i had this professor years ago and she is the one prof still in my mind from CCAC and I am now graduating from a four year school. Sheis great. you learn a lot and do a bunch of labs.

She is an amazing teacher! Like the others have said... after all this time, her class still sticks out in my mind as one of the most ENJOYABLE and INTERESTING! Not an "easy" class (she expects you to do your part) but definatley a great class to take!

The class is incredibly easy, she goes in depth explaining everything to make sure we all understand before moving on. There are weekly quizzes, and you have to memorize a lot of terminology, but overall it is ok. The tests are even easier, they are mostly multiple choice and matching. You learn fairly well and can get a good grade too.

Professor Lax is one of the best teachers I have had. She makes sure that all her students acquire the knowlege needed and her lectures are absolutly wonderful. I would recommend her to any student wishing to take anatomy.

SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! I would reccomend her for anyone that has to take A&P. She makes it easy for you to understand the material and she is ALWAYS available to explain things to you if you don't understand and she'll explain it until you do understand. I will miss her very much actually and I wish she taught every nursing class too!!!

Had he for Life Science, she made me change me major from art so science I loved her class so much. Favorite teacher ever, crystal clear, very factual, visual person would highly recommend!!!

Dr. Lax is a great teacher. Not the easiest that is for sure, but if you dont mind doing the work you will get alot out of this professor.

She's awesome. Took her for summer sessions, her clarity is great, she goes over it until you get it, and teaches the subject, not a personality class. To the point, I will remember what I have learned forever! PS she xeroxes her own 'textbook' and it only costs $7.50.

She'll help you as much as you need the only thing you HAVE TO ATTEND LAB !! your graded in lab but its easy and fun she loves to disect rats . you'll learn so much TAKE HER

Dr. Lax is the BEST teacher that I have had at CCAC. I totally understand everything she lectures on. She makes you want to come to class and learn. Plus, she writes her own books for lecture and lab, $7 total. Not to mention she dresses very nice! Take her for complete understanding of AP Biology! She's the best!

Dr. Lax is the best teacher in the school, hands down. She is extremely helpful, and it excellent at putting notes up on the board. She even has her own book that breaks complicated anatomy down to make it simple. Must not be lazy. If you study, it will be easy. If not, it will be hard. Great teacher!

Dr Lax is One of the Greatest teachers i have ever had anywhere! I took dr sidun at ccac also and his class was rediculously hard and way to much info at one time! dr lax breaks everything down in a way where its understandable. Also her book is like 7 bux and its perfect to study!! I would take her again in heartbeat !

Best teacher I have ever had. You have a quiz every friday and they help so much. It forces you to study as you go. They are only 10 questions and pretty easy. It is a nice way to build up your grade and get some extra, easy points. She has you buy her text book which is only like 5 bucks, and her book is way more helpful than a text book.

Dr. Lax is the best instrucotor I have had in any of my classes. I took her for A&P1 and A&P2..she is very helpful and explains things so you can understand them. Tests and quizzes are fair..she prepares you for everything you need to know! Must put time into studying the material that you learn in class! Highly recommend this instructor!!

I took her in the spring of 2010 and she was such a great professor! Loved that her book and lab book were not expensive! She makes everything clear as to what will be on quizzes and tests! I wish I could have her again! =]

I took first summer at A&P 1 with her and absolutely loved it! She is super fair! And the text book is her own that she wrote super cheap!! As long as you study for the quizzes the test are easy!! Super super good teacher!! Loved the class

I learned more in Prof Lax's class than I have ever learned in any other class. She is my inspiration and the reason I switched my major to Nursing. Extremely clear, cheap books, I actually looked forward to each class AND the labs! Lab dissections were quick ,always interesting and to the point. By far best teacher ive ever had

I was lucky to have Dr. Lax for A&P 1 and 2. Her classes are easy IF you take the time to study and read the material. She's a wonderful professor because really breaks the information in way that you can understand and she goes at a normal pace when she teaches. She tells you what will be on most of the test and quizzes. She's fair with grades.

Her books cost $7. Yes, $7. She weed out the junk and teaches the important stuff you need. Easy to understand. Exams are easy, multiple choice. Quizzes are hard. I got A's on all my exams but did badly quizzes. Quiz questions are read out by Lax and you write down answer. Answer has to be precise. Study for quiz to win. Very recommended.

Awesome course! I have never been good in any biology courses, and 161 was my first class since HS 5 years ago. I had never taken A&P before, but Dr. Lax is VERY passionate and educated about the subject. I learned SO much,and I also studied ALOT. I can't wait to see her in 162; I am not taking other classes just so I could be in her section!

I have had Dr. Lax for both AP1 & AP2. She not only makes her own cheaper version of the book, but she cuts out all the unnecessary technical language and teaches it as simply as can be done. She will also give you the quiz questions during lecture so that you know what to study and is very friendly, approachable. Show up and study you'll do well.

She teaches in a way that makes the material very bearable & as interesting as possible. Her class requires a lot of studying to do well, BUT it forces you to actually LEARN & RETAIN the information which is absolutely necessary for anyone going into nursing! She cares about the students. She even made an outlined version of the book for just $20!

