friendly disposition but he does not know how to teach. no in class work or homework and he is very unclear when lecturing. always felt unprepared for test because never had any real practice finding solutions before hand. on the plus side there is a large curve on test avg 15pts+
I took chemistry only b/c it was required, but by the end of the semester I loved it. I would take him again. He loves this subject and it is a treat to learn from a prof who enjoy what he does. He always encourages questions, offers some extra credit, curves tests, and he makes class fun.

he doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. his lectures are so boring that everybody in the class was sleeping literally.......his exam questions are completely messed up. if u give the right answer according to the book it is wrong according to him and if u show him the book he says there is nothing that can be done. don't ever take him.
He has a genuine interest and knowledge of chemistry, but he doesn't quite know how to get it across. He has a very thick accent which sometimes makes him difficult to understand, but you can get used to it.
He's a decent teacher..i got an A suckas!
Steer clear of this guy. I understood absolutely everything in the book, but nearly failed because I got my answers a slightly different way than he did. If he tells you at the beginning that this is okay, don't believe him.
If you talk with him one on one during his office hours, its very helpful. However, sitting through one of his classes is TERRIBLE. I can't tell you how many times I have accidentally fallen asleep because he doesn't go into depth about important things. If he tries, the accent is too thick and there are communication style differences.
He is from the middle east and has a bad accent. He does not answer questions and give u handouts but the notes are from the previous chapters. Unorganized and does not uderstand english very well.
I loved Dr. Atilli. He was a good instructor. You need to realize this is COLLEGE. Profs will not, and should not, be easy. Don't expect every prof to give you notes...get real and grow up. If you try in this class, you will do great. Don't blame a person's accent for your failure.
Puts powerpoints online. Sitting through his lectures is like torture. I thought that he did not explain things well or clearly. His tests are extreamly hard, not like I thought this class was going to be easy, but good lord.
I like Dr. Attil, nice and smart professor. He know what he's doing, never gives question on the test that he didnt cover. And for those who did bad, is because they dont go to lecture, and if you don't, you might not succeed, but very generous, he gave 18 extra point on one test, and always gives extra points if average is low.
He is actually a genuis but I think he would rather be a scientist than a teacher. His class's materials was extremely hard and so were his tests. He has a really high standards over his students and this made me a little bit of scared. But really, in his class, if u try your best, u have all.
Hard class and hard tests. You REALLY have to pay attention, go to every class, read the lecture notes, read the book, and study hard if you want to pass this class. He is very generous with grades and wants his students to suceed and learn. Good teacher.
Dr. Attili is an awesome professor. He is very helpful. Always available during office hours and after class. He actually knows what he is doing. He is an easy grader. Even though is exams are challenging, but he certainly prepares you for the final exam (ACS exam). He is an excellent teacher.
He is the only chem teacher I know of on SCC that curves test grades, (just some, not all). However, he gave me the impression that he will not be doing that as much anymore. His lectures were not very helpful. He doesn't review for his tests. If you have him for lab, there are no quizzes and he is easy on grading the lab reports.
Had him for lab and overall pleased about it. If I would have him for lecture that would be a different story. Sometimes hard to understand. Show some effort and he will work with you, maybe
this guy really knows his stuff, but his tests are unessarily hard. He thinks they are easy, but they are not! I know that he curves a lot at the end of the semester. Most of my class is not passing, but no one has dropped because of the huge curve at the end of the semester. People have F's and have heard the will get a "C".

this teacher is very knowledgeable in chemistry and will help you outside of class. he usually curves most of the tests. but this dipshit would not bump me but from a 69 to a C, so i have a D and have to take it again. his tests are very hard and you must study
He does not teach you what is on the tests
He is a nice man but a bad teacher. He cannot explain things clearly and his tests are not just hard they are unfair. He puts things on the test that he never went over in class. Then he curves so much that everyone gets a B!! I studied really hard but got the same grade as people with much, much lower scores. Almost no one gets an A. Avoid hi
Yes, he has an accent, but anyone who says they can't understand him is simply xenophobic. He comes across as imperious at times, but may simply be his heritage. His exams are difficult, but if you're having trouble he is more than willing to help in his office. Genuinely cares about students and wants them to understand and like chemistry. I p
He was Too hard to understand. He tries but you can't understand him. If you feel like teaching yourself chemisty from a book just go ahead and take it online. His is useless as far as class room lecture. His test were fair, but difficult. My class had a 88% failure rate on the 2nd exam. Avoid at all costs!!!
