He is a good professor. The one thing he wants most is Class participation. So, be prepared with notes. His appearance may look like he's been smoking weed, but don't let that scare you.

LOVED this class! Silber is one of the best college professors I have had. Very interesting lectures and class discussions. Come to class, participate, and turn in descent paper and you will get and A. I highly recommend this class!

Awesome professor. Completely cares about every one of his students. Tends to rub some students the wrong way, however, that is not his intention. The brashness is just part of his personality. Personal growth is very much a participant sport. Enjoyed it throughly!

Dont listen to anyone saying take another professor. If anyone gets below a C it is because they want an F. Easy ass class just participate in disscussion I only read the chapter summary and got nothing less than a 83 on the test. Also did the gordon rule in 6 days and recieved a 99 out of 100 easy!

EASIEST CLASS IN THE WHOLE WORLD! you sit in a circle the whole class and discuss things. i would recommend this class to ANYONE! there are no tests or quiz's or anything! i love this class and mr. silber is one of the nicest men in the world.

Man...I wish he was teaching all my classes. Fun, intelligent, and entertaining for sure! Just don't make any mistakes on the term paper. He really doesn't take it to well when you use "there" instead of "their." If you can take him, do it. Just make sure to read the book or he'll make you regret it.

First of all, if you don't have the college skills to write a review well, then maybe his classes are a little too advanced for you. However, Mr. Silber is the best professor that I have ever had. He is interested in his students, their lives and his area of expertise. If you are looking into a subject that intrests you, his classes are the best.

He is a good teacher. He expects a lot of reading, notes, and participation and dismisses the class when no one does the homework. The Gordon Rule paper was horrible and his tests are crazy. He gives a review for every test and when you do you work, you will be alright.

Now don't get me worng sib can get a little angury, probably due to his lack of caffine, but this guy is one of a kind. Don't miss class!!! a 3rd of the test will be derived for his lecture, answer a few questions in class, and read the chapter before class!!! Sib is very strit on his policy of "spoon feeding" and he won't lecture w/o questions.

Barry Silber is not your average teacher at HCC...Because in his class you actually LEARN! Yes... for all you people out there just trying to breeze through college and not get anything out of it... THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR YOU, but for those of you who want to get something for your money... BARRY IS YOUR MAN! I am now a Psych major because of HIM!!

Silber got me interested in psychology at the beginning of this semester. I previously knew nothing in psychology, but now I want to change my major to psychology. He is a loud guy, but just be prepared for class, and you will learn alot of very interesting things.

Great teacher. If you follow the syallbus, very easy A. He has a review before each test as long as you remember to do any pre-assigned assignments. Ask questions with confidence...lol He's really strict about that even if your wrong.

He is a wonderful teacher. He really gets the class involved and won't take **** if people don't want to do their work. If you want a class where you just sit and are lectured too, don't waste Mr. Silber's time. I reccomend him to anyone who really wants to learn Psychology. In fact, I'm taking another of his classes this fall!

Silber is the man! This is an extremely interesting course! You're gonna need the book, but you don't have to read ("peruse") every word of each chapter like he says. Just copy down the summaries of each chapter. Make sure you do every assignment and write down the terms he spits out for exam reviews so you can go home and make a study guide!

Mr. Silber is an awesome Teacher. He is very passionate about his subjects and wants his students to do well. He has all the RIGHT do's and don'ts about his classroom, i.e. don't be late, don't talk in class, don't let your cellphone ring. Outline the next chapter BEFORE class. He is fair and gives A's when they are EARNED !

Mr. Silber is a good teacher. He goes over the material well and is a stickler for attendance. If you have a cell phone, turn it ff or you will be docked points. Be sure to do the homework!(by all means) and study for the tests.Have 3 questions ready every class - you will get reviews for tests. Put effort into your autobiography. You will do fine.

this guy is awesome. his class is so easy if you just attend class and listen. everything he says in his lectures are mainly on the tests. he makes the class interesting. he gives you bonus if you want it and he drops your lowest grade except for the final. you have to study for his test but not that much.

Professor Silber is a really caring and wonderful person...If you stay on his good side. Be a responsible adult and you are guaranteed to earn his respect and a good grade. I've taken him 2 separate times and feel like his teaching style helped me feel impowered and driven to make the most of my life. I would highly suggest taking him!

Barry Silber is a really good teacher. He goes over everything he plans on puttin on the test. He's pretty helpful, and has a good personality which makes the class pleasant. There really arent any surprises with him. Just study and pay attention and you'll be more than ok :}

Prof Silber is a great instructor. His lectures cover everything that will be on the test. Make sure you participate in class. Raise your hand, answer & ask questions and you will get a review that is almost verbatum the test. I got an A on every test so far (2) & I look forward to his class. He applies psych to life and keeps us entertained!!

If you prefer traditional lecture based professors, this is not the class for you. Much of the learning is done in groups. Read the instructions for the Gordon rule paper carefully; he is very serious about docking points for grammar and format.. He is strict when it comes to showing up for class on time, being prepared, and participating.

Very willing to help students, spend extra time with them if needed. Class lectures were very thorough and easily understood.

mr silber was awesome! def an easy A. not that big o attendance...although it may come back and bite u in the a** in the end! if u read you'll pass with flying colors. uses music and videos as well as group activities to enhance your understanding. As long as you take the notes and participate in class you should be fine. He'll also drop your lowest test grade. He often comes in a couple of minutes late and has had a hard time remembering names even after more than a month. Almost every professor at HCC has complaints against him or her, but I would recommend taking his class.

