Great guy! Treats all students the same (no favorites). Puts time into helping students when he is asked. Very funny during lectures which makes it easy and interesting to learn
makes lectures interesting. Very helpful in class and always answers emails quickly. I hated the course but he made it interesting.
He truly loves the subject and is a really cool guy. He is younger, so it makes it easy to relate to him. He has a great sense of humor and will do anything to make sure you understand the material. Highly recommended!

Very interesting classes. I looked foward to going to each one.
I loved this Guy!!!!!His lectures were awesome, I looked forward to his class everyday, he made it so interesting!
He has no personality and his lectures aren't interesting. And I'm really interested in Humanities but he's no History channel. His videos are a pain to watch and he's often confused when a student asks a question. But his tests are very easy but I don;t think I learned anything in it.
I founded him to be very informative, passionate, and very well prepare.
He is very enthusiastic about the Humanities/Arts field
he ia an awesome professor, very enthusiastic about what he is teaching
he is a very well prepared instructor and will not test u on anything he doesnt talk about. he is clear in what he wants and there is no reason that anyone should have to drop or fail his class he is always there for you and is truly a wonderful teacher. I looked forward to being in his class
great teacher. Really passionate about what he is teaching and vey fun and interesting lectures. He has a great sense of humor so it makes the class go by much faster and helps with remembering the information. Very much information so it was kind of tough, but overall a great experience.
Mr. Basil is a very cool teacher. He is just as passionate about his material for the class as he is for his students to do well. Always willing to help his students out to better there grade and experience in the class. The only thing to watch out for is the wording on the tests...
Mr. M. is enthusiastic, intelligent, interesting and funny. He shows you why he sees what he sees and makes you open your eyes and look at what is infront of you. Very passionate throughout his entire class and has traveled all over so he knows what he is talking about and makes you love it like him
Mr.M was a great teacher. His passion for the subject makes the class interesting. Learned alot in a short amount of time and loved going to class!Great teacher.
Mr. Moutsatsos seems to be very intelligent and well eduacated. However, I think that his method of direction is some what confusing. not enough time given for test/exams. Humanities is alot of information and just hurrying thru an exam that requires alot of thinking just doesn't make much sense.
Great teacher! Funny, intresting, informitive, easy going, smart, and easy to talk to. One of my favorites!
Mr. M's passion for the arts is contagious. Makes you want to give art a second chance. Be prepared to take lots of notes, but you are only tested on those notes. Remember, eat plenty of fish and you should do well.
He is a great instructor. he knows his material and very well educated. His testing system is a little hard. All of his tests come directly from his study guides. If you takes note and study, you will do well in his class.however, it is hard to get an A.He is willing to answer any your question.
This is my second semester with Mr.Basil, and once again, it was a pleasure to have him. There are lots of notes and information in this class, but tests are not the main grades. We did writings and a paper on Feng Shui, which was all opinionated and hard not to get good grades on. Lots of Asian names, but as long as you study, you'll do well.
He was an awsome teacher.
Basil is awesome! His classes were by far the easiest I had all year. His tests were ridiculously easy, although the true/false questions sometimes have a twist. The essays can be written in 1/2 hour. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Basil is awesome! I took him twice and each time I got away with murder in his class. If your a class clown this is the teacher for you. As it was for me. All of his tests are on his notes he gives during class. Before each class a few people and I study for 3 hours and we all got A's. His papers are easy enough if you do them.
Yo this teacher is extremely easy. He is very good at giving notes. His quizes and exams are really simple, even if you dont study. Overall an easy class
One word: Awesome.
He is an easy teacher if you study. His tests are hard if you do not study. The long essay takes a LONG time. The short essay can be done in 2 hrs. He writes REALLY messy. He has no organization to his notes. He does them in a rough outline format.
I have taken alot of classes through SPC and this professor is one of the best professors I have ever had. With his powerpoint presentations and notes from the text he makes this class exciting and a joy to work on.
Pretty cool guy, he really likes what he does and will take student comments to heart.Kinda goofy but nice.
Basil is one of the greatest professors SPC has! I wasn't looking forward to taking this class, but he made it fun & easy! All of his exams (3) are based on the notes taken in class. I never even had to open the book! Taking him again next semester. He really loves to teach this subject, which makes him a great professor. Definitely recommend. :)

This guy is awesome! I love him! He's the best professor I have had so far! He's got a great sense of humor and he really knows what he is talking about!
Dreaded taking this class(again) but this teacher is awesome. He knows alot about this subject and makes it interesting somehow. His test come straight from the notes and a review sheet that tells you exactly what to study. Definitly taking him again!
Loved him, kept it interesting. Highly recommended.

He's a really great guy, and has an... interesting sence of humor. The jokes don't always hit but you have to give the guy credit. Very smart and knows his stuff. Very easy to understand. Tests come directly from the notes. 2 Papers to do, not bad at all. Wouldn't waste the money in buying the book, I got an A and never opened it once.
Awesome teacher. Very funny. He keeps the class interested in what he is saying. Always answers questions after class and always offers office time to help. Not to many quizes or work at that matter. Easy A.
Good teacher. Not a big fan of his teaching. Topics too narrow focused. Gets into great detail, but fails to paint a big picture. Kind of frustrating. Book is dry and incomprehensible - thanks god he does not use it. Tests are ez if you memorize the notes. This is one of those "memorize everything" classes, no critical thinking needed.
