this teacher is the most fake teacher i had in my life. she seems very nice but she is a fake, she gives a load of work and she s too picky in grading it. i personally dont recommend her, most of my class is failling it.

I took her class after reading this because I really needed it and its awful! Not understanding, strict, demanding. No late assignments accepted under any circumstances, she just doesn't care!! DONT TAKE HER!

This teacher is a very hard grader. She takes a week to grade you work, and if you turn something in her computer cannot open she will fail you for that work. In addition if you have a family emergency and can not complete something she will not accept it not even one day late. Her grade scale is ridiculous. I do not recommend this teacher at all

I did a 5h assig. and I got 0 points because she didn't explain. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS HER FAULT SHE DON'T CARE! There is nothing more frustrating than completing all the work and then getting half points or worse, she always take off as many points as she can, horrible scale grade impossible to get an A. DON'T RECOMMEND, TAKING HER RUINS YOUR GPA !!

She is really hard

Most of my class is failing because we're all beginners and she expects us to be experts!This teacher is horrible. She grades very harshly and expects a lot from you. Does not accept any late work, don't even bother with legitimate reasons.

The only reason I got an A was because of all the extra credit. I thought I hated public speaking before taking this class, but this professor makes you hate it more. The textbook is redundant and boring and expensive! The essays are not well explained and she gives no leniency. Her grading system is complicated leaving you in the dark. WALK AWAY!

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Her grading is ridiculous. She grades as if students were writting their doctoral dissertations. You can get straight A's in the chapter quizes but the writting is harshly graded. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER, save yourself the headache.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Do not take her unless you want to fail and feel frustrated! She is very unfair at grading, never got a perfect score on any assignment. I was taking 3 more online courses along with this one and did perfectly fine in all of them except here! Very unorganized and does not give clear directions for assignments. DO NOT TAKE HER!

At first she was really nice and sweet, but when I started asking for help thats when things turned sour and her rude self shows. Don't bother asking her anything and don't bother taking her class because you won't learn nothing. She takes off points for any little error. On the plus side she does give "extra credit", but my advice stay away.

This professor seems nice at the beginning but afterwards when you seek for her help she barely pays attentions, she gives a lot of extra credit work, however she is a tough grader and she does not explain the assignments!!! Do not take this professor if you want to pass the course.

She started the first day of class online saying she would post the work tomorrow. Three weeks later most of the assignments started coming up after many students were running like headless chickens. She gave extra credit to assignments she didn't even assign people to do. She teaches communication, but assignments have serious grammatical errors.

When it comes to bad professors. Barabara is the perfect example. How can some one be so unhelpful, uncomprehensive, and such a horrible professor. 80% of my class failed, 19% dropped, and 1% barely made it. She didn't even give 1 class during the semester. She didn't explain assignments, never answered e-mails, and on top of that a though grader.

Horrid class. Everything is online, too many assignments, and very disorganized for the 1st week of class. How hard is a speech class suppose to be?

Grades like Hitler, docks points on analyses if she doesn't agree with you. Her short answer question assignments need to be answered to the fullest extent of description or you will get very low grades. My computer turned in an assignment before I was done, I asked her to let me finish but she refused because extra credit is supposed to cover that

This professor makes it incredibly hard to get good grades in her class. I gave the course my all but she is very difficult to deal with as she seems to give low points for no reason. If there is another professor for you to take SPC1017 with, please, take the class with that professor and not this one.

Deducts points for no reason and will not explain why. Has extremely bad attitude and is condescending towards students. Teaches nothing useful in class. Everything is assigned to be completed at home but attendance is mandatory.

This professor is a really tough grader. Never understood why she would take so many points away, and she never explains the why. Wouldn't recommend this professor to anyone.

In my 2 and half years of university , I have never been in a class so hard. Not because of the class itself, but this teacher gives unclear instructions, has no interest in helping or even teaching her students. I did assignments AND SHE GAVE ME A 0/100, it is not fair. Professor Midence is difficult to understand, nobody understands what she wants to express, I had to dropped the classes like other classmates. She as a Professor, is the worst.

I took her speech class online and just happened TO BE THE WORST. I have had tough professors before but this lady is just NOT GREAT, and yes i am writing from a place of dislike. I DO NOT TAKE HER.

The teacher is a tough grader and her work load is the usual. Upload your assignments on time, if they are a second late that is an automatic zero. (No sympathy for students, don't waste your time giving an explanation). Doesn't respond to her students in a timely manner and can take a very long time to grade assignments.

