Not a bad professor if you pay attention and take notes!!!! His tests come from the notes!!!!

I think he's a wonderful teacher. And his tests are straight from the notes, and all multiple choice. He's very knowledable and really nice. I love this guy!

Yes, he is into Freud but it is interesting and I actually learned something. After all my psych classes, he has taught the most about Freud. NICE GUY and love the jokes in the am class to get us goin! =)

Very smart guy, but you better love Freud-He's his life's work.Study the notes-and ALOT. Tests are tricky but from the notes. Only downfall is that he presumes all students as stupid and doesn't seem to enjoy teaching. But he's clear none the less.

This guy is verry arrogant.Never raise you hand in class, just sit, pay attention and take notes, if you're wrong he'll rip you. Grade is based on 2 scantron tests that are tricky and unclear. My 2nd mistake was taking this guy, 1st was choosing Willy P

Very good professor, doesn't give anything but exams, no papers or anything, so if you fail first exam you're pretty much screwed

He definitely knows his stuff! He can seem to be unkind but if you're nice to him he can help you out. The most important thing is NOTES!!! TAKE GOOD NOTES! Don't get the book, just take good notes!!!!

Grades on a midterm and a final you muct go to class pay attention and take notes. He goes over everything that will be on the test but is a bit of a nag about studying. I didn't study and got a B on my midterm just pay attention!

He's actually a wonderful teacher. If you go to class and take good notes you are guarented an A or B. He might nag about studying but thats only becuase he cares about his students and wants to see them do well. He DOES seem intesting in his subject and seems to have mastered it pretty well.

I loved this class. Very intellegent professor! He really knows his stuff! He puts alot into the class so You learn alot! As long as you pay good attention and take good notes , you will do great.

I was totally not interested in this class until I got there. He is really an awesome teacher. He makes the material interesting. If you go to class, take notes and study those notes there is no way you can get below a B. He really cares about his students and wants you to do well. :-)

I've had him for two classes and each were taught really well. He knows his material and he really wants his students to do well. Take notes and your guaranteed a good grade because his tests are straight from the notes. They arent the easiest tests but you will definately learn stuff from him.

I highly recomend taking Theory with him. His teaching style is both passionate and knowledgable; furthermore, he has a heightened ability to turn abstract ideas written in psychological jargon into tangible concepts + he's laid back/jokes around w/ us. I definately recomend taking his Theory class.

He really knows his stuff. Very clear and precise. Lets you know exactly what is going to be on the test. Helps out if you have a problem. He makes the content more interesting than it already is, with the examples he uses for each topic. Highly recommend taking this professor.

Very helpful and teaches the material in an interesting way. Take notes and listen and you will do fine. When he tells you to read..READ IT!! He also offers a very good review for midterm and final. I would take him again.

Do NOT take this class.The people that obviously rated this guy are freaks.College is all about your GPA.This guy will lower yours substantially.Hes a really nice guy and I wish him well,he just has to take it easy. I tried very hard,went to every class n struggled on his midterm and final-Im doomed

Prof. Silverstein is very knowledgable and committed to the material that he teaches. However, there are only two exams, midterm and final, that he bases your final grade on. There is no attendance, partipation, or extra credit. Keep this in mind when choosing this professor.

He's a great teacher. This class could not be easier. Only lazy people fail his classes. This is one class where YOU earn your grade. He just records it. My only complaint is that he cares too much whether his students pass or not.

My first exam with Silverstein is tomorrow. I will Ace it. How could one complain about a guy whom knows his field, lectures clearly, and doesn't require writing? 120 questions; get 108 right... you get an A! Take notes and ask questions laze-balls!!

He's awesome, if you dont do well its your own fault NOT his, take some responsibility and show up to class and take notes and you will do really well. Grow up and stop saying he's a bad teacher bc you didnt feel like coming to class or listening. Everything on the test he goes over before. Love

He is extremely knowledgeable about the material and obviously has a great passion for teaching. He gives good, clear lectures and makes every effort to keep students interested and on track with the course material.

If you come to class, take notes and study anyone can pass the class. Why put a teacher down when its the student fault for not passing any class

This professor knows his stuff and he does his best to help students understand. He cares about the grades of his classes and wants the students to leave with as much knowledge as they can in this subject. You have to study to pass, like most classes should be.

Great teacher! I wish we had more teachers like Prof. Silverstein at WPU. Very detailed and the way he explains the material is easy and a lot a fun. He keeps us interested at all times.

