he is the best. the class is not boring because he has a great sense of humor
the best speech prof
awsome guy funny someone youd go out drinking with great prof
Laugh out loud, pee in your pants fantastic
interesting character
He is an amazing thinker. You'll learn a lot...in a speech class.
He's a great professor but his assignments are hard.
Brilliant, you will laugh until it hurts. work your whole schedule around this o
Very intelligent, and funny!

I love this man!
Very funny guy! A little confusing but a good professor!
Funny guy. take him
He's a lot of fun, but his assignments are a pain. he makes you think though.
very funny prof, but alot of work too
Great mind, great professor, great sense of humor!
Greatest comm professor to ever live.
Great guy super funny, but don't let it fool you.B sure 2 take notes tests R hard

Really funny guy, who said he was hot though? (he's not). Makes a normally boring class pretty cool, decent grader.
tough grader...dont let the jokes and funny stoies fool you...very difficult grader!
ummm... the chili pepper thing... funnie... yea, he's awesome as a speech prof, the best in the school. Yea he's tough but that's life, i've learned lots from his own speeches and he is one of the most hilarious things you'll ever see or hear.. take him.
great and funny, however take notes & attend class tests are based on notes/attendance!!! Makes you think.
Take notes! Definatly take notes. He is a really funny guy, makes class very interesting. If you have the chance to take his class I highly recommend you do.
really amusing guy makes class very interesting, yea take notes 4 sure. But overall he is a coool prof i reccomend u take him
His class was very very worthwhile. He sees between the lines and his jokes really have relevance! He makes class so interesting. It's hard not to pay attention to him. He's not really a hard grader. It just seems that way until you get your final grade.
Intelligent. Intimidating. average grade a B. Take notes otherwise you're doomed.
Knowing him he probably gave himself the chilli Pepper! He knows his stuff and that is a fact...But he is so boring and his jokes are so CORNY! Not a very fair grader either.
I just have to add this before saying anything else, this course was an online course, now Morris attempts to be funny and fails and really doesn't attempt to help students when they need assistance
Of course he's intelligent and knows what he's talking ab...intimidating! His stories/jks getting old. But he is very understanding and if you listen you may learn a thing or two. Take him...you'll get over the stories/jks.
Granted this is an online course but I find this man to be one of the most absurd and prejudice (NY vs P-Ville campuses) I have come into contact with. He doesn't help you and his jokes make me wanna become blind (remember online class)
I've taken this professor several times, he is smart, funny, and you learn a lot. He knows EVERYTHING, and proves it in class. His style of teaching makes you interested! Take him, he is the best ever.
Who cares if some of the jokes are a little old sometimes? He is the best teacher I've had at Pace over the course of 4 years. He actually wants you to learn about and understand communication. Not only is he hilarious, but helpful and understandin
HE is funny, guaranty that youre not gonna be bored in the class. No paper, no nothing reading yes Carefull though, the exams are not easy I like him alot.
nice guy, funny guy, tests are a ****.
Nice guy, really straightforward, but PAY ATTENTION and READ your chapters.
He's a great guy, energetic, fun with a good sense of humor. Tests are a little hard, threw everyone off. you must read the chapters thoroughly and pay attention to detail in the lectures.
Funny guy, not so funny tests! WARNING: TESTS WILL KILL YOU! to be on the safe side, take someone else!
I TOOK HIM FOR A LOT OF MY COMM C LASSES. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HE SMOKES OR WAT PLANET HES ON BUT HES A FUNNY PROF. HIS TESTS ARE HARD BUT IF UR LUCKY HE SOMETIMES GIVES FINALS&MIDTERMS ONLINE!!!!!
Amazingly cool. Very funny. Makes the class interesting. BUT, tests beyond hard. Even with following the notes, make sure you know his opinions and outlooks on things. Some items tested are not IN the notes. Make sure you attend class, and PAY ATTENTION!
who doesn't like BArry Morris.. he's the coolest professor on earth.. love you Morris..
this guy is awesome i would recomend him to everyone attendence not nessacary as long as u show up 4 class but test are hard notes a must overall great guy
good guy
Be prepared cause JUST when you think you are having fun, daddy whips out his leather belt and SPANKS the hell outta you with his disgustingly hard examinations!
