Def. take her! Maybe no1 has taken her for 1100 because I LOVE this professor! She is the absolute best professor that I have ever had in my life. She really teaches, and her lectures are the BEST EVER! She has high but realistic expectations, that's all.

I'm sorry but i love Prof. Rosen's class and i'm an EXTREMELY lazy guy so i think that if you put minimal effort into her class you can get by with a B. All of the people above probably never went to class or handed in any work...thats why they hate her.

She is a great teacher. However she is not easy. She doesn't give a lot of homework but a lot of in class essays.

okay alotta people hate her guts. but honestly yeah shes picky with the essays that u write. but she really improves ur writing. she gave me a passion for writing =). advice is just go to class and hand in work. she gives no tests. final was a breeze.

I didn't think I would do so great in this class cuz this lady seemed almost robot like in nature, but I went to class, did my work(mostly at the very very very last minute-10 minutes late 2class still printing it out at the comp. lab sort of late)igotan

Professor Rosen is real cool. If you apply yourself its real easy. She's very understanding. All you need to do is make an effort to participate and do homework. She's a lot better than most english professors on campus. I suggest you try to get her.

She is really nice. Just read the stories and you will be fine. The only problem with her is that she takes too long to grade the essays. Other than that, she is cool. I was never too fond of english but I actually like it now. The stories she chooses are interesting.

She's a tough cookie but as long as you do the assignments you'll be fine. Don't sleep on her she will give pop up quizes!!

She is a really good professor because she makes the class interesting. The essay questions are given the class before so you have a day and a half to figure out what you're going to write. The only thing is, she takes FOREVER to give back papers.

Even through she a demanding professor. She teach you the materials until you understand it and essay questions a day advance. If you do the reading and take some time of what to write on the essay you' ll be fine.

She does actually make her students do work and you do have to read if you want to pass the class. But she is really nice and if you respect her she respects you. Plus she knows what she's doing so it's completely worth taking her class. She makes it interesting.

this is one great prof, everyone says shes difficult, but all she wants is for u to do ur work, and listen and be active in discussions! shes great, a got A's on all my essays, and in the class. shes an amazing smart prof

She's really nice as long as you stay on her good side in other words doing your work and actually being in class. I got all A's on her essays which she gives the question to you before the essay anyway. Just read and participate in class and you'll be fine.

She is a very nice lady, she might look strict but she is patient, comprehensive and helpful. I am sure as long as her work is done, you can be safe with her.

The reason why SJU Students don't like her is because she makes you do something you're not used to do, WORK! She is so willing to help you out. All you have to do is READ THE ASSIGNMENTS!! She gives you the question for the essays ahead of time - just READ and you'll get an A!! SHE IS SO NICE TOO!!! She might be strict, but you'll learn alot!

Great Professor. Very competent at her job. She makes the class very interesting. One of my best classes this semester, and I am not even a big fan of english. She helps you every step of the way. She is not an easy A, but if you are focused and not lazy, you can earn one, I did.

She is a great professor, and i thought she was funny. She's not an easy A you actually have to do the work but its not hard work nor is it a lot of work. Read the stories and participate in class . Honestly dont be affraid to talk in the class, it helps. she's not one to shy away from talking about sex which most of the poems are about. i had fun!

She's Funny! I enjoyed coming to her classes. Yes, you have to work and read--College, duh. But just a tip on your essays...she's into lengthy material. She's sweet--Take her! you will be enlightened.

She's real funny..has a great sense of humor that will keep you intersted in her lectures. Just keep up with the readings that are extremely simple...only takes a half hour to read them and take personal notes.

Pretty good class, she's a fair grader. You're gonna have to work though. I got an A-, but it didn't come easy. Just make sure you do the reading, because all of her tests are essays. But she gives you the question the class before the test. Overall, I'd take her class.

