On contrary, very good, very helpful, very understanding
No Comments
she knows her stuff, but her class is very very hard. try to avoid this one.
Watch out, she totally loves Freud.
Her class is a little hard, she is helpful and really likes psych.
pwer pt lectrs. ok tests, just read chpts & u b fine.
terrible-not helpful and makes one feel intimiated
Confusing MC questions on exams(could be 2 answers)don't know what she is asking. Makes you do essay before you can get MC.Prof. not receptive to students questioning what she has said or done.
great teacher, enthusiastic and funny. a great teacher for 8am class. go to class and u b fine. MC a lil.confusing, but she is understanding. Take her!!
She is a great teacher, but it is a hard subject. She is sooo helpful and tries to make it as painless as possible. Didn't think MC was confusing.
Great Teacher. Wants students to know the subject and wants to know everyones name. Humorous at times, but always on the ball. I Would definitely recommend.
Freud
she makes the subject harder than it should. She is unorganized so you really don't know what will be on the quizes or tests. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Great professor. Really cares about whether or not students actually learn. You do not need the book for this class. Just buy the lecture notes and go to class. Do not take this class if you don't plan on going...you will fail.
Very helpful, understanding, and interested in the students.
If you want to do the work she is great! You really have to read the book but there were good class discussions and she was sweet. Also allows you to do a presentation to make up points missed on quizzes. She also lets you argue the points missed on tests
makes an interesting subject boring. all powerpoint notes. note taking ALL class, every class. i would not take her if possible.
Very good teacher and helps you when you need it. Be careful of the Lab TA's (they were HORRIBLE!)There is no way to fail this class, she even said so!!
I thought she was great. Just do the reading and the study sheet she gives before each test and you'll have an easy A!!!! She's also a really sweet lady and has a lot of interesting things to say about a boring subject.
She is a very nice and helpful teacher. I agree with one of the other comments, she makes the topic more interesting. It's a lot of work but, you won't mind doing it for this class.
She is a very interesting professor. She helps the students and offers fun and interesting assignments. She really gets the students involved in the class
I like Dr Mcdonald. She is understanding to her students and very helpful. She is an interactive teacher and cares about her students.
Professor McDonald is very passionate about the subject. She enjoys teaching it and wants students to actually understand the material. She can be a bit unorganized but she is very helpful. She wants you to do well in the class. The tests are challenging.
so sweet and cute!! she wants her students to do well and is very helpful. her tests are MC and a LOT of short answer. the MC is straight forward, and the short answer are more applied. you will leave that class having learned something.
she was great. it was a hard topic but she didn't really believe in deadlines- you could turn in everything late and still get full credit. she just wants everyone to do well. Fairly easy tests too!!
Very good teacher. She seems to really care about the students and is always willing to help. She has powerpoint lectures for notes every lecture so be sure not to miss class. Tests are kinda hard...gives study guides though.
I have had her for two different classes and she really is one of the better professors in the psych department. You can usually anticipate which questions she will use for the tests, which are multiple choice and short answer. She is extremely helpful.
Read the Book! SHe is very energetic and makes lectures interesting. Fun class overall
She tries to hint as to what is going to be on the test but it doesnt help much when the tests are trick ?'s
GREAT teacher! very clear on what she wants, not a very easy class but doable because she really trys to help her students, one of the best psychology teachers i have had! made me interested in research
Lets you talk to her and get extra points on tests if you can show her you know what you're talking about.
Beautiful human being. She is interested in help students. Hard class, but she makes it less dramatic. Take notes and read the book, she gives you extra-points on exams. There's only two psy 301 prof, but she is the best.
Trick questions are in the eye of the beholder. McDonald is fair, clear, and helps above and beyond what an instructor should.
She is very nice and very helpful. She always wants to help her students with any problems they have. An easy teacher, she lectures all the important material, so you don't need the book. She's awesome! Very friendly!
Really nice professor! She is really helpful and not to tough about grading. Make sure to go to class and read...you get points for some assignments done in class.
Very good teacher - clear, concise and helpful. Many interesting stories that help remember the stuff and conversations are welcome. Nice person with many expriences and knowledge about the world.
She was a great teacher. She is alway willing to help and very important to go to her office hours it shows her you are eager to learn. Take her!
Very hard subject... but very good teacher. Really helps students out. Recomend her.
Excellent prof, class was power-point with alot of discussion. tests were multiple choice with essay, but she grades easy. the multiple choice q's were a bit difficult but she throws out the ones that a lot of people mess up on. very likeable and helpful. if you do bad on test you can talk up grade
One of the best professors I've ever had. She cares about her students and is an excellent teacher. Goes above and beyond to help you succeed.
Great professor.she makes learning research fun.her test can be hard, m/c and essay.study her notes and case studies from the text and you should be fine.to pass her test you have to understand the concepts.no math involve in this class.always willing to help her students pass her class.
Take her if you must take Psy 301!! People begged to crash her course because the other Psy 301 prof was so unclear and hard to follow. She's a wonderful and caring professor who goes way out of her way to help students. Show up every day and read the chapters and you'll pass.
