Don't take Dr. Monk for Cal 3.The class average on the first test was a 42.Within 2 weeks, half the class dropped. He teaches well and is helpful, but his tests are absolutely,absurdly hard.All of his questions have twists.U will study 8-10 hr. for exams.

I think that Dr. Monk teaches well. His tests are hard but what helped me in his class was going to his website and practicing on the previous semester's tests he posts on there.

i have difficulty with math, but i passed Dr. Monk's class with an A. he explains concepts well & offers many chances to get a good grade. warning: ALL of his tests are cumulative. he also offers a "practice" final exam.

Dr. Monk has put a brand new light on Math for me. I honestly believe he could teach an average 5 year old math and they would understand him. He is very thorough with his teachings. He is not easy, but if you have a brain...you can learn from him!

He keeps us interested by talking about lots of different things. In the first class meeting, we talked about the american war for independence, astronomy, astrology, how many molecules are in a can of beer, and how you could spend a trillion dollars in one day. Keep it up Monk!

Very recommended teacher. I have never understood math like I did with Dr. Monk. Test are very hard, but grading is fair. Do you homework and ASK questions and you will do great in his class.

I am not a math person...but with Dr. Monk and his teaching strageties pulled me through. I like the fact that he gives something extra to the class. If you are having prblms see him during office hrs. You can't get it all in a classroom sometimes, you have to use other resources that are available. I think he by far the BEST. I took Stats during spring of '06 (online) and got out of that class with an A. The exams are not hard, just alot of material covered. Do the practice quizes and hw probs. more than once and you'll do fine. Practice makes perfect! And to those who talked about his sexuality, you shouldn't be butting into his business!

Dr. Monk loves math. He is very clear and always explains more than one way to solve problems. If you have questions he is more than willing to help. I also love his website, very helpful.

I studied and studied and did all the homework and still got D's on the tests. My advice is if you cant get A's and B's on the 1st 3 tests Drop ASAP. Dont be talked into staying in his class. Its your grade and if you arent sure, save your GPA and drop!

He's a great teacher so far, spending have the class going over homework questions. The test was pretty easy if you understand what the question is asking. Pretty damn good so far.

He's a great teacher but he has a ****ed up grading system. The system screwed me out of 10 points on my final grade, i should have had an A if the grades were averaged as usual, but as a result i was left with a B. As i said great teacher but ****ed up way totaling all grades to get the final average.

This guy is great. He treats everyone with respect and really goes out of his way to help students. I love his grading system!

Dr. Monk was the BEST teacher I've ever had in my entire educational carrer. I even took a session class and he aught so well it felt like a regular class. he odes require you to do your work and learn. HE TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS ON THE TESTS!!!!!!!!

Dr Monk is one of the best teachers I've had. He is so clear on the subject matter and is genuinely interested in making sure you do well.And yep, He does tell you EXACTLY whats on his tests.

i would not say that he tells exactly what is on th test but he does give some good hints. If you do the homework you will do well.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Explains material in such a clear way you pretty much know it by the end of the day. He is very easy-going, both in personality and in lecture. Very nice and approachable. The entire course is graded on only two exams, but they are both ridiculously easy. Make half an effort to listen and you'll pass.

Cant say that this class was easy but I could not ask for a better teacher. Dr Monk is both smart and funny. He actually listens to your questions and answers them. Our section had four exams and a final. Some questions were easy but some were hard. Take Dr Monk for this course if you can. He is worth it.

Prof. Monk's class was far most the most helpful math class I have ever taken. I am not a math person and I even struggled in Math Modeling so I feared Statistics until I enrolled in his class. He uses powerpoints to break down every step from calculator use to problem solving. I would refer him to every1 for Statistics!!! Very helpful...

I took this course online and had prior knowledge of calculus. The online course is very easy and his tests are exactly like the online quizzes. He gives lots of opportunities for bonuses and will help you if you need it. He is a great professor I wish I could take him for a non-online class!

I was reallyl nervous about taking statistics, but this teacher was great! He clearly answered all questions and the information he gave was very easy to understand. He is a very fair teacher and kept things interesting.

Very easy teacher. I took him this past summer semester online. All of his tests (there are 5) are based off questions from the quizzes. So if you can do the questions on the quizzes then you will make A's on the tests. Some of the questions were exactly the same! His midterm and his final are proctored but the questions are taken from the tests!

Took this online and it was much easier than expected. You can take the online quizzes up to 3 times, which allows you to improve your grade. He encourages online discussion, but is very friendly and helpful if you go to his office. He's great!

