I took her Learning how to learn MOOC at coursera and believe me it was the best decision I took. Not only does she teach with enthusiasm, she is critical of which issues to teach on, on the topic of how to learn. Love her !

You have to be crazy if you don't pass EGR 260 with Dr. Oakley. She's super nice and helpful. No exams, online class once a week. There's an in-class quiz and 1-2 moodle quizzes every week, though, but they aren't hard by any means. The labs for this class are a joke, but Dr. Oakley doesn't have anything to do with them. Just be forewarned.

Barbara has made a wonderful course, which unraveled some major obstacles for me. Teaching methods used the consolidation principles taught in the course and they work well. well done coach

Dr. Oakley is an exceptional instructor. Her style of teaching is designed to get the information you need. She is a true pro. I have had many instructors, professors and trainers - and as a senior student, I can assure you, she is absolutely top notch.

Barbara Oakley is such a good teacher who uses the principles she teaches in her practice. She has inspired me to teach these principles to students at school. It was so nice to be able to share in this learning, even being thousands of kilometers from San Diego.

Took it at MCC university center and Oakley is great! All of her lectures are basically online and the homework is online so basically the class is an online course. Only have to go to class once a week but you must attend because there's a quiz every week. Let's you use cheat sheets. Take her!

Just finished her "Learning How to Learn" MOOC and is taking "Mindshift". Her explanations are very clear, the images and videos use really catch my attention and also give more insight to the content. The tests are based on what she teaches.

I really enjoyed taking this course on line. It's been very informative, especially the part about the two different learning patterns. I do take longer to learn a new skill but once I have mastered it I get flashes of insights from my different chunks. I have a new appreciation and respect to how I process information. The teachers were awesome.

She was caring and kind, I felt very comfortable during the lectures as she created a "safe" place to learn, where mistakes and questions were a natural part of the process.

I enjoyed the course, it made good and clear connections between the science of the human brain, and how to take advantage of the things we know about learning. It also managed to clear up some old practises in learning that is still recommended by many, but may not be as useful as claimed.

Ms Oakley speaks clearly, confidently and uses valious resourses. She is also fun and effective.

She's pleasant to watch and listen to. She's engaging and speaks clearly and content is clearly explained. Good examples, metaphors and quizzes. Good mix of graphics to explain concepts and make the videos more interesting. And seems like she really cares about what she's teaching and cares about helping others achieve their full potential.

It is the first course on Coursera which I have completed and that too 2 weeks early. It has given me some great tips and tools to improve time organization and learning effectively. The course provides helpful tips on improving test scores, coming out of traps of illusions of competence, and many more obstacles that hamper our learning.

Very valuable insights on how the brain works, how that affects the way you learn or don't learn, depending on the techniques you use. The methodologies are all backed up scientifically by the institute of neuroscience. This course immediately impacted my learning capabilities and effectivity whilst obtaining my MBA. Great stuff!

Dr. Barb has very good prepared her course, which is very interesting and quite useful.

One professor came through loud and clear on the video portions. The other professor was more soft spoken and I had some trouble hearing. Some analogies I had trouble understanding. Some of the wording of questions I felt did not flow well and I had a hard time understanding what was being asked. The word "Chunk" and Chunking distracted me.

Very good video lectures. Not boring at all. Shares personal experiences.

I took her course online through Coursea and found the subject matter easy to follow, helpful, and applicable to real-life. I wish I had this class,; Learning How To Learn, as I would have made better choices in class. Highly recommend for help with learning.

As a retired educator, I was impressed by the poise, friendliness and overall accessible delivery of Professor Barbara Oakley. If I were training teachers, I would suggest that you watch her. The pace of her speech and the well-prepared content and pace are a pleasure to see, especially for non-English speakers. All students need this knowledge!

Mrs. Oakley proved herself to be such an extraordinary lecturer: in two simple words, I'd like defining her RATIONAL and INSPIRATIONAL. Apart from her respectful and wide professional background, the feature that struck me most was her caring attitude, as well as her humility. This course should be a prerequisite for starting school. No matter your discipline you will get something out of this course if you set aside the time to go through all of the material. She has real world experience in tough subjects like linguistics, math, and science. It is rare for someone to have such an impressive résumé.

I attended the Course Learn how to Learn in Coursera with Dr. Barbara Oakley It's a great course to know what's going on in your brain and what to do while you are distracted. The animation used in the videos makes it easier to understand the material.

This professor was well spoken, entertaining, very knowledgeable with up to date information.

Course "Learning how to learn" is must for everybody who's scared to study! It changed my mindset. I absorbed all the knowledge as kind advices from friends! Now I'm so confident even when I start something totally new. I'm not scared anymore but intrigued! I know that I can master anything because I know the secrets.

I love everything from Barb, such a great teacher, all the way from her soft and slow pace to talk and explain, up to her way to doing the interviews, that by the way were all very interesting. She is a great inspiration.

Very friendly professor, who explains everything in the most basic of terms; giving away sufficient number of examples in between and teaching and telling you everything in an interesting way - so that one does not get bored watching the lectures. Professor Oakley is not just extremely intelligent, she also knows how to teach and not just lecture a boring scripted lesson. She gives great examples of all the ways to learn what she is instructiing, and is funny and dramatic in her presentation. I would love to take a class with her in person, but alas the free Coursea classes are just online.

Professor Barbara Oakley's background as a linguist fascinated me. Her techniques of teaching and how she mastered Russian language is an attraction for me.