Treats babies like babies. Exams won't underestimate you: Might have to use your brain a little, which you'd presumably have in college. One hint--don't confuse not liking a theory with the way it's taught. Professor Silverstein will teach the theories inside and out. Don't shoot the messenger.

Only 2 exams & readings in his book on Freud. Dont bother buying the other text just take good notes. Put half an effort forth & u will pass. I showed up payed attention read my notes before the exams & pulled off a B+ He doesnt take any BS & expects u to understand the material, which he goes over very clearly. Everything on board is on the exams.

No need to read, test come from lectures. As long as you go to all the classes and take very good notes you will have no problem with the class. He also tells you what he is going to ask on the test during lecture. a tape recorder helps alot.

Silverstein rules!! I say this after he killed my 4.0 with an A-! Gives you every tool necessary to do well. The text is deplorable and unnecessary. Silverstein is knowledgeable and hence, a bit brazen. Does tend to drift-on and over-emphasize certain concepts. He knows Freud (one of the most brilliant men to ever live) like a surgeon! great class!

Not a bad guy at all. Just do as he says (read your notes!), don't miss any classes and you won't have to read the big textbook (the little one helps and is easier to read). The tests aren't complicated and if you pay attention you'll be just fine.

Kind of interesting.. dont take it at 8am or youll be too tired to appreciate it. -Allowed 5 absenses, that is IF he bothers to take attendence. Haven't gotten any grades yet, but i expect nobody should get below a B

This professor cares about his students. Anyone who knows anything about empathy and compassion can see that he wants everyone to do well. He only gets upset if he thinks the class is going to do really bad on their exams. Give him a break. He really has a good heart and he's not a boring teaching at all. He knows the material.

HE is a great man very smart and knows his material i learned alot, he repeat alot which is great and he care about his students to pass the class,everything he talk in class is on test,great guy.I wish he was teaching something that i need.

This is the only class this semester that i showed up to every class, b/c i liked it. The class is very straight foward all his tests come from the notes and u dont really need the book. anyone who has something negative to say about this class is wrong b/c i'm planning on taking his theories class soon, if u can take notes u'll pass the class

Good professor. 2 exams..so you need to study for both or you will fail. Really knows what he is talking about and just wants you to learn it. The people who leave nasty comments are the ones who failed the class...obviously. Final is cummualitive. I would reccomend him to ppl who aren't lazy.

Got a B+... He knows what he's talking about...and spends a lot of the time talking about Freud. He gives two exams which count for pretty much all of your grade. As long as you take good notes and pay attention the class is not too hard.

Great Professor! This professor is one of the best professors I have had in my college career. I was looking forward to taking this class, and I am still very interested. This professor makes it easy to learn and is available at any time you need him. As long as you take notes, pay attention and do the readings, you will have no problem.

my man Barry is the man.. his only assignments are reading, and no more than like 15 or 20 pages at a time.. which is nothing out of a little red freud book.. he goes over everything in class.. the only way you can fail this course is by not going or actually taking the tests blindfolded.. He's a real nice guy who wants to see his students succeed!

Silverstein is probably the most underappreciated professor in the department.He is an internationally known Freud scholar,so know that you are learning from one of the best. As for the vituperative comments about course content--we must sometimes realize that professors are teaching us for a reason.They know more about some things than students!

I don't understand why people say he is hard. If you can't handle his class then you should not be in college. It consists of attending the classes, studying his notes, and reading the book. His tests come straight from the notes and he tells you a lot of what will be on the test while he is lecturing. He is straight forward, no tricks at all

Ok so he is not an easy teacher but the man is very clear and knows what he is talking about. Everything he says in his lectures are in his tests. I personally did not do so well on his test but he is a good teacher and one actually learns in his class. Plus you get a kick out of how he says "rattle" or "battle"

He's a great prof. I learned the most out of his class w/o buying/reading the books. If you pay attention to lectures & take good notes theres no reason you shouldnt get an A, I did. If you dont like to study for midterms and fnials you shouldnt take him bc those are the only grades. Hes generous enough to boost ur grade if u do better on final.

It isn't an easy class but you will DEFINETELY learn something....If psychology is truly what you are passionate for then you will get a lot out of his class...his tests arent easy...but they can be as l,ong as you pay attention to what he says because everything comes from his lectures...!! Prof is tough but I learned A LOT in this class. He wants students to THINK. Tips for getting an A: Do the readings BEFORE the class,not after. Otherwise you will have no idea what he's talking about. Take good notes. Pay attention. Participate. Take it from an A student, these tips will help in all your classes.