Rarely do I take the time to rate any of my professors, but Dr. Monk is worth it. I took him for introductory statistics and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. Hands down the best professor I've had!

OMG. This guy is fantastic. I went into the class scared of statistics, but Dr. Monk really does a great job of explaining it. He's the author of the book - how cool is that. Can't say that the class was easy, but he really made it understandable. I feel that this is one of the most useful courses I've had so far at Macon State.

I have NEVER rated a professor before, but Mr.Monk deserves this. I failed statistics class prior to attending Macon State but I passed statistics at Macon State with 100.2. Mr.Monk goes above and beyond to ensure that the students understand the material. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR :)

Barry Monk is an amazing professor! He is very good at what he teaches. He provides you with guided notes so that you won't have to write so much during his lectures. However, he does not round; if you make a 89.98 on an exam, that is what you will get!

Dr. Monk was committed to the class learning statistics and understanding the material. I took the online class and the textbook (free online) is not needed. His lectures teach you the material and provide tons of examples. He leaves the tests open to re-take as many times as you want which really helps you to get good grades & learn material.

Dr. Monk is AWEOME. He is the nicest and most laid-back professor I have ever taken from. Anytime you have a question, he tries his hardest to help you understand - it is obvious he cares about his students and wants them to do well. His explanations are incredible! When he is done explaining, I always feel dumb because he makes it look so simple.

I've taken Dr. Monk for the Spring of 2017 for Calculus and is by far one of the best professors on the Macon Campus! He is very understanding with every student's learning ability and is willing to help. Personality wise, he is very nice and fun and makes coming to class fun to go to. He will motivate you and will not give you false hope!

Dr. Monk wrote the book on statistics. No, literally. He did. (look at the authors) That being said, if I'd gone to him sooner, I'd likely have done better in his class. He gives test reviews, is patient, cares about his students and friendly! You'll have a LOT of homework and the tests are tough, but study hard and make use of your resources!

Professor Monk was amazing, and I loved him a ton, but math is just not very easy for me. Taking this into consideration, I almost did not pass the class. Probably more my fault, he is a very great professor and tries to help as best he can. Always accessible and answered my emails quickly! Just make sure you know what you are doing.

Dr. Monk is very knowledgeable and down to earth. He sets a study day before each exam and gives practice exams (do those and keep up with HW!!). Very patient and explains the answers to your questions in depth (I had so many). He listens to the classs opinions and gave extra points when he messed up the exam key. Class was lit ;) TAKE HIM!

Professor Monk is absolutely amazing. Hes really great at breaking down problems and uploads the class notes online everyday so if you miss a day you wont fall behind. Your grade is based on the four tests he gives. He gives homework however he doesnt grade it. Theyre more like practice problems and he goes over them if anyone has issues.

Really great professor. Your grade comes from four tests. Homework isnt for a grade but rather practice. Gives out practice tests before exams. Really caring and will help anyone that has a problem.

So good. He made calculus easy and fun. His Calc 1 course consists of 3 tests, and sometimes a bonus optional final. Most of the questions on the test are multiple choice. If you do the homework(which does not count towards your grade) you will make A's on every test. I'm telling you this as a Dance Major. Take heed my dudes.

He's a great teacher! I've taken 2 of his courses (which were stats and intro to math modeling) super easy tests if you work on his study guide(which is very easy). He's very clear when it comes to his lectures and he's always willing to help out students after class. I would definitely stick with him when it comes to math courses!

This professor is amazing. I took her for statistics and he helped to understand anything and gave us plenty of time to get the homework done. He would try to help any student in any way posible and was always very understanding. He let us use notes on quizzes and make a cheat sheet for tests. I would higly recommend taking him for anything!

I took Calc 1 as a minimester online. Dr. Monk is very responsive to questions/discussion posts. You do have to pace yourself with this material so you don't get behind, but Dr. Monk has a calendar to follow. For each lesson, he provided supplemental material for different learning styles. We had two extra credit opportunities. Would recommend.

Dr Monk is realy good at teaching. He makes the hard stuff easy to get and his lectures are never boring. He's also super nice and always there to help us when we're stuck. Totally one of the best teachers I've had!

Dr. Monk is the best stats professor, especially for online. He posts a video once a week and requires a quiz that can be taken as many times as needed. He also requires a few projects throughout the semester. The program he uses is R. I took him for biological stats and data visualization, and both classes were so fun and easy. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!
