Nice guy but cant teach for if his life depended on it. he has horrible hand writing and abbreviates everything. some words that he says are unclear and sound like something else which only confuse u even more....DONT TAKE ACCOUNTING WITH HIM!

Do not take him! By far the worst teacher. The class is pointless because he can't the material teach. His notes are messy and don't even make sense. book is absolutely horrible so there was no help there either. Tests are impossible

Very Nice guy, HORRIBLE teacher. If you have problems with the work he wont help you, but he will tell you to get a tutor. Dont learn anything in class and he doesnt teach.

not clear at all, has very scattered notes all over board, doesnt teach... he always threatens to give pop quizes and collect HW but never does... hes a nice man though...

DOESN'T ACTUALLY TEACH.This teacher was so unclear in everything that he did. Had chicken-scratch for handwriting and thought he was the worlds funniest commedian. He would never make it clear as to what you were going to be learning and from what chapter or section of the book. If you don't ask questoins you'll be lost forever. I failed the class.

VERY HARD CLASS! half my class dropped out! hes a nice guy and somewhat funny, but he doesnt teach, he just talks about concepts. accounting isnt super hard but he makes it that way. do not take him!

Half of my class dropped after the second exam. Never curved. Talks to you like you already know the subject. Horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

He comes in late all the time & lets you out early. Then he doesn't teach but instead simply goes over the HW. I did all my HW yet could barely pass the tests. Right before the drop deadline I had a D in the class & he told me I was doing great and to keep trying! I'm an ACCT major; I need a C in the class! Needless to say, I withdrew.

This is the worst teacher. Nice guy but incomprehensible handwriting. Doesnt teach and all he does is go over hw. I went to tutoring and still witdrew. Terrible jokes too

HORRIBLE! He cannot teach anything since he seems more intersted getting out as soon as possible than actually teaching. He runs through all the material, expects you to do all the homework (every week) which you basically have to teach yourself. He cannot write properly on the board so you can't at least catch up in writing. I regret taking him!!!

He is a very bad teacher. The people saying hes just as easy as the other teachers are completely wrong. His first test I got a 21% after going to tutoring in the library. The following semester I took the same class with Arundhati Rao and got a 91% DO NOT TAKE HIM

Professor Buchoff was quite difficult. YOu really have to do all homework or you will fail. While he seldomly checks it, you will not do well on tests without it. He stresses that accounting has building blocks so if you do not understand Chapters 1-3 you won't understand 4-6. If you would like a teacher to teach you choose another

He is a terrible teacher who never reviews the chapters and only goes over homework problems during class…. very unhelpful

He quite possibly is the worst teacher i have ever had. He refuses to go over chapters, and he only goes over homework. I could have gotten the same grade by never showing up at class. Do NOT take a class with this professor.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is the worst accounting Professor I have ever taken. He is also a jerk and favors the boys in the class. He thinks that girls can not be good at math and accounting. Avoid him at all costs. Take Rao if you can.

Try not to take him. Doesn't teach. Only goes over homework the entire class that you learn on your own from the book. Takes attendance every class. One positive is that all exams are multiple choice only. I didn't learn much and am retaking it with a better professor because I got a C. Do your homework because he will call on you for answers.

Save yourself and do not take this professor!! Keeps you in class for only 30 mins but only goes over the homework during class. Expects you to know accounting before you walk into the class, and if you don't you will not pass. Most of my class had to withdraw form the class because they were failing.

Imagine trying to hit a 95 mph fastball blindfolded; that's Buchoff's class. I dropped his class because it was the worst thing I have ever had to deal with in my life. He is not clear on anything, keeps you in class about half the time, and assigns homework without telling you what it is or how to do it. DO NOT EVER take his class.

worst prof I've ever had. doesn't teach AT ALL, which is impossible for this being a first exposure to accounting for many. you are told to read the book and do the homework and come prepared. all he does is very quickly go over it and write notes on the board that only he can read. avoid him.