Started out okay, kind of uncler about assignments sometimes, some tests not having information on what he told us to study. Gets really boring really quickly because of his really dry humor, and note taking ALL class, EVERY day. Will work with you, but reminded me of my old high school teachers with the way he talked to us and treated us. He is ok
Awesome teacher!! Explains everything! He's funny and makes the class very interesting. By far the best class I've had in my college career!
Awesome professor! Very helpful with what ever problem you have. Lots of notes, but if you write them all down and study them you will pass the class.
Great teacher, super smart, and cute, couldn't be anymore kind or caring-I'll say it again, great, great teacher I will most definately take one of his classes again
Don't even bother wasting your money and buying the book. All of his tests and quizes are directly from the notes he gives. All you do is take notes in class and they get kind of long, but if you take them and study it is an easy A. If your not good at memorizing a lot of info I wouldn't take him. DON'T BE LATE TO HIS CLASS!!
Basil's maaad funny, if you're dry, you won't get it his humor. The class was a blast. Extremely interesting and Basil knows how to engage you in even the most boring things and make them exciting. P.S.- Kopernicus was never decapitated.
Just take the notes he writes down on the board ... its a lot you'll have about 50 pages of notes by the end of the semester but you only have two homework assignments the whole semester and everything else is based on the tests... and all you have to do is read over your notes a few times ... he is a good teacher but def has a dry sense of humor b
He loves what he is teaching so it made me more interested in the subeject. He is also chill and relaxed and fun!
He keeps it interesting and is also great to look at!
WONDERFUL TEACHER! It's teachers like these that make me want to come to school/class.
GREAT TEACHER. Class is super easy!! It does not get boring. You take a lot a lot a lot of notes but if you study all the notes you will get an A on the tests. Tests and quizzes are based everything on class notes. You have to do one short and one long essay that are both super easy. He has a great sense of humor and is good looking.AWESOME TEACHER
At first the class seemed great and it slowly began to decline. I lost points on papers for nothing and when I asked him to explain he had no response. Frequent grading problems, exam material not covered. Overall unpleasant class in the end.
At first the class seemed great and it slowly began to decline. I lost points on papers for nothing and when I asked him to explain he had no response. Frequent grading problems, exam material not covered. Overall unpleasant class in the end.
Basil is a gem! Pay attention, take notes and study them… you will pass. He is also very helpful if you have questions, in or outside of class. His humor is a little dry, so some get offended, but all in all, he is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and loves what he does--which is why he is so good at it.
Unless you're extremely interested in Humanitites - stay away from this class, there is nothing fun and interesting about his teaching - you basically write down everything he writes on the board - you will get writers cramp
I took him for both western humanities and again4 east-west humanities. He is a great teacher. He makes attempts to make the class fun.You must take all his notes (and there is a alot!). His test questions are straight from the lecture. Don't bother buying the book. Just make sure you study and turn in assignments on time. Definitely recommend him.
I LOVED this professor so much. After my first semester with him, I wanted to go and take all his other classes. I loved coming to class. I loved that he had stories from all the countries he visited, and any pictures he used were taken himself. He was so helpful, and so fun. Really crazy at times, but just awesome! TAKE HIS CLASSES!
I took him for Humanities II. He is very interested in this material and that helps to get the students interested. Just take diligent notes and study them and the slides that he posts on line and you'll do well. The questions are right off of the notes. Don't waste the money buying the book. He responds well to email.
Great professor. Very interested in his field. I love that he has been to these countries he teaches about. He makes a topic that can very easily be boring something I want to know more about. Plus he's not too bad to look at either!
he's a great teacher. the class isn't just easy but you'll also learn the material. he makes class fun and interesting. the tests is an easy A if you take notes and study from it
It's hard NOT to like this guy. He's a droll, well versed, well traveled, enthusiastic professor who is most concerned with helping students get the most out of the class. He makes history fun with his relations to modern day life spoken in unabashed speech. Also, you gotta love how he says,"if you have any questions, come see me in the smoking area
He is awesome! If you need to take a humanities course i strongly suggest you take him. His tests come strictly from the notes! If you study an hour and a half before his tests you should pass. There are two essays and they are on easy topics. He is great! and loves to answer questions! i wish he taught more classes.
I had/have him for Humanities 1 and 2. He is an amazing teacher. I learned SOO much. As long as you take down the notes from the board your good. He gives you reviews for tests that will help you A LOT and he is ALWAYS willing to help. He's the best teacher at SPC and he is nice to look at too.
Great teacher. A little out there sometimes but extremely passionate about what he teaches which makes it easier to learn from him. He's actually been to a lot of the places he teaches and can give first hand descriptions about historic things. 2 essays, semi- diffucult. Don't wait to do them at the last minute!!
Best teacher at TS campus. Awesome lectures, just pay attention to them. Test and quizzes were a breeze for me. Must take him for any humanties class.
Excellent teacher, excellent class. I highly reccomend him!!
I've never met a man that explained art to me, that took each piece and had a story behind it. He always had a desire for his students, to learn of course. The one day i was late and he reprimanded me, I loved it. I've never had a teacher care so much about his students education! Definitely take his class.
