extremely easy class if you pay attention and study b4 tests...he's adorable with his accent and cute little british jokes..."goobly gop"..haha...i hate math but this was the best and easiest one i've ever had...GO GRIFFITHS!! :)
Ridiculously easy. You should not be in college if you got anything below a B in this class (maybe even an A). You don't even have to go to class at all. Just read the book as he reads from the powerpoints.
Of course, it turns out that he has a fiance. :(
A) he wrote the book, B)class follows book, c)great accent, c)just a nice guy, d)breaks down equations to definitions and simple word problems. good quizes too. exams every two weeks with the lowest grade of 5 dropped
Mr. Griffiths is the best math teacher! He is so cute and always explains things again. He wrote the book, so he knows what he he's talking about, and his lectures are based on it. He lets you out early and always does a good review before tests.
He is soooo helpful. If you suck at math take him, he's great.
He wrote the book, has a hot British accent, looks great but has a wierd walk, made math easy to understand and simple, drops your lowest test grade, and lets you out early everyday. What more can you ask for with a math class. GRIFFITHS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
Hott? I'm not too sure about that but he is a super nice guy! Follow along in the book, study for a bit for the exams and you will do just fine! Good luck! =)
ok, so this was the easiest class i have ever had. i went about 5 times (minus exams), and got an easy A. strategy: read the book, do the questions and practice tests, and go to lab. beware of unfamiliar topics by looking ahead (probability got me a bit)
It was a sad day when I found out he has a fiancee. She must be very lucky :-)
its weird... hes not particulary attractive, but once you add the hot accent and the whole math geek image, it kind of is a turn on. Oh yeah, and the class is taught very good too. Congrats on the wedding Barry G. SHes a lucky girl
Terrific teacher and an all around great guy. The class itself isn't too hard if you put your time in and study hard.
easy class... he only teaches for half an hour. tests are cake.
Very easy class. Very eay subject matter. You don't even have to attend class- just go to all the labs and you will be fine. Tests are very easy as well.
Pretty easy class. Power point slides are directly out of the book so lectures are kinda boring, labs help with test. Got a B, overall a great professor, very clear and easy to understand, explains the concepts very well.
Sorta easy class. Be sure to go to lab and do the homework problems in the book to get a good grade on the test. multiple choice tests, can be tricky, just make sure that you know what you're doing. Has a British accent, and is a friendly guy.
Easy class if you go and keep up with the work. Go to your lab and it will help you out a lot. You can get an A easily since he drops lowest grade! :)
Easy class...don't need to go to class if you can read and understand the book. Lab is easy if you ask a lot of questions.
I am not a math person at all and doing really well. he is a very very good teacher. The information is straight forward, no tricks. If you go to class and do the homework it helps too.
hottie!! lol great teacher, very clear, love the accent!! writes his own book, which is the slides he uses in lecture. don't even try with an early morning lab, i made that mistake :-(
GREAT TEACHER! I've had 4 Trig teachers here (they switched them often at the beginning of semester) and he was the best! Knows his stuff, teaches clearly, nice guy!
If your good at math it's an extremely easy A. If your not and you go to the labs and lectures i don't see how you can fail. He's very clear and helpful. And cute with a sexy accent.
Exams are easy if you do the review quizzes in the book (which he wrote) & study some. Go to class if you're not very good at math, he'll explain it all. He drops the lowest exam too. Plus you get a "legal cheat sheet" for every exam with the fo
keep up with the work, and go to the lab. if you keep up with that then you won't have to go to the lecture
Good class, go to labs if you need help. He's very helpful...and the British Accent is great :)
Barry's slideshow is in the book so its easy to follow his lectures. His tests aren't that difficult. If you can get previous tests they help review for his exams.
very good teacher..I'm hearing all over the place that his accent is fake. apparently he was born in TX and studied/mastered accents from all over. others have heard him in his office speaking "american" english, even with a southern accent. wei
GREAT teacher! very clear. if you remember high school algebra, you'll do good in this class. he'll help you every step. not confusing. gives an outlined paper of what will be going on day to day, no surprises... just study... it is math...
Wonderful teacher, great accent, cares about his students. Very helpful in office, and wants everyone to do well. Great guy, explains things well! I highly recommend this class! He is pretty funny, too.
He lectures straight out of the book so I didn't even have to go to class. Watch out though, he gets really angry when people leave his class early during the middle of his lecture. Easy A.
FAKE ACCENT? i've heard that too..what's up with that? I think he's from TX and is trying to trick us all. I'll look into it. Anyway, great teacher, i like his style.
pulled a b somehow, i thought it was pretty hard...HOT accent, even though its a little hard to understand him at times. GO TO LAB.

Lectures straight out of the book, no need to go to class. GO TO LAB! Drops lowest test grade. Should get an A or B.
He fakes his accent! that's so awesome. like 50 people told me they heard his real voice. he's so cool. take him.
He is good at breaking things down so you can understand and is an exellent teacher. If he was teaching Calculus, I would take his class.
good, clear math teacher. from england too, but im told he's really from NY and he's an actor. that would be the coolest thing ever
no, no, NO. worst teacher. i dont know about you, but i sure as hell can not learn from black slides with yellow font and no spaces between concepts. i had to fight to stay awake and asleep because his boomin voice interrupted my slumber. lab was bad
Great professor - funny :) The slides are the same as the book, which he wrote. Go to class, tests are tricky.
best teacher i ever had
this class was ok, the tests were kind of difficult but he did explain things in class.
Knows his stuff...he wrote the book. Take over summer, goes a lot faster. Easy-going guy and tests are pretty easy.
Professor Griffiths is really great. He really knows what he's talking about. He's pretty good looking with a HOT accent! Make sure you go to lab, there's a quiz every lab session.
Funny English Man!
He's soo nice, and he really helps you out, go to his office if you need help, really willing to help.
good teacher, sometimes moves pretty fast. love the accent :o) his TA's arent very good. The quizzes are difficult. Tests arent too hard. Overall a good teacher.
Very good teacher. Knows exactly how to break down the concepts and applications. If you miss class you can always attempt to teach yourself becaus eits all in the book. Also if that doesnt work theres always the labs to help you out.
he has messed up questions on his test
He wrote the textbook. You don't even have to go to class (lecture) as long as you show up to lab, do the excercises and of course take the tests.
confusing teacher when explaining lessons. youll pretty much fail if you dont go to labs (they are usually very early in the morning.) sucks!!!
Great professor - he wrote the book. Explains stuff really well - english accent. Tests are not too bad. Gotta go to discusiion.
Barry Griffiths is a great professor. No need to go to the lecture, everything he discusses in class is in the book, but go to the labs, you have quizzes every week. Pretty easy tests, all multiple choice. The best part is,he is so HOT!
Awesome teacher, dont really need to go to class but you should. go to labs becuae quizzes can hurt you. wrote the book, and is easy to understand according to the slides. willing to help at anytime. take him!!
Great teacher, funny, very clear, he wrote the book and the problems on the test are just like the ones in his reviews. You don't need to go to lecture but its recomended. He drops your lowest test score and gives a bonus question on almost every test. TAKE THIS CLASS!!

