Mr. Farkas is a great Economics teachers that will give you amazing stories during each class lecture that tie directly back in with the lesson. MyEconLab is your best friend in this course as it is used for homework and tests. If you take this class expect good material and occasional lectures on the importance of patenting diapers.
Great
Farkas teaches you the content of the course more through interesting real-world stories (about his life haha) rather than reading off powerpoints. You must work for your A, and his tests are lengthy but doable. HW & quizzes are given often, but it will help you on the test. Take his class- it isn't the easiest but you will learn something :-)
Mr. Farkas is a great professor but expect to use MyEconLab for the homework assignments that he gives out after every class. His tests are easy if you just study for the course.
You will most likely pass his class, ceteris paribus.
Professor Farkas is extremely intelligent and well-versed in all aspects of finance and economics (and mostly every other subject)! He makes economics interesting by presenting amazing lectures with real world examples that stick. He answers all questions with clarity & will help you understand the concepts if something is unclear. Great professor!
He is a good teacher and you will learn from him and can pass the class. I would take another one of his classes.
I took his class during the summer last year, and unexpectedly we were his very first class. Overall he did a pretty well job, but the only thing I would complain was that he would constantly talk about himself. I didn't mind it at first, because his life stories were hilarious. It's just that he get distracted easily. BTW he wore TOMS everyday
Professor Farkas is kind, but his class was very confusing. He dismissed us early every single day, and he talked about himself most of the class during his lectures. He did not prep us enough for the test... He also said he would curve the final -- didn't happen. He did mention we were the first class he was teaching though.
Onlie class, very easy MYECONLab needed homework, quizzes, midterm, and final are on lab. VERY EASY discussions.
Professor Farkas is really great; his lectures are very interactive and involve a lot of student feedback. He even attended our study group after class. Expect a story with each topic. Quiz's are easy if you come to class. Homework is through myEconlabs. Midterm and Final are crucial, but you get 1 note sheet to take in with you.
Great lecture on multicultural events that tie into the topic. Homework on MeEconLab 2 Test reading is mandatory. Professor Farkas will make himself available to you to aid in clarification. Class attendance is needed. You will cover a lot of topics in a very short period. Gives great examples for the visual learner I will take this professor again
Tough test but if you read the textbook and study power points you will be ok. Lectures are interesting. Show up for class, study, come prepared with questions on the homework and they will get answered, prepare for quizzes. Turns what could be a boring subject into fun. He makes himself available to help I will take micro with Professor Farkas.
I took macro so that I could learn to adult, and did just that. From witty to insightful lectures, and a kind and compassionate nature I really had a blast learning about aggregate demand and the differences between real and nominal GDP. 10/10 would take again
Took him this spring semester for 2301, his class is interesting. He brings up current events around the world which was pretty interesting to me. There are only 2 exams , the mid term & then the final. If you study you will do fine. If you miss a homework he will reopen it for you. I believe showing up for class is a must b/c he gives quizzes
Professor Farkas is an exceptional professor who makes economics interesting. His lectures are clear, just make sure to ask questions if you don't understand something because new information is added to the prior concept each week! He is very helpful and truly cares for his students' success. Study PowerPoints, ask questions & do HW & you'll pass.
Professor Farkas was one of the best professor I've taken! His lessons are very clear and well organized. Class was easy and fun. He keeps you updated with what's going on around the world. Learned so much from him. Study study study for mid-term and final and do your homework. Would so take his class again!
He is amazing! Replies back to emails fast, gives extra credit. Everything is due every Sunday but you can honestly sit down one day of the week and complete all the work! He will help you pass, and dropped my lowest grade in order for me to get a B! How awesome was that!
THIS CLASS IS HARD!!! IF YOU ARE NOT A SELF LEARNER, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ON-LINE. THERE ARE WEEKLY QUIZZES, HOMEWORK AND DISCUSSIONS. TESTS ARE ONLINE, HOWEVER, IF YOU READ YOUR TEXT, STUDY THE AIDS GIVEN AND UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS & FORMULAS, YOU SHOULD BE OK. GREAT PROFESSOR! COMMUNICATION IS GOOD, SHE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT & A FAIR GRADER.
I don't think Farkas was very effective, he's not a bad guy but he's more of a surrogate for Pearson (the publisher for the book) than a teacher. Myeconlab dictates most of the work, so you have to pay for a book and software - boo. I wish I had researched him before signing up.
I like the grading scale, mr farkas was mediocre at best. Lecture he reads of PowerPoint slides and throws in funny stories. But it's straight from the book and the econlab. He acts like he cares but it doesn't feel genuine. You will succeed if you learn the material on your own from the book. Not for people that need help/attention.
Loved Farkas' class and would most definitely take it again. Farkas has A LOT to share about his life stories, but they're actually quite interesting (though he can go off tangent a lot too). You have homework every week on MyEconLab (pretty easy. do it with friends!) and he gives a mid-term & a final-- pretty hard so just study a lot!!
He is a great professor to take, although you do need to buy Pearson MyEconLab. He gives quizzes but he tells you the class before what it covers. He goes off a power point but he likes to give real world examples and anecdotes to make the class fun and for you to understand it conceptually. He is really helpful clarifying material. Take his class
Great teacher overall. Keeps you up during majority of the class period regardless of what time it is at. Relates in life examples with the lessons. All in all, he is a very detailing teacher that will assist you every step of the way.
He needs to be running the Fed. He is very wise and has class descussions about current events to begin class. It is quite fun to be in his class.