HIS TEST IS HRD AND HE DOES NOT HAVE A STANDARD WAY OF GRADING. EXTREA CREDIT? YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT IT...ABOUT 3/4 OF HIS CLASS DROPPED BY THE DROP DATE. SO BE WARN.

Good Class. I learned a lot.
I am having a great time.
He is thorough and explains things well. I am fine with the class so far.
He is a very knowledgeable professor, and he really makes you work for your grade. If you try to ask about something during class that he doesn't want to talk about, he's a little rude. In my opinion, his class is not one for people without a good foundation in chemistry. His tests are hard, but he is more than willing to work with you.
Challenging but extremly good prof. He makes you learn and I learned a lot from him.
Excellent professor. I recommend him if you are welling to learn.
Hard subject, Excellent Teacher, funny, and very helpful. I enjoyed the class.
Well organized, explain subject, work problems, and provide a copy of notes. The subject requires a lot of work and problem solving. I am strugling but really loving the class.
Be carefull, Lots of work. Chemistry is not my favorate. But I am doing fine and learning a lot.
is always there when you need help
Instructor is very helpful. Subject requires lots of work. He gives extra credit work and encourages you to visit his office. I like his sense of humor.
Get ready to study!!! This class is not a joke, the tests are challenging, but he does give extra credit. Try to take him for lecture, do not take him for lab. Good sense of humor, but sometimes talks down to students, making them not want to ask questions ever again.
If you do not read the text you will fall asleep during lecture, they are quick paced and 2/3 from the text, First test is easy A, second test you will fail, rest are A's if and only if you read the text, he gives SO MANY EXTRA POINTS its very hard to fail. Lab is a boot camp at first, stay in class you will pass, read text and you will get an A
This course requires reading the chapter and solving problems. Without that you will not be able to pass. At the same time he was there for us and does all what it takes to help. I am happy that I took chemistry with him.
Reading the chapter and doing problems helped me a lot. He is extremely helpful and explain things well. I like his powe pints and the examples he uses. He is into it. I will try to take him again.
He is very thorough. Great sense of humor! I recommend him!! He is always there if you need him, but you wont, he is that thorough.
Fast Paced Class. He liked to joke a lot. Gives tons of extra info that you won't need on the tests. He is always ready to help out and Tutor you until you really understand the topic. Grat office hours. Strong accent but clear enough to understand. Lots of extra Points so it's hard to fail even if you do bad on the tests.
I am an Honor student, and have a large amount of experience at CCCCD, as well as a 4year university. THIS IS THE WORST teacher i have EVER come across. I have had some unsatisfactory experiences before, however i do not like to make negative comments. BUT this time i feel obligated to spare others the pain of this class teacher.
There was 30...and then there was 10...and then there was many C grades out of those 10. Speaks for itself.
Funny dude. Contrary to other comments, he's a great prof. I took him for both Chem 1411 and 1412. He's extremly helpful, but you do have to work very hard to succeed. Book reading is a must.
He kept us busy all the time. He always give another chance. I really liked that. the class was fun but some students were very rude to him. Overall he is a great instructor.
the worst instructor. Do not take his class. Take my word
He is funny, smart and tests are predictable and easy if you know what he has taught in his lectures. He does not want to go out of his way to help students and he gets upset easily. My advice is to go to class, try to learn from his lecture. Dont upset him, and don't read the book--its useless.
He is very difficult to learn from. There is no structure to his teaching. Very little material is covered in class, we were always a week behind the labs which made those even harder. Anyone who did well in the class had it recently in high school or were in like 2 classes and had a ridiculous amount of time to study to compensate.
Attili teaches straight from the book with powerpoint slides. If you don't find this method of teaching useful, don't take his class. He enjoys teaching chemistry and wants to make sure everyone understands the material. He may come off as daunting, but if you act confident he'll help you. His labs aren't hard, and his humor keeps lectures light.
He's always there to help you at anytime. If you attend his lectures and recitations, he'll give you important concepts and then you need to practice problems from the book, you will get an A definitely.None of the chemistry classes are easy so you need to learn, practice problems and ask questions to him. He's great professor & motivates to do your be
Professor Attili is extremely helpful, responds to your email very quickly and always inspires you to do your best. He gives you ideas and wants his students to practice calculations as well as to ask questions.Go to his lectures, attend recitations, solve book problems,go to his office for any lab or lecture questions, then you will get good grade
I had him for both 1411 and 1412. He is great and helpful. I would not take any other prof. I wish he teaches Organic.
I liked the way he teaches. I had him a year or more a go. He encouraged me and helped me do real well. I was going to drop but I made it.