Mr.Griffiths by far has been one of the BEST math teachers I have had. He is very clear and explains his material very well. I would DEFINITELY take him again if I could, so I DEFINITELY recommend him to anyone interested in this class. Awesome teacher, easy A if you pay attention in class and study
This is the easiest class ever. His lectures are really good and very specific. If you don't do good in this class it's because you're just dumb and lazy. Make sure you go to discussion. Some people on here say his accent is fake, but it's not, he really is British.
Barry Griffiths is not a teacher by any means. He is not interested in helping you at all, covers material too fast, and I found him to be an all around cocky and unpleasant guy who takes himself way too seriously. His tests are not like his examples, despite his first day of class "myths" session.
Funny British guy. Good teacher. Lectures are entertaining (for math) and he stays after them to answer questions. Tests are straight forward but go to discusion as it counts for 20%
Don't listen to the complaints - he wrote the book, he knows what he's talking about. The slides on his powerpoints are taken directly from the book, and he gives TONS of examples so you know what's going on. Just go to class and actually listen/take notes. Easy peasy.
If you're good at math, this class won't challenge you a bit. The notes are exactly the same as the book, so if you read the book and learn well like that, you don't have to bother with going to class. The labs are a real pain though, they're worth a lot of points. PS His accent is SO fake.
Tests are hard, he is annoying and not helpful. Labs are really annoying, the GTA I had did not know how to answer our questions, and as the professor of the course, Barry should have taken control of the situation, and made himself more available to students. Take another class.
wow this class was ridiculously easy. i never attended class except for the first day to get the syllabus and most of the test days. i skipped a test to go to spiritsplash and still got an A. go to your labs, there is a quiz everytime. also, the teacher's accent is fake.
GREAT :) His finite class is fantastic. I am TERRIBLE in math and got an A. he is extremely clear and makes everything easy to understand. There is a quiz in every discussion class. everything you need to know is in his book. oh and the accent is definitely not fake.
everyone says this class is really easy, but im having the hardest time in there. i do his practice tests with no problem at all, but when it comes to the real thing, its 10 times harder. he's annoying as hell during the tests too and goes over the information in the lecture too fast.
Best math teacher I've ever had, I've never been good at math but I got an A. Made things very easy to comprehend and dumbed them down, for us lesser math minds. Excellent teacher over all, take Griffiths if you get the chance.
One of the few teachers that has renewed my interest in math. Great class, knows how to teach, great supplemental practice book (he co-authored) to go over what he teaches in class. Take the class, buy the book, do the practice problems and attend discussion/take quizzes, you will get an easy A.
Absolutely loved his british accent! Class was not really easy but not hard either. If you attend the lectures & take the quizzes in your discussions you'll make atleast an A or B. Only bad thing is he HATES when people leave during his class (he'll take 7 points off your exam).
THE BEST MATH PROFESSOR. NEVER SEEN ANYONE LIKE HIM. HE MAKES U UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT REALLY TEACHES U. VERY FAIR GRADER! GIVES PARTIAL CREDIT & DROPS THE LOWEST TEST GRADE. EVERYONE PASSES THE CLASS AND U ARE READY FOR CAL II. TAKE HIM!HE IS FROM ENGLAND SO HE KNOWS HIS MATH AND SPEAKS PERFECT ENG
professor is good. Buy the book, do the homework, attend your lab and you will pass. Dont be afraid to ask questions during the exam, he and the GTA's will be more helpful than you can imagine...
The best math professor EVER. Havnt taken math in 4 years, took calc with him, and got 100s on all the tests. You will NEVER walk out of class confused. Having him drastically reduces study time because he teaches so well. You'd probably get a B without ever doing hw, just go to class and take notes
The best proffesor at UCF i took cal I with him got an A and was very prepared for cal II and started taking calc II with him but had to leave b/c of finaid. however, the class was full everyone knows he is the best math prof at UCF do not drop out of calc II. if you have the opportunity to take him take it. He makes you understand it.
By far, the best calc teacher i have ever had. Very clear in his mathematics definitions and in his notes. We wrote them out so u understood as the class progressed. He's lenient in grading if he knows u tried. Very helpful and keeps the class going at a nice pace.

Clearly excellent
A very good teacher, (and sarcatic bloke :) )however the tests are not easy, but he grades fair. Take him early in your math sequence and stick with him and you'll be a math master. Although I don't recommend taking him for calc II if you didn't have him for calc I, you won't be as well prepared as the student's who did take him for calc 1.
very good teacher
I hate math, but after taking his class I actually enjoyed it. He was very clear on teaching the material and I was eager to answer questions at any time! This was the only math class that I actually knew what I was doing, and that I actually enjoyed doing math!
Very clear and incredibly organized. The tests are challenging but if you understood what he is teaching (and you will) you can pass the test with an A or a B easily. If you have any questions or are confused, he is willing to help you when you go to the math lab. Do the homework, attend all quizes and tests and you can pass with an A
A great teacher, it's great to be in his class, he explains everything very well, and taught a calc student new tricks!
Finite math is just a basic class. If you show up to lecture and go to labs then you should be set for exams. I would actually suggest taking Algebra instead, even if you don't HAVE to have it. Finite just felt like a waste of tme.
Awesome teacher, math is now tolerable.

he is very nice but his tests are very confusing and somewhat difficult even with the help of the lab
really good teacher. explains things well. tests are difficult, but he gives lots of hints in lecture. uses some interesting motivational techniques.
Yea, he gives good lectures and he wrote the book so all the notes are in it. BUT His damn tests are hard....on average only 5-8 of the questions are similiar to the HW and review test...the rest come from his math geek mind and are quite challenging..I find myself review the book work and notes with a british accent tho..weird
Do your hw, go 2 class, study for exams and you'll get an A.
I may be bias because I absolutely despise math, but he didn't impress me as much as he did a lot of the other people in my class. He's easygoing and friendly but he wrote the damn book so he's a hard ass about studying and coming to tests prepared to get an A. If the class average is too low, he'll lecture everyone. Expects a lot of his students.
yeah, i agree that he's tough but that's why i like him (can also be really funny). if your a slacker then dont take him b/c he expects you to work hard.
This class is really easy if you understand math at all. If you dont unerstand him, you really aren't going to get it any other way. Very clear, and gives many short cuts to make subject easier. Take advantage of the cheat sheets on the tests, they help a lot!

Most fantastic math teacher I have ever had. I haven't had an enjoyable math class since 2nd grade, but he made it funny, easy, and enjoyable. Everything is explained on your level, if you're not math-minded. If you are, you can work in the book at your own pace. Quizzes and tests are fair and straightforward. I'd even take it again!
Class is easy. You don't have to go to class because the class is basically slides that are in the book word for word. Just go over the book sections before the test and you'll do fine. And he drops the lowest test grade!
Made math that much more fun. Loved the class. Great professor!