There are better options. This subject is easy but professor is extremely difficult and even more so to work with.

This was the worst experience. The subject matter isn't difficult however she will make it unbelievably difficult and waste so much of your time. I would recommend taking with another professor. Really messed up my flow in other classes as well. Bing mistake on my part not taking these reviews more seriously.

Worst teacher I have even had. Her exams are 80+ questions with bad grammar. Isnt helpful at all when I would email her to ask a question about why I got a specific grade on something that I know was right as I was looking at the answer in the book. Doesnt explain how to complete work correctly and takes point away. No clear grading rubric

She was terrible. Extremely tough grader for no apparent reason, extremely hard to get ahold of and the exams were ridiculously long. She even graded tough on the hw assignments. I would not recommend taking her.

This is one of the worse teachers I have ever had, no clear grading criteria, she doesnt give you proper directions on her assignments and then either refuses to grade them or takes excessive points off. If you have to take this class stay away from her, it is almost as if she wants you to fail. Terrible!

She gives new meaning to being a tough grader. she gives extracredit because she grades so harshly or else we'd all fail. doesn't give clear instructions of what she wants, almost takes pleasure in removing points,wont directly answer about the course and prefers to speak in riddles when replying to you.

You will genuinely hate your life being in her class, choose another professor.

She is very disorganized, takes her sweet time to grade every assignment, doesn't gives instructions clearly and on top of that takes off points for everything, not even an English teacher takes off points like that in an essay, It's that type of teacher that makes an easy course difficult, save your time don't take her class.

Insanely tough grader, like she WANTS to find mistakes. Extremely disorganized, dates pushed back 3 weeks. Submitted a speech well before the deadline, but due to the faulty system she uses, it did not submit until 12:01. Seconds past the deadline. What'd she do? Gave me a zero, forcing me to withdraw the course as there's no way to even get a C.

Defenitly a bad professor to me. Give just a lecture or simply speak whatever topic in the class which not provide a good understanding. Old professor should be out. College need improvement or a better way to give a speech class.

I will try to be as honest and straight forward. She is a TERRIBLE professor. She took multiple weeks to grade the first three essays, so I had no idea of what she expected from us. Her lectures made me feel she did not had her ideas connected, that confuses. Not hard but she is a tough grader. Her expectations are high but explanations very poor.

Shes horrible, doesnt help with anything, takes forever in grading the assignments

Here's what to expect: an unclear grading rubric. She doesn't adhere to her rule of answering within 48 hours. We had to pay for the textbook and the software she required out of our pockets. No flexibility even during Coronavirus. On average it takes her 2 months to grade a single assignment. Quizzes do not reflect the material in the textbook.

Barbara Midence is not great professor and doesn't work with you when you communicate what you're struggling with. Is not flexible even if you have valid reasoning for whatever you're struggling with. Fails to give you all the tools to pass and isn't responsive and helpful. One of the worst professors I've had.

I'm the kind of student that enjoys studying and learning new things, but this prof is the worst I've ever had. It makes any student hate her class. Most of the feedback she gave is negative, and it doesn't help the students at all. She thinks all the students she graded are at her level. Even if you try, her being your prof doesn't help you learn.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER, with the whole thing of the virus you send us an email to not worry about our grade. The lazy mf didnt put any grades until last day of semester and she didnt fix nothing. SHES THE WORST, the day I asked her was the last day to drop out any class with a W. She dont deserve be a professor at all

Professor Midence is the worst professor I've had so far. She's very tough on grading her assignments, professor Midence likes her assignments to be turned in and completed in certain way. When it comes to contacting her for any questions it's very hard. She only responds to emails if it's sent through blackboard. Her class is very tough to pass.

I did what I had to do, I didn't talk in her class. She is very strict with tardiness. I came in 2 minutes late, due to a printer issue (I'm never late), and called me out in front of the class and did not accept my speech outline but accepted a girl's outline who came 10 minutes after me! I received a 0 on the whole speech assignment.

Professor Midence is by far one of THE WORST teachers I have ever had extremely tough grader and wants things her way without giving an explanation of what her way is. Trying to Contact her? Think again she wont answer and gets mad if you do contact her. She is one of the worst teachers, highly recommend you do not take!