Lots of information and lots of work but going great. I like the way he teaches. He gives extra credit. i am happy
Professor really knows chemistry, although i feel he doesn't do well at making it clear to most student. Class is VERY hard and fast paced. I would advice reading the chapters in the book before attending. I do not prefer his teaching style and wish he made some powerpoints available to refer to. NEEDS a website/blackboard!
He is okay, just strict and not easy on grading. Be careful studying with him!
HORRIBLE TEACHER! dont take him if you can take another teacher. no help, doesnt teach well, and always send you to the book when you have a question. avoid him at all cost!
I had him last semester and he is terrible at explaining things ,gives out homework and never passes them back. When you ask him a question he responds back as if you already know the answer and puts up problems on the board and never properly explains them. Taking his class would rely heavily on your book and classmates to help not him
Hard subject, not easy instructor but good inexplaining things and good in grading. Gives examp make up work.
Great teacher, learned alot, worked hard for my grade. Working in groups during recitation helpd me alot. Thanks Dr Atili
I personally like his teaching style. He has an accent, but it is completely understandable. However, he is very degrading to his students, and takes questions very negatively. He is also a very difficult grader and gives no extra credit. He does offer examples, though. And I personally don't mind his rudeness because he can teach me.
Come on ------. Thats not nice. I did not think you would do that after our discution. He gave us an open book extra cridit twice so far. I am not doing as good as you are but I am satisfied. Lots of work and lots of material.
Great class. I enjoyed it and learned a lot. Lots of work, handouts and homework. He givesopen book test makeup for extra credit. He was very helpful in office hours.
Attendance is not mandatory and he does not take it. He doesn't like to answer questions he feels he has already covered so I never asked a question. Even during a review period he asked for questions and told students, "I don't want to answer that." Not my favorite professor but he knows chemistry.
Great lecture. Lots of information and lots of work. I enjoyed it very much.
It was a challenging course. Requires lots of work. I enjoyed it and learned a lot. I remember what the other person is saying when he said that he does not like to answer the question. That student wanted him to discuss a topic, come up whith a question and work it out. He told us bring written questions because it was a Q and A session.
Dr. Attilli was by far the best science teacher i've ever had. He may be harsh and difficult but in the end he is just looking out for you. Dr. Attilli values education so if you plan on coming into this class doing the bare minimum would not recommend him. Just pay some other teacher to not learn the material.
he allows you to correct you test and gives you some points back, at the first test. comparing with other professors, he is good at teaching. the question is he doesn't want to compromise, either his way or no way.if you miss the deadline, you will get a zero in homework.wanna a easy grade, do choose him. wanna to learn, he is a good choice.
Really knows his chemistry. I am a 3.5gpa student. The two bits of advice I can give is to either not take the course or be overly prepared. At first I did not give my 100% but later on I constantly studied and payed God knows how much money I spent on private tutors and I still made a 55 on the next test. Powerpoint slides are not consistant.
Very hard grader. you'll regret if you take his class. Tests are extremely hard. He is not a helpful professor.
He is a grate teacher. The course is demanding and he expect you to know general chem 1. He is very helpful at all times. I recommend him if you wanted to learn chemistry.
The greatest instructor ever. Very challenging very informative lots of work but learned a lot. I rcommend him to all but be ready to spend sometime to study. Very very helpful instructor.
It was not an easy class but it was interesting. He always asnwered my questions. It is not really nice to bash the instructor if you fail his class. He is strict and does what he says and expect you to do waht he asked you to do. I am not taking 1412 except with him. I like his style in going in depth and I also like his since of humer.
He is not an easy professor, but he is incredibly knowledgeable as he is helpful. I highly recommend him if you want to learn.
Took this professor at TCC. It was his first semester teaching there & most students in my class were unhappy. Some exams were multiple choice others were not. Very inconsistent. Makes you feel stupid if you ask any questions. Had a death in my family on exam day & reached out to him & he was unsympathetic & did not work with me at all.
Professor Attili left Collin college many years back. It is unfortunate that rate my professor accepted the rating without investigation.
I took the course sometime ago. Dr Basam taught me how to study and my grades went well. I learned a lot from him. I stayed in touch with for sometime until he left Collin College in 2013. I appreciate him very much
I enjoyed the class. With professor Attili's encouragement, I built confedence and I pulled an A. I never thought I would do that. I recommend taking him but you need to be ready to study hard.
The professor was great. The course was online and he spent almost have of the lab explaining topics. I was not ready to take a 2 month chemistry course without any background. He answered any question and helpful. I recommend taking him in person lecture and lab. He is knowledgeable and a good teacher