Awesome professor. Very easy to pass the class, occasionally read the book for the homework and you'll have an A. Tests are a little tricky, but make a thorough study guide. All his homework can be completed in a single day. Will take again for Micro Economics.
Mr. Farkas is a great teacher, it's easy to pay attention to class. There is a lot of homework, but it's easy to make a 100 and they're basically free grades that'll help bring up your grade. I've made C's on all my exams, and I'm still getting a B+. Mr. Farkas is very caring. Unlike other teachers, he isn't trying to make you fail, but pass.
Kept it 100
Gives bad jokes. Has to rewrite things on the board. Gives a good review for the final. I don't even want a major in economics but he made me consider it.
As usual, you should always study if you want a good grade and understand the subject well. He's a great professor, who teaches a lot of interesting things. He also gives extra credit, and is very attentive in making sure his students have efficient help or tools to pass the class. There is no reason not to pass this class with an A or at least a B
I WISH I COULD PICK MORE TAGS, PROF FARKAS IS AMAZING!!! SO EASY TO GET ALONG WITH AND MAKES YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND MATERIAL, TOOK THE 8 WEEK COURSE IT WAS VERY CRITICAL TO MAKE SURE I WAS STUDYING AND BEING ATTENTIVE, SUCH A GREAT PROF. ANYONE WHOS WILLING TO WORK HARD, STUDY HARD & ATTEND CLASS SHOULD TAKE HIM. NOTHING AT ALL BAD TO SAY! :)
Professor Farkas makes terrible jokes, lectures well, and "TAKES CARE OF US". 1 A, 1 C, and 1 D on the exams given and I've still managed to make an A. The in class quizzes are graded as participation. He has such an interesting life with hilarious stories. I suck at econ so I wouldn't take another course but if I had to it would be with him.
Professor Farkars is AMAZING! His lectures have the ability to incorporate economics with (hilarious) real life scenarios. He is very attentive and understanding of what the class needs and is always available during office hours to help with the class material. It also doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes.
Professor Farkas is an amazing professor. He gives a review before each exam and if you need additional help, he is always available to answer questions in his office.
I would definitely encourage anyone to take this professor. He knows a whole lot about the economy and is able to keep a great lecture going .I learned a lot of interesting things that I wasn't expecting to learn in one semester. Great semester overall!
Take him! Your semester will be a breeze with him. As long as you show that you want to pass and put effort into learning you will pass.
Liked econ 2301. Professor Farkas made class interesting and tried his best to help us learn the material. Hw and a quiz every sunday online. If you make an effort you will definitely pass.
Great professor, made me enjoy macro. Its a difficult class for me, but he made it much more understandable and his lectures were great and funny. He replies to emails and always available during his office hours for any help. Gave out extra credit for exams. Uses Connect for homework/quiz, its about 80-100 bucks. Take him!
He's pretty cool. I was hesitant on taking him despite him being a "hipster". Cool guy, though. Obviously, needs working with his teaching method, his lectures usually fly over my head. Nothing memorable, just okay.
I took him online for macroeconomics. It was an 8 week course. You have to watch videos and you get two attempts. The videos are helping for the quizzes. The quizzes you get two attempts also. He is an easy grade on Discussions. He gives reviews that are exactly like the test. He gave a 6 point curve on our first exam. I recommend him!!!
Took the 8 week macroecon. You have to buy the online book. Each week had 2-3 short lecture videos with super easy questions (unlimited attempts), 2-3 quizzes ( 2 attempts), and sometimes had discussions. Quizzes and videos were not timed and you can see the answers after the 1st attempt. 3 tests (1 attempt) , most of the answers were on quizlet.
Your only HW is chapter quizzes that are online. No book. He gives you a study guide but, not all of the material is there. That's where being in class helps. He gives you a cheat sheet for the exam which was a plus. He jokes a lot about econ and relates them to real life. I did terrible on the all the test. Quizzes saved me. Would recommend him.
He made econ painless. Uses connect for homework as well as quizzes. Homework is pretty easy and will help you with the exams. Exams are a little challenging, but he provides extra credit and you get cheat sheets. He lectures a lot but he keeps you engaged with real world examples and talking about current events. Definitely recommend.
Great professor! Homework and quizzes are online, you get 2 attempts for quizzes. Keeps lectures interesting by giving funny, real-life examples. Gives a review, allows a cheat sheet, and gives extra credit for each exam. Very understanding and always willing to help. If you put the effort, you'll pass without a doubt. TAKE PROFESSOR FARKAS.
Professor Farkas was a teacher that made waking up at 6:30 AM not so bad. I could tell he would go the extra mile for any student struggling to understand. HW is very easy, they are all through Connect McGraw. He gives us what we should study for in our "In Class Pop Quizzes". He offered us extra credit and cheat sheets on exams! Definitely take him
What can I say other than Great Professor! ..... literally he's so understanding and willing to help. Overall just TAKE FARKAS !!!!!!!
He is a very good professor. He gives great lectures on economics. Makes you buy an access code to do your hw. I personally hated the system because it does not help you learn. To some the test are very hard, but that is because they did not take advantage of the review and cheat sheet he allows on test. I would definitely recommend taking him.
He was professional, talented, knowledgeable, clear and always available to help you learn better. He made me to love the subject and it was a fun life changing experience.
He was one of the greatest professors I've ever had. His lectures were interesting filled with knowledge and real world scenarios. He starts his class off with news and how it ties in with economics. I learned so much not just about economics but life lessons! Best thing was his jokes! He actually cares about his students which is amazing.
If you take the class and if you do not pass there is something wrong with you. The online class was an Easy A! i HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS AND WOULD TAKE AGAIN!