I don't know about you, but I really liked him as a professor!He has a sense of humor and he is very clear when he teaches. True he only gives you 2 tests, but if you takes notes and pay attention plus read the book, then you should do fine.And after he gives out the midterm, he goes over every question and half of the midterm ends up on the final.

I absolutely love this professor. It's important to pay attention and take notes in his class and he really cares about what students take from the class. Makes difficult topics easier to understand. Jokes around every now and then. It will be a shame when he retires... TAKE HIM FOR DEVELOPMENTAL AS WELL AS THEORIES!

Great professor if you actually are interested in psychology. He knows his stuff. You will learn a lot in this class and if you pay attention to his lecture and take notes you will do great on midterm and final.

In my psych class Prof. Silverstein talked about how bad he feels when his students come in here after failing his test to make him look bad. His test like every other Prof. are not that easy. all he does is talk and talk, he only gives two exams. The questions on the exam come straight out of the notes but he is tricky with most of the questions i got a 76 on the midterm. I need the B

So far, he is my favorite professor. He explains concepts and the material very well, all you have to do is take notes and listen and you'll be fine. Take him if you can. Plus, he gets to know his students very well. Don't give him attitude, wont do any good. Don't buy the book, just study your notes =)

This professor is by far the best in the psychology dept.Material isVery intrsting and 2the person below if you got a D, thenU didNOT studyor engage ANY material. Your fault, NOT his. Professor Silverstein is the best professor I've had in a LONG time! I have him this semester and I swear it is my favorite class. He is funny and interesting and when you interact with him the class gets even better. He is very intelligent and extremely helpful. This was definitely a course worth taking!!! I learned so much from Silverstein! I used the information I learned from his course last semester to help me write a 35 page paper for another professor this semester. Every detail he tests you on is written on the board and clarified. You'd be crazy not to take him!!!

Developmental was my favorite course I've taken so far! Insanely interesting! There are only 2 exams and all of the information comes directly from the notes he gives in class. He takes the information from the book, writes it on the board, and explains it so we can understand it more clearly. He's the best! I wish he taught more courses!

Anyone who thinks he is unfair is just a lazy bum. He is a great prof and a brilliant guy. He is perfectly willing to help you along the way if you let him. He is very very stubborn and kind of cold though. Give him a chance and you'll learn alot. Be flattered that he expects so much from you.

He needs to be told how awesome he is. I learned SO much and it's sticking with me! People were mean to him though. He didn't deserve that. He can be cold sometimes, but it's just tough love! Besides Haines, this is basically the only class that felt like a actual university class!!

What are you people talking about!!!! You sit in class, listen attentively, study your notes and the midterm and final are word for word in your notebook. You have to do the work in class, and prepare and organize your notes at home and thats it!!! it does not get any easier people. You also learn so much in his class.

Professor Silverstein is a very good professor. He gives mini reviews of the previous class before going over new material. Everything on the test gets written on the board. Class is based on two tests. The notes he gives in class are exactly what you study for the exam. Whatever he writes on the board is more likely to be on the exam. He loves to talk about the books he's written. Don't buy the textbook.

I love beyond everything extra credit and this man only has a midterm and a final which determines your grade. sixty multiple choice questions for each exam.. only 120 multiple choice questions determining your grade. and he has an obsession with freud. be forewarned more than half the final is midterm material.

yes, there is only a midterm and a final, but if you go to class and take proper notes, and study periodically you'll do fine. my advice is don't crash the night before the exam !

This professor knows his stuff and exerts a lot of effort teaching the material. If you take notes during EVERY class & attend EVERY class you will get an easy A. He gives you the answers to the midterm & puts the exact same questions on the final + new material. Study, attend class, take notes & you're golden!

Psy 210&350.He is a bit annoying but I've learned more in his Theories class than any other class I've ever taken.You don't need the bk for either course but you do NEED to STUDY.He does a recap of the last class& he will ask you questions PAY ATT'n those same questions will be on the MT&FL.I wish he taught more courses!

I had this prof. for developmental 210 and theories 350 he is very knowledgeable about the topics and very passionate. with this as a combination he is a great educator. as long as you attend class, take proper notes and study also read the "red book" the midterm and I assume final will be easy.

This professor is one of the best professor's I've had. Yeah, he can get on your nerves & is very repetitive but it's all for the best. Just SHOW UP & TAKE NOTES. The reading is pretty mandatory, but the notes he gives makes up for not reading. But overall, he is a GREAT professor.

Great Teacher! and very helpful!, the test are right off of the notes taken in class. If you take notes read them everyday the test will be straight forward. If you are a psych major and like pyschoanalytic and the mind this is the class for you! I enjoyed this class, I would def take it again!