Fun likes teaching and has a great knowledge of PSY.VERY unfair picks his favorites in class.NOTES from the Chapter r a must. He claims to give extra credit for that and class participation.I participated all semester always had my notes minus 2 times and needs 4pts for an A and the still walked away with a B. He is such a great teacher! He's a lot of fun when the class participates. No notes + no participation = Angry Barry. He's straightforward/direct. Listen in class and you'll get an A on all his tests. He's never picked on any1 in my class in a bad way and is fair. My favorite teacher EVER!

Surprisingly, I really like this class and he keeps it interesting. The lowest grade I got on the tests was a B which got dropped so no complaints here! He always asks if we have questions that he could further explain to make sure we're ready.

Great teacher. Mr. Silber requires alot of reading and there are tests and quizes.. If you do all the reading you will get an A in the class easily. He drops the lowest test and lowest quizes.. Very interesting class!

He's a good teacher, just make sure you don't get on his bad side. OH, and come to class everyday because his lectures are important(for quizes) and pop quizzes are distributed almost everyday.. they're rather easy though. other than that, I find the class rather interesting!

He's good as long as you follow the syllabus, do the objectives, and actively listen and participate in class. Hes not a hard professor-quizzes almost every class on the objectives, and his tests are also easy. I would recommend him to anyone that likes the structured class environment.

I loved this class. It's how I think classes should be as long as you're doing what you should be doing. Respect the professor, respect your fellow classmates. Pay attention, do your assignments, ask for help when you need it.

This is my favorite professor at HCC. I took his class as a dual enrollment student. He teaches at a COLLEGE level. You will need to skim the book and pay attention to his lectures. As long as you participate and follow his instructions his class is an easy A. Best guy ever, always stops to talk in the halls and remembers my name.

Barry is a great teacher if you listen to him. If you don't do the outlines or reviews, then don't raise your hand. Since class is interactive he has a specific expectation out of teacher-class interaction. It was my mistake not doing this from the start. But, if you do, he will make sure that you are engaged and learning. All which leads to an A.

The first class was rough because I did not check my email until the day the class started and did not fill out the objectives he had sent. I was honest about it and he explained to the class they will not be spoon fed and everyone needed to have them done by the next morning. After my mistake there he was an awesome teacher, I would recommend.

I'm really surprised about all the negative comments here. Silber is an excellent teacher. I suffer from anxiety and although he made the class interactive, he never forced anyone to do anything. He didn't constantly talk about sex in my class. Also, his tests are multiple choice and one Gordon paper that's easy. I got a B in the class.

This was one of my favorite professors I've taken at HCC. He knows his subject and is passionate about it, it is clear in his lectures. He is strict on attendance and homework so if you are a slacker that is late to class with no homework done of course you will get on his bad side. If you follow his assignments you will get a easy A!

I took Silber for General Psychology, he is a great professor. It is definitely not an easy class, but if you're willing to put in effort and time, you will get a lot out of the course and actually learn. Attend class, take notes, and STUDY. He is not just a great professor, but also a great person overall. I definitely recommend him.

Professor Silber was one of my favorite professors. I actually learned something in his class. HOWEVER, he's very strict about HAVING YOUR NOTES in class. In addition, he uses a lot of groupwork and videos. He's gonna make you learn. I'd recommend him.

Helpful teacher. Perhaps a little difficult to get to know and strong to react if angered, but if you're respectful and learn well it'll be fine. Strict rules on attendance, hand-raising, texting, and talking out in class. Classes can be very emotional if students want to share. Great Prof, his course will really be what you guys make of it.

Prof Silber is a peculiar teacher; his teaching methods are unorthodox, but he's a great professor. Read CAREFULLY all chapters, TAKE PLENTY of notes (Examples), PARTICIPATE in class, and you'll do fine. This is a COLLEGE LEVEL class; don't think you can get by doing minimum work - you'll fail. His teaching methods work! Psychology is eveything!

He really knows what he's talking about. I know he's retiring soon and I wish him a happy life. I'm very thankful for his teachings and I'm glad I took his class! Loved the class participation and he was very helpful, fair, and clear. Will remember him as one of my favorite professors!

He is such an entertaining guy! I was always excited about coming to class. The textbook, combined with outline/objectives ARE YOUR FRIEND!As long as you do the objectives and volunteer in class you will pass!There is a paper at the end of the semester but it is very simple and you will receive a high grade as long as you get PERSONAL in your paper

He is great he gives objectives for each class, very clear to understand and won't test on anything he hasn't talked about in class so attendance is a must. There is homework everyday 7-8 questions at the most nothing too hard to accomplish. He is great my 2nd best professor.

His abnormal psych class was not easy by any means and he uses the Socratic method of teaching, so read carefully, take notes, know your stuff and open up! He is a great professor and I am excited that I know he will forever be an inspiration to me and I can still go to him for anything. Thanks Professor Silber!

He's ok

This professor is a great professor but will make an individual work for their grades. Mr. Silber does not "hand out" grades nor does he make it impossible to get a decent grade. if this is a subject a student is passionate about he will do everything in his power to help them to understand what they must know for this class.

Hilarious, serious and knowledgeable. One of my favorite Profs.