By far the best math teacher at UCF! He wrote the book which looked like powerpoint slides that were identical to what he went over in class. I got a 100's on all his tests, and I am terrible at math... This class was a lot of fun but I think the best part about him was that he spoke clear english!!
very easy class! i love math and it comes very natural to me..so i never went to class and got an "A" in the class..even for those who arent into math...he makes it easy and fun. he has a rad accent and is ALWAYS willing to help..as long as you do all assignemts and study you will get an "A"..guarenteed!
spectacular math teacher..i had honors math all through high school and didnt learn anything..took prof. griffiths class and learned everything..great teching style (interactive learning)..easy tests (90, 88, 102, 102)..great way to get a good base in mathematics
I love him! I'm not a math person, but this class was easy! The lecture notes are posted online everyday, so you can just print them and bring them to class (go to class!!). He's a very good teacher, cracks funny jokes, and has the cutest British accent! He's really helpful one-on-one also. Study for the tests!
The best math professor I have ever had. He will personally tutor you if you come to math lab. The way he tests is also very fair. The test material reflects the homework and class lecture.
the. best. math. teacher. EVERRRRR! get this guy if you can. very knowledgable, great technique, fair tests. awesome awesome awesome
If you don't, it's pretty hard. He has a chart that he show after each test with the average scores, and on average it is correct. Most people who attend classes and do homework pass. He usually has one bonus question given out once per section.
i have no clue why barry has a chili pepper. maybe its because he has the best british teeth ive ever seen. his accent is cool. but he's a great professor. don't skip class and you'll do fine. he teaches right out of the book.
Great teacher. For people who dont understand math, he dumbs it down as much as it can be done. Fairly easy tests and lots of practice with online assignments.
Does a good job with lectures, and throws in some humor into the mix. Very strict with test procedures, however.
AMAZING! Love his teaching style. He is nice but strict. Will help you if you ask...do the homework & study your notes you will be fine. He also does proofs with the theorems so you actually understand where everything comes from. Also his british accent & sense of humor makes the class more interesting. I highly recommend him.
For someone that isn't good in math, this is a good class. His teaching style helps you stay on top of what's going on, but his tests are a little bit tricky.. DO ALL THE HOMEWORK on your own because that's the best practice! If you miss a class, he is always in the math lab to help.
The EASIEST math class I've ever taken!!! My old high school teacher would've laughed at some of this stuff. Prof is great (GTA's too).I rarely went to class; Prof wrote the book and it's so good that you really only need to go to the weekly labs (to avoid a zero quiz grade).
Great Teacher who gives you everything you need to make the grade, plus he's always available in the math lab to help those who want to be helped.
Great guy, very helpful, and pretty easy class. He always puts time out of class aside for questions or help. Easy A, and he makes you really understand. Dont take any body but him for math!
I retook this class with Barry and everything was so much clearer the second time. He is very articulate. Make sure you attend the weekly lab because a quiz is given. I wouldn't recommend taking this class with anyone other than Barry. He knows what he is doing!
i had Barry for algebra, finite, and calc 1 n i got all A's this guy is a damn genious he's this best teacher of all times i hate math but he makes it so easy if u fail ur a numnut im sorry...make sure u go to class and do online homework
Professor Griffiths is very clear in the way he teaches. He's also funny. His tests aren't impossible, just make sure you understand the material. He's willing to help you before or after class, and the way the book is set up (he wrote it) is awesome. He's good at letting you know how you're doing in the class. Go to class and you'll be fine.
honestly i thought this class was hard and confusing and i got an A in calculus in highschool with much more difficult material and i love math its just because he teaches at a VERY fast rate and doesnt write the steps at how he arrived to the next part in the equation.alot of the kids liked him tho i got a B.
Took professor for College Algebra and Calc 1. Really enjoy his teaching style. Teacher is prepared for class with examples and knows what he's doing. Calc 1 he sometimes challenged us with mistakes in his board work so that he knew we were paying attention. Very helpful in and out of the class, even via email.
Took him for Algebra. He's really funny, makes the class not too boring. He does go through things sort of quickly, but he's very thorough, so you're always totally prepared for his exams. Really knows his stuff, a great math teacher!
He' a good teacher. Take him if you can. He goes over everything really well, maybe even a little too much. And he helps you if you have to miss class, but try not to miss class b'c you'll get really far behind. His tests are pretty easy as long as you study.
Great teacher. Quite humorous at times even. Goes over the material VERY well, just make sure you don't miss class or you won't understand. Tests are pretty easy too. Also, make sure you do the online MathXL homeworks, or your grade will turn ugly!!
He is a very good teacher. The class is pretty easy but might get a little more difficult towards the end of the semester if you stop going. Otherwise, if you go to class you'll do fine. The text book makes it easy to teach yourself if you miss class or don't understand the lecture. I'v never done very well in math and I got 100's on a couple of th
He is really cool. I HATE math and this class has no math whatsoever. It was great. He has a british accent but speaks very clearly. Dont know the other prof. of this course, but take Barry if you can!
Math is my weakness, yet I found Griffith's class helpful. Very clear lectures. Online homework and quizzes are very helpful. Tests are ok. He's very clear and expresses interest in the students' learning; quite humorous as well.
Very good teacher. some sections of the book were difficult, some were easy. you must attend class to get a good grade because he sometimes talks about things that aren't in the book, and they will show up on the test. not too hard if you study and keep up with it. you have to attend labs and the GTA's usually suck, which was the worst part.
May come off as arrogant at first, but he has reason... he is very smart. Very clear when teaching. His tests can be a little tricky cause he likes proofs and theory so if you're not good in that area take a more straight forward professor. I got a C which is not a great grade but I still think he's an awesome teacher. he is always in the mathlab.
Extremely ez. Labs are kinda required, cuz there is a quiz every week. Do ur online hw and quizes, if you dont it can hurt your grade. It is impossible to fail the online assignments unless you don't do them. They offer step by step assistance, and give you 3 tries. If you do your work, the exams are easy. The lowest score I had on an exam was 95%.
Well first, I am not very good at math..it is my worst subject and this class was and easy one for me...but you must go to class and to the math lab to get a good grade. I recommend this class!
Good teacher but going to class is a good idea. Teaches directly from the book and I recommend taking notes and doing the pratice problems in the book. Labs and online HW is a must but overall a good class....
Easiest math class in UCF. Attendance is a very good idea, especially with the labs, and if you go there is no good reason to not get an A, no matter how bad at math you are. He drops tests, quizzes, math XL assignments, gives you five points on every test... And to top it off he's a very good teacher. If you fail you're just lazy.
Great teacher if you go to class and labs. Easy online work, challenging tests!
Barry Griffiths makes calc 3 about as easy as it can be. He is very fair about telling students what to expect on exams and what he expects out of them in general. He is a great professor and I would strongly recommend taking him if you are interested in a good grade and learning a lot.
Griffiths is a great professor. Always has a smile, good charisma. He is strict about attendance and will knock points off if absence is a habit or homework isn't done. On the flipside, he is very fair with grading. Tests/Quizzes can be challenging but they're not impossible. He's always easily accessible for help outside the classroom.
Great professor! I'm not a math guy, but he made my Finite Math class interesting. Also, he's really not British--I heard it from someone in the department!
The class is not too hard, even if you're bad at math. If you show up to lectures it is helpful and showing up to labs is mandatory for a decent grade basically. He drops lowest scores at the end and even though he makes arrogant comments once inawhile I'd recommend him.
Awesome professor. Explains everything clearly. Good (British) sense of humor
LOVE HIM!! Best math teacher I've ever had. I'm terrible at math but he made all of it so clear and never made anyone feel bad for not understanding. Super nice guy, runs the math lab! Helpful, friendly, funny. Very organized, sticks to syllabus religiously, and grades always returned the next class. If you can, TAKE HIM!
