barry is a nice guy, hes freakin funny and always wears the same blue sweater every lecture. he gots a new york accent that will keep u interested in class. hes cool and cares about his students.

The easiest class I ever had. Very funny guy. The concepts he teaches are sort of like common sense. If you fail his class then you are pretty screwed up.

Mr. Kenyon is funny prof...he really makes you understand the passages and shows that he cares, really wants you to pass his class! Every point he makes relates back to common sense!!

he's alive! estatic! outspoken! he's great! The class is full of homework and lots more! but his class is the best. He knows what he is doing and he is able to reach out to students, he even extends his office hours so that he can help students with their essays and stuff...go to his office hours!

Two words for him... THE BEST. He gives a lot of homework but he goes over all of it in class and makes you understand it. He makes sure you get good grades on your essays with extra help and comments. One of the best and if you try you will get your A.

He makes the class fun. He does give a lot of work but you can tell that he really cares. His goal is to make sure you get the best grade you can. he has a lot of office hours and he will expand them if you need him to. so be prepared to work hard but he will make you laugh and have fun.

Really Good Teacher! Very helpful in making sure you understand the material read. Alot of reading, but it is ALWAYS relevant to the essays. Never read anything that did not relate to our writing prompt. Great Teacher!

With this professor definitely GO TO OFFICE HRS. He tells you exactly what to write almost. He's really very helpful in office hrs. He seems kind of intimidating at first, but he's actually a really good teacher that seems to care that you do well in class.

Awesome professor! One of my favorite professors so far. Very outgoing and goofy at times, but passionate about his teachings. I highly recommend going to office hours because they are VERY HELPFUL. He does give alots of homework but it's easy so just do it. No final for this class, what more could you ask for? KENYON ROCKS!

Great Professor! Very helpful. Go to his office hours. He provides great help for your essays. There is much reading, but all the material can be used for the essays. Definitely recommend taking his courses.

Awesome!! I have never learned this much from an Enlgish class. A lot of HW, but its worth it cause he always keeps you awake and laughing.

He is very reasonable. His essays are easy, mostly based on your own life. He is a bit wacky, very funny, in a non-conventional sory of way. We always use the text. Be prepared to be called on a lot, though. For some reason, I was one of his main targets. It's a stessing situation but I got over it, and it helped.

He gives a lot of homework, and he does not really go over the essay... Attendance is mandatory and if you don't turn a paper in you fail the class.

He's very funny and random at times. Though his class can get extremely boring from the homework groups you have to form everyday, I'd take him over a lot of other English teachers. The essays are fairly difficult but he's always willing to help, he'll even give extra office hours! Overall, the class is worth taking.

Extremely hard teacher. Hands out busy work like no other, and has a weird high pitched sort of sound. He also likes to stomp his right foot on the ground a lot when trying to make a point. Other than that, it was educational.

Professor Kenyon is an awesome teacher. What he teaches is really interesting and he makes learning fun. He opens your eyes to things you never think about in a good way. I took Kenyon's ENGL 1B class in the Winter 08. I loved the class and he has been my favorite english professor thus far. I rarely found lectures boring because he kept students engaged. He's a NY dude and he's pretty funny aswell. There are four essays, but for three you choose your own topic. Go to his office hours, it definately helps.

This guy gives a lot of work, but it can prove to be beneficial. He comes off as a jerk most of the time, as he picks on or even makes fun of his students. He does, however, devote much of his time to office hours and helping his students.

Easy class but be prepared because there will be a lot of homework that all together is worth an essay grade. In the end all the work pays off and overall a great teacher one of the best english teachers I have had so far. ps. make sure you go to his office hours for every essay.

Keeps you entertained and awake! Never felt sleepy in his class, and that's hard to accomplish! Downside is he gives a lot of busy work and you HAVE to do it. But he doesn't grade too hard and you really learn a lot. And he gives you candy to bribe you for good ratings. Interesting guy.

he comes off intimidating, just from the email he sent before the quater even started I was already scared. BUT WAIT! don't drop the class or switch sections, hang in there and I promise that you won't regret it. If you came to college to actually learn and get your money worth (especially with the rising tuition), you'll like his class.

I learned a lot being in his class. I personally think he is a great professor. He pushes you out of your comfort zone but it's for your own good. He was super helpful during his instruction and office hours. He really cares about his students and wants you to pass. I recommend him.

He's extremly helpfull , he only wants his students to pass so he does assign a lot of homework but its not for nothing, it's for the essays you will be writing. If your struggling to pass English 04 definitely try to get him as your professor you will not regret it .

He's a funny guy that pokes are rude humor. His class was fun because of his humor but his assignments were fair which really helped with the essayspapers in the end. He is very very rude, maybe some can find his jokes funny but it is very rude. He has a tendency to yell often, stating that it is a new yorkan thing. Make a mistake and all hell breaks lose. In the most part if you're in the 4 class he is basically calling you stupid, but he does help you out of your stupidity. He always says his yelling is an act

I really enjoyed this class. He can be a tough grader, but he really wants his students to pass and helps them out. Office hours are always helpful. He really likes it when students think outside the box and ask and wonder, "Why?" He jokes around a lot and can be rather rude. If you answer his questions and participate in class, he will like you.

To those of you who really want to learn and GROW as a person, Dr. Kenyon is the man for you. Yeah, he could be weird and really strange, but he has a heart for student and really pushes you to become critical thinkers. Really take his class with an open mind and I promise you, you'll come out a better person. Just make you put effort and heart.

Chill guy. Some of the stuff he says, I wouldn't recommend, but you have to get over his extreme jokes. He doesn't mean anything. What I like the most about him is the fact that he really turns you into a critical thinker.

Good professor

Saves his students cash by giving you PDF files to the textbooks. Definitely cares about his student's success. But don't expect to get an easy A in this class either. The essays are based on your ability to follow the writing criteria from UC, so don't go around thinking you can go ahead and express your ideas freely. This isn't creative writing.

If you are a first gen, or a minority the odds are in your favor if you decide to take his class. DO NOT MISS HIS CLASS without a very legit reason because it tends to annoy him if you regularly miss or come in late and he will call you out. Other than that, put effort into your essays (which aren't that hard) and you'll pass with an easy A

If you're on time, do your work, and ask questions/go to office hours when you need it, you'll pass the class. It's not hard, and he can seem rude but I think it's the New Yorker in him.

There is a lot of homework but don't be intimidated, it's nothing that is too difficult. He is very understanding and cares about students. Visit him during office hours, it helps a lot, and whatever you do, DON'T use your phone during class. Other than that Barry was great, I hope to take him again!

He is a great professor. I don't understand how people see him as rude, though I did take his class in an online environment with no zoom lectures. If you took AP Lit in high school, this class basically felt like that. He's very kind and understanding in the times we are in right now. HW can be heavy at times, but not bad.

He is very merciful and understanding. He did not use the zoom during the COVID times and lectured from email which is more flexible than other teachers especially when I was in China. 3 papers, no finals and he grades very fairly. He is a great teacher that cares and loves his student, I don't know why they are people saying that he is rude.
