this teacher is nice but strict in her own weird way. it doesnt bother me cuz i always attend class n/e-way & she emphasizes attendance in the beggining of the course. lots of group work, exercises, hw, quizzes and a 4page research paper.but its all EASY

this teacher is very understanding and clear on the assignments she gives. the only thing is that she is very strict on her due dates but other than that, she is very easy to get along with.

Professor Basak is more than willing to help all of her students if they have any questions. She is very clear with her instructions for each assignment, so there is no reason to do poorly on them. She lectures on grammar and writing a research paper extensively. If you follow her instructions, and put effort into your work, you will do very well.

Super helpful and easy teacher for English comp. She's very clear and helpfull and a snazy dresser. Tarkan encouraged me to write and needless to say, I got an A in her class. Very nice person to. Professor Tarkan-Blanco is an awesome professor, very knowledgeable and helpful.

Professor Basak is a good teacher. She gives a 5 question quiz once a week but gives you the questions in advance. If you dont study for the quiz you will fail. She is really nice but strict in a calm matter if you miss more than 5 classes she will drop you. Although the quizzes are easy, she grades tough on essay's! overall she is a good teacher

Once you adapt your writing to suit her grading, getting As become a lot easier. Write all essays critically (critcise the author). She wants you to do well and it shows as she gives you the exact questions that will be on the quizes so you can study. Her Terkish accent is sure to captivate the attention of her male students. I dont know why people say shes horrible. Shes a great teacher who was strict at first but she lightened up at the end of the semester. The workload was light compared to most English Teachers. We rarely wrote essays and the research paper was optional. She wants her students to do well. I highly recommend her!

This professor's teaching methods are innovative and very easy, but at a price. She has a strict tolerance for cell phones and attendance. Whatever you do, don't show up late and for the love of God don't text in class! Do the work and you'll be fine. EASY CLASS! She tells you exactly what she wants in every assignment, even provides multiple examples. 7 journal entries one 7 pg paper for the semester. She gives extra points for attendance. Dont be late or youl have to write a late note. Learned alot in this class

She gives a lot of work to do both in class and for homework. There is a lot of writing to do in this class. So if you are not a serious student don't bother registering in her class. You must follow instructions carefully as she states. I give her a 3 out of 5.

Ridiculously tough class. Extremely strict about tardiness. There is always classwork and/or homework. INTENSIVE WRITING CLASS. The only way to Ace the class is to do exactly as she requires you to the teeth. If you have other classes, don't like writing, don't like homework, and don't want to feel like you never left high school, don't take her.

If you do not want to work, do not take this class. The load is heavy and intense. However, this professor is clear about what she wants, so there is little room for error. This professor cares about her students' success; however, I don't think she realizes this isn't an upper-level course. I speak for the class when I say people felt the teacher graded the written assignments too harshly. Many people dropped. Some people don't like to work, but even the good students felt she was picky to point of being unreasonable

Professor Blanco is such a great professor! Her syllabus and introduction to the class are slightly intimidating, but it's only because she wants to clear things up so there's no confusion. She makes you work for your grade, but is always very willing to help and always encourages you to do your best! I recommend her!

I loved this class. You really need to work for your grade because of all the journals, assignments and quizzes but you end up learning alot. Make sure you like your group members, the only damper was group drama. Don't take if you are a slacker, but do take if you really want to learn. I disagree with every major assignment being a group collaboration, because that means we depend on other people for our grades. If you can record her lesons because she loses her train of thoughts from time to time. She also forces you to work on group research papers and essays. Make sure you choose a good group. Oh boy I felt it as hard as Calculus. This is not an EASY A class. You need to put time, effort, and dedication. She wants COLLEGE PAPERS, therefore, you will learn how to write college-level essays. I took Dr. Tarkan at FIU. Academically, she is an amazing professor. She makes the class to do harder assignments than required. Although that is a good thing which helps us in the future, I think she shouldn't have such great expectations of college students. Tip: ALWAYS call her Doctor. I had the opportunity of taking Dr. Tarkan-Blanco at FIU. She is a very good professor, however she is also one of the pickiest. You MUST make sure to be punctual. For every 3 tardies, it counts as one absence. If you have 3+ absences, she will deduct your grade by one letter per absence. She is nice if you approach her but during class she's not.
