Prof. Biernacka got me to enjoy science, and I learnt so many things! If I ever do choose to take a science course, I would for sure take one with Prof. Biernacka!

I absolutely LOVE this woman. Knowledgeable, thorough, and displays enthusiasm for her subject, enough to keep me interested myself. Great power points, uses the board to clarify certain things with extra notes or illustrations so skipping class is a no-no if you don't want to miss details. She really cares about first year students. She has excellent slides, and you MUST attend class because she emphasizes on the stuff important for the exam. She was a great and helpful Prof! She kept the lectures interesting and condensed the material for us to learn. For the exams, we could either read the textbook or her notes, which was great, because reading the notes/Powerpoints was much easier to study and therefore not needing additional info to learn!

Posts all lecture notes online and they are very thorough, only opened my text book for practice questions(HIGHLY recommended, she pulls questions from back of book for tests). Wonderful first year prof! If you have any questions she will answer them clearly and insightfully. You can tell she loves her job because her lectures are AMAZING, she makes them interesting and even cracks a couple jokes sometimes. She's VERY organized and if you attend lectures she basically tells you EXACTLY what's on exams and midterms.

Basic class - full of students, yet Beata engages the class with witticisms and fun teaching style. She understands when things are boring and does her best to make them interesting and make it quick. Definitely attend class BEFORE buying the overpriced text book. You may not ever need it.

Amazing prof. Anyone taking first year bio should not hesitate to take it with Beata. There is lots of material to learn for the exams but she is good about specifying what will be more important to study and what you shouldn't waste your time on. Attendance to lectures is not mandatory since she posts notes online, but it for sure helps.

I only had Biernacka for the BIOL1115 lab portion of the course but she was fantastic!! She gave amazing lectures and walked us through the lab thoroughly, she welcomed questions and was always there to clarify. I wish I had taken the lecture component as well. Take courses with her she is AWESOME!

She is one of the better bio profs I have come across at U of W. She explains material very in-depth in lecture to ensure everyone understands. Tests were fairly easy if studied for, and she gave a clear layout of exams beforehand. Lectures were a little dry and could be hard to sit through at times.

I appreciate that she is organized and is very thorough in during her lectures. Always reviews/explains things multiple times in a lecture. Though the class is super long, I rather enjoy attending her lectures. My grade has improved drastically compared to the other approach of another prof.

Definitely one of the best profs at UofW. Organized, clearly states what's on the exam, great lecture notes, knows the material really well, and very helpful. Quizzes & exams were good - as long as you studied the material and paid attention to any hints that she provided. I highly recommend her! Don't buy the lecture textbook - just the atlas!

Overal she was a good prof, the lectures were heavy as she covered over 50 slides per class, the test was also really heavy and long. u need to go to her classes to get a good grade as if u miss one class there might be many stuff that she covers that you will miss out on. her classes were kind of boring but she tried to make them interesting

I loved Dr Biernacka. She was so organised and made slides available for print/review. That being said, interpretation of the material can rely on being in class. I loved her lectures, she explained the material so well. I am a good student, and I enjoy bio so I got an A, but I know that a lot of my performance was due to good teaching.

She is one of the bets profs at u of w. She is clear, organized, and keeps the lectures super interesting. Lectures fly by and even though the course is a bit material heavy she makes it feel easy. Really great online notes and often says things in class that help you memorize the material. Don't need the textbook, just the alas.

The class is difficult due to the material content but biernaka was absolutely amazing. She was always very clear & precise during lectures and made it obvious what was important to know & what wasn't. There is a lot of material to cover but as long as you give yourself time to study you should do well. She was very accessible outside of class and was good at making material memorable and clear. Dr. Biernacka is very friendly, open to talking to students, and responds quickly to email (other profs take note!). She also does a good job of keeping lectures interesting and explaining the material clearly. The class isn't too hard, but there is lots of specific terminology to memorize so be prepared to study.