I loved takinh his class. He has a passion for teaching and it shows through his lectures. The class is based on notes, which he writes on the board and his quizs and tests are from that. He is a funny guy who genuinly cares about his students. You have to study, but he makes it so interesting that you want to learn.
I took Mr. M for Humanities 1 as well. He's got a passion for what he teaches but can get a little excessive on one topic. However, he explains things into detail. You have to study for his tests and quizzes and do the museum essay early so he can help you with it. He's a pretty awesome teacher!
by far my favorite teacher, hysterical and is really a greek Seth Rogan. he was literally was in the museum helping me with the museum essay. he made humanities my favorite subject and i even look at art differently now. love love love him!!!
I have never had such a great teacher. He really knows what he is talking about, and is very up-beat. I highly recommend him. He makes the class fun, although there are a lot of notes you'll understand the material. He likes to have fun, and makes learning fun. Really an amazing teacher. By far my favorite so far. :)
Mr. Moutsatsos is such an interesting character. He is very welcoming, and I have seen him go out of his way to aid other students. His tests are fair and based solely off his lectures, as are the extra credit questions on the tests. He explains the material so well that study for tests is simple!!! TAKE HIM, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!
Hands down best teacher I've ever had. I would recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. I went into this class dreading it and now it's one of my favorite subjects.
he is a really nice person and his class is easy. just take notes and study them. the book is useless. all tests come straight from the notes.
He is one of my favorite teachers - great class! Very upbeat attitude and even with the substantial amount of info covered within this class- he breaks it down, welcomes questions/discussions, and explains it clearly so it is easier to understand. This teacher is definitely on the top of my list of favorites!
Enthusiastic about Humanities
online course, All text from book, questions on test aren't same as book sometimes and teacher doesn't care. Very blaaaa
Great Teacher I absolutely loved his class. Take the notes and study them you will pass. We never used the book and he would answer and questions you would ask. TAKE HIM!
This was my favorite professor at SPC ever. He piqued my interest in humanities, and I've taken him for both classes. Take notes and study, you will do well. Especially if you remember obscure stuff that will help for extra credit. No real "homework", just a couple papers. Overall AMAZING teacher!
He knows his stuff. He has travel to some of the places that are in his lecture, very good at conveying the infromation.
Basil knows his subject all for memory. Anything he writes on the board will be on the tests or quizzes. Watch out for the art essay. It's not an easy paper to write so start asap and get advice from him as you go. As well as have the SPC writing tutor proofread your paper. Follow the essay instructions religiously to get a good grade.
Great professor!! Study for Midterms. What is on the board, is on the midterm and final. anything goes. And please, remember how to spell his name! It is important.
He was DE BOMB!!!
I took this guy for HUM 2230 as well, Great guy, will explain anything that you dont understand. He is SERIOUS about some note taking (all class your gonna take notes) and its a given that spelling his name correctly is gonna be on an exam. definatly got me interested in class. I encourage you to take him, dude is pretty cool guy.
Love this teacher! He's so funny and sarcastic and makes one of the most dreadful classes a pleasure. You must study to earn an A but with a little hard work it's possible.Be sure to use details you've covered in class on the Midterm paper. I recommend a book for picture/study use.
He loves what he teaches, and his enthusiasm shows in his lectures. The system is simple- write notes, study notes, retain information and you'll do well on the tests. He's not very strict, but he expects that you're polite. It's an easy going atmosphere and he likes to have class discussions. He answers all your questions. I think it's a fun class
Great sense of humor. Interest in his students. Very practical and reasonable in working with grades. He likes essay questions but is very fourthcoming with extra credit. Stay on top of the notes and you'll be fine
Such an awesome and raw teacher. Tells it like it is, makes everything interesting
i loved this professor. normally the material would bore me to sleep but he was such a funny and scarcastic guy that he made the info retainable and kept class VERY INTERESTING. You take notes off a powerpoint basically the whole class time. study it. and you'll get an A easy. 1 midterm, final, and 1500 word essay. and 4 quizes.thats it.take him:)
TOP RECOMMENDED. This guy... HA! He's head of the department for a reason. He's just good, plain and simple. He's no walk in the park but he makes it interesting.
Honestly if your going to take Humanities take Basil he makes learning so interesting!
i took him online he hardly responded to my emails. i was hospitalized for 4 days and he said my missed assignment wouldnt effect my grade but he never took the 0 way. he is a jerk!!
overall easy class
VERY HARD CLASS! STUDIED 2HOURS A DAY, DID ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS, AND REPORTS!NEVER LATE! STILL DIDNT PASS! HIS GRADINGS ARE TOO HARSH!I HAD A 4.0 BEFORE HIS CLASS! NOW IM DOWN TO 3.5! BTW IT WAS ONLINE! THE EASIEST I FOUND WAS TO BE THE QUIZES! FINAL WAS REDICULOUS!!!!
BEST PROFESSOR I have ever had! He's one of those teachers that can leave a positive impact on you. He's SO nice, funny, easy to understand, and knows SO much about the subject that it makes it easy for anyone to take an interest in it too. He makes me WANT to attend class! Quizzes are straight from the notes. YOU rightfully earn your grade.