I LOVED HER!! She's very funny and I actually looked forward to her class. There are readings assigned every night and make sure you know your stuff before class! PARTICIPATION & ATTENDANCE IS KEY! Don't be shy! After this class I really started liking poetry alot!

I took this professor off of the recommendation of a friend who also gave me some of her work. She gives 3 essay tests with the prompt beforehand, quizzes every few classes (more often if people don't participate). Theres a lot of reading, and A is definitely possible, but annoying to achieve. Easier profs for ENG 1100 are available though.

She is not a horrible teacher as prior comments have explained. She is very passionate about english and it definitely helps in paying attention. does tell alot of jokes. but she tries. all you have to do is make sure you read or skim stories bc most of the assignments are essays on them. stay involved and try not to come in late.

The only reason some complain is that they simply don't do the work. If you read and participate, you'll be fine. I loved her. She's funny, smart, and available any time. Probably the student writing the worst comments is the one we all hated in class because he was combative. The best class was when he was absent. Told professor he wont read

She's very enthusiastic and assigns interesting things to read. If her exciting personality doesn't keep you awake, her pop-quizes will. So do your readings & be prepared. Only complaint is that she's a very strict grader but she allows revisions on essays too. PRINT the stories, don't buy the book!

I really dont know what the deal is with ppl hating her but she really is not that bad. Easy A. Tips: read the stories online or go on sparknotes. review ur notes for essays the nite be4 and memorize the essay word for word and then rewrite it in class. This is all I did and I got an A.

ppl rating ehr badly are lazy. easy professor for english. she tells u exactly what you have to study and what will be on the exams. she even gives u the test questions 2 days beforehand so that you have time to study and be ready. 2 essay tests, 1 test on poetry, paper and final. she gives everything be4hand. if u got lower than a b its your fault

Professor Rosen was great!!! I am going to miss this class very much! A few tips to ace this class: come to EVERY class possible (she will give notes which will later be on the tests), take good notes and pay attention. She respects you if you participate and do the hw which really isn't all that bad: 10 or so pages of a play or 4 poems. AWESOME!!!

She is a really funny professor. She grades essays hard but lets you re write them for a better grade. She can always be reached for any questions and is straight to the point about everything. Make sure to be early for her class and always there . She loves people who participate in her discussions a lot.

She really is a great professor. Very knowledgable about literature and poetry and the stories we read were interesting. Her exams are entirely essays that come straight from the notes so if you take good notes you are set. and she gives the exam questions before so just write up an essay commit it to memory and write it again in class. easy A

This was one of the few classes at st johns that ive looked forward to going to and actually enjoyed being in. professor rosen knows her stuff and tries to make the class engaging. i remember she used to talk about sex alot. lol! the only ppl who fail this class are the ones who sit in the back and complain. btw she does give pop quizes

Professor Rosen is one of the best professors ive had thus far at st johns. very intelligent and knows her stuff extremely well. there is no reason why anyone should get lower than an A because she lets you revise you tests to get a higher grade. did that on my 1st test and went from a B to an A on it :)

She was a good professor. I had her for a 3 hour night class and I enjoyed it. The book is not one that can be purchased online, but she gives you the option to just print all the materials and bring them to class. She let you revise work if your grade was not spectacular. I e-mailed her for help and she always helped.She was funny and interesting.

Gee--what a shock--an unhappy student. If you're unhappy with Prof Rosen--you're mentally ill! Or you're not doing the work! The best! Teaches life lessons, too!

Sometimes I like her, sometimes I don't. She can be annoying, like when she calls on people she knows don't know the answer. Despite her sometimes annoying qualities, the class is an easy A if you do the readings and take note of her interpretations, and repeat them back on essays and tests. Stories are more often that not interesting.

Prof. Rosen is a WONDERFUL english teacher. The stories you read are very interesting and she really knows them well and she will help you understand them. Go to every class and take notes. Read the stories (not sparknotes) and you will get an A. Essays are "hard" but I got an A on every one! If you are a good student - you will do well! Take her.