Great Professor. She's very helpful. She is very clear on what she expects. The book is a must and very easy to read.
This was my favorite class this semester. She is a great prof and the class is fun and entertaining. Her tests are kinda hard but there are easy assignments to help bring up your grade. Overall, awesome prof and class.
absolutly wonderful professor! clear and consistent on what she want's, very educational.
She was my professor for Psy 351. I know she's teaching Psy 230 next semester. It would have been great if she would have taught this class when I enrolled in it. Definitely take her class instead of Scollay's.
800am class over summer. but she still made the class interesting & worth going to, plus extra credit quizzes. tests are pretty easy just know lecture notes and case studies in the book. no projects or papers
made class fun even though the subject can be boring
she rocks and talks with you if you talk her, she is a very good person rspect her.
One of the best professors at SDSU. She expects a lot from you but she is very helpful and cares about her students. Take her if you are willing to learn, you have to take time to study the material. You will enjoy her class!!!
great professor, really cares about her students. 3 tests (no cumulative final but you do need to know main points from whole class, not hard) will give you points on your test if you go talk to her, easy project, easy 20 pt quiz. i recommend taking her i loved her!
I found the lectures to be disorganized, but you can't complain about her willingness to assist. Material is better learned reading the book than going to lecture. Very nice and cares about her students.
Take her! offers the opportunity to raise your test scores, I have not heard of another instructor that does that, truly cares about us students. She's very nice and she goes slow enough for the students to understand the concepts. Her tests are some-what hard but they are manageable. Must read all chapters. No trick questions on exams or quizes
Very hard class. McDonald was helpful and nice, but only to those she chose to be nice to.
She is so nice, tells you the answers on tests if you go ask her. Provides study guides. Just study her lectures don't have to read. Multiple choice test. Intersting material. Likes class participaters - trust me take her.
This class is time consuming but not difficult. Dr. McDonald is a very nice lady and very willing to help in any way she can. Sometimes her notes are a little confusing and you definitely need to read parts of the book but nothing that you can't live through.
fun class, if you go to lecture you don't have to read the book. nice, helpful, tries to make the class interesting. Everyone should take her!
She is an amazing teacher. I highly recommned her. If you have to take this class pick her! Her lectures are interesting and she is very easy to talk to. I don't have enough nice things to say about this professor!!!!!!!!!!
Great teacher, lectures were interesting. Would recommend taking her.
Don't listen to any of the + comments. While she's not necessarily a difficult teacher (the material isn't difficult so no one could be), she's very loopy. Her lectures follow the book, but don't mention exactly what you need to learn, so you have to read EVERYTHING. But you can't skip on lecture either, since some exam ?'s come from notes.
Had 2 midterms and cumulative final. All test are M/C and Essay. Essay needs to be very detailed. Quizes almost weekly. Doesn't lecture enough to take test so you have to read the book but you also have to go to class for the quizes and group asssignmnents. Really passionate about the topic goes off track from lecture alot. I'd take someone else.
she is really interesting, i loved attending classes. As long as you get all of her lecture notes, and study them, you will get an A. The tests are somewhat hard, but the essays are easy to get full credit. I would reccommend her to anyone!
Very nice woman and really interested in the success of her students. If you have any problems, she is very easy to talk to and tries her best to inform her students about the test topics and essays though her tests are not the easiest tests in the world--you'll have to review all notes. Gives opportunities for xtra credit too.
nice teacher, interesting class. i took it in summer session and it was very fun. I cant say the exams are very easy but you will be fine if you review all of your notes from the lectures. she offers some extra credits too. If you dont know which class to take for the Upper GE class, take her!
Nice prof, some short writing assignments to turn in, tests are pretty difficult, doesn't take roll, subject is somewhat interesting.
Good class. You will use your text book and need to attend class, but the class isn't too difficult. She is funny and makes a dull subject interesting.
It's not a hard class but her teaching style is kind of boring. I went every day and would practically fall asleep. She asks us a lot of annoying questions like we're in kindergarten but it's easy
Good professor, print lecture notes off blackboard and fill in the blanks during lecture. tests are pretty hard, and an easy paper. the book is helpful when studying for the test.
There are 3 tests, with about 40 multiple choice questions and then a definition section of about 6 definitions from the notes. She provides notes and you fill them in from her power points. The book is just for reference. You write one easy 3 page paper, and there are about 7 in class assigntments that are super easy. She always lets out early.
She is a cool teacher. Very helpful and will change grade if can prove deserve points on short answer questions. 3 test, not cumulative, no final, easy paper. In class assignments (will boost grade) so go to class. She makes it interesting anyways. Read half the book and still did well.
She cares about her students, and her lectures are intersting. Most test questions come from in-class notes, so you do not need the book, but you do need to come to class. The in-class assignments will hurt your grade if you aren't there for them. Don't miss the panel discussions either, so interesting!