He likes to make you write journal entries. His questions on the quizzes are somewhat difficult. You need to fully read the chapter to understand this course. He is not very helpful and doesn't get involved. I felt like I could've learned more from a different instructor.
One of the best professors I've come across. He is passionate about what he teaches and knows his stuff! I had no interest prior to taking this class and now I'm 100% intrigued! I cannot wait to take the next class with him next semester.
I think everyone rating him badly is taking him online. It's not a hard class. Quizzes are straight from the notes. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK, unless you want to look at the pictures. He's a fair teacher, knows what he's teaching, and tries to make it fun. I've really enjoyed his class.
AMAZING TEACHER! Really knows his stuff and is willing to have discusssions. Funny and interesting the whole semester. DON'T BUY THE BOOK and don't miss a lot of class because there are a lot of notes. He is great and I'm taking him again next semester.
He made the class a blast. I actually looked forward to attending. Don't buy the textbook because he writes out all the notes, which make it extremely easily to follow along. Don't miss class because he covers a lot of notes in a day. The tests and quizzes are super easy as long as you spend time to actually study.
Moutsatsos seems genuinely interested in his subject and his students. Makes the material relevant and interesting, always gives a dose of humor. You won't regret taking him. Go to class (always), study what he writes on the board and you're set!
Professor Moutsatsos is very knowledgeable and expects college level work from his students, and is picky about thesis statements. Weekly quizzes consist of multiple choice questions taken directly from the assigned chapter. Mid-term on first half of the book, the final is on the last 6 chapters. Easy, fun class.
Hes a nice guy just study the notes that he writes on the board and write the papers and you'll be fine hes funny too.
He is a nice guy and funny study the notes he gives off the board and write the paper you'll be fine
I Love prof. Moutsatsos. I took the class online, he's not easy, you have to work your but off, but he is so helpful, so knowledgeable in the subject, he's been to almost all the places we studied in the class and you will really learn. He makes it so interesting. I will highly recommend him. GREAT TEACHER. Got an A in his class but it was hard!
I can attest to all of the positive comments here on Professor Moutsatsos! I took him for 3 different Humanities courses JUST because of him! I took these classes almost 6 years ago and I STILL think of him as my favorite professor ever! He genuinely cares about the subject and the students. He has definitely made a lasting impression on me!
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. At least, not if you're taking him in person. I took him for 2 classes and never used any books. He's the best teacher. Funny and fair. I love attending the class. Tests are straight from notes and papers aren't too difficult, and he's always available for you. 10/10!
Good young teacher who is passionate about his topic. Makes you think, but watch out when doing his research papers, follow directions exactly.
VERY PASSIONATE. But you need to work super hard for an A. I found that some of the material drags on a bit. But, its an overall easy class. He is funny too which helps otherwise I would have been alseep. If you are passionate about art. TAKE HIM! If not, TAKE HIM. Makes stuff interesting
Most lecture are on the board, some material can make you sleep, do not buy the book, bring some coffee that would be really nice! 3 quizzes, 3 short writings, 3 exams, Need to remember of name for extra credit, all in all, he was awesome! :)
Very good and passionate teacher. Makes class alive with his jokes otherwise makes you sleep. He's helpful and dedicated teacher. A lot of note taking but everything is in there so just study and you'll be fine. Glad i had him in humanities. I got an A.
By far the one of THE BEST teaches I have had at SPC. All tests are note based. Musseum essay is CLEARLY explained in the syllabus. If you follow your outline you'll get a good grade. No extracredit but you shouldnt need it with the answers to the test in your notes.
Prof. Moutsatsos is 100% worth taking. He vividly explains everything in the notes and writes them all on the board. If it doesn't get any better, the test are based solely on the notes, though the book is a nice reference, yet not necessary. Currently, I have over a 100% and am already signed up for another one of his classes. Highly recommended!
There is SO much I could say about this professor!! By far the BEST professor I have ever had. His sense of humor keeps the class alive. Writes on the board EVERYTHING you need to know on the tests! Haven't even cracked open my book. I just studied the material he wrote on the board and have passed every test. AMAZING PROFESSER!!!
Maybe its bcz I took this class online, but he was a tool. He was remarkably condescending & has his own rules for writing. NOTE* Abandon your ENC1 knowledge: put your thesis as the first sentence of your essays. He takes weeks to grade papers. He does grant extensions, though I never asked for one. I would not choose this professor again.
Funny!! Everything for tests and quizzes is written on the board & in PP. Great teacher, have recommended him to everyone. Informative stories, he goes in-depth on stuff you would never know in history. He is available if needed -office hours. Great teacher, wish he taught more classes.
Professor M is the funniest professor I have ever had. Every lecture is straight notes but he makes it interesting. There aren't many grades and exams are worth 20% of grade; definitely study. There are a few writing assignments but they are easy. I enjoyed this class even for it being at 8:00am. Just rent novel assigned, don't buy textbook.
Knowledgeable in his field! Extra picky about thesis statements on wkly journals! Lots of reading, some weeks up to 3 chapters! If you read assigned material and watch pp you will do good on wkly quizess. Midterm based on first half of course, final based on second half. Hard tests. Must read, read, read and study, study, study! Love him! Got an A
If you take this class online be prepared for a lot of writing; tests are hard; must be able to express yourself in a scholarly manner when completing discussion assignments which are mandatory.
