This is an easy writing intensive if you are willing to show up for class and read the book. Only three essays for the whole semester !! and she is a generous grader. Her exams are straight forward and so are the pop quizzes. She is a great teacher !! I wish I could have her for all my classes.
She is a great teacher, has a very distinct accent but her humor and wanting of active partiipants in class makes it worth while to come to class. She is always in for her office hours and will gladly work with you if you need help. I recommend her. The tests are easy if you don't have test anxiety andyou really study but does give out study guide
She has a great sense of humor and she is very sarcastic (in a funny way!) You don't really have to go to class, but she is very engaging. Her study guides are easy to fill out from the book. There is minimal writing and she grades very easily.
Funny sense of humor! She is really knowledgable about the subject and she was always there to help you. She posts her lectures on Webct so it's not awful if you miss class--she doesn't take roll. But trust me you want to go to this class! There are some boring days but mostly it's pretty interesting!
pretty informative teacher. she knows what she wants when it comes to papers and you better know how to read her mind or ask a ton of questions.
She has an accent and sometimes its hard to understand her. I think this semester was her first time doing weekly quizzes every monday and FYI the quizzes aren't that easy, but if you pay attention and read they will be. She is very specific with what she wants in her papers so FOLLOW HER DIRECTIONS, overall easy A as long as you do everything
This professor is such a crack up! I loved her sense of humor, she made the lectures (which could have easily been somewhat boring) very entertaining and fun. I very much so enjoyed this class and this professor. She is great!!! Take her... a few essays and 2 tests no final. I'll miss this class
Love her and the class! Easy and interesting. Quiz every week, 3 papers, and a final.
Soooo funny! Her accent makes her funny. Very interested in subject matter and very helpful! Didn't seem like a lecture- seemed like a time for life lessons haha.
Cool class! Professor posts PowerPoints before class, which helps a ton when taking notes and studying for the weekly quizzes and final exam.
AS long as you do all your work on time, you will be fine.. one of the best instructors at CSUS
Her accent makes it hard to understand her lecture. Gives quizzes every week, mandatory 20 min. presentation, must read chpts, 3 papers. Sense of humor is dry but overall just attend class and read.
Professor Shebloski is an excellent lecturer!!! I love her accent and her teaching styles :)!!! She is amazing and very helpful. I performed so well in this class is because thanks to a professor like her. She is very intelligent and very nice...this class feels like receiving life lesson :). If you want to take this for a major or just for GE, the
Professor is amazing!!! Two papers-two pages. Quizzes every week, and a cumulative final. She is willing to help you and caring too. One of the professors at CSUS. How I wish all professors teaches like her. Her teaching styles is easy to understand :)! Love her!
Took her for two classes actually: 52 and 150. Very knowledgeable and assignments are relevant to the class material. Expects you to follow syllabus and track your own due dates, but approachable when you need help. Wicked sense of humor and she treats her students well. Take whatever class she teaches, you'll get a lot out of it.
I LOVE this professor!! She made the class a lot of fun and I learned a lot from her, not only for the class but in life. I would take a class of hers agian if I could. As long as you come to class and read the Chapters you will do well on the tests! Fun class, even funnier teacher! I think I laughed every day.
Shebloski is pretty cool. She has a strong Czech accent but that didn't bother me at all. Weekly quizzes are okay, make sure to review the PowerPoint's at least. She is very helpful in her office hours and very personable... you could talk to her for hours! Overall the class is pretty straight forward.
This class was very interesting & professor was hilarous. She does have an accent but you will get used to it. She does not take attendance but you should go to most classes to do well. The class consisted of weekly quizzes, 1 final & 2 papers. I did well on the quizzes by reading the book & studying the PowerPoint. I would recommend this class.
She has an accent so it's difficult to understand her at times. You MUST READ to do well on her quizzes. She does lecture but her weekly quizzes are mainly based on the book. You do journals for every chapter. Takes attendance periodically, so go to class! Fairly easy course, do the work, read, and show up.
I would not recommend her. Her quizess are super hard. No matter how much you try, you cant get a good grade. U can read the book 100 times but still not do good because her questions on the quizzes are hard. She is nice, but she is not a good professor. take someone else
She's so funny and her accent is hilarious. She likes class participation - otherwise her lectures would be kind of bland. Only 4 papers for a writing intensive class. Quizzes are easy if you read the chapters, which aren't even that long. 1 presentation, but she doesn't grade hard.
person below obviously has some reading comprehension issues, because the quizzes are directly from the book. It's fairly easy. She's very nice and passionate about the class, and loves her students. Only 2, 3 page reflection papers and a weekly quiz, plus the final, which she goes over the test the week before so there's no excuse to not pass!!
The class was super interesting, the only thing I struggled on were the quizzes AND I read every single chapter and took notes and attended every single class. I personally have the 6th edition of the textbook which is why I think I did so horribly because she bases not just her lectures but her quizzes off the 5th edition.