Would not take this professor again. Just reads off definitions, does not go over how to preform accounting things like balance sheets, statements of cash flow, etc. Be prepared to nee to do a lot of reading and self teaching. The book isn't the greatest resource either, it does not go into specific detail about how to preform basic accounting.

Probably the worst professor i have ever had. He doesn't really go over any examples on how to do anything so you are going to have to teach yourself. Would definitely NOT recommend to anyone.

This was single-handedly the worse course i have ever had to endure. The tests are incredibly hard and Buchoff goes through the slides extremely quickly. He does not even teach, He lets you out early every single class. If you want to take a class where you have to teach yoursself how to be an accountant this class is for you.

Buchoff was the worst professor I have had. He doesn't teach whatsoever. You teach yourself everything about accounting. He has powerpoints, and he skips over the majority of the slides because "you should already know this." He is overly rude to students that didn't complete their homework. I am very glad I don't have to take his class any longer.

Would not reccomend anyone to ever take his class. Tests are tough because you have to teach yourself everything, and he doesn't tell you what to prepare for. Sitting through his "lectures" feels like a complete waste of time, and if you skip his class, he'll fail you. He doesn't show any examples of how to do anything. AVOID at all costs.

Do not take him unless you're ready to teach yourself all the material. It is a self taught class, and he doesn't teach in class, but it is mandatory to attend. If you want to have a super stressful semester, then he is definitely the profesor for you. A tutor doesn't help and neither does he, just don't take him. You won't do well.

If you get stuck with him, please have the textbook before the class starts and read the first chapter before the first class. This class will be 99% of the textbook. You will basically teach yourself. He barely does any teaching in class but still takes attendance. Only 2 grade types, attendance and tests. Try your best to avoid.

Buchoff was a really tough professor. I ended up dropping his class because he was just a bad teacher in general. I didn't learn anything from him and basically had to teach myself. I would definitely recommend taking a different professor unless you want to put all of your effort into this one class.

I came into Buchoff's class expecting a bit more. He's a nice man and pretty understanding, but his actual teaching skills were below par. Most of the class was teaching myself out of a textbook, he rarely gives lectures, and when he does he blows through the slides and leaves everyone confused. Don't take him if you can help it.

you basically have to teach yourself in his class. He does not teach during the lectures so much as go over things he presumably thinks you already know. You NEED the textbook to even have chance of passing. My advice, get a tutor if you're in his class and learn the material there because believe me you will not learn it during lectures.

He is a very nice person and a nice person to talk to outside of class. But as class goes, it is very lecture heavy and reads straight from online power points. He knows accounting and knows what he talking about, but doesn't teach the content well. He pretty just reads the book to the class, but doesn't explain how to do the problems.

Get ready to teach yourself if he is your only option. He moves very quickly and erratically, his lectures can be hard to follow. The book is required and I recommend the online book option. The added resources are the most helpful because you will learn very little from lecture. The only positive is that he'll go over some questions in class.

This class is self taught. He does not explain concepts clearly. There was multiple days where he would skip 50 slides in 10 min assuming you knew everything. I would stay away from this teacher unless you can teach yourself by yourself. This was one of the hardest classes I have taken due to the professor.

You'll have to teach yourself. His leactures are pointless. He doesn't teach you, you teach yourself. If I would'vee known this, I would have taken this online instead of wasting my time driving to school.

All the reviews you see about having to teach yourself are 100% accurate. Buchoff is shockingly inept at teaching. He knows his stuff, but can't or won't teach material, leaving it up to students to figure everything out on their own.

Everything you see here about having to teach yourself are so true. This class is just him telling us what chapter to read and what homework problems to do and then the actual in class time is just him going over the homework on the chapter we read, he doesnt teach us! Would not recommend his class. If you take him youll be teaching yourself.