The usual online class. Expect some sort of writing assignment every week along with a quiz. Rather picky about grading - he wants thesis statements on 250 word essays. I've had better and worse but since it's basically a required class, it could have been worse.
Took online and spent a few hours a week in this class. Quizzes are every week along with either a discussion or essay assignment. Overall I enjoyed this class and received great communication from the instructor. My only complaint is the time limit on tests is about a minute per question, not great if you are a slow test taker
You must take him! I love this professor! He is one of my favorites! He is very passionate about what he teaches. He keeps you interested with his hilarious jokes. He is very fair with his grading. The notes will be your golden ticket to passing. Wish I could take again!
Great teacher, makes the class come alive, always able to help and work with you.
I wish I could take more of his classes. He made me love this class. He's very knowledgeable and will go the extra mile to make sure you understand. A bit nit picky on tests, so be sure to read the questions fully. Be there, take notes, and look over them before the test and you should be fine. Great way to wake up each morning.
The tests are tough! A lot of reading required and lots of writing
This is my second class I took with him and absolutely loved it. He writes all the notes on the board and what he writes is whats on the tests. No questions about things he doesn't go over or to trick you. Everything is straight forward. He definitely makes an 8am class entertaining.
Prof. Moutsatsos and HUM 2210 are towards the top for favorite classes and instructors after this past semester. His lecture are key, as what's discussed is on the test. If you miss a class, it's pivotal to get the notes from someone! His quizzes and tests are fairly easy. His personality and passion for the subject made the class entertaining.
Professor Moutsatsos is an amazing instructor! You will not want to miss a single lecture as they are what the quizzes and exams are based on. He clearly writes everything on the board for you to study for. You are expected to do one culture event. Take good notes from the board and study them, you will pass. His lectures are worth every minute.
Amazing/hilarious teacher. Writes everything on the board and clarifies whats important. Would take him again many times!
wonderful professor, recommend taking him for any humanities class because he makes the class very fun and very memorable. which helps in studying and on the exams. only warning I give is to go to class, you can't miss any class because you wont pass. He old school and write everything out that day and doesn't make power points.
by far one of my favorite classes! He is so funny and makes you interested in the subject. I took him for western humanities ancient to renaissance. Will say lots and lots of note taking! about 4 quizzes, 1 midterm(over 100 questions) and finale. if you study you will pass!! Also a 1500 word essay. overall great class!
great teacher overall, very funny. this class is not for people who does not like to write. tons and tons of note taking!! so don't skip class all the notes he writes on the board will be on the test. Remember certain names for extra credit. You do not need a textbook he says you will but don't need to buy one ! great funny teacher overall!!
Very straight forward and sarcastic. You will never use the book not even once and all you do is take notes pretty simple just show up and memorize notes
Funny teacher but you do not need a book ! Save yourself money never use the book or access code. You do not wanna miss class he takes lots of notes write everything down ! 4 quizzes(21 questions each) and 2 test (100 questions each) everything on the notes he wrote. he is very picky with the essay but that's about it (1 2,000 word essay) +outline
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN! He is the worst most egotistical professor alive. He comes off as funny at first, but the favoritism is real. Likes to kick you out of class a week after you said something he doesn't like. He covers his tracks so he can't get in trouble. He's just a big bully. Good luck if you do.
Overall Mr. Moutsatsos is a very funny humanities teacher, the subject may not be so interesting for everyone but he definitely makes it more interesting. Basically as long as you are there in class to take the notes, the quizzes are super easy. As for coursework- 4 quizzes 2 tests(one is your final) and two papers.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class, i took him for hum east-west synthesis and actually looked forward to showing up in the morning. Just take the notes, put the smallest bit of effort into the very FEW papers he gives and you'll pass no problem. Oh and dont buy the book, maybe buy Siddhartha, but even then you dont really need to.
Professor Basil Moutsatsos is a great choice for humanities. He is very hilarious and makes the class fun! There's a lot of note taking! As long as you show up and review the notes before tests, you should do fine. You do NOT need the book! He's very loud and as long as you don't interrupt him constantly while he's talking, he will like you.
Very energetic class for an 8am. Knew how to keep everyones attention and made learning about boring topics pretty interesting. Great guy with amazing and up-beat lectures. Only two big papers and three tests you have to worry about. The quizzes are all on info you go over in the lecture. If you show up, take notes, & study your notes, you'll pass
Professor Moutsatsos is an excellent teacher. When I took Western Humanities II, I was not optimistic and thought it would be extremely boring as I was not interested in art. After taking his class, I have gained an appreciation for art and will visit art exhibits and can enjoy myself. I have found memories of taking this course. "Thank you sir."
Took him for intro into humanities funny teacher makes you interested in the class. You must show up because most of class is taking notes which is what all his test and exams are on. So make sure to study. Have 2 700 word papers. As long as you study and do the papers you will pass!
This professor is very interested in humanities and makes it interesting for the class. He keeps you engaged with his sense of humor, videos, pictures, and notes. His study guides cover the material on the test. His papers aren't graded too harshly. All in all a good teacher!
Professor Moutsatsos is an amazing professor. I took the class online & he was very laid back & graded everything weekly. Being a humanities class there was a lot of writing but it was super easy. A quiz and writing assignment was due every week and there was a writing essay at the end of the course. I would definitely recommend taking his course.
professor moutsatsos was very interesting! you dont have to go to class but you will miss the notes for the tests. we only used the book a couple of times.