Honestly this is the worst class I have taken at MDC. The professor is very unclear with instructions and has a nasty attitude when you try to contact her. She can't even properly organize and structure a virtual class. Do not take her class. It will leave you overwhelmed and stressed out. Gives horrible feedback and doesn't even give a study guide

DO NOT TAKE HER PLEASE. She does not respond to emails. She is very strict with grading and gives vague explanations for everything. When I asked her why I got a low grade on an assignment she said "simply put, you did not do the assignment correctly". She won't help you get a better grade by any means. HORRIBLE

Stay away from this prof, she is horrible you have to work really hard for a speech class, she claims to be able to help , but her help is 2 days after things are due, her grading is horrible. she will not count assignment you asked her for help on or peers for one thing not being to her 100 percent liking. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

This has been the worst prof i have taken in my college career, she is extremely rude and pretends to be helpful. She tries to make everything more difficult then it is, if you want to be emailing her back and forth and having a hard time with her class which should be an easy class, take her. But she is horrible do yourself a favor and stay away .

Do not be fooled by the few good reviews, she does give a lot of extra credit but it is not worth dealing with her nonsense, and horrible communication and grading. She has been the least helpful and least reliable prof i have taken. She replies days later and is rude. Stay away from this class if you don' want to be stressing over an easy class.

Overall this was the worst professor I have ever had, communications skills and feedback on grades were horrible. Was not very helpful if you had questions on the assignment, overall this is one professor who just does the bare minimum. I've learned more about communication and speech fundamentals from real life scenarios than taking this class.

If i could give her a 0 i would, she is such a micro manager and is horrible at explaining, if you choose this class you must want stress and struggle, and hate life, because she is honestly one of the worst professors at mdc, she does not help you replies super late and is extremely rude sometimes.

Worst professor I have had at MDC. Every assignment is over complicated. She does not explain why she deducts points on assignments. She does not give clear instructions on what she wants. She does not teach anything, just repeats her announcements. Listen to all the terrible reviews and do not take this professor unless you want to hate life.

I really started to like this class but then everything else just became so difficult. Kind of sassy and is really hard to communicate with. If you ask why you got a certain grade the response would sort of not make sense at ALL. Do not take if you want to have easy work but wierd grading!

This professor is an extremely tough grader, although she does give extra credit. The course isnt technically hard, but she grades your assignment in very difficult way. She exactly wants specific answer and if you dont answer the questions like you suppose to she will give you no credit. She expects complete a lot of assignment for her class.

This Proffesor is horrible. If youre reading this thinking you want to have her. Youre mistaken. Shes a really bad teacher, and Proffesor. Some of my classmates and I had to go all the way to her dept to complain because things were getting out of hand. Please do not risk your GPA and scholarship with this Proffesor. Absolutely disorganized professor. Takes forever to grade assignments submitted over a month ago, expects things turned in during holidays when class isn't in sessions. Gives you reminders orally and never through email or blackboard. Terribly unclear when things are due. Don't take her online if you don't want to be in class for only 20 minutes.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!! This class was horrible in all the semesters I've taken by far this one was the WORSE. The professor doesn't care about her student or their personal problems, not humble whatsoever! Throws assignments at you without explaining anything or giving examples. You will fail the class.

They have this belief that self-study is the best way to go so if u have any questions they wont guide you in any sense they will simple say to find the answer yourself and read the book again. This is a big problem as her questions/instructions are vague and unclear of what they are asking. I strongly recommend avoiding this professor.

The Professor was really unorganized, hard to follow. The Blackboard class setup was also messy and hard to follow. Graded things late and had no clear instructions. Submissions in the grade book had different titles than the assignments given. Would not recommend this teacher at all, it was a horrible time

Class was supposed to be in person but changed it to virtual. Never showed her face or screen during online class. Her lectures were only going over instructions for assignments.I did not learn one thing from this course. She can be condescending and sass you when she's answering your question. Her exams consist of material never covered in class.

FIRST OF ALL, I IMPLORE YOU NOT TO TAKE THIS CLASS! if you take it you would live a nightmare the entire semester (specifically summer). 90 question tests every week based on chapters you need to reed (VERY HARD AND CONFUSING). Very bad grader, so rude and overall THE WORSE PROFESSOR I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE

Teacher gives homework without giving clear explanations for assignments, and doesn't understand when the entire class is confused! Does NOT show any visuals in class. Teacher expects a lot from the students. Don't take this class if you are not good with short deadlines, there are new items due every week. if you take this class you will struggle.

This women is terrible. Lack of consideration, does not care about students whatsoever. Is a fan giving zero's even when you completed the work according to the instructions. Also, gives zero when she doesn't like the result of the assignment as well. You will fail the class no matter how good of a student you are. Do not recommend at all!!!!!