Prof. Morris was without a doubt, my favorite professor. I used to do a radio show at WPUB, and I would frequently have him on my show. I think my best shows were when he was on. I also think I learned more from him than any other professor, because he
Dr Morris is one awsome professor. He's extremely flexible and willing to help his students!
he's extremely helpfull and always willing to help his students no matter how long ago he was your professor. He always remembered me! Thank you so much for all you help doc! his classes are always the most interesting!
Amazing professor. He makes you fall in love with the subject, and the class is very enjoyable. Loved it. Would recommend it to anyone.
One of the best professors at Pace. Great sense of humor, laid back, extremely knowledgable. Doesn't care about attendance, being on time, or leaving early. Hell, your cell phone rings and he'll joke about it. But don't think you can't take him seriously. Miss a class, you miss a lot of info, and his tests are hard. Very flexible. Overall fantastic
Great professor. He makes the three hour evening class fly by. He keeps your attention with his dry humor, but you also learn a lot. He makes you become interested in the material. His exams are not too bad as long as you attend the classes, and they are ususally online. Overall, great professor, great class.
very funny guy. classes are fast paced and easy to follow. just remember to take notes, should be okay.
Very funny, easy going! Great! BUt I do hate his tests.
He is very easy going, very into what he is discussing. Also take good notes because everything from notes are on his tests. He is sort of like David Letterman
Morris is a funny guy. all around nice guy. Class wise, You better go to all classes and write down everything he says , even his off the wall jokes/comments, cause they r liable to be on the test.
He's very very funny and I loved his class. As long as you actually GO to class and pay attention, read the chapters in the book, and take notes, you'll do fine on his tests. A lot of people say the tests are hard but if you just pay attention it's fine. He's a video game nerd to the extreme.
I have taken all classes offered by Morris and as a senior I suggest to take notes and go to class. Don't rely just on his power pts. He is funny...class passes fast!
Lectures are very interesting and intellectual. Don't miss class and listen for detail. Exams are tough but he gives bonus points if no one gets a question right. He's a generous grader. Don't forget about the boards!
It's Morris...he's great! We watched Firefly all year...he kept class interesting, fun...he's such a smart guy you can't help but learn. ALWAYS take him if you have the chance.
he is great and fun
He does want his students to succeed at Pace, that much is obvious. He's interesting to listen to; he adds anecdotes and can relate them to class. The only hw was to go to three campus events and write a paragraph about them and a 'how to use microfilm' assignment that was helpful and interesting. Very funny guy. Great first class.
Morris is highly confusing, rambles on unimportant topics, does not give clear information, expects you do take his opinions as clear word and correct, there is no text book or homework and you are tested on his viewpoints. Classes drag by, and you almost have to write down all of his words and know his feelings by heart to do well in his class.
Morris is a funny teacher but you better pay attention to every word he freakin' says because he'll randomly throw out a definition without even saying that that was a definition.
Basically doesnt take attendance but if you dont go your screwed because his texts are RIDICULOUS
Morris is so hilarious. His tests are confusing but he grades on a 4.0 scale so you really cant do bad. (40 questions, how many you get right move decimal to the left once=grade) I like him alot, there arent many professors at pace that make you laugh the whole class. Hes awesome, I'd recommend taking him, espec since attendance isnt mandatory
I take both 111 and 114 from him. Annoyingly cynical man who looks like a hobo but is actually COM chair! Don't ever raise your hand, because he will embarrass you in front of everyone. Grades on a 4.0 scale, so it's virtually impossible to fail but also very difficult to get above a B. If you're a comm major, he's required, so suck it up and deal.
I have taken professor Morris a couple of times already, he is a very interesting lecturer, although you might not get his sense of humor at first he is extremely funny. You have to take copious notes however, he puts things on tests you wouldn't expect. If you take him for a night class (3 hour class) don't skip out at the break. A great teacher.