Professor Moutsatsos is one of the best professors I have taken during my two years at SPC he really loves what he teaches and cares about his student. If you put your effort into the work he will give the same effort and feedback. i have taken 2 classes of his and I would definitely take another!
At first, everything fine, but as the semester was going through I realized that he was kind of fake. It took me almost a month to make my first essay perfect and he gave me a C without even justifying what I did wrong. Test and quizzes are hard due to his "tricky questions".
Do as instructed and get an easy A. 10 well instructed essays/discussions. 9 quizzes, 10 questions each. This is a GREAT professor
Hands down the funniest professor. He isn't afraid to "go there". But I mean that in the best way possible. He's extremely knowledgeable about what he teaches, and will have an answer for any question you ask. He really reminds me of Frank Zappa (Google him...)
Basil is a living work of art.
Lots of reading and a bit of a tough grader.
Made humanities interesting and fun. Assigns quizzes in class ,but lets you know when. Tests and quizzes I found super easy as long as you take notes in class! 1 essay. He is hilarious and makes class enjoyable.
At first taking, this class was simple, gave great feedback. I would say I learned little to none in this class not worth spending the 389.00 but you need it to get an AA. Towards the end of the semester, his attitude turned, also taking forever to grade items submitted weeks before its due. Would not take again due to those reasons.
I took it online. Discussions are very long.500 words initial post, about 300 words reply to 2 classmates, plus reflection to your own post. I believe is too much for discussions! A lot of work for this boring class. Quizzes weekly 15 minutes for 10 question(no time to look over notes) You must attend approved event and show ticket. Very slow grade
Hilarious lectures, the only 8am class I ever enjoyed. he truly cares about his students and tries to make every class interesting. 10/10 would take again!!
Took his class online he is an amazing teacher one of the best teachers i have ever had. He really cares about his students and i got a b in his class. I recommend anybody who is taking humanities to take him over anybody.
He is a great professor, I took his class online. I took the accelerated class, and it was very easy and I passed with an A. As long as you keep up with his weekly schedule of assignments you'll be fine. Weekly discussion posts, quizzes and there is a midterm, final, and museum project. I recommend!!
First semester at SPC and I Really enjoyed Basils class. Even though I had him at 8am he made the class worth going to. Loved his lectures, made it interesting and fun to learn. No book required just show up to class !!
This man is a gem! He is caring, funny, and straight forward. I took him when I first came back to college, and I am not disappointed. If you have the opportunity to take any of his classes, please do! If you communicate with him, he will do anything to help you succeed.
Great Professor! If you write down everything on the board then your fine. All quizzes are easy if you reread your notes. Taking him again for western humanities!
He's an excellent professor. His lectures a very entertaining, and he's amusing. His quizzes and test are easy if you pay attention in class and if you study. There is a lot of note-taking, but it helps you in the end.
Professor M. was one of the hardest professors I've had. He was knowledgeable but lacks professionalism and doesn't seem to care at all. I wouldn't recommend him if you're trying to get a good grade.
He is a very respectful, funny, smart guy. His class was difficult for me but he tries his best to make his classes interesting. He laid out everything clearly in his syllabus, and was fair with every student. Definitely be prepared for lots of studying though.
really enjoyed this class
He is the BEST professor I have had at SPC. His classes consists of him lecturing, but they are far from boring. He does not take attendance but if you dont take notes you wont pass. I highly, highly recommend taking Prof Moutsatsos class! He teaches not only the curriculum but info you can use in your life.
Western Humanities online course with Prof. M. was great. Every week a discussion post or essay is required and he reads them and provides constructive feedback. 6 question and 20 question quizzes every other week. The cultural experience assignment is a good way to do a paper without a textbook. If you can do essays, this class will be fun.
Basil is the best Humanities professor I could have taken. I took this during the Summer class online and it was an easy A as long as you did the assignment! Quite a few discussion posts & essays but they are super easy! There is one assignment where you have to go to a museum or theater performance and do a writing activity. Super easy class
I took this as a summer online course. Best professor! As long as you do the work you will get a high A. Each week there was a quiz due along with either a discussion post or a very short paper. No midterm or final. One assignment requires a museum visit. Very easy A. Highly recommend him as long as you have motivation to do the work.
Maybe it's just me, but I often felt like there was an unreasonable workload in this summer course. "SO MANY PAPERS" is right. It was a lot but it wasn't impossible.
Great Professor attend class take notes and study and you will be fine.
One of my favorite professors ever. The lectures were very interesting and kept the whole class engaged. He graded the paper fairly. The tests were very easy if you studied for them.
I took Basil twice, this was my second class with him. He explains and letures very well, it stays with you. All test and quizzes are based off of notes. Essays in his class are ok, tough grader with the long essay. Strict on attendance, miss one class then you are behind.
Professor Moutsatsos is my all time favorite professor, I could take this class 10 times over and learn take something new and insightful away each time because of his great lectures. I've never had a professor who has been able to confidently answer every question asked by a student or myself. His lectures are packed and interesting, don't skip!