This teacher is horrible. She has a heavy accent and she expects you to understand her most of the time when she isn't even clear on her instructions. She required 2 papers and had 4 exams. For each papers, she was very unclear and did not remind students about what she wanted on it at all and expects you to know the syllabus by heart. Stay away!
easy class, just review lectures. I didn't even buy the book & passed on just going to class & rereading the lecture notes. She's very stubborn but you get over it.
I had her last semester and she was extremely helpful. I didn't have a car anymore and she helped accomadate me and let me go into her office hours for help and to take quizzes. My class was once a week so we had a quiz every day. She was one of my favorite teachers, very helpful and funny.
Super funny and laid back. She is very understanding to different situations. I found her easy to talk to and communicate with. One of my favorite professors. She is also pretty easy. Just do what she wants you to do and you will get A.
Easy going teacher. Took her during summer session and she didn't want to be there any more than we did. Always let us out early. Tests are strictly according to book. Essays are easy just follow the APA standards she gives. Very helpful. I would take her again.
She is absolutely hilarious! She doesn't hold anything back. Her quizzes are challenging so make sure you thoroughly read each chapter. I wasn't very interested in the class but her humor was enough to keep me entertained and engaged.
Shes a good teacher. Keeps lectures pretty interesting. I didn't read the book at all and could still get 7 or 8's on quizzes (out of 10). Quizzes every week.
This professor is outstanding. She is one that I would consider overworked (teaches multiple classes here and at UCD) and still is willing to help you regardless of the circumstance. She feeds you everything you need to pass. Quiz every week from the reading, but very easy. She lets you see the final before you take it. Very easy & interesting!
Class was not that hard , just need to know the material. Quizzes were every monday based off notes & sometimes textbook. She's could seem intimidating but she's actually easy to talk to .. overall she keeps the class interesting & she'll add everyone
Shebloski is a very good professor. Like some people stated, her accent is heavy but she is not difficult to understand. The class is easy and quizzes are based on the book and lecture. The only reason why I got a D was because I didn't have my own priorities straight but this class is definitely an easy A and she is very funny!
This class is horrible. She makes you take test once as week but some stuff on the test she didn't even cover. So good luck trying to Ace the quizzes. She's very upfront, bold, has a strong personality, and tends to put her students on the spot sometimes and comes off kind of rude at times.
This class is pretty hard becos quiz every week. Don't have to show up to class unless its quiz or exam day. Just study the power point and read the chapter and you can pass with least a B. I believe she also drops the 2lowest scores & midterm/final is SUPER EASY. Its all the quiz you've taken (print them out & study them).
She does seem a little intimidating, but she's quite hilarious! During lectures, she'll usually share a story from her life, making the lectures more interesting. You don't really get hw at all, just 3 assignments and 3 exams. I'd say it's a good idea to get the book bc the exams do have some VERY specific info from the book (exam is book based).
I found her funny. Some people say she is hard but if you do the reading it a piece of cake. She engages the class and gives good lectures. You don't really have to attend all the classes as she has the powerpoints on blackboard, just do the reading!
She is hysterical! I absolutely loved her. I'm a CHDV/EDUC major & took this class for the topic and I was not disappointed! Not really any homework to speak of except 1 fairly easy paper and studying for tests/quizzes. Tests (given every 4 weeks) are comprised of the same questions from quizzes (given weekly) plus a few extra- not cumulative.
Writing intensive course w/ 5 papers. Weekly quizzes. 1 exam which is the final. 1 fairly easy presentation, 5-10mins. She is very enthusiastic and hilarious. Attendance is not mandatory BUT some stuff on the quiz is from the lecture. Has an attitude but she is friendly and easy going. Will challenge you and inspire you.
professors accent might be a bit hard to understand for the first ten minutes, but once you get used to it, she is super entertaining i was very engaged. tests are based on the powerpoint, textbook chapters, and her lecture. not a very hard class
As long as you pay attention and do your best to keep up with her, you'll succeed in Barb's classes. She's hilarious and witty and very outgoing, she knows what she's working with in terms of materials and class dynamics. She's a difficult grader but she is fair in her expectations of quality of work and participation.
She hides her rudeness through witty and sarcastic comments. She wants you to participate but when you do she quickly cuts you off to tell you your wrong. She hates when people don't pay attention but all she does is read off the slides. ALL the slides are on Sac CT so going to class is almost pointless. Sometimes checks attendance. RUDE but easy.
Lectures are posted online and she goes in depth about them in class. Attend class b/c she takes attendance sometimes and gives answers to the midterms which are 3 total. 1 reflection paper and the final consists of the last 4 chapters. She hates when students do not pay attention. Her lectures are interesting and she's hilarious.