She's a really nice teacher and the panels are interesting. Her random assignments are annoying and the class itself is pretty boring, but she does the best she can to make it interesting. I'd definately recommend her.
she is a nice lady but she generalizes people too much. class was a little boring but not a tough class as long as you take notes. has group activities in class that you get points for so you should try to go to class
Honestly one of the best professors i've had at state. Must go to class to keep up. The lab is kind of annoying, but what can you do. Got and A- without buying the textbook. She is great and really wants her students to do well. VERY helpful. Omits test questions that were too confusing.
Really nice lady. Keeps you engaged. Got to class for the random assignments. Panels are interesting. She offers extra credit throughout semester. I didn't buy the book, just went to class everyday and the study sessions and I got a B.
Had her for Psy 301, 230, and 331. We were a good class-she almost lost hope in teaching-she's very nice-she probably knows me very well...Only take it if you are committed. Repay her with the same respect...I don't want her to lose that hope again.
I think that she taught very well and it's very much a class of life lessons. I wish I had studied with more concentration but I robbed myself a bit of the time. But even without the book, if you go to class, you will be fine :)
I LOVED this cute little lady. don't need the book at all, just go to class and get the notes. 3 tests, 1 group assignment, and 6 separate unannounced in-class assignments. the test is STRAIGHT from the notes. easy class as long as you go.
She is a great teacher, but she expects you to know a lot of information for her tests. I would still reccomend her tho.
I definitely recommend professor McDonald. The class is fairly easy, but it takes some work. Just attend every class, take notes and then study them for the test. You'll have opportunities for extra credit as well.
The lectures were very interesting. I enjoyed the class discussions. Her tests were okay. I thought some of the questions were confusing or too detailed. I still got a B+ in the class though. Study the lectures, but also refer to the book for further information.
Professor McDonald was amazing. I did not think research methods would be fun at all, but she made class fun. The tests were hard but she is willing to work with you to gain extra points, she has a great personality and a positive attitude. I would highly recommend her. One of the best teachers I have had here at SDSU!
Very good teacher! Tests are fair. Class is not boring. She is a super sweet lady! I love her!
she is a super sweet lady! cracks funny jokes. group assignments in class every class, so you have to go to every class, they are easy. tests are easy as long as you know all her lecture notes. her study guides were not helpful. dont waste ur time. did not use book once. very interesting subject. never bored.
i loved the class
Great teacher. Really cares about students. Extremely willing to teach. ONe of my favorites at State.
AMAZING professor!!! Probably one of my favorites at state. The class itself is challenging but as long as you read and show up everyday you'll get an A. She is extremely helpful and makes research fun and the assignments are not bad at all :)
Best Teacher of SDSU!
Very sweet lady. She goes out of her way to get to know you. Come to class everyday and show you're interested and she will really like you. Really wants you to get a good grade. The class was not a piece of cake; however, her lectures are mostly based on her 3 tests. Deff recommend her for any class she teaches.
It is a hard class, but Prof McDonald goes above and beyond to see that her students succeed. Gives study guides 2 exams and cumulative final.
She is easy to follow in class but make sure you buy the book. A large portion of the assignments and all the exams are based off the books.
she's a sweetheart!!! take her if you have the chance, she's really caring about her students and is there to help you out if you need help. Great Professor, highly recommend!
She is a funny lady with good stories. Really easy class if you go to lectures and take notes. Study guides say read the book but then on the exams there are no questions from the book. So my advice is don't buy the book. Attendance not mandatory but you have five random class discussions worth points. Three online quizzes. Two short papers.
i really enjoyed this class, take her if you get a chance
She's speaks kind of low so it's hard to hear but she puts up notes on blackboard before the class that are fill-ins that follow her powerpoints. Just pay attention to when she switches slides, fill in your notes and do the study guides before the tests and you'll be golden.gives 2 essays that are a piece of cake and group discussions so go to clas
Dr. McDonald is a great professor: very experienced, friendly, and helpful. She cares for her students, is open-minded, and accommodating. She will make you feel comfortable, regardless of your prior stats or research experience. She is funny, too. Take her!
easy B. she's friendly and helpful. not much else to say because there's nothing fascinating about her but nothing bad either. take this class.
She's nice and the class is interesting. Not interesting enough to wake up at 8 AM twice a week though. There's random in-class discussions and the textbook is a bit dry, so I'd recommend going to class.
I found her class really interesting! I never missed it once, even though it was at 8am, which is saying a lot! She gives random in class discussions which are easy points, so go to class! the papers she assigns are also super easy. I would recommend taking her class!
Very understanding and helpful. Accomodating to students with disabilities. I definitely recommend her. Buy the book, you will need it.
Great teacher, super helpful. However, I found the tests to be slightly difficult. The class requires a lot of thinking and studying but it was very enjoyable.
Amazing professor, amazing class! This class is a perfect preparation for grad school. Make sure you don't have a heavy course load when you take it cause it's pretty work intensive. Dr. McDonald is wonderful and does everything to help her students do well and succeed!
Very good teacher. Highly recommend. Not the easiest class, Pay attention to everything she says. It will be on the test. Study and you will be fine.
Read assigned material ahead of time to better understand lecture. Exams are based on both book and lecture, so definitely buy the book. Overall if you study alot and know the difference b/w the different theories (ist) and how they relate, you will do good.