She is a horrible professor! Like the other comments, no matter how good of a student you are, how much time and effort you put into your work, and how well you pay attention in her lectures she will most likely not give you a passing grade on whatever it is she's assigned. In her lectures she talks in circles and then randomly gives you 120Q Test.

DO NOT take this class! Professor gives a lot of assignments with unclear grading requirements. The tests are all on the book, which the professor doesn't teach from. This class is one that you have to read the chapters on your own and teach yourself. Even if you are a good student, you will fail.

Has to be one of the worst professors I have ever had, bad at communication, unfair grading, and never lectures or teaches the subject. Be prepared to be your own instructor, never be late to a single one of her assignments, and make sure you review your work she will find something wrong with it anyway. This professor is extremely unorganized and despite teaching this class before did not have correct due dates for the assignments for weeks. Grades essays and discussions extremely heavy with little productive feedback.

No sympathy, horrible communicator despite teaching communication, unfair grader. Not sure how she hasn't gotten fired. Please do not take this course. Not worth it AT ALL.

She assigned an outline for a presentation with no instructions, templates, or even a rubric. All the students submitted their outlines and she gave us all low grades cause it wasn't what she wanted. She admitted that she didn't provide instructions and said she was going to change the grades but never did. I got a low grade and it was her fault.

Unclear grading criteria, she gives you a vague instruction, and once you submit the work she will take points from things she never mentioned on the explanation of the work.

I remember at this class, the quizzes will logg me out almost immediately which I found very stange at the time. Most suspiciously was when I started the quiz in a matter of minutes and it still logged me out. I was forced to withdraw the class at the time, she couldn't even reset the quizzes since I was logged out.

If you are going to file complaint against her, I recommend filing with Dept of Education if anything serious from her. That's the department that can revoke her license, the schools here don't have that kind of authority compared to this department.

Doesn't know how to use Canvas and is passive-aggressive in emails. Extremely slow and tough grader with very unclear rubrics and low word limits. Won't tell you that the grade on Canvas is not your actual grade. She overrides the score at the end of the semester by adding up all your points and diving by 1000. Unnecessarily stressful.

Abandon all hope,ye who enter. She didn't show up in class for 6 weeks in a row and acts like you should know what to do next. She grades things arbitrarily and goes out of her way to make sure you don't get an A. Extremely passive aggressive emails, doesn't teach anything, and, despite being a comms prof, is incapable of communicating. Do not pick

Worst professor ever. Lots of videos and homework. Does not care about the students. Does not tell you what you are doing wrong. Midterm with proctorU. Doesn't explains and NEVER answers emails. She expects you to do a Ted Talk when she just copy and pastes the whole class from google. Don't waste your time and money with this one.

Awful...I should have dropped the class immediately after receiving a grade of 60/100 on the first basic assignment (introducing myself to the class). The assignments had very unclear instructions, the workload was heavy, and we were required to record ourselves giving a speech weekly in front of 5 people (which is not easy to organize every week)

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She is a generally a cold woman who at some points sympathized with me. BUT, her assignment instructions are extremely unclear, she can be very mean, and she doesn't like giving out A's. Even the help at the speech center said they didn't understand why she gave the grades she did. simply impossible to work with.

He doesn't let you send him late assignments for any justified reason, he lowers your grade for any insignificant thing out of 92 that I had for some videos, he gave me a C

THIS PROFESSOR IS NOT UNDERSTANDABLE. Too bad I didn't know ab RMP before registering in her class. Extremely passive-aggressive and never explains well. Never happy with students' work either. PLEASE DO NO TAKE THIS COURSE! Take in consideration all of her ratings before. NOT EASY.

This professor is consistently inconsistent. She is always going on about how her canvas is broken and has to change the schedule then has no remorse for late grades. In addition, my class average is an F everyone fails every assignment the turn in as she is never clear in instruction and to fast with deadlines.

Doesnt know how to work canvas, does not know how to teach or give proper instructions, always late to her own class, does not accept late assignments even though canvas was not working, passive aggressive, never hears her students out, and will never get out an A. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

I took her class in Fall 2024, and I feel like I made a big mistake because not only does she not provide a rubric for the projects, but she also frequently grades them lowly. Despite all of that, most of the exams were multiple-choice and unproctored. Here's a suggestion: if you value your GPA, don't risk it and find another speech class.
