bubba is the man ... really fun class, good subject

Intro or World Geo with this guy has to be one of the easiest humanities credits you could take. His notes are extremely thourough and his tests contain absolutely no suprises or tricky questions. Everyone should take this guy! Bubba rocks!

Great teacher. Extremely funny and extremely easy. Gives up to 10 bonus marks for every test....so you basically have an automatic A or B. The best teacher I've ever had. You have to take him!

If you take him for an honors class, be prepared to READ. I've never had to read this many books for a single class, but in his defense it was a terrific class. He made it fun & I learned a great deal. I would definately take him again and I miss this class from last term : ) Great Professor!!!

Uncle Bubba is the best! He talks a lot so it's better if you print out the notes from his website and follow along in class (believe me it's a lot of info and you won't be able to write everything down). Just pay attention in class, read the notes, and you should be fine even withou a book. Really fun class and you learn a lot! Extra credit, too.

Uncle Bubba is the best professor EVER!!! his 50-minute class are never enough, you always come out wanting more. He is very funny and very very easy to follow and understand. Take him and you'll be a lucky dumplin. :)

This class it the highlight of my day. Uncle Bubba is fun to play around with. He calls us his frisky dumplins. Oh, and you've gotta play stump the hick...that's always amusing. I'd take any class if Dr. Mowell was teaching it. Maybe even Calculus!! I'm also a proud member of the Uncle Bubba Fan Club.

This class was interesting at times, but often way over my head due to his fast paced speech. He is EXTREMELY intelligent, but is not arrogant about it. He is always there for help. As long as you know all of the study guide answers by heart (as well as the maps) you'll be fine. He only tests on major concepts. I would recommend Mr. Mowell.

He is the most southern guy in davie. he has a stong accent but it is hot. he is always willing to help but you do need to study for his test. the class is fun. if i were you i would take it

He is a very good professor. And he is very funny. Is the best proffesor that I ever had. His exams are a little bit hard. But he is very clear and explain very good. I know you are not going to be bored in this class.

The class felt more like a history class than a Geo class. I always thought Geo was interesting, but the way this guy teaches it is, in simple terms, useless (waste of my money). Most people take his class because he's either "good looking" (NOT!!!) or easy "A". He is a complete digrace to the subject.

I cant believe anybody would trash Uncle Bubba. He is the nicest guy, always helpful, smiling and joking around--everybody in my class liked him. If you think his tests are hard you must be brain dead, or super lazy--the man gives you a study guide & his lecture notes & the exams had no surprises. The comment, "Boring and not helpful and have a very STRONG SOUTHERN accent. I disliked him terrible and his tests are very hard. Don't take him," is coming from an unreliable source. Yes, Dr. Mowell does have a southern accent, but it is not difficult to understand his teaching. Don't let the above comment discourage you from Mowell's class.

What can I say about uncle Bubba?...He is the best teacher I ever had! he i fun, his class is very interesting and gives tons of extra credit. He also cares about his students and is very funny too. I would love to have another class with him.

Do not worry about those previous comments. Bubba is great. He is extremely smart, knowledgable of his field, plus he's funny. You'll learn alot and have fun doing it. Saying his tests are easy is not necessarily accurate. But his lectures are so fun to listen to, that you would know almost everything you need to know by the time test day.

Very god professor. Alot of reading for the IDH seminar class, but the tests are generally very easy and logical. Very generous with grading curve(open to debate) and with extra credit(watch movies/buy candy). As long as you show a bare minimum of interest and sporadically attend class he will want you to succeed.

Great class! It was called "open college" so we only had about 5 classes for exams. He would answer questions before the test, but you have to have read all the assigned chapters and practice the computerized map quizzes on your own time. If not, you would be sunk. If you do all the required work, you will pass this class. I passed with an A.

Barry Mowell has to be the best professor at BCC. I have never once seen him in a bad mood. He gives tons of extra credit, answers questions before each exam, and tries to make the class as interesting as possible. Even if you're not to interested in geography, you'll love his class.

He is just really nice and funny! His tests are made so that if you did the reading you should pass. He makes even the dullest of topics (scandinavia and the baltic states?? Ugh! lol) interesting, and he is extremely knowledgeable. Just a couple of warnings: His IDH course is alot of reading, so be prepared!

He didn't like me at first because it was a summer class and I missed a few days. But after I started participating in class and getting A's on his tests it was all good. Great teacher, lots of fun and very helpful, and always willing to talk in his office.