He is excellent. Im horrible at math, but he teaches it so clear and makes sure you know what you are doing. Just go to class and pay attention and you should have n oproblem receiving an A.

He's the best. Really cares about the students. Makes you go to class and do the homework. Tests are tricky but mostly from the book. Take him if you can.
Really helpful and realizes that most of the students enrolled in Finite have no interest and are also not good at math. He lets you know on the first day that your grade will be comprised of your work, but also on how much effort you put into the class. Try and take him if at all possible...he might only be teaching upper level classes next year.
Very straightforward teaching style. Tests and quizzes are very similar to hwk. He's very good at explaining concepts and speaks very clearly. The only thing I didn't like was that one q on the final was unlike anything we'd done. At least he only did this once in the whole semester. Overall, excellent teacher, would take again.
I wish he taught more higher math classes! Explains things well, writes everything he says on board; no surprises on quizzes and tests (except one crazy question on the final exam). Grades fairly, willing to give you back points if you argue well enough. Very reasonable class and teacher. Pretty boring class, but hey it's math.
I really didn't like him, he went way to fast, he takes off points if you don't collect the work from the day before. This was not a class i looked forward going to. Avoid him if you can.
Great Teacher, I took my first college class with him and it was a good one to start with. He drops the lowest test score and quiz so its a big plus. If you pay attention you'll do fine.
AMAZING professor. He actually makes class interesting because its fun just to listen to him teach. He's wity, funny, and smart. I took him for finite and I got an A. The tests aren't bad. Even if you don't do well on them there are lots of other ways to bump your grade up. Take him.
Great teacher. There isn't much else to say. I was never a big fan of math, but enjoyed this class and did well. He actually knows what he is doing and his class is very well planned out. Very smart professor that gets points across to students in a straight foward easy way. TAKE HIM.. you'll be glad.
Prof. Griffiths is a great professor who really cares about his students grades. I really enjoyed his class and he is the first person that ever got me to understand calculus in a way that makes intuitive sense.
Griffiths class is one of the best math classes I have taken at this university especially for Calculus 2. Drops lowest test grade and quiz grade at the end. He also always returns your test or quiz the next class period after you`took it. Depending on how hard you work in his class will determine how well you will do in the end.
Great teacher. GO TO CLASS. A lot of work. He's a bit picky on homework but always works with you. He lighten the mood with some corny jokes here and there and makes calculus VERY easy to understand. I highly recommend him, but don't think it's going to be a breeze.
I took this course during the 6 wk long summer B term. The class is 4 days a wk, 2 hrs a day. We have a 5 question quiz every other day. The exams are more challenging than the quizzes. Attendance isn't mandatory, however, if you aren't there to pick up your quizzes - which he returns by the next day, he deducts 2 pts -7pts for exams not picked up.
Very clear and smart but trust me, if you get an A its because you love math. For the average person its not a manageable A. You will either get a B or C. In every quiz he puts at least 1 trick question to prevent you from getting a perfect score. First day of class he shows how many ABCDF the previous class got and hes proud that there are few As.
This teacher is amazing!!! i had previously failed this class with maria capursi... i did grade forgiveness with barry and my average is a 95!!!! he really cares about his students. i would suggest summer its really easy. attendance isnt mandatory be him, but i would recommend it.. book needed for HW.. but he teaches his own way. plus hes pretty ho
Not only is he SO cute but he is a great professor. He finds ways to explain what you thought was impossible into perfect sense. He is almost always available for extra help too. He accidentally had his pants tucked into his socks sometimes. I recommend him if you need a math credit! Funny and smart guy. Overall enjoyable class.
Dr. Griffiths is a terrific professor. He is organized, teaches according to the easiest way students will learn the material, and always helpful. The tests are not simple, of course, but if you do all the hw and attend class everyday and absorb all the information, you can definitly do very very well. I got an A and was not overwhelmed! GREAT!!
great teacher. knows how to teach his students. barely goes by the book. has his own notes. the only time u will need the book is for homework. the tutors in the math lab suck. they might be able to solve the equation, but it is in the most incomprehensive way.
You MUST attend class, it's math it isn't exciting but he makes it bearable. All homework is from the text book and he doesn't want you to fail he makes himself available as much as possible to help. The math isn't hard (probably easier than college algebra) and he explains thing very well TAKE NOTES. Worth talking to get math GEP credit.
I am good at math and this teacher was very good at his job. open to questions. he is very smart and gives easier ways to learn the lesson. tests aren't hard, just attend the review and you will do just fine.
He's fine, but his graduate assistants walk around during class and reprimand you for every little thing. that was the major downside for me in his class. i stopped going and still got an "a".
Is a very good teacher. Clearly explains everything step by step. Could be an easy A, you just need to do the online homework and quizzes so you can get practice for the online test.
Definitely the best math teacher i've ever had... he really cares about how you do in his class and he is very helpful, you just have to ask him for help. He explains everything very well, tells you what to study for the tests, and explains things in the easiest way possible. Go to every class and do all homework and an A is possible.
An excellent professor. His lectures are very clear and he will explain anything you have a question on again to the class and try to be even clearer on what to do. He will take questions after class and he is very helpful. I strongly recommend this teacher. His tests are not overly difficult, grading is also very fair.
I took Calc II with Barry in the Summer of '06 as a freshman, and I still can't believe how awesome he was. Now, a semester from graduation, I realize that he may be the only true educator I've encountered at UCF. He'll change your life.
Really a good professor. He is very clear in his teachings and will give you every little shortcut he knows. Also is very helpful with any questions you may have. Even has a humorous side to him. The only knock I had with him is that he teaches at a fast pace. An "A" is definitely possible with him as your professor.
Professor Griffiths is the best teacher I've ever had not only at UCF, but throughout my entire LIFE. He makes learning concepts a breeze and actually has a very funny sense of humor. I could go on forever about this guy. DEFINITELY take him!
I took Prof. Griffiths almost two years ago. I just wanted to reiterate what a great professor he is! You must take a class with him!
He is honestly one of the best if not the best math teacher I have ever had. he explains every concept very clearly. Homework is mandatory but easy. i personally found the tests easy. offers a practice exam before every test. go to class and do the homework and you should do well. i strongly recommend taking him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Griffiths was an excellent math professor. He is definitely the best math instructor I have ever had. He knows everything he's doing, inside and out. He explains it very well and is open to questions. I strongly recommend him.
He is a great professor! Explains very well and very helpful during office hours. Highly recommend!
GREAT PROFESSOR! I'm an art major with a love for math, and ended up with a B. go to class, do the pre-tests and you will do well. He is interesting and teaches the info. very clearly. 20 question homework and 12 question quiz due almost every week. 4 quizzes, can substitue the final for a previous test grade. take him!
I failed the class the first time I took it, but this time around it is soo much easier. I took it during the summer, you learn a lot in a short time but he makes it so much easier. He really explains everything and helps anyone who needs it. Definitely take this professor!
I'm taking this class in the summer. It moves extremely fast but he makes it really clear and entertaining with a few jokes here and there. Class is mandatory in the fact that The first day you take notes, next is notes and quiz, next is pick up quiz and note. If you don't pick up the quiz its a point deduction. Great class and I don't like math!