Tests are based off mainly lectures and a it from the textbook. You can still pass the class without textbook but not with an A. 4 exams, lowest drop (final optional), and one 3-4 pages paper about yourself based on 2 chapters. She does not like you looking at phone or laptops, make sure to pay attention to her.
All I can say is GOODLUCK!!she's rude and thinks she's funny & will put you on the spot if you dont pay attention to her. boring lectures. 1 research paper, a couple quizzes, exams, and final. each exams consist of 70-75 questions (4 exams, drop the lowest). final is cumulative and consist of 200 questions!! regret taking her. Avoid her if you can.
Never had such a bad professor while attending Sac State, until this semester. If I were you, try avoiding her!!! I got stuck with her because they did not have a professor to teach the class. She is so rude and will call you out in front of the whole class. She talks for the entire class time. No group discussions. 4 midterm exams, 75 questions!
I was excited to take this class, but I did not learn anything . All she did was talk the entire class and read off her lectures. She gives you quiz's based off articles that can be very long. Questions are very tricky on the 4 exams she gives you which consume of 70-75 questions. Some exams online and some in class. GOOD LUCK IF YOU TAKE HER!
our final was 114 questions. we needed 2 scantrons. a little bit unnecessary in my opinion lol. class could have been more interesting because the material was genuinely interesting. she can come off as rude, but she just has a very different sense of humor.
Only 2 good things about this professor is that she's pretty funny and makes class quiet enjoyable. Aside from this, she's rude. I asked her to explain something because I didn't understand the difference and her response "if you dont know the difference, dont come to the exam." 4 exams, one every 4 weeks, 80 questions each, which is ridiculous!
Professor Shebloski is quite funny at times but she mostly wants you to participate, she will start calling people if nobody answers. Reading and going to lectures is a MUST! 3 exams, 1 final, 1 written assignment. She's a tough grader on the assignment so I would recommend having someone review it beforehand and revise before turning it in.
This class is easy if you study BUT the professor is a total B word. She comes off rude and thinks she knows it all. I asked her a simple question on what time and date our final was because it was my first year in college and she said "WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME THIS ITS UR RESPONSIBILITY HOW SHOULD I KNOW" but she was so nice to the students before me
She is very rude to students specifically asians. Shes unprofessional, rude to classmates, likes to put students on the spotlight and embarrass them. She does not care if she is rude or not.
Prof. Shebloski will put questions on the test that were only said during the lecture, like questions that students asked to make sure that people show up to class. The grade is based on four exams, a final, and two written assignments.
I took her class and was pleasantly amazed at how I actually enjoyed her class. She makes these hilarious side notes during lecture that actually stick with you weirdly. the exams are literally straight out of the notes and lecture so just attend class and get an easy A.
I know she has gotten a lot of bad reviews, but she is really not that bad-I enjoyed her class. She is sarcastic w/students (including me) and I found it funny. She doesn't like poor quality work, cheating, or coming in later - so don't do any of those and go to her office hours for feedback -she will give you tips so you can get 100% on the paper!
She is the worse FACS professor Ive ever taken at Sac state. She should work on respecting her students!
I took her online, so I'd imagine that's better than taking her in person. The class is pretty easy, but she makes it more time consuming than it should be. 80 question exams in 80 minutes is ridiculous and unreasonable! Other than that she's not a tough grader and she responds to emails quickly if you need any help.
LONG lectures. It was online and at least 2 hours a day needed to be dedicated to this to get an A. It was her first online class, so a lot was testing I know, but a 100 question exam in 80 minutes WITH essay questions? Come on. She eventually realized how stressful that was and adjusted scores, but it was really hard to focus on that exam.
Professor Shebloski is very heavy on the lectures, goes way to fast. She is a tough grader when it comes to the essays make a few grammatical errors and a good chunk gets taken off, has 9 quizzes based of the book she makes you read and drops the lowest 2. 3 exams based on lectures and grammar and 1 final exam and essay. 4 essay total.
She can be helpful when she wants to be and always have to remind her when there was a quiz assigned on Wednesdays. 9 quizzes, 4 exams, 4 papers, and 1 group project. Slow on responding back to students or never replies.
Single handedly the worst professor at Sac State. She hates her job and has no respect for students. Her grading has absolutely no structure and will hand out whatever grade she feels like and change it when she feels like. Dont expect her to check emails. Please save your time and money and take literally anyone but her.
I generally enjoyed her class. The books she picks for her quizzes in general are great short story books. For her papers she gives great feedback and allows you to revise it if needed. Her lectures are basically her exam , so I was never confused on what would be on the exam. She is nice and enjoys helping her students who attend her office hours
Her grading criteria is awful, I feel like it can be unfair sometimes. One good thing is that she can be reasonable and allows students to resubmit it tho. Tbh I just think this class is useless. I wouldn't take her if possible, she's super strict.
