He is such an excellent teacher. It is easy to go through this class with him. He helps you a lot. At the end you start to feel confident in public cpeaking. ;)

GREAT! This is one of my favorite classes to take at SMC. Seriouly, I don't like public speaking but Preston is one of the most funniest, lovable, and genuine people- so he makes it all worth while! He is the man for speech-no doubt.

This class was by far the most entertaining and enjoyable class of my semester. Prof. Preston does a great job of taking the intimidation factor out of public speaking. Participate fully in assignments, and show an honest effort to improve, and you will definitely become a much better public speaker after taking Prof. Preston's class.

This is by far the coolest teacher I had at SMC. The professor is easy going, down to earth and super funny. I attended this class late at night in the summer after working 10 hrs straight and time always went by super fast. Is a good time guaranteed. Overall this class was fun. He found ways to make you comfortable (when he didn't yell at the other student's or treat them like idiots). He plays dumb like an air head but he is very intelligent (he was a lawyer). I definitely recommend him and advise you to ask questions if you are unclear, attend class and BE ON TIME. Take his class! It is the easiest A you will most likely earn at SMC. I HATE public speaking but he made this class so fun. You choose your own topics. Just have your speeches ready. He will most likely interrupt your speech tho and he puts you on the spot sometimes but I mean it's a PUBLIC speaking so you gotta get used being put on the spot.

Be on time, practice, and be respectful. He is a great teacher and an awesome person.

He really makes the anxiety that you have toward public speaking go away, I was so nervous about it before this class, and now feel so much better about it! 4 speeches, 1 final, and some practice speeches. Took an online summer class for 6 weeks. He was a very nice, funny, caring person. Reading the other ratings, I wish I have met him in person. Every assignment just builds up for your Final speech. There are 3 quizzes (Super Easy). He makes you read some chapters (personally never read them lol). Easy A if YOU DO WORK 100%. Easy to contact.

Took Professor Preston in the 2020 summer semester and he did a great job letting us know what he expected from us. The textbook is online for free. Three 1-2 minute presentations and about three of four 3-4 minute presentations and two 10 question quizzes and a final (30 questions). Hes a nice and funny professor. He comments on your videos :)

One of the best professors at SMC. He is extremely nice and caring. He encourages and motivates his students in public speaking. A real mood lifter. Don't take his kindness for weakness though because he will put you or the class in their place if he sees a lack of interest or if you start slacking. Overall, amazing professor.

Professor Preston's public speaking class will help your confidence, it's a great class to make friends in, and he's so enthusiastic. Do all the speeches and you'll get an A. Do absolutely nothing in the class and you'll get a C at worst. He really just wants to improve people's self-confidence.

Professor Preston does a great job of teaching the building blocks of public speaking. He also provided a comfortable environment to make speeches in. Even if you don't use notes (extra points!!) you'll still have to draw up and submit an outline. This class is also a pretty good place to meet new friends.