Class is VERY interesting. MUST pay attention and you HAVE to be a good note taker because he doesn't put notes on the board. His exams are mostly based on notes but some of the main points you must read in text.
Morris has a sarcastic sense of humor with references to pop culture, which in itself is another form of education. Textbook is a must, as is note-taking. Attendance not mandatory but advised if you want to do well. He does enjoy torturing and embarrassing his students by asking them for their opinion and shutting them down.
YOU NEED TO GO TO THE CLASS TO PASS OR ELSE YOU'RE SCREWED! Nice guy, powerpoints are comical, likes to pick on his students. He keeps you entertained, and reminds me of a southern-fried-intelligent Mr.Rogers with a beer belly. Very cool.
He's great. Incredibly helpful and class is a breeze. Just gotta show up and read every once in a while. He's also the COM chair and very easily approachable and flexible for any and all of your bureaucratic COM needs.
If you don't understand the words that are coming out of his mouth...well too bad for you my friend, because he does not have a textbook in this class. I find this ridiculous because if you need another reference you will be at a loss because his 4 tests all come from his lectures and lame jokes. Good luck
I LOVED this class, Morris is amazing, My semester (fall 09) pretty much sucked, his class was honestly the best, his jokes made me laugh and it was always interesting!!!!Hes helpful, tests arent THAT hard as long as you visit class and pay attention to EVERYTHING he says!!! I cant wait to have him in some other class
Very difficult to contact. Not much help.
I had Barry Morris for 111 and 114. He's funny, but theres a point where you have to stop making jokes and start teaching. His tests are ridiculous. Basically he tests you on whether or not you showed up and payed attention to the slides than what you're gunna need for a career in COM. Can't say I learned much from him.
The tests are very difficult. READ THE BOOK! I don't recall learning much from his class, half of the lecture topics didn't seem necessary. He posts his lecture powerpoints online so don't waste your time writing what's on the board, write what he says!
he is the single most amazing person i've ever met. any person who has him as a teacher is incredibly lucky to benefit from his knowledge and experience. He knows the material better than anyone. he is adorable and absolutely hilarious. also, he has a really hot daughter.
He is very funny and makes class interesting. Refers to pop culture a lot, so the class is relatable. Has a lot of useful information to tell students. You must take notes on what he says, not just what is on the powerpoints. Definitely take his classes.
Morris is an awesome professor. He makes hilarious pop culture references that make the class understandable. No textbook, so it's all based on powerpoints and what he says. Attendance is the difference between an A and a B/B- basically.
Go to Class. His tests are mainly what he talked about in class. Some questions are from the textbook so make sure you read too. Overall an OKAY class. He jokes around a lot which makes this class more enjoyable. There is no HW except to read. Grade is based only on the tests.
I had him for COM 111 and 114 this semester and both classes are relatively easy...Do the reading its extremely important because half of the test questions are from what he specifically SAYS in lecture and half are from the book! Don't make the mistake of not going to class!!!
I had Prof. Morris for 2 courses in my freshman year: COM 114/COM 245. His classes are structured similarly: Lecture courses; Attendance isn't mandatory but class notes are necessary for exams; Final grade is solely based on 3 or 4 exams, study study study! Morris is funny, great sense of humor, entertaining. He uses technology, YouTube vids, etc.
I'm a communications major and Morris is excellent. Hilarious, personable, wants to help. textbook is great. just really focus hard on the details; his exams are very detail oriented. attendance is not mandatory or recorded, but go to class because questions on the exam deal with things he mentions, aside from what's in the textbook.
Very funny! His lectures are super important - don't miss class! Textbook is also very important; tests are an even mix of textbook readings and his lectures. He is up on technology. He engages everyone, even with a class of 100+ students.
He is a great professor, really intelligent, but his grading system sucks. His tests aren't hard if you study but it's almost impossible to get an A in his class. I got an A- on every test but b/c of the way he grades, I came out with a B+ so if you're worried about your GPA, try another professor.