She yelled at a student on our ZOOM class meeting they couldn't find the lecture notes. Very unprofessional, and doesn't give clear instructions in her assignments. Avoid taking this teacher if possible.
This woman makes it impossible to understand assignments. She never gives thorough directions and then she has a sarcastic attitude when grading. She expects a 1000 word essay based on our own words and only two small quotes when the entire essay is based on the book.
I took this professor in person last semester for FACS 150 and she was a bit difficult. Some of her test questions weren't even from the lecture. But for FACS 159 I had no choice and turns out she is A LOT better online. There are weekly assignments (relatively easy) and all test questions were online. So online great teacher, in person not good.
Avoid at all costs this is the worst professor Ive encountered. She is crass and disrespectful! Her tests are a joke (80-100 questions, timed and you cant go back bc everyone is a cheater in her eyes), constant wrong answers on exams and then wont adjust grades for her mistakes. Shes lazy and hateful.
Nice prof asynchronous class. Pre-recorded lectures through powerpoints. Lengthy lectures but very thorough, you'll pass with at least a B- even if you don't read the txtbk (lol me) Usually an exam for every 3-4 chapters. The final is not on the whole book but its about the last 3-4 chapters of the book. Take notes, study. Tests are not open book.
If you enjoy a class where the professor just reads off her long lecture slides, then she's the professor for you. She's a nice lady and all outside of class, but she's not that good of a professor. You're better off not going to her zoom classes because she doesn't count attendance, it was easier to teach myself and treat it asynchronously.
The quizzes can be confusing, she will go back and change the grade of your quiz at times. You have 4 papers to write and she is tough on grading and making sure you have the correct APA style. Her lectures are mostly based on the powerpoints, she reads off of. She will put you down for asking something in front of the class. viewpoints are outdated
This Professor isnt clear with her assignments. She basically sets you up for failure. Her course work is horrible and hard to follow the work is not hard but the way she breaks it down is terrible. Definitely do not recommend her if your taking FACS 152 go with a different profesor as she is little to no help and hard to reach.
Not the best. You can follow her instructions on a simple assignment, and she gives you a zero right away if it doesn't "look right". Exams and midterms are ridiculously long. She speaks over students at times or talks behind their back. Her syllabus doesn't follow with what she says and often changes her due dates on assignments often.
Very kind, caring, and knowledgeable. Big on formatting and citations in papers so get those wrong and get docked points, but is understanding and gives you a chance to correct them. Is very aware of who is in class and participates which affects your grade. Gives short and interesting assignments. Quizzes have unlimited attempts good 4 studying
I enjoyed her lectures and the concept of this class. I enjoyed all of the discussions she had us do. I recommend to turn your homework on time. It really does add up sometimes so make sure to do them on time and make sure to follow her prompts to how she likes her papers done. YOU WILL GET POINTS DEDUCTED.
I wish she engaged more with us because honestly I would have attended class often. I got bored so easily I ended up just listening to her lectures from home. She was a tough grader on papers and it was funny because she had numerous mistakes too so I thought that was something.... going to class is mandatory since she took random attendance.
Pretty typical professor. Nothing special. By that I mean, just do your work. You won't gain anything of importance.
Professor Shebloski is very kind, and by all means wants you to succeed in her class. She gives a great lecture and is extremely funny. One of my all time favorite professors at Sac State. Only if you have no sense of humor or are a world class slacker will you not like her class. She has a bit of an accent, but it will grow on you.
Great professor who made class fun and engaging. Her assignments were easy to understand and the information from her lectures were very useful in the exams.
Attendance was mandatory at first but then she didn't make it mandatory. Her class is interesting and she is very funny but I did not learn from her lectures, all she did was repeat what was on the slides so she did not add additional information. i wish she went more into detail in her lectures so I was excited to attend class. did not learn much
Do not transfer into this class after the 1st week. Started giving me 0s for assignments I had no opportunity to start (switched to her class during week 3). Sent her emails asking about the assignments, and she ignored them. I was in the class for a total of 1 day and had an F (32%), ignored, and basically forced to drop. Her lecture was boring.
This is by far the worse professor a Sac State. She is very unprofessional and unpleasant. She loves to try and intimidate and embarrass her students, it gives her a thrill. She has disrespected me on multiple occasions and I did not feed into it because that is what she thrives off of. Her classes are extremely easy you will not learn much.
She is very strict according to attendance but if she accidentally marks you absent SHE will NOT care what proof you have, she will give u a 0. She repeats what's on the slides and doesn't add to anything else. She calls on only the same 4 students . I would not take this class ever again.
I wouldn't take this course, she takes APA criteria extremely seriously. But none of her lectures are based on her expectation of the writing assignments, so to deduct points heavily on APA criteria, is odd There is a quiz every week, either from the chapter book or lecture slides, and sometimes you have a paper and a quiz on the same evening.