Volume of course content is very heavy but she is clear about this from day 1. Don't buy the text, just the Atlas. Midterm (30%) and final (50%) are station-to-station exams. Remaining 20% is from in-class tests about projected images from the PowerPoints and Atlas. Her expectations for tests and exams are clear. Very nice woman, clear lectures.

Shes a great prof. Super clear on what you need to study and what will be on the exam. She knows lots about exam and lab schedules especially since she is the head of the biology department. The slide she posts online are really all you have to know since there is so much information on them. She goes through slides quickly in lectures.

she always says "very important for the purpose of the exam" which is great because you know what to highlight. she gives lots of external links for you to look at if you need additional support with the material which is a rare find in a teacher!

Dr. Biernacka provided top quality instruction for online lectures & labs. She was accessible for office hours and helped me and other students every time we came by. Exams and quizzes were fair. Histology is a tough course and a lot of pre-med students take it so don't expect it to be easy, wait until your 3rd year. But highly recommend!

Very helpful

Took an Asynchronous class of hers. She was always accessible by email. Longest I've had to wait for a response was like an hour. She talks very slow in lectures to make sure you understand everything but being pre-recorded that just meant I sped up lectures I understood. As a nonscience major I can say that concepts in science is an amazing class.

I love how Dr. Biernacka teaches. She is incredibly clear about what is and isn't important and amazing at answering questions. I took her in person classes, you definitely don't want to miss her lectures she is very good at explaining complicated processes. Wish she taught all of my classes!

I took her BIOL-1005 asynchronous class. She is very clear when teaching. She lets you know what's important and what you should know for the exams. She is very nice and is accessible outside of class. You can buy the textbook, but she gives you "lecture notes" so the textbook is basically useless. Overall, I love her & she's the best prof ever!!!

Great professor. Very intelligent and interesting lectures. Exams were difficult and extremely detailed. The ammount of content your supposed to know for this class is absolutely ridiculous though. If you don't remember every minute detail for every specific function you will not get an A.

Very knowledgeable and cares about getting through all the required material. If she doesn't (like she did this year with cell signalling), she doesn't put it on the exam. Because this course is so content-heavy, you do NOT want to miss class! She speeds through topics to get through everything so be prepared to take notes like LIGHTNING.

Much like her intro biology courses, she is very organized and clear on what is being tested/what she expects. Content itself is not difficult but it is A LOT of material that surprisingly is easy to memorize. If you want to succeed watch the extra videos she posts! All in all is a great prof!

An amazing prof, I recommend showing up to every lecture b/c 99% of class content is on the exams. If you are a BIO major, I recommend reading the textbook to expand your knowledge on certain concepts, b/c lectures can be very "brief" on a couple of topics. PowerPoints were very good. Read the textbook and watch the videos she provides for more help. She explained things well and was always available after class if you had any questions. Responds quick to emails. Make sure to listen to any extra side notes of info she says during lecture or anything she emphasizes a lot, because it will be tested on.

She's an incredibly knowledgeable professor, and her enthusiasm for physics is truly inspiring! Even though it was an online course, every one of her lectures was fun to watch. I dedicated extensive hours to preparing for the test, but it was very difficult and had many tricky questions! I recommend taking her course! but be ready to study a lot

Her lectures are amazing, her portion of the class is graded by only a midterm and final but both have bonus questions. Similarly to her other classes, her exams are much harder than you'd expect.

They provided written summaries in lou of buying a textbook. They also circled information to study for the exam on their slides during lectures & reposted them on nexus.

Biernacka was a phenomenal prof for BIOL-1115. Lectures are very fast-paced, and make sure to attend every lecture because she will give clear hints about EXACTLY what will be asked on the exam. Biernacka is a good prof, she knows what she is talking about and tries not to make lecture boring. However, she kind of skims material, and goes through slides very fast, probably because there is SO MUCH CONTENT. You will have to memorize the majority of the material.
