Online, she doesn't respond to emails, may or may not grade what you turn in and NOT in a timely manner, we're talking 4 - 6 weeks for a grade

Literally THE WORST professor I have EVER had. I would not recommend her. I took the course since it was the only one across the board at all STLCC campuses. It was online. Like someone else said, do not mess with her. She is not trustworthy. Make sure to keep copies of ALL your work because she may lose them. Also, she LOVES TO YELL IN TEXT.

If you don't come to class you will fail. Group projects are brutal, papers are long, vague and have short deadlines. Do not take this class if you have a lot of classes or a lot of work.

An absolutely terrible teacher, one of the worst I've experienced in my time at STLCC. Regardless of the amount of time and effort you put into your work, don't expect a good grade. Sincerely tried in her course for her to simply shrug off my assignments and give many of them a zero. Not clear in her directions and super strict grader. Avoid.

I got a 60% on my first paper so clearly I needed to go to the lab. I went and got a 60% on my second paper.

Dr. Wachal has been my worst professor in my college career. The homework was pretty easy and was graded for completion. However, the final research paper and presentation rubrics/topics were not clear. She provides extra credit at the beginning of the term but don't expect to get the points because she doesn't know how to use blackboard.

Extremely tough grader. I spent quite a lot of time writing a paper I thought would give me at least a B. Ended up getting 60%. I like to believe she has extremely high expectations. This class is good for people that are already good, not for people that are trying to be good; in which case you'll fail.

Do not take her class. I repeat DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! She gives papers every week and is a very tough grader. She excepts no late work and little extra credit. I wish I wouldn't have taken this class with her.

This is the worst class I've ever taken. I want to give up on the course, but it's already paid for. She assigns papers every week & has the strictest grading and I don't know what she expects. I also moved & she wouldnt let me turn my paper in late even though my Wi-Fi had not been switched to my new house yet. My other professors helped me out.

Though I expected more work in taking the online class, it was ridiculous. I understood that it would be difficult, but I feel as though she has too high of standards. Somewhat rude when giving feedback sometimes, expects you to already be an A level writer. I've always been good at English, but barely passed this class. Do not take it with her.

She is by far the WORST TEACHER I EVER HAD! She doesn't explain things properly . I definitely would not recommend taking her class. I should have known when her name came up that she was going to be a problem. I find her to be very disrespectful and does not speak to people properly. I'm willing to take the class again, JUST NOT HERS! Run!

She was the WORSE professor any student could imagine having.! I had her coming in as a freshman and it was a living nightmare. I tried to stay in the class as long as I could but after her rude comment "If you know that it is mathematically impossible to pass my class, Don't waste my time" I immediately dropped her class and did not regret it.!

I recommend to everyone not taking her class at all. I took her class trying to challenge my self even though the bad things I did hear about her. I end up becoming stress and depressed so I made the decision just to drop her class to better my self and health.

Professor Wachal treats ENG102 as if it's a graduate-level course instead of an associate-level course. The way she words her quizzes is tricky. No matter how correct or well written an assignment or paper is, she will find a reason to take off several points - to her, nothing is worth an A. She is very strict and not very inspirational.

Worse teacher I have ever come across. She is very strict on what should be done in every assignment and you will get a 0 if you miss one thing. Make you feel like you cannot ask a question. I had her for english 101 she wasn't that bad I even passed with a B but this semester I have been through so much family stuff its harder to just focus on school and she has been the must uncaring teacher ever she says its life and were adults so we have to deal with it.

Best advice I can give is not to take this teachers courses. She is inconsiderate and doesnt care about her students. I recommend finding another professor. She will make you feel like nothing is good enough for her and if you email her she will put things in caps as if shes yelling! WORST TEACHER EVER!

Professor Wachal has been the most negative and demoralizing teacher I have expierienced. Every email interaction I had with her was negative. On the very first email she suggested that I should drop the class. After putting in hours of work on her papers if you miss one thing that is not in line with what she believes is right you will get a zero.

Barbra Wachal is a vary counter productive teacher. She will take all of your hard work and give you a zero and she offers no positive remarks. She does not care about her students and will make no exceptions for any family or personal matters. This teacher discourages learning and acts like her way is the only way. if it is not her way it is a 0.

Very unfair grader, read ahead because she will grade unfairly based on information that you haven't learned yet in the class.

Literally the most miserable time I've been in life. Grades as if we are a masters degree in English. Nothing but negative feed back. VERY wordy with assignments that make ZERO sense. Ridiculous amount of "rules". She needs to realize that her class is for an associates degree. She needs to r e l a x period. Do not take her classes.