I'm an English major so believe me when I say that even for those who truly despise math, it's a bearable class with this professor. You have to go everyday, and you have to study (obviously) but he pretty much holds your hand every step of the way. I definitely recommend him.
Excellent professor! I'm definitely not a math person, but I got A's on all the exams and it's all thanks to his teaching style. You have to go to class every day to keep your grade up, but he makes it somewhat interesting and is very clear in his lectures. Lots of opportunities to keep your grade up, and almost always available to help students.
SUCH a good teacher!!!!! He made everything so clear and explained everything in a way hat even I, an art major who is terrible at math, could get all A's on the exams.
This man is a mathmatics god. The first A I have gotten in a math course since middle school. He explains everything BEAUTIFULLY. It was a PLEASURE sitting in his class. I was NOT registered for his class, but attended his lectures instead of my professors and my grade went up to an A. Amazing guy.
Best Math Teacher Ever! I finally understood math for once in my life. If you take the time to review what you have gone over in class you will do well on his test and quizzes. If you need help he is always in his office. If you are not a good math student do not worry.. he will make you understand things you never did before. Just enroll!
Fantastic teacher. He's very good at explaining concepts in a clear and understandable way. Takes abit of a hands-on approach to teaching(like picking specific homework problems instead of assigning random numbers in the textbook). Very good, I'd recommend him for anyone, mathematically-inclined or not.
this man is amazing. he knows his stuff for sure and he enjoys doing math so he makes the class interesting. he grades a little hard but its for the best.i believe he can compute fractions faster than a calculator
Great Teacher. Smartest mathematician I have ever met. Retook calculus this year and glad i did, he made everything so much clearer. Lectures are well planned out and i never had to ask a question this whole semester. Test and quizzes are strict and formatting has to be EXACT. But, good teacher to have, he has my recommendation.
Professor Griffiths is awesome! I had him for trig before calc and i took him again on purpose. He really cares about his students and wants you to do well. He runs the mathlab and his often available whenever during mathlab hours. I passed with a C but did very well in math before calc(harder for me)...definitely take him if you have the chance!
Griffiths is a great professor. But calculus is a hard subject. You need to know your algebra before coming to this class. Quizzes are every friday and homework every night (not a lot). If you do your homework and look over it before a test you'll pass the quizzes and test.
Easy to understand lectures and presents everything systematically. His tests are very reasonable. Just do the homework when it's assigned and an A is no problem.
This teacher is really great. He splits up the chapters to about one or two a week and puts up notes for you to print out. He gives study guides before exams which are extremely helpful. He drops one of the tests, but not the final. But it is easy as long as you pay attention and do the study guides. I would definitely recommend him.
Griffith's is an outstanding professor. He knows exactly what he's talking about and could easily go into depth and get lost in his own words like some other professors, but he's perfected keeping the material simple to understand. He gives helpful reviews, gives an entertaining class, and goes step by step through every type of problem. Take him!
I took him for Trig and got an A. He is WONDERFUL! He makes class interesting and doesn't make student memorize useless information that you won't be tested on. His noted are sufficient enough to pass, no need for a book. If possible I would take all Math classes with him.
Just Awesome !! No other comments !!
He is crystal clear and does not bombard you with materials that you do not need to know. I took calc 2 with Michalak prior and got a F and now, I am getting an A/B with Griffiths. I think that speaks for itself, don't you?
SECT, I can see where he would be an amazing applied math prof, but I honestly did not feel like he was effective at teaching abstract concepts. At times he was frustratingly short and impatient w/ us in office hours..yet the way he set up class req'd us to spend lots of time there. Despite all this, Class was fun and he had rad jokes and advice!
I just read through 7 pages of reviews and didn't find one that didn't say he was the best math teacher at UCF. I agree, definitely the best I've had. If you have the opportunity take him
He really knows how to connect with the class. Grades are based on quizzes and exams. If you practice homework problems then an A is very possible.
He is the best proferror I've ever have! You have to work hard in his class, but you will learn a lot! he is also very helpful.
Honestly the best professor I've ever had. He explains everything clearly and concisely. As long as you take notes and read the book, you should be fine. If not, he's always willing to help out. He actually makes the class interesting.
best calculus teacher ever. I honestly think that I learned more in this class than ever in any other Calculus class. Highly recommended. Oh he is also kinda funny and has a British Accent which I think is pretty cool.
I swear, this man should be a comedian. He is HILARIOUS, he has an awesome British accent, and he's one of the best teachers at UCF. ALL of the homework comes from the textbook (which is fantastic). His tests and homework assignments are VERY fair. However, this is Calc 2, so don't expect to pass with flying colors if you don't put the effort.
Really nice guy, but is a tough grader. Explains things clearly and is helpful, but for tests be sure to study study study!!!
Great professor, this is a hard upper level math course but if you go to his office hours, he is extremely willing to help. The homeworks, quizzes, and tests are challenging but fair. Overall, the best teacher to teach this class!
Best math teacher at UCF. Explains everything very well. Tests are fair. Mandatory Homework. He made everyone in the class give a presentation on a math topic which was different but it was not difficult so it was an easy 5 points.
Great teacher, explained everything very well. He made homework mandatory but all the quiz questions came from the hw. And then all the test questions came from the quizzes. I failed calc II the first time around but ended up getting a B in his class and understanding everything he taught.
Best teacher thus far!! He is wonderful at teaching calculus 2 step by step that I never even used the book just his notes for Hw, and to study for tests.Really funny professor. Ill miss him alot I wish I could have him for all of my classes! but this is NOT AN easy class if you dont work hard you wont be successful. give it your all!
Barry Griffiths is the best professor I've ever had. I would highly recommend him to anyone. His lectures are organized and easy to follow. Not once during the semester did I find myself losing focus during class. He's a funny guy and his exams are fair. He's strict w/format (you have to be thorough in your answers) but it becomes habit quickly.
Although I expect a high B in the class, I really feel like I have the knowledge of an A+ student. He explains everything so clearly and so simply that I understand it just from the lecture. Uses his own hw, which I like. Study HARD for the exams and QUIZZES! Take the quizzes seriously, it's what ruined my grade. I can say I'm ready for calc 3!! :)
I had the pleasure of taking Barry's Calculus II class in the year that he came to Keele University (UK). Fantastic teaching, brilliant support for students and funny in the right places. Although there was no use of a textbook, that's because he wrote his own book for the course. Can't think of a bad word to say about him.
I hate the content of this class, but Barry is a good professor. The way he lectures is very helpful and makes the material clear. The biggest issue I have with this class is that he does not post practice tests so I feel like I'm going into the exam blind. Try not to take this particular class, but Barry is a very good professor.
Mr. Griffiths is a great teacher! He gives you the notes for each chapter that you fill in during class (which is why I would suggest you attend every lecture). He has a good sense of humor. Homework/quizzes/test all online. He does not drop lowest test grade. Fairly easy course, he is a great instructor. Textbook not needed.
Attendance not mandatory but HIGHLY recommended. Passionate professor that manages to liven up otherwise boring material. In depth notes are provided with numerous examples. Take advantage of the numerous homework and quiz attempts as the test problems are straight from them. Book not required.