All of the comments about teaching yourself are 100% true. The tests are multiple choice however, they do not reflect how the homework is set up at all. You HAVE to teach yourself in this class or you simply won't pass. Prof. Buchoff is a nice guy, but he just lacks fundamental teaching skills and doesn't clearly explain anything he teaches. He expects you to understand the material the second he teaches it, and gets irritated if you don't know. Participation MATTERS in this class too.

He does not teach a thing, just asks question and gets upset when we don't know the answer. Grade is heavily depended on tests. 3 tests each worth 100 points. There is 40 points for hw and participation, but that's it. There are 3 HARD hw due every week, and they count for basically nothing. Do not take this class, the stress is really affecting me

Never again!!!!! He grades very different and will not tell you that tests determine if you pass or fail because he adds everything to 400 and tests take up 300. My biggest regret this semester. If you love your mental health do not take this class!

He assigns a lot of homework that is hard and very time consuming that only accounts for a small percent of your grade. The tests are most of your grade and with there only being 3, doing bad on one may hurt you for the rest of the semester. He does not teach and just assumes we know things because he told us to read countless pages for homework.

If you care at all about your mental health don't take this class! I learned nothing by attending class and his lectures confused me more than doing the work myself. His grading is extremely unfair. Worst professor at Towson!

Don't take this class! I had to drop it because he is so unfair with his grading. I noticed so many students cheated on the second exam just to pass his class and he never even noticed.

Avoid at all costs. Like someone else said, he expects you to know the material even if he hasn't touched on it. Classes consistently let out early after breezing through 60+ slides of a powerpoint and he will spend the first 10 minutes taking attendance.

This has to be one of the worst professors at Towson. Not much in depth teaching and more of him just scribbling on the board. Cant read his handwriting and don't understand what he is saying. Barry is past his prime and should think about stepping away, don't take this class unless it is your last option.

Professor Buchoff expects you to understand three chapters worth of material within three weeks for each exam. The book he assigns is very difficult to read without falling behind and the homework's are unnecessarily long. Exams make up 75% of your final grade, but he does curve them by quite a bit.

If you like comprehending nothing from the professor's mouth, Buchoff is for you. He only uses PowerPoints from the textbook provided and does not explain anything in detail, proceeding to speed through a slide with a lot of information. He writes in tint shorthand that you can't understand.

Please do not take this class with Barry. I'm usually an A's and B's student, but I am expecting a low C if I even pass. Barry expects you to know everything in the chapter immediately. There is so much material, you can't possibly remember everything. He zooms through the slides without actually teaching you how to do anything. Save yourself.

If you can take another professor just do it. This entire course is graded off of your exams which don't look like the homework. I legit got a D+ and he wouldn't round it either because he has no heart, he is also is extremely cold when you go to him for help. Overall terrible and I have beef w this man.

Class taught as if you already know the concepts of acct. Exams are completely different from the MML you do at home to study the chapters. Hardest class ever taken, I knew it was going to be hard but didn't expect the class to be taught as if you know the subject. ACCT 201 is the 1st class of accounting, and exams were hard as if I were a CPA.

Just swapped out this class. I only went to 2 classes, by the second class I knew I wasn't going to be able to comprehend his teaching style. He teaches like we should already know accounting and I don't have time for that. Swapped out the class while in his class.

He will yap your ear off about nothing. Every class I had most of the students would be asleep I HIGHLY recommend you DONT pick him as a professor. Everyone else is great besides him. He a cool guy though.

Seems to be a nice guy and he obviously knows his stuff, just a bad overall teacher. Does not teach concepts clearly, making homework's very difficult because he dosent really teach it. Teachs incredibly fast making it hard to grasp what he says and acts like you should already be an accounting expert.

Take another proffessor if possible. Im not sure how this man has been able to work this job for as long as he has, because he just simply is not good. He cant teach if his life depended on it.

I genuinely find it insane that this dude is allowed to still teach. Hes a nice guy but he is clearly just getting too old to lecture at a university level. His class is an 1:15 long and he regularly ends 30 minutes early and rambles through the entire class. If you fail one exam you fail the class. Thanks for ruining my law school chances Barry!
