams as questions. very boring and only reads from the slides, the material seems very repetitive.
She's a nice person, just very, very dull. Doesn't give students the chance to apply what they learned. Learning from powerpoint slides does not enhance my learning as much as much as actually applying the material by doing a project or something along those lines.
I took her night course. It is worth taking. Better than the other professors for PROMOTION. Not for basic marketing.
She knows her stuff, just has a hard time relaying it to students. When she asks questions and gets one she is not expecting, she has a hard time answering. The whole class is based on her powerpoints. 3 tests, and no project to apply what you learned. I didn't take much away from this class.
Very nice woman. Easy class. Lectures not too boring. Just go to class and listen and the tests will be easy. No project, just 3 multiple choice exams. There are extra credit opportunities. I would definitely take her again!
buy pp notes from pro-copy or pring out yourself. Must pay attention during class and add to notes she gives. Read chapters in book and thats your tests (pp and book). 3 tests and thats it..oh yeah and 10% grade attendance so dont take if your not going to be there. Lots of useful info if your going into marketing.
Took Promo in the summer, I woudn't take it then if you have another class and work FT. Very time consuming. There's quiz every week based on her online lecture, print the PP slides, textbook not really needed. Interesting because you create a plan for a 501-3c. If you have a team with less members or a slacker on your team you are screwed.
I took her for Promotional it was an easy class just buy pro-copy notes and read the chapters in the text book. We just had 3 exams and she does offers extra credit. Over all great class.
I took her for Promotional Management and it was an overall good class. There are only 3 exams and she offers extra credit. Buy procopy notes and read the book.
She can get annoying when classes drag on. I never studied the book, only the power points, and got A's on her exams. No cumulative final, which is nice! We had an exam on Valentine's Day, which was ridiculous. If you can take it with someone else, do it. If not, you'll be fine, you just won't love it...
*Avoid this professor if you can* There are 3 presentations, and the she speaks for about 15 minutes a class. The rest of your time will be spent watching movies you could've watched at home. She likes to take participation points with no explanation for why, and docs points when she makes your group run over time because she's talking to students.
I didn't get much out of her class. 90% is watching videos. There are 3 presentations and she is a very picky grader. She took the lowest of your evaluations from the class/her, and seemed more concerned with presentation skills than the material covered. Her cases were good but all of them were from 2002..I wonder when the class was last updated?
It was nice to get this class over in a month, but I consistently felt throughout the class that the material could have been taught a lot better. Most of the cases ere out of date and there was very little instruction. Lots of movies, most of which we saw before (the story of stuff, etc.).
Everyone was really disappointed in this class. She grades presentations on miscellaneous items like font size instead of quality and will take points off if you go 1 minute over on an hour long presentation when she's talking to a student. Not a graduate level course..maybe it was ten years ago but not now. And she doesn't look like that picture.
Didn't learn much but it was easy. Sustainability is important to me and the subject matter was interesting so I thought the class would be great. We ended up watching a lot of movies I had already seen though (who killed the electric car, the story of stuff, etc.) If you want to learn I would take a different class for sustainability.
Worst graduate course ever. Waste of time and tuition. You pay to watch movies you could've watch on Youtube. Take another class if at all possible....
She keeps this class pretty interested (I'm taking her class this summer), and she does a good job relating the topics to current subjects. Also, I liked that a lot of the videos and ads that we saw were from when I was a kid or growing up, which was a nice trip down memory lane. Haven't finished the class yet, but I will probably have a B+ or A
This teacher is super boring. She teaches every class in a low unsettled voice that makes you want to fall asleep. Three exams all made up from her lectures that she doesn't even make clear. Not an example of a good teacher.
I found some of her lectures very interesting, but very long. It was hard to stay awake. She just reads off of every powerpoint. Exams were terrible but straight from her powerpoints. No homework, just 3 exams. No one ever participated but me so i felt bad. Easy class but very dull. Dont buy the textbook, everythig is on powerpoint
Group project from hell. Has very strong opinions and if you disagree you're probably not going to do well. Lectures were long and painful. Gave zero feedback until the very end so you had no idea how you were doing the entire semester.
Worst teacher I've had at USF.
Get ready to watch long videos with a monotone old lady voice. She will try everything in her power to make you fail since she's the only professor at the school that teaches the class. This lady has no heart and sucks at teaching.
This class isn't as difficult as the other marketing courses but to me, it is one of the most interesting. The only downfall is her lectures are quite boring.
Took her online class and it was not that bad. There is no assignments or group projects, only exams and each exam is on 3-4 chapters. Yes the lectures are boring but almost all the test questions comes from there so just make sure to watch them and pay attention and you'll get an easy A.