Awesome teacher. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended. He's more than willing to stay after class and help you out. I expected a C, but ended up with a B in his class because he dropped my lowest test grade. HIGHLY recommend you take this course.
He is one of the best professors I've had. He gives clear examples that possibly can be on the exams (level wise) and his "challenging" quizzes prepare you for the exams.
This teacher is excellent. The course is not easy at all but he makes it manageable. I HIGHLY recommend talking this professor for all your math course at UCF. He is big on attendance though, but he is extremely helpful and always in the MATH LAB
I can see why this professor is in charge of the tutoring lab at UCF. He is very well spoken, makes class enjoyable with his jokes. Needless to say, you still have to study and do your homework to be successful. He's very amusing and wants his students to succeed.
Sent me an email when I failed the first quiz, and boy was I ashamed. He gets you interested in math and motivates you! DO HIS ASSIGNED HOMEWORK. He assigns the minimum number of problems to help you, and if you can do them you will pass his exams. He gave the best notes I've ever written down, I loved Griffiths and I'd take him again.
One of the best teachers I've had thus far. Very engagingfunny and makes the subject easy to understand. The class itself isn't easy, but he'll do everything in his power to help you pass (GO TO MATH LAB). If you show up to every class, do the hw, and study, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A or B.
He is possibly the BEST math teach UCF has to offer. Simply Incredible. TAKE HIM!!! And he sort of reminds me of the 10th Doctor.
He lives up to his reputation. He's pretty easy too only thing I found annoying is that it's an even split for HWQuizzesTest in his class all being 33.33% of your final grade, would prefer Tests being weighed more heavily.
Barry is one of the best teachers I have had at UCF. He challenges you to reach new heights and push you every step of the way. He does assign homework, which can be annoying at time but it prepares you for the exams. Practice other textbook problems because he use them on the quizzes. His class is pretty clear cut. Work hard A. Slack Off F.
Easily the best professor I have had so far at UCF. Was really clear in his teaching and really wanted you to learn. I felt like I had a strong grasp on material the entire semester.
UCF is fortunate to have Dr. Griffiths. He's a spectacular professor and he genuinely cares about his students. Do the work he assigns, go to class, listen, and you'll do well. He explains difficult concepts with great clarity. Take him if you can!!
Griffiths is one of my favorite professors. Show up to class to turn in homework/receive it. He has good humor, he grades fairly, and he wants his class to do well. His homework style takes a little getting used to. This is a very straight forward class, you do what is written and you will do well. If you have questions, he's willing to help!
Excellent professor. Homework every day. Tough grader but so helpful and humorous.
Professor Griffiths is probably the best math teacher I've had in my life. I highly recommend taking a class with him. The class isn't overly difficult but attendance is a must. If you don't show up there's no way to get the hw or understand concepts. The hw, quizzes, and tests are very straightforward and he works hard to explain difficult things.
Dr. Griffiths is an absolute superstar professor. Very intelligent, great lecturer and he genuinely tries to help every student to succeed. I am very grateful for the opportunity to be in his class. Seriously , the best math teacher ever! Lovely English accent as a bonus too. Highly respected and recommended.
One of the best math instructors I've had. It's hard to put my finger on it but something about his personality makes the lectures more interesting. The material can be challenging but Barry makes it seem simpler. It's crucial to attend every lecture. You'll be doing yourself a favor. Tests are straightforward as well. 10/10 would recommend
One of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are easy to understand and his exams and quizzes do not contain any surprises. Material is easy to understand if you show up and truly put effort into the class. He adds some humor to his lectures and is completely fair. All around great person.
This guy is hilarious and the best math teacher I've had. Lectures and examples are extremely helpful. DO NOT miss class. I lost an entire letter grade because of attendance. Tests are very clear and fair, I never felt like I was asked a trick question. Also offers better school and career advice than any department adviser I've ever talked to.
Great math teacher, if you have the chance to take this guy please do.
Barry comes off as arrogant when it comes to mathematics, but if you actually stay to talk to him or go to his office hours; which he has an open door policy, he wants you to see him when you are having trouble; he's really down to earth. He's British so there's that narcissism of were better; w.e . 3 Exams; Several Quizzes, Old school homework;
The best teacher you will have at UCF. He makes learning math fun and interesting, I was never bored during his lectures. There were 7 quizzes and 3 exams; they were a little difficult since, they were all long answers, but it was doable to get a good grade. Very forgiving grader, and he cares for his students.
Dr. Griffiths has a high amount of energy that makes the lectures interesting. He takes the time to explain things and always answers questions. It's important to go to class though because he assigns HW every lecture and does not post anything online.
Nice traditional approach to teaching. Very passionate about math which makes him a great teacher. His lectures are full of useful information so I wouldnt want to miss his class.
Dr. Griffiths has the true gift of teaching. Every lecture is perfectly structured with simple and straightforward notes, and various examples. Every example is conversational and he makes us feel like peers, not inferior beings. He specifically addresses mistakes that students typically make or common misconceptions and debunks them effortlessly.
Easily the best professor in the math department. He is hilarious and very blunt, calc 2 is a hard class, but he makes sure you know what you need to know and the rest is up to you. In terms of the class difficulty, its not easy. I am a math major and I struggled at times, but he knows what he's doing. Don't skip, you'll regret it.
I'm confident in saying Dr Griffiths is the best professor i've ever had and ever will have. go to office hours and ask him questions, he's always willing to help. homeworks arent helpful but the questions from the back of the book will help you a ton. gotta put the time in if you want to do well.
The best math professor I've had at UCF, and a very pleasant guy. Gives in-depth and energetic lectures that are easy to follow, and lets you know exactly what he expects out of you for quizzes and tests. Dr. Griffiths made Calc 2 seem like not such a herculean task as it's often made out to be.
Cannot emphasize how incredible of a professor this guy is. I almost failed Calc 1 and I was so nervous for Calc 2 but he made it possible for me to pass. TAKE HIM. He make the lectures engaging and actually really loves calculus.
Griffiths is an excellent mathematics professor, one of if not the best at UCF. His lectures are outstanding and incorporate class participation well. There's a heavy emphasis on explaining your process while working out problems on tests and quizzes which can be hard to adjust to, but it's worth it.
Dr. Griffiths is easily the best mathematics professor I have ever taken. The lectures are very engaging and very in-depth, and he makes it very easy to follow along. He's hilarious, and he genuinely cares about his students' success. As long as you show up to class and put in the effort, you will do well in his class.
Really entertaining lectures, I looked forward to attending them. I was most appreciative of all the help he offered outside of class. If you are willing to put in the work, I'm sure he would be willing to help you succeed.
Really Great Professor. His lectures allow you to take good organized notes with multiple examples. Very Fair grader on tests and quizzes as well. Highly recommend
This is my second year with Dr. Griffiths and I absolutely wish I could have him for every math class I take. The class is not very hard, his lectures ensure you know the material needed to do well on the exams, just don't drop the ball or underestimate any of his exams. Dr. Griffiths knows how to teach, and knows it well.
Dr Griffiths is one of the best math professors at UCF. He explains topics well and is clearly interested in teaching.