Professor Moutsatsos was a very interesting character this semester. His teaching style is very easy to follow if you listen and constantly take notes. It took me a while to navigate how to work around this class, which caused my grade to suffer at the beginning. Overall, a very intelligent professor who knows what he's talking about and learnable.
Awesome guy, 4 quizzes, a paper, and a midterm/final make up your grade. He doesn't take attendance & if you pay attention to the classes you'll pass. I missed maybe 3 days and still got an A. He also brought in donuts for our class during the final so that's an automatic 5. Gonna miss ya basil. (Also don't buy the book I didn't touch it once)
One of the best teachers, I really liked this class. Every week you have one written assignment and quiz, no test or finals. One major assignment is museum visit, where you write about the art work of your choice (only 600 words) and he gives you two weeks. Just submit everything on time and meet the word count. TAKE HIS CLASS, GET AN A!!
The grades for weekly discussions were inconsistent. The weekly quizzes were easy but the midterm and final tests were ridiculous. No study guide whatsoever, just here are 50 random and crazy specific questions from 5+ chapters, good luck finding the answers. It's not a difficult class but it's made more difficult than it needs to be.
Loved having him as a professor! Took him for two semesters and he was so good and knowledgable. He knows his stuff that's for sure. As for assignments, it wasn't too bad as long as you dont do everything in the last minute. Took him for an 8 am class and his bright personality definitely kept me wide awake!
One of the best professors EVER! Absolutely hilarious and engaging lectures made for easy note taking. Quizzes can be a little tricky but if you study + read carefully you're fine. Clearly passionate about the subject, and loves to talk to students deeper about the subjects we're learning.
Professor Moutsatsos will drop your grade by a huge margin if you're a few words below the required word count (even when said assignment doesn't mention any word count when reading the directions.) This is the worst class I've ever taken so far and I'm not sure why people rate her so highly. I took the online course they offer.
being in this glass made be very "THIS I WANT TO DO THIS FOR SCHOOL!!!!" He's so passionate and knowledgeable I wish I could take every class he teaches. I wish I could take them all twice.
LOVED THIS GUY. HE WAS SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE SUBJECT. AND REALLY UNDERSTOOD STUDENT'S WHO HAD A HARD TIME GETTING ASSIGNMENTS IN ON TIME. REALLY ENJOYED THE CLASS. STUDY THE NOTES AND YOU WILL DO GOOD.
I really enjoyed taking humanities class with Professor Moutsatsos and learned a lot. He is a very fair grader when it comes to papers and essays.I would take this class again.
I had a great time in this class! The discussion posts were standard, but I will say beware the quizzes! You have to READ. This is not the class to be googling everything. He did give really good feedback on my essays if they needed sprucing up, and he was really nice! Just do the work and put in the time, and you will get a good grade.
Very clear with instructions. Online class so there was a lot of papers and discussion posts, very interesting modules and gives specific questions to answer so it is not hard to write the papers and get required word count. midterm and final are not proctored. you will need an access code for the quizzes and midterm/final.
Not the best on feedback and didn't really interact all during this summer semester but it seems like he is abroad so this is probably why. Overall easy class and easy A. Would take him again if need be.
Professor Moutsatsos is awesome!! His lectures are so funny and entertaining, and he truly makes the class interesting. Do the work (and do it well), show up for the lectures, and you'll get an A. His tests, however, are pretty detailed, so make sure you study every part of your notes.
He was super easy to work with as far as giving a good excuse for late work or anything. I had a hard time getting my textbook from the bookstore and he provided the next 2 modules online via a PDF for me. Be ready to write a lot, but the due dates are long in between modules so it makes it easier. Good experience overall
I really enjoyed having this professor, he made the lectures fun. We didn't get any assignments (besides the Essay at the end) your grade is made up of tests & quizzes. The tests & quizzes are not easy so you have to study. I got a B because I thought I could get away with just looking over my notes but once I started to study I did better in class
I highly recommend Prof. Moutsatsos for any humanities class! He is a very funny person that makes class very entertaining! While his tests are somewhat difficult, he is there to help you with questions you may have and wants the best for you. Would highly recommend!
Highly recommend Prof. Moutsatsos. Very kind, accessible, and helpful. I remember this class being fairly easy and enjoyable. Physical textbook needed and quite a bit of reading so be prepared for that but overall great class and professor.
Hilarious lectures, he can make learning about shakespear funny which is incredible hard to do but he was able to manage to make most of the class laugh during the section.
He was literally one of the best teachers I've had during my time at SPC. His lectures were amazing and interactive and were ones that you can genuinely look forward to, for me it was easy to want to be on time for his 8am one. It is definitely not an easy an A and you do have to work for it and study extra outside class. May the 4th be with you.
He was hilarious and I have never taken a class like his before, you'll see what I mean when you're in his class for more than 5 minutes. Very easy professor with great exam study guides for tests. He also assigned only one long essay assignment about a work of art. I would recommend him to anyone.
His tests are difficult only because the tests focus on very specific minor details. Besides that his lectures are entertaining. I was always laughing in his class.
Professor Moutsatsos is so awesome, his class is really interesting and well organized. He is very accessible and just a cool guy
Honestly one of my favorite classes of the semester and I'd recommend him. I even found myself enjoying the writing process for my paper. The way he has organized his class makes it very easy to pass too. There are 3 main units each ending with an exam made up of previously taken quizzes. Each exam only has material from that unit. Awesome class!