Awful teacher. Clearly hates her job. She never gives an opportunity to ask ?s and muted me while trying to ask a clarifying question. She made a racist comment during class and is the least helpful, most unkind teacher Ive ever met. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES.

I had to drop this class because of how much work was given and expected to be done so quickly. She grades as if I'm supposed to be the best writer in the world. Feedback isn't even feedback it's just "get help from the writing center". the schedule also seems off it would say something is due a certain day when it' really due earlier. DO NOT TAKE

This lady doesnt care about her students success. She would fail you for mistakes you are suppose to make as a student trying to learn. The work load is ridiculous too. She types in Caps when you ask her a question like you are disturbing her. Dont take this course

This professor grades heavy, and she is very hard on students work even when you feel you did your best.

One of the worst professors I've had. Sets target word counts for essays. But don't you dare go over them. Or you lose nearly a whole letter grade on the paper. No matter how good your grammar or writing. She will still tell you there are numerous errors, but when you ask what those errors are, you get no answer or made to feel stupid.

While asking a question for a project/essay that was unavailable to retrieve the information for she instead continues to send irrelevant information about my question. Makes students feel very small and stupid about the work that they provide for her.

By far the most horrid prof I've ever taken. Graded based on if she 'liked' the work or not, and responded not to the rubric but rather to the story! claimed that I didn't follow format procedures and would not explain where I went wrong. Made an announcement rather than respecting syllabus criteria 2 days before its due and gave me a 0 for my work

She does not help you with your work. she will tell you everything you did wrong no matter how hard you try nothing is right. she tells you shes going to fail you if you do the slightest thing wrong. its like she hates her job.

Worst professor I ever had in my entire life.

I recommend you avoid this professor at all costs. I tried to contact her when I was struggling and she would often give me short and passive-aggressive answers. My GPA was at a 3.8 and now it's at a 3.5 because of her. Its a shame because Im a student in the A plus program wanting to save money.

She is very nitpicky and will report you for plagiarizing for the smallest mistakes that could be fixed (i.e. missed capitalization.), except she does not allow you to re take assignments. there is absolutely no extra credit. I did not find her criticism very helpful, I was left more confused on what I did wrong if anything.

She accused me of plagiarism because she missed my entire works cited page and didn't wanna read all of my paper, in which she assumed my mistakes were all going to be "the same throughout." In doing so, she said in all caps, "WHY NOT?!!??!?!" When I called her out, she didn't apologize or acknowledge it. Her critiques are vague and of no help.

Her expectations & grading are overly tough on a standard student. Minimal grammar errors will make you fail. My A+ declined considerably. She gave no effort in feedback/critiquing, just resorted her students to "go to the writing" center for help, instead of herself. Feedback is disrespectful & not genuine in serving student needs. JUST AWFUL!

Will read nothing but emails and grades unfairly based on first assignments. Not surprised by this based off how assertive the syllabus sounded.

In class you can write the best paper ever and she will tell you take it to the writing center cause "it need improving" but then the writing center says that its good & you don't need to change anything so you send in your paper and the center response and she will say " umm its okay you could do better" and then only give you half the points.

Uses AI to check for plagiarism but doesn't correct that if quote is from provided source + will shame when adding comments to grades. Responses are slow + unclear like instructions for assignments + syllabus. Changes rules for essays within days. Gives 0's on essays if less than 50 from total word count but only allows revisions if “complete”.

Incredibly rude. Submitted a wrong file and corrected ASAP. This was an online course. Tried my hardest to get her to accept my correction through two emails and a 2 canvas comments. 3 days later I get an email curtly stating she does not accept late work. Dropped me to a 60 so I dropped her class. Apparently she is reported often...

The worst professor I've ever had. I didn't check her RMP. She has no late work and will go back in and put in 0's for the quizzes I had forgotten to add some of my sources on my Essay and she had given me a 0 and said it was plagiarism. When confronted she basically laughed in my face and refused to change the grade when provided with the sources.

I can't believe that stlcc hires a professor who does not like disability and is down syndrome herself and they should fire her and hire someone else

She is very stuck up and believes our language is not college level but instead of helping you get better, she degrades your work. She made this class harder than it should be. She tells you the mistakes in your papers but then doesn't tell you what to fix and doesn't even allow you to revise and resubmit the work. Make it make sense.

All the teachers I've had are very understanding and want u to succeed, but this teacher doesn't . She believes that high school teachers are very easy going on the essays. I was in a college prep high school and my teachers had masters just like her. Just because you're a college teacher doesn't make you better than any other teacher.

Unclear assignments, no helpful feedback, and a bad attitude when you ask questions. Learned more online than in class. Avoid if possible.