This is by far the best math professor I ever had at UCF. Clear and concise explanations, also very helpful at office hours if you're confused. Gives homework every class but it's a very reasonable amount and doesn't feel like busywork. Tests can be tricky but if you attend class and do the homework you'll be fine. Take this professor!!!
Griffiths is extremely knowledgeable as he teaches and endless amount of different math courses as well as Diff EQ in Italy. He is British, and has a bad temper/ will lecture class after the test about how stupid we are. Knowledgeable and helpful one on one though. Only 7 quizzes and 4 tests/ 1 final. He gives you the grade HE thinks you deserve.
Best profesor I've had at UCF. He teaches exactly what you need to pass, you're not going to see anything on the test that he didn't teach in class. Class is very organized and if you do the work you will do well. He wants to help you and was very nice when I went to office hours.
I was going to fail, would of failed with any other teacher. Mostly just me, his teaching capabilities are incredible. Anyway I made major improvements during the later part of the semester and proved by the end that I knew what I was doing. He literally took me under his wing and helped me pass, just because he cares. He prepare me for upper math
Professor Griffiths is fantastic! He's funny, nice and makes you want to come to class. I've never had a difficult time understanding calculus, so I may be a little biased, but he's great in the lectures his notes are not confusing. He writes down everything he says and displays it on the projector. There's a WebAssign for each section.
I was almost afraid to rate Professor Griff until I was done taking my calculus classes because I didn't want other students to take up his class spots he's so good! Professor Griff cares for his students, keeps it real in class, and will make Calc2 your favorite math class yet. While you will work for it, this man knows how to teach!! Take him.
Professor Griffiths is easily the best math teacher I've ever had. His class is engaging and made me want to go to lecture. His examples are helpful and he goes over every test and quiz and shows solutions and how to fix common mistakes. His notes are very clear and he is always open to questions. He genuinely wants you to succeed in class.
Professor Griffiths is by far the greatest math professor in all UCF, he is caring and makes sure you learn the material, also his feedbacks in general helps a lot, test and quizzes are completely based from lecture notes make sure you practice what he is giving you
I dont see why everyone is praising him on here. Lectures were pre-recorded & probably made learning the material harder, so when i went to his OHs for help he told me: 1.) i should already know this 2.) to look up youtube videos if i dont understand it 3.) ask his TAs & not him anymore if i wanted future help *Doesnt care about his students
To be honest, in person he was fine, he teaches pretty well but I feel like my biggest issue with him is his grading. His grading was ridiculous and provides no useful feedback on exams. His class is no walk in the park so I recommend choosing someone who is more of a forgiving grader. I had to drop the class because of this. Dont take if online.
Doesn't give quizzes to the online sections while he does to the face to face classes. However he will send out the quiz and will not give you an answer key. He will grade your work but will not tell you what you did wrong. This applies to the tests as well he will not specifically tell you what you did wrong. Extremely hard to learn in this class
Griffiths is a really great professor and does his best to help you understand the material. The textbook is just for extra help and the homework associated is much harder than the exams. Class is graded 20% for each of 3 exams, 20% for homework, and 20% for the final. Video lectures sent out every week. Overall amazing professor!
(Math Major) Professor Griffiths is great at explaining the concepts and answering questions. He is very approachable and willing to give you any help or advice as long as he sees an effort from the student. I enjoyed his Calc 3 class so much that I also took him the next semester for differential equations which he has also been great in.
Standard Calc 3. His quizzes and exams were very easy compared to the webassign hw and he always let us know what would be on them, never threw any curveballs, so passing is easy. A bit arrogant but he is smart enough to back it up. Don't take him if online, he just posts videos he records so it's hard to interact. Very solid choice for in-person.
went to him a few times for help & instead told me i should know how to do this stuff from calc. doesnt leave helpful feedback on exams and wrote on my 3rd test that i had no chance of passing this class from the start because i signed up for 13 credit hours and there was no way i dedicated enough time to his class. absolute jerk. AVOID HIM!
Griffiths has clear and concise lectures. Tests and quizzes reflect exactly what was learned in lecture. Very fair in that regard. My only gripe with him is his arrogant attitude. He actually told us that we were an embarrassment after our first test. "You are mostly engineer students. You claim to be elite so act like it". His rants can be vexing.
Oh my god I hate him so much. In the middle of taking his class for MAC2233 and he flat out tells us first day "A lot of my students fail this class in order to pass it next semester." That's ALL he says. His TA is ass and never shows the correct answers and you will NOT know your grade for the semester unless you ASK him after an exam. Won't help.
Professor Griffith was the worst professor I have ever taken at UCF. He was rude, condescending and put students down. It was not a positive learning environment, because he constantly questioned students academic abilities. Tests were very few questions and no calculator was allowed. Save yourself!
Wonderful professor and class! The material can be difficult at times, but Dr. Griffiths makes it easy to understand. He is very straightforward on what it on exams and quizzes and will never leave you guessing on what to study. HW is a great study tool and isn't too much. The textbook is never used outside of class.
This was my first time taking Calc1 and I was nervous about it, but Griffiths was amazing. Great teacher and tries to help students succeed as much as possible. Great at explaining & breaking down probs. Many people withdrew from this class because they did not put the work in. Do the homework, review the material b4 quizzes & exams & will succeed.
Has the be the worst professor I have taken at UCF. He put students down and sets them up for failure. On the first day he put everyone down saying it's almost impossible to pass the class, and most students fail and this is just preparation for them retaking it. His tests are only a few questions and he takes off points for equal signs. 0/5!
He is the worst. On the first day he said most people fail this class and have to retake it. He says you cannot know your grade and only have 2 chances to ask what it is. Stay away he is so mean and will discourage you from doing well in the class. Take it with someone who actually cares. He will put you down.
He is the best. Calculus 2 is really challenging class but this guy knows how to teach. Take him
I can not say enough great things about this professor! His lectures are clear, organized, and include many examples to help you understand the topic being covered. His lectures are anything but boring and he makes it fun. You will need to work for your grade, but its college. Go to class, take GOOD notes, study, and youll be great! Take him!!
Professor Griffiths was one of my favorite professors. You do have to work for your grade, but his lectures are very thorough and his tests reflect exactly what he covers in class, which was really nice
I highly recommend Dr. Griffiths. As someone who does not have the strongest math background, I found his exams incredibly fair and reasonable. You will undoubtedly have to work for your grade, ESPECIALLY if you want an A. This is not a memorization class. It's a tough course but lectures were very entertaining and helpful.
Please save yourself from this class. He doesn't let you know your grade and is rude and condescending. He doesn't want students to pass and doesn't encourage them. He doesn't allow calculators on tests and takes off points for forgetting equal signs on the exams. Will put you down and tell you how stupid you are. No tutor/TA for the class 0/5!
This professor was so rude and condescending. He made the students feel like failures and some students even cried during his lectures. Please avoid.. he does not want to help you succeed. No tutoring available and the TA never showed up. Really a joke.
This man drives me crazy. He is extraordinarily condescending. He took off points on my exam for missing equals signs. I have never had to use equal signs on a test in my entire life. However, his lectures are clear and the quizzes and tests are very fair. He showed a tiny bit more respect for us after the drop deadline. Pretty good professor.