I took several classes with Dr. Lax about 10 years ago. I'm now a veterinarian and even though I've had many good professors over the years she is still my favorite. I've always been interested in biology and such, but I believe it was her love for the subjects that ultimately lead me to my career. If you work hard you can learn so much from her.

Great class. I'm finishing up her A&P2 class now and I'm not going to lie it has been difficult, but she's an amazing teacher. She's so passionate and she wants to see her students do well. Studying is a must but it's very helpful. If you're going into nursing you need to know this stuff and she makes that clear. I would recommend to anyone.

She is tough but one of the best teachers I have ever had. Follow her rules, study hard and you'll do well. Her quiz's are all comprehensive, only 10-15 points and if you miss part of the question, it's wrong, no partial credit with her. She wrote her own book , she knows her stuff and has a sense of humor! I highly recommend Dr. Lax!

There are A LOT of verbal quizzes. She'll ask a question out loud and you have to write the answer down. There's also A LOT of material to study. The final is cumulative, which sucks, but the weekly quizzes will help your grade. Its hard to maintain a work ethic in this class because every time you finish a quiz, you have to start studying again :(

The best teacher I have ever had! Made her own version of the textbook so it is clear and easy to understand. Makes flow charts for everything to make it simple to understand. Lots of notes (mostly in her book already). I made flashcards of all the charts. Study study study. Amazing teacher, always has alternative ways of explaining subjects.

She is very nice but her class is really difficult. Even all of the studying I would do would never be enough. It is nice though she makes her own textbook and it's cheap. Her quizzes really messed me up. There's no parial credit if you miss a part of the question its wrong. Overall if you take her brace yourself for a long, tough 16 weeks.

Fantastic and extremely talented teacher ! Her lectures are clear and concise. She makes her own AP notebook which is much cheaper than the books required by other professors. She supports her lectures with slides and writings on the chalk board. She gives 10 questions pop quizzes and expect you to study the material. I really enjoyed her class!

One of the best professor's I've ever had, very straight to the point in what you need to know for the test. The quizzes, which are somewhat tough and completely written actually help you learn for the exam. Also one of the best lectures i've ever had, and she knows how to make the class interesting.

Hands down the best teacher Ive ever had in my life. I can't stress how much I respect her. She WANTS you to do good but you have to put the work in and study. She is not like other teachers that advance in their schooling that talk about it all the time even though she is more than qualified to do so. Take her clas you can tell she enjoys her job

Dr. Lax uses her own textbooks that basically summarize what she's teaching in class and from the actual textbook. They're cheap and highlight only the important stuff. She gives a lot of quizzes but gives you all the possible question ahead of time (so she's strict with grading). She's also really helpful with study tips

I had Prof Lax years ago for A&P, incredible teacher. I highly recommend taking her class if you can. I have since graduated from Pitt w/ a BSN in nursing and I still think of her as one of my top 2 favorite teachers. If you pay attention and follow along and keep up w/ studying you will do well and learn a ton.

Dr. Lax is a tough teacher, but she is fair and makes sure you understand the material. I took her A & P 1 over the summer in 6 weeks and her 16 week A & P 2 class and a absolutely feel like I learned. It was challenging in a good way. She writes her own book that summarizes the material. Excellent professor!

Dr. Lax is the most incredible teacher i've ever had. Her textbooks are $15, she wrote them herself. Her class is great for anyone going into health professions. she teaches fluids & electrolytes in a way that anyone can understand which plays a critical part in the nursing program. She draws flow charts & tells you EXACTLY what will be on tests.

Omg!!! Dr. Lax is literally the BEST professor out. She teaches in so many different ways all in one for every kind of learner . She draws uses flow charts and uses different colors. Gives you quiz questions so quizzes are fair and easy. You must study. Lab is easy as well. Not many test but a lot of 10 question quizzes. It is bearable.

Dr Lax tells you EXACTLY what will be on the tests & what answers she's looking for. If you show up to class, pay attention, take notes, and make time at home to study those notes you will do well. I have a 99% doing those 4 things. She also makes a big effort to relate the content to real life applications and to different health professions.

Dr. Lax teaches to prepare you for entry into a program that demands accurate, thorough knowledge of A&P-including Acid/Base, electrolytes, fluids. She is easily understood, fair, gives the grade that you earn, cares about your success-so long as YOU do. Take her for both 1 & 2. She is an awesome, inspiring, relevant, funny, mentor and teacher.

Amazing teacher!!

I absolutely love Dr. Barb! This class is my absolute favorite and Im taking her again for ap2. Shes so smart and knows her stuff! I love lectures; she quizzes often but thats her method to make sure were on top of our studies.

Now, this is a teacher!! She actually teaches you! You will learn, comprehend and retain because she explains so thoroughly. She makes her own textbook and it's super cheap and doesn't fill your head with the stuff you don't need. I am so glad I took her for AP2, wish I took her for AP1 instead of the joker I had.

Omg I am going to miss her so much. If every professor taught the way she did there is no reason you would fail. She tries her best not to make things hard but if it hard she has no problem explaining the material to you until you fully understand. I wish she taught the nursing courses because she would be the professor id take.