He told us to do community hours n' dat he'll put it on the transcrpts but he didn't..I have been waiting 2 semesters now..Test are difficult and the Take home exam has 5 pages and u goota do it w/the smallest letters u colud in order to get the full points.He sometimes loose the grades of the students and then tell u is your problem. He is AVERAGE

Me and a teammate took his class together. No homework, curved exams, no surprises on fairly easy exams, tons of extra credit options, he's a nice guy. I made an A & have sent several friends to him since. If you think his class is hard you must be pretty dense---ignore the last 2 reviews. You should take him if you get a chance. Bubba rocks!!

On the educational side he knows his stuff..tests are fair and gives alot of extra credit. Learned alot in his class. Personality is amazing. Very funny..you could never have a boring class!

Awesome teacher! he even made our class, which was on world communism, interesting. the tests are easy if you READ the material, and the books he picks are good. He's extra helpful- he even got me the job I'm working at now!! I can't wait to take him for another class and be one of his "doodles" again LOL

He's not that easy. but geography isn't an easy subject either. he is a funny guy. but his tests are hard... he does give a review but you have to study alot before taking them.

Geo 2000 covers a lot, overall is a hard subject but he makes the class interesting fun and you learn more than you bargin for. He gives extra credit and is very helpful and you get reviews before test overall can pass this class unless you do nothing at all.

Hes a great teacher. you really have to study for the tests, but he gives a lot of extra credit. very funny and nice. one of my fav so far. his make up test are all essay but in a wierd way easier than the real tests. id take him again if i had to!

Bubba is awesome! He's such a sweet guy and very funny. I took the class where you only went 4 times to take the tests, and studied the book on your own. You actually have to read everything because he doesn't give study guides, but he goes over everything for an hour before the test. Very helpful, I definitely recommend him!

One of the most helpful, friendly professors I've had. On top of that he really knows his subject and relates it to the students well. Even the many athletes who often take his classes seem interested in what he's teaching. He really cares about all of his students and never seems to have a bad day he's so cheerful!

This man is an amazing professor! I just took him for Conservation of Natural Resources and he was super easy. His tests are short and easy if you read the material. No homework, he answers all questions. Pretty easy going guy. Our last class he ended up having to give us all an A because something happened to his computer. MUST TAKE!!!!!

Excellent class, there's a geography part on each test and he gives a fun game to help you memorize everything. His class is easy to follow, explanations are clear, he is super funny. He gives extra credit too (a take home exam). BTW, He brought an Easter basket with candy for every one the last day of class! you'll learn a lot and have so much fun

OMG,AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!!!! Easy to understand, gives examples you can relate to. Flexible and kind. He will go out of his way to explain if you have a question. TAKE HIM, you won't regret it.

I hate science and math I usually only do well if I work really hard but in this class you dont have to just read the chapters pay attention during his reviews and play the map game and you'll actually learn the information without having to study hard or stress over the information. He is funny has a ton of information to offer makes the class fun

Wonderful Professor. Does an excellent job at making the material easy to understand for people that aren't geography majors. I highly recommend him. You do need the book to read further about the material, but he's fair with his tests and won't put material he hasn't covered.

This is one easy professor. He explains the material thoroughly with multiple examples. The test are easy to pass if you pay attention in class and read your book. Plus his test includes map questions and they are so easy to pass. (DB)

Take his lectures!!!...Dr. Mowell has an innate talent for teaching. He is funny and make even the most boring topics to be interesting. He tries to answer your questions to the best of his knowledge. And he is very knowledgeable in his field and some others. He uses no technology and you may have to read a lot but you will learn a lot from him.

He sustained my interest in the class and made it fun to learn geography... turns out GIS is the next big step in science, and Barry was a pinnacle moment in my GIS education. The man will change your outlook.

Ok, so he got my grade wrong and I had to appeal. He got back to me the same day and sent for it to be fixed. Even with that I can still say he is absolutely one of the best. He is a well centered guy who will have you learning and laughing at the same time. Take him and you will learn how the world functions.

Excellent Professor. You will learn taking any of his classes. This was my second class with Professor Mowell. If you want to learn about the world, and the reasons why things are happening, you must take him. You will not be disappointed.

He is a great teacher. I took him for session 2 and was amazed at how simple it was. He give you options on what assignments you want between take home exams and video questions. personally, I found the video questions much easier. you WILL need the book for the test. he likes to pull out questions from there.