The BEST teacher I've had for math. So interesting, makes you WANT to show up to class. Homework is graded HARD but you can work in groups for it. Quizzes are short but not too bad. Same with exams. Expect a B or C, super hard to get an A, but this class is LIFE CHANGING. Would take it again in a heartbeat.
Overall, I think Dr. Griffiths is a decent professor. You may not think that at first. There is a significant amount of homework to work through and a majority of it is challenging. But the homework does a decent job of preparing you for tests and quizzes. Lectures are interesting and very informative.
Barry Griffiths is an outstanding professor. His lectures are excellent and tests and quizzes are very fair. Other reviews alluding to his condescending tone are correct and I never felt comfortable asking questions outside of class. That being said, I absolutely loved Barry Griffiths and if you put effort into his class you will be fine.
This is my 2nd time having Professor Griffiths, and he is so good! He shows his love for number theory and does his best to explain it. Some of the homework is pretty challenging, and he doesn't answer some of your questions during office hours but just try your best on everything. If you aren't there to receive your quiz/hw/test you get 2 pts off.
Phenomenal Professor. He teaches very well and makes the content very clear. There are quizzes every few weeks, and four mid term exams. The exams can be tricky, but are exactly what is taught in class. There are a lot of homework assignments through WebAssign, which requires an expensive access code. Overall very fun class 10/10 would recommend.
There's many other Calc2 professors at UCF that would give you an A if you understand the subject. Not this one, he only gives you an A if you spend 100+ hours a week memorizing the book and applying everything. Overall good professor. Not ideal for someone looking to get a good grade. Fails half of the class!
He's great at what he does simply put. It's a hard course but he will try his best to help you learn in his own British way.
Dr. Griffiths has got to be my second favorite professor at UCF so far. His class is difficult, the majority of your grade will be determined by the four tests he has, as they are 75% of your grade. However, he is an excellent teacher and makes understanding things very easy. Definitely one of the best professors at UCF.
The **best** mathematics professor at the university, hands down. Doctor Griffiths is an extremely hard grader when it comes to his quizzes, however this pressure creates diamonds. You likely will not receive an A in his classes unless you truly put forth all of your extra effort, but if you engage you'll receive the best education available at UCF
He is the best teacher to have for Calculus. His teaching is very thorough and easy to understand. If you study, you will do well. Class is not mandatory, but if you want to do well you should attend every class.
This professor is one of the best professors that I have had at UCF. Calc 3 is a tough class, but he makes the lessons very understandable, with plenty of examples and explanations to the theorems that are in this class. Attending class isn't mandatory, but if you want to get a good grade, don't miss a single lecture.
Prof Griffiths is one of the best professors at UCF, he will provide any resource or help necessary to allow you to pass. The exams and quizzes are very tough, so as long as you study and prepare for them well by going over his lecture notes, you will pass.
Fantastic professor. tailors teaching to exams & ensures to cover all exam topics. teaches very well, with humor, enthusiasm that you don't find from most professors. Quizzes straightforward, based on homework & examples in class. Attendance not required but VERY beneficial. Txtbk available but I don't have to open it once if you attend class.
amazing professor
Very wonderful, funny, easy to understand, the ideal Calculus teacher.
Cool class, good prof. This isn't boring "math" from high school. This is gigachad Numberphile or Veritasium math. His lectures are funny and clear. Textbook not required but I found it helpful - especially on the later homeworks. He leaves webcourses blank. Miss a lecture? You need a friend's notes. You won't know your course grade at any point.
Buckle up...
Best professor ever taken. Withdrew the semester before him & ended with an A bcz of him. LOTS of homework and extra credit if there consistently to pick up quizzes. Tests standardized. Hard but not his fault. Prepares you WELL from weekly quizzes. Only had to get hw to 85% for 100. Nothing posted online. Purely in class lecture material.
Very great lecturer and knowledgeable. Tests are worth a lot however they aren't bad
Amazing lecturer who clearly conveys the concepts and ways to solve problems. Class is test and quiz heavy but the exams never feel unfair or unexpected to what you learned in class.
Amazing lecturer! He makes the material super straightforward and clear to follow. Homework is hard but not reflective of exams. Notes are very easy to follow and exams had no tricks, just straight application of the material. Only downside is he doesn't use canvas so you will have to calculate your grade yourself but otherwise I highly recommend!
Dr. Griffiths is probably the best prof I've ever had. Genuinely cares about all students and wants them to succeed. GO TO CLASS, his lectures are incredibly helpful and normally somewhat comical. Make sure to do the corresponding HWs to prepare for quizzes, as their due dates normally follow the quiz, but they are a great way to prep. Recommend!!!
Professor Griffiths was my favorite professor ever. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone that received a C+ in the course. The information is difficult for many but Professor Griffiths makes learning very entertaining and the lectures never seemed to be overly complicated. He cares about his students and is fair in the way he grades.
Prob the best prof I will ever have at UCF. AMAZING teacher, fun to learn from, tough but fair grader, honest, and simply wants you to learn. He does NOT use webcourses - only way of getting material is by attending class (rec) or reading the textbook (not rec), announcements via email, and only grades available are the automatic homework grades.
This prof is such a baller. Fantastic lectures, made me interested in diff eq. I was completely failing and managed to rebound to a B- , so this class isn't impossible, but it's difficult
Test Heavy, but the questions types are expected. Grades VERYYYYY harshly and doesn't do negotiations. Quizzes are not too bad. Class was not too hard but the only annoying things were his grading, does NOT use canvas, HW online is terrible, and no curve at all. Imo, his lectures are very good and very useful to the exams.
While I got a C in the class, calc 3 was basically graded off of 4 tests no matter the professor, regardless professor griffiths was one of the best professors I've had at UCF so far, his lectures are very easy to follow but even though attendance isn't mandatory, he does not post anything online.
Barry is hands down the best professor I've ever had. Truly cares for the success of his students, but wont pull punches when it comes to difficulty. His lectures are so good, never a dull moment (hes got some sass to him). He will make fun of you if you say somthin dumb. You will do will in his class but need to put in the work.
Not finished with the course, as a teacher he is a very interesting character. If you attend the lectures he is very straight forward in the way he teaches which has made the content very easy to remember. But, hes very tough on grading. If you forget any of your calculus, study it ASAP because he expects you to know it like you know algebra 1.
very entertaining, thorough, and holistic lectures. He makes sure there's nothing in the content he hasn't covered and writes notes on the board rather than presents a slideshow. Does not post grades on canvas. would definitely take him again.
The final was very challenging. The professor is great, but I strongly recommend not waiting until the last second to turn your grade around. Start off strong and keep it that way throughout the semester don't start poorly and hope to recover at the end. The course demands effort from the beginning.easy to fail.
He is a good teacher and really good at explaining concepts. However, the class structure is 80% tests with no curves, no tests dropped, and he is a very harsh grader. Tests are all free-response and at most 30 points, with about 3-4 questions per test. Minor errors are justification for half credit in his opinion. I don't really recommend it.
He's the real deal!! Lectures are fantastic, and are an exact mirror of what is given on the exams. Exams are standardized ucf ones. Grading was fair. If you get the wrong final answer for a question but make it obvious you know the topic in your work, he only takes 1pt off (5% of test grade). As long as you take the exams seriously you will pass.