Morris is very funny. The first few classes the entire class couldn't stop laughing, but his jokes got old over the 3 hours class period and especially when we had to take our first test. BUY THE BOOK! His lectures are important, but if you don't read the book (on your own will) you WILL NOT pass hist test. Good luck
I've had Barry Morris a couple of times at Pace. I HIGHLY recommend him. Truly a nice guy, knows what he is talking about, all of the courses were easy. BUT YOU MUST GO TO CLASS and takes notes!
He is so funny and very relatable. He always draws a students attention to the subject matter, even in a lecture hall. His lectures are very important and always on the test - things he says in lectures that aren't on the uploaded Powerpoints. Grading is tough, but if you study you'll get a high B or A.
He's so funny!!
I did well in this class, so my review is solely based on teaching. His lectures are 2-3 hours, yet he doesn't specify what material will be on the exam, I think this is where people fall behind. While he trys to be humorous he gives a general scope of content, rather than focusing on the vital material needed to succeed in class.
He is a funny guy, I did enjoy all of his classes, not easy to get an A, but easy B+. He can be a little confusing, sometimes goes off the topic, but I like him.
He's a very nice guy but he is very confusing. He goes off topic A LOT. In order to get a B or higher, you need to go to class and pay attention. He NEVER specifies what is on the tests aka why I failed all of them. The text is useful when studying even though he doesn't use it once in class. Also, the notes on his slides are never on the tests.
He is a really nice and understanding professor. He is funny and tries to keep the class engaged as much as possible. However, TAKE NOTES. What he says and does will appear on exams. That with serious TEXTBOOK review will get you an A. Attendance is not required either, but you need to keep up with the notes. Test 2 is the hardest of the 3.
Funny guy he keeps everyone awake in class. Just copy the notes and do the reading and you should be fine! I recommend you take this professor!
Kinda funny professor. Kinda evil. I like him. He's a cool dude. A sure way to do well is to take notes in class and read the text book chapters ahead of time not just right before an exam.
Barry Morris is quite the character. Lectures are semi-entertaining, relates to students. Tests are hard if you don't read the book or pay attention in the lectures. Attendance isn't really mandatory. He is goofy, funny, and easy going. I would definitely recommend his classes though. Tough tests, ok lectures, good guy.
Prof is very funny, relating to our generation because he is educated on media. Half the test is on his lectures, half is from the text book. tests multiple choice, but you won't pass if you haven't read the book at all. gives you specific chapters to study. just pay attention, take some notes, and laugh along at his lectures. truly a great prof.
He's really knowledgeable about what he teaches, he's a great orator, and only gives 3 multiple choice tests. However, be mindful that his tests are 50% from the text and 50% from his lecture (both what's on the powerpoint and what isn't). Come to class (pay attention), read the chapters, and you'll do fine.
Oh Barry. Great guy with sense of humor! Really bad as a professor. He is extremely knowledgeable & knows his stuff. However, his teaching skills are down the drain. He has great intentions, and tries to add in humor, and current slang, but it's just not enough to keep us all awake. Very monotone as well. Like him as a person, not as a professor.
Lectures can get pretty boring, I find myself zoning out sometimes, but he's pretty good at keeping them interesting and making them seem relevant to our personal lives. If you take notes, come to class and pay attention, and actually read the book (mainly just studying the vocab and the main points of each section) the tests aren't too bad
As a freshman I loved this class. Barry tries to be funny and relate to the students so it's hard not to pay attention because you laugh. (fyi it actually is funny). Tests are half powerpoint half textbook so read along as you finish chapters. 3 tests. no homework. can pass without going but he elaborates on definitions so you should probably go.
Amazing professor. Absolutely hilarious. I wish I could take his class next semester but the class hours are too late. 10/10 would recommend.
Professor Morris is the best professor at Pace University (maybe even in the universe). He is hilarious, his jokes make it easier to remember what he says in class. The tests are fair and he doesn't require much. Just show up, read the textbook, take the tests, BOOM easy A. 11/10 would take again.