I had him early in the morning and he was always so energetic and ready to teach. He's very funny and you can go to him for any questions or concerns. Very easy if you do your work.

Took him once a week on Fridays for the last half of Spring 15. It was an elective for me so I still technically "passed". Tests were a tough cookie to crack with all the maps and no key, still a good guy though.

This is a perfect Flex course, only 4 classes, the rest is homework and tests, you must study to pass the tests, easy A++, great teacher, great lectures, he is interesting and not boring, he is helpful, answers all your questions, I would take him again in a heartbeat.

He isn't out to fail you like some professors are. He reviews the material on test days and he does have a fun personality. Only drawback is that the take home exams are very time consuming. We had 2 take home exams and 3 test.

He is funny, really chill, and actually prepares you well for upcoming test. I personally didn't use a book because I found it online for free, but for his test you will need the book to pass. It wasn't that big of a deal to come to class, but I made sure to come often tho.

One of the BEST! If you dont get an A, then you are just lazy. Cheat notes allowed during exam ( I couldnt believe some kids didnt even make cheat notes). I enjoyed his lectures; he is hilarious. The video take home assignments do require alot of time but you have to put some kind of effort to get that A. TAKE HIM!

Prof. Barry is amazing. He keeps the class lively. The work is not alot. I did this class as session 4 and managed to get everything done because the work is super easy. If you doing this course TAKE HIM! I assure you, you won't regret it!

Don't second guess taking this professor. Alll you have to basically do is 3 assignments, and 3 tests which he allows cheat notes. During lecture, he is actually funny and you do learn in his class. You will not stress in this class at all. Very easy and right to the point.

You really have to try your best to fail his class. He lets you use cheat notes for the test, but if you took notes on his lectures and studied that you don't need the cheat notes, but good to have on test day. Everything on the test goes with what he talks about in class. Only 3 assignments to do at home. 100% recommend! Great professor overall.

By far one of the funniest professors Ive had at BC, I definitely recommend. He lets you bring a note sheet for every exam so take advantage of that.

Professor Mowell jokes about being fat way too much for comfort but passed all the personal stuff he knows a ton about maps, global warming & health related things like the FDA. You will learn some good stuff that everyone should be aware of. Lots of reading for homewrk & take home tests. 1 cheat sheet per test. & he drops ur lowest grade.

Very helpful, nice and funny man. Responds to emails/questions quickly. He is very knowledgeable about international affairs and is an excellent teacher. Everyone in my class loved him. I wish I could take him again.

Great professor, would highly recommend him to anybody needing a Geography class at Central Campus. Allows 1 page front/back cheat notes for tests. Its a twice a week class for 8 weeks, so attendance is mandatory. Like his southern accent (Im from the south too). Also, he doesnt use D2L. 3 in class exams, 2 take home exams + videos. Lowest drop

I love this professor, he is awesome. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you show up to class he speaks about everything that is needed for the tests and quizzes. f you just listen and try, it is an easy A. I would take him again if I have the option.

He's such a nice and funny professor. The class was easy. I took him for session 2 so it was about 6 weeks. It did not feel like I crammed at all. We had 3 tests and 2 take home assignments. He does a review a day prior of the exam. And he's open to any questions. It's an interesting class, I still remember my countries. I definitely recommend him.

I know politics and international relations isn't everyone's thing and the class could be seen as difficult. Honestly, however, Prof. Mowell is epic. He is funny, an easy grader, and attempts to get you involved. He answers your questions with respect and genuinely wants you to succeed. Great man, take him. Not an easy A but you'll get the A.

Professor Mowell is so sweet and dorky. He class was really easy not gonna lie, I felt it was a little too easy. Could have ask more students and not make it just to get through this course and on to the next. But still I really enjoyed his lectures kept class engaged (even though no one was answering any of his questions when he asked them)

Prof Mowell is an insightful and knowledgable professor. His class is designed so students can work at there own pace. This can cause some people to slack off and rush to turn assignments in. In addition, there are not that many assignments so if you mess up it can really hurt you. I would, still, take his class again.

I loved this professor. He is very knowledgeable and his class is interesting. He puts the responsibility of passing his class completely on you which is how it should be. He is very nice and I learned alot from his class. 6 grades in total, easy class.