So good, so funny. I liked Prof. Rosen so much and always looked forward to her class. Someone said she treats her class like high school. NO. Not at all. She treats us like the adults we're supposed to be. Maybe you should just do your work and stop having a high school mentality like alot of sutdents here.

Great professor! She is funny and witty. She makes jokes but still conducts class very well. Come prepared, do the readings, do the work, and put effort into the class and you should do well.

I was in that LST class. Never did the professor ridicule anyone. She is the most energetic professor I've ever had. Helpful and caring. I know how deeply she cares--she got major help for someone in need in that class.

I had Prof. Rosen for Public Speaking this past semester. Honestly, one of the best teachers I've ever had...anywhere! She's so sweet and wants you to do well! She always has something nice to say about your speech and makes a nerve-racking class a lot easier to get through.

Professor Rosen was my favorite professor! I was so nervous to take this class and about having to give speeches but she helped me to start overcoming my fear. Easy class, she wants you to show up and there are a handful of impromptu speeches along with the regular ones, but they're fun. I highly recommend you take her!

Nice lady, certainly funny. But as a communications major and a person with complete confidence in and experience with public speaking, I found her to be a bit harsh. Unless you're PERFECT at it, and nobody is, you'll never get above a B. She flat out said she never gives A's, even if they deserve it, and she told me I deserved an A. Not cool.

Prof Rosen is an excellent teacher. She certainly gives A's cause I got one. She just doesn't gives A's at midterm time because she wants us to strive all semester long. She's just the best teacher I've had at SJU. I plan to take her lit. class in the future.

Professor Rosen=perfection. What really blew me away was how quickly she responded to me when I e-mailed her, even on weekends. She knows her stuff. Take her class, any class she teaches.

Participation matters and she takes note of late people. Usually tells the homework assignment a few minutes before class starts which is weird. 4 or 5 essays, a lot of reading, 1 final paper and exam.

Great Professor; loved her online class; very clear and concise. Get's back to you if you have a question. Really laid out the course well. Understandable.

i love professor rosen!! for this class she uses about half the class for lectures then has us write out answers to possible questions we'll be asked at interviews. those are graded. also one group project writing a memo. its very straightforward. midterm and final are both in class writing assignments also straightforward.

Professor Rosen was one of the best professors at SJU. You learn so much and learn how to properly write a memo, business proposal, resumes, and cover letters which are useful in the business world. She is tough, but she wants all her students to do good and pushes you to your full potential. Really liked her class and miss her

Prof. Rosen is one of the best English professors you could take. I had previously signed up for 2 other English classes and dropped them before the first week of classes was even over. With Prof. Rosen, she does not demand too much and the work doesn't take too long. Other English professors demand a lot more of your time than Prof. Rosen.

Great prof. This class was fully online and Prof. Rosen's course is well organized and easy to follow.

She is a nice lady and solid choice for an English elective course. No meetings, only reading and one-page reflections every week. Midterm and final consisted of larger essays about multiple stories we read. The work was easy and she was an ok grader. Pretty picky on certain things but still ended up with an A. I would take her if u get the chance.

Honestly I loved the readings she gave us. She assigns 6 essays throughout the semester and a research paper. Make sure to always read what she assigns because she expects you to know it for the following class. She is a tough grader but a great teacher.

Participation is a MUST! She gives a pop quiz if participation is lacking (read the stories VERY well, know everything) She assigns 5 essays that you can improve for a better grade and a research paper worth 25 points. The final was an in-class essay, and we were given the prompt in advanced I recommend her. Write notes and use them for essays

Prof. Rosen runs a well-organized course with manageable workload. The material can be intense, but engaging with the readings and using study tools like Unstuckstudy make this class doable and worthwhile.

Lots of reading but thats expected for an english class. Weekly discussions. It's easy but I would not take again.