Super funny and relates things to the real world which makes everything easier to understand. Textbook is 100% mandatory to get good grades on his exams, which are always multiple choice/true and false. Not hard at all. Lectures are interesting and sometimes he'll test you on little snippets of them. Please take Barry, you won't regret it!!
Great Professor! His personality and sense of humor made the lecture based class bearable. He knows so much about the subject and really breaks things down to make them easier to understand. Class grade is based mostly on exams, pay attention to the lectures/PowerPoints and do the assigned reading and you will be fine.
He's a smart professor to choose to take if you want a relatively easy pass. no homework just exams. hes a great guy and is funny. i recommend taking his classes.
I had him with 3 hour long lectures, which was WAY too long. He goes off on a lot of tangents which seem irrelevant to the course, but then show up on the exams, so if you don't write down all of the random things he says, you might just be screwed for the test. I recommend recording lectures & going to class. Read the vocab in the textbook.
If i could take him every semester I would. Absolutely love his class and the way he teaches. I took him for COM 111 and COM 114 three tests super easy if you study the vocab from the textbook and the notes. Best teacher.
This is the one class that I truly hated. There were 4 tests overall and half the stuff on the test were things he said in class while talking and didn't relate to any of the notes. It's very lecture heavy and I just sit there the whole time on my laptop doing other stuff. Never taking him gain.
In Com 114 your grade is based solely in the three tests. 60% lecture notes and 40% vocab from the textbook. He posts all lecture power points online but you must take some additional notes. Some 'tangents' will be on test. Easy enough to get a decent grade. Pay attention and know the information. Quizlet helps! Lectures are interesting.
I like Prof. Morris' grading system, which is somewhat skewed but helps in the long run. Tests are somewhat vague yet specific at the same time. MUST ATTEND lectures to know stuff on the test - it isn't a "I'll read the textbook and be fine on the test" class, many "we discussed ____ in class, what was it?" questions on tests. Nice professor.
Professor Morris takes a lot of time out of the lecture to talk about irrelevant topics. He is not organized and never knows what is going to be on the exam. The exams are not too difficult but there are only three so it is not easy to get an A.
i have been taking his class for 2 semesters and i love the way he teaches us. He is really funny and always help students to understand the lecture easily. however, the lecture is quite heavy, so you should be in the class for your exam. oh and there are 3 exams.
Never take his class again! His grading system is sucks, three exams that all. If you fail one, you get a bad grade on his class. You fail two, you fail the this course. He always talks about things that's not relate to class. Three hours lecture for this professor, boring, and waste time.
Pro Barry don't give us any homework and only have three test: two quiz and one final. No review sheet only PowerPoint can study.
He was disorganized, unclear and went on tangents. He never stuck to his word, and messed up important dates on the syllabus. I wouldnt take his class again and wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
I'd like to start off by saying that Professor Morris is a great guy. He makes his lectures interesting and he's hilarious. That being said, he was a little unorganized at times. But overall, he's a good professor. He doesn't give assignments- the final grade is based on 3 exams only. He doesn't count attendance, but show up if you want to pass.
The teaching style is very lecture-heavy with powerpoints as visual aids. You'll need to attend the lectures to be able to get decent grades on the tests. He says a lot that he puts on the tests. Your entire grade is three tests and he grades them on a 4.0 scale, not letter grades, which is confusing. Doesn't really care about being offensive
I have taken many classes with Professor Morris and they have all been amazing. First of all, he's a great professor- laid back, very understanding, but still challenges you. Yes, his courses are lecture heavy, but he usually makes it fun. I honestly don't know how you could fail one of his classes-take him, easy A. You won't regret it.
pretty lecture heavy BUT to think anyone could fail any of his classes is beyond me. how? 3 exams and a couple hw assignments here and there. If you take notes during his lectures there's no way you won't get an A. his tests are exactly like the notes. Loved his courses!
Grades you based on 3 exams (first 2 are 30% and final is 40%). He had no idea how to work Classes or Zoom and it was a HOT MESS. Never emailed me any of my grades like other students and when I reached out, got no response. Grades on a weird 4.0 scale with no info on how that equates to the letter system. The class isn't hard but he is not it.