Professor Mowell is very intellectual. He has a slight southern accent but he's a sweetheart. All tests are open book and every answer is in the textbook online. He gives you a month or so to do your assignments which consists of watching several documentaries about 8-10 questions each, and chapter reviews about 8-10 questions each. Take his class!

Professor Mowell is great! The class consists of 6 assignments (with the lowest grade dropped) and it's an easy A as long as you put in the work. I wont lie the assignments can be tedious (3-4 hours if you rly put in good effort) but the work is easy just a little long. Quizzes/Tests are also easy if you study. Highly recommend this class :).

Loved this professor. So sweet, made cheesy jokes, and answered any and all questions even if he has to repeat himself 4 times. Only 3 quizzes and 2 video question assignments (6 vids from each chapter, 28 total) which took up a lot of my time, but he is an easy grader. Super easy A for me, very understanding and flexible with scheduling quizzes.

Honestly not bad overall just 3-4 quizzes and some assignments where you watch a video and answer questions which was the hardest part. The best bet for the tests is the book mostly and then online also works for some questions. He gives one assignment to fail so use it wisely between the video assignments or a quiz. Overall decent nothing crazy.

Funny guy. He records his lectures so if you dont make it to class or want to rewatch you can always review. Not a lot of assignments, but he he likes answers on them to be veryyy thorough. Teaches from the book but makes it interesting, almost like youre listening to an interactive podcast. Drops your lowest grade at the end on semester. 10/10.

Prof is hilarious but knows his stuff. We had open book exam & assignments with enough time to complete. He does make you work for your grade but if you put in the time, it's not that bad. He hints at certain areas of the lecture so u can write down your notes bcuz most likely it will be on exam. I would deff recomm him and it was an easy A for me

Professor Mowell is a great professor. 3 open-book quizzes, 1 take-home exam, and 2 video-question worksheet. He makes his lectures easy to follow and funny! I highly recommend taking his class, he made me love history again!! The attendance is not mandatory but recommended, the textbook is available for rent, and can be used for exams and quizzes

Prof Mowell was a great teacher. His lectures weren't boring and he would go over every video thoroughly. He graded papers accordingly and fair. I can say I actually enjoyed this class and learned something from it. His teaching style is exciting and gets students involved by asking questions. 10/10 would recommend.

Prof. Mowell is amazing. He tries to keep the class light but give you all the information you need. You learn a lot from the homework and he does not do useless discussions. There are 3 quizzes a test and a set of videos that you have to answer some questions. I was scared to take this class but it was amazing.

Take him he is an easy A. everything is open book only way you would fail is by not doing any work. He is by far one of the best professors at BC!!!!!

Prof. Mowell is absolutely amazing. If you have to take this course you will be doing yourself a favor if you take it with him. The way he teaches history sticks because is not just boring lectures. There are no discussions. All the answers for the questions in the quizzes and the tests are either in the textbook or he talked about it.

Prof. Mowell is awesome. His course work is fairly straight forward. 1 video documentary assignment, three quizzes, one take home exam and an optional sixth assignment to choose between a 2nd take home exam or 2nd documentary assignment. His lectures are engaging and exams open book. You won't regret taking Prof. Mowell.

Dr. Mowell is an awesome professor! I took his 6 week POS2041 on Saturdays, work was not hard at all. Only way to fail is to not do any work at all.. He drops the lowest grade. Textbook is a free download. If you want an easy A while actually learning something, take Dr. Mowell! 10/10

I loved this professor. He is very sweet and funny. I did session 2 in person with him and it was a breeze. Their were 6 graded assignments. 1 was about watching videos and taking notes. 4 were tests/quizzes. The last one was a choice, either a video assignment or a quiz. All of the tests/quizzes were done at home. They were pretty easy. TAKE HIM!

This professor is absolutely AMAZING! Easiest class ever. Bound to get an A, only way to fail is if you do no work. He gives you 6 grades total, 3 quizzes, 1 take home exam, and 2 video assignments. He also drops your lowest grade. TRUST ME, take this professor if you need this class.

no reason why you shouldnt get an A, put in the work since the history is very interesting and you'll pass easily. funny southern older man, he loves making the class laugh. his lectures are always fun and if you're early he gives hints for the quizzes. he respects us and what he teaches if you give the same respect back, will miss taking his class

Dr. Mowell is the best social sciences professor at BC. If you need Government, US History, Geography, or anything else he teaches, run and take his classes. He's extremely knowledgeable, kind, and the work is light.