Great Prof, he really makes lectures fun. make sure to take notes... missing a day of class can you cost you a lot.
I switched to this professor's class after reading good reviews about him and I was not disappointed. The course is easy to follow, and you always know when assignments are due. Usually a short paper and a discussion every other week. His grading feedback is pretty helpful. An easy A if you complete all the assignments.
BEST PROF IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!! He is so funny and made the lectures so interesting. Genuinely cares for his students and you can tell he wants them to learn and do well. Had him for intro to humanities and decided to take him for more classes just so I could hear more of his lectures. I would retake that class a million times if I could
Such a nice professor. I expected to hate humanities but he made this class about as enjoyable as it could possibly be. Incorporates humor into lectures to keep you interested. If you take notes, the tests are super easy. He takes test questions DIRECTLY from what he writes on the board during lectures. Take good notes and it will be an easy class.
TAKE HIM!!! His class genuinely changed my life, such a fantastic professor. Missing lecture will cost you, his tests can be word for word the notes on the board. 4 quizzes 3 tests & 1 paper, keep the quizzes to study! Provided plenty of extra sources for funsies. I wish he could be my professor for every single class. Textbook but never needed it.
An overall great professor, with a great way of connecting to students and getting them involved in the subject matter.
Professor Basil is awesome. Extremely caring, inspirational and a lot of fun. His lectures are really great. I wish we could talk about each of the topics for a couple of weeks, but the class moves very quickly. He is available to answer questions online or in his office. This is the BEST CLASS!!
Great teacher, hard-ish class. The only grades for the class are quizzes, tests, and two essays. You don't need to buy a textbook, as he lectures and you take notes. Makes learning entertaining, and easy to follow. The class is easy if you study, hard if you don't. The tests have some trick questions in it which is annoying though.
My favorite class this semester! He has an amazing sense of humor and his lectures are awesome. His lectures are very clear and the tests reflect them 100%. As long as you take ALL notes you will do good on tests/exams. He is probably the realest professor on the Tarpon campus, if you get a chance take him!
8 essays, 7 quizzes, 8 study activities, 7 discussions, midterm, and final. Purchased textbook through Pearson for an extended time which is needed for essays. Follow all requirements and the rubric, you should do well on essays and discussions. Pay attention to quizzes and study activities, they'll help with the midterm and final. No late work.
Absolutely amazing class. Every lecture was engaging and funny, and his quizzes are a breeze if you study. The class consists of him writing notes on the board, you write down those notes, and then get quizzed on them. Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll definitely need to get the notes from someone if you miss a class.
This class was absolutely amazing. He definitely knows how to make the lectures interesting, and his test and exams are easy as long as you study. Take this professor!
Basil's HUM1020 class is a blast! His lectures are engaging and entertaining, and if you take good notes, the tests are a breeze. I found unstuck study super helpful for quiz prep - definitely gave me a boost.
Moutsatsos is a great teacher, he knows his stuff. However, his tests are pretty difficult. You MUST attend lecture, every assignment and test you do will be based off of it. Unless you're taking this class out of interest, it will be quite boring. Good guy and good teacher, though. Not hard to get an A if you study + attend lecture consistently.
Amazing teacher. He's passionate about the topics he teaches, and he makes the lectures interesting and enjoyable. If you simply attend every class and write down what he writes, you'll be able to pass. If you have the option, I would recommend this professor, probably the best class I've ever had.
Professor Moutsatsos is a great professor! He is a very passionate professor! Make sure you attend class and take notes!!! Those will be a big part in how you will pass the class. If you're like me and like to have notes ahead of time so you have more structure for your notes, this might not be for you. Overall, great professor, and VERY funny!
Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. You could walk into his class and not take any notes and still retain the entire lecture and pass. His passion for humanities makes each class interesting and fun. He is funny, smart, and really cares about students getting a quality education. If you pay attention, you will pass.
Professor only had 4 quizzes, one long essay, one midterm, one final.
He takes forever to grade, leaves no feedback, & both the midterm and final are 80 question quizzes with multiple correct answers for each question. There's also two small quizzes per module. I know it's an online course, but there is absolutely zero instruction or communication. He takes forever to respond to emails and doesn't offer extra credit.
Great professor, really interesting! He can make some odd remarks but its usually to get people's attention during lectures (theyre still related to the content). He does not give you any assignments other than quizzes, 2 exams, 1 essay. I liked the no busy work, but I had to study the notes extra hard. Everything is covered in lectures, dont skip!
I took this class during Fall 2024. To be fair, the professor is a nice guy. That said, he would include inaccurate info. Beware of MANY TESTS. If you're personally interested in the material, then you'll probably enjoy his enthusiasm, but he procrastinates a lot with that research paper at the end.
Moutsatsos is absolutely hilarious. He does a great job with giving us notes that we need for quizzes without including unimportant details. I always enjoy his lectures and feel little to no anxiety going into quizzes. Definitely would take his course again.
Literally the best professor I have ever had! I took three humanities classes from him and enjoyed every single one. The classes are very lecture based but he makes the information super clear and explains everything that will be on the exam and quizzes. If you study and pay attention in class you will have an A. He is passionate on what he teaches