Professor Barry is a nice professor. Drops the lowest grade out of 6 assignments. He has good humor and passion for the subject. The book is available online, and everything is open book, but finding answers online can be difficult. However, he is a different person when messaging him online, can be a bit rude. Nonetheless, he is a solid professor.

He is so great! He is very funny and is very supportive. His classes are great and understanding.

One of the best professors Ive had in BC so far. Do not waste your time taking other professors that will load you up on work when you can take this class. Professor Barry is funny, and his class is the easiest A you can find. The whole class consists on 6 grades, 3 at home assignments and 3 at home quizzes. And he will drop the lowest grade.

Attendance wasn't mandatory but if you go to class, he gives you hints for the test answer. Lets you turn in work late (but you shouldn't). Pay attention to his lectures, the answer to the tests are there too. He also helps with FCLE prep. Very funny & interesting. He even drops your lowest grade.

You're supposed to have the book but it's not needed. Got to the first classes. If you didn't take or pass the Florida whatever test. I won't be much help. PAY ATTENTION. I did pass it in hs so all I did was the quizzes, tests, assigments. make sure to get that online help wink wink. you'll be solid if you don't gotta take the state test. he's nice

please do yourself the favor of choosing him as your prof! he is very kind and caring of his students as well passionate about history, he made it fun to learn about history which believe me isnt an easy thing to be interested in... not a tough grader and is very clear on what he is looking for.

I loved this professor. Hes funny, caring, and overall a really nice guy. This being said, he is very strict when it comes to tests and assignments so make sure you do them before the due date. Theyre pretty easy but also long and tedious. The class is also pretty lecture heavy which gets kind of boring after a bit but attendance is not mandatory.

What an awesome professor!!!!!!!!!! So good at what he does. Im not a history student but i have to say that i learned a lot with him. He inspires you to read and to listen to lectures online. A lot of reading and a lot of writing but easy work. Definitely taking any other class with him.

He was great, he's understanding and realistic, i really recommend. He was hilarious and it felt like an older relative talking about their past when he explained history.

Professor Barry's POS2041 class is a must-take. He's funny, engaging, and makes the material easy to understand. Attend his lectures, use the free textbook, and try unstuck ai for test prep - you'll breeze through this class with an A.

Professor Mowell is a straight forward and caring teacher. His lectures were funny and he made sure every topic he went over was thorough. Out of the entire semester he only had 3 quizzes and 3 assignments. His assignments were a bit tedious but as a dual enrollment student if i could do it you can too you just can't be lazy. *Textbooks were online

If you're nervous about this course with Professor Mowell this is your sign not to be. This class was far one of the best courses I've taken here at BC. Very detailed lectures and he cares about his students well being and their understanding on material.

He is such a sweetheart and he genuinely loves what he does. He makes funny jokes but he also makes jokes related to the topic we are learning which helps a lot. Few assignments but it takes a long time to do but its fine if you pay attention. He makes class fun. I would recommend him to everyone.

If I could take this class again with this professor, I 100% would. He makes class super enjoyable, only 3 assignments and 3 quizzes. All quizzes were not proctored and he dropped our lowest grade and decided to make one of the assignments optional! He is very approachable and willing to work with you. Absolutely take him if you can!!

Dr.Mowell is an awesome professor. He only gives 6 assignments in total = 3 assignments (long but easy) and 3 quizzes . Quiz timed (2hrs)open book and not proctored . He also drops the lowest grade out of the 6. He does take the full class time, no leaving early but his class is not boring. Attendance optional, lectures not tied to the assignments.

My favorite professor at Broward College. Do the work on time and you'll get a good grade.

A wonderful class with very minimal assignments. The lecture is not tied to the work too much, so I only went to class for maybe 2 weeks. For the entire class, there were only 6 assignments, and he drops your lowest grade meaning you really only have to do 5 assignments. Overall wonderful class got my easy gov credit.

Professor Mowell is the goat. There are 3 assignments and 3 quizzes. The questions on the quizzes are mostly from the textbook, but some rely on the lecture. There is no way you will pass this class with anything less than an A if you just do your work. (also be on time because he provides help with the quizzes)

Professor Mowell is great. He is super funny he calls himself “poo-fessor” as a funny way to mock his students. His assignments are all outlined in the syllabus. I would register for another one of his classes, but sadly they aren't necessary for my requirements. However, if I ever do need an extra social science credit, I am going to look for him.
