The WORST teachers I have ever had in my life. Over half of my class has dropped the class. She CANT teach, cant speak well, gets nervous around her students, has extremely difficult tests that have material on them that she hasn't taught and its basically impossible to pass, DO NOT TAKE COLLEGE ALGEBRA WITH HER!!
Tests are so hard! If you are not good are math, be prepared to fail! Nice lady, but that doesn't help you pass! The first test, I failed even though I took notes in class. The second test, I failed even though I THOROUGHLY studied on my own. Think of taking someone else for this class!!!

Nice teacher, you almost feel bad for her, but defintely does not know how to clearly express herself or much less teach math! Half way through the course you end up feeling that you know more than she does. If you're having trouble, you're better off asking another professor, b/c u can't understand her!! DO NOT TAKE COLLEGE ALGEBRA WITH HER!
Terrible Teacher. Can't speak english. Can't draw a circle. Tests are hard. Jumps from step to step.First day of class I was 5 minutes late, and she was already writing note on the board. Stay Away.
This woman cannot teach to save her life. She will not do a thing to help any student. She's one of those teachers that teach to get paid and nothing more. No enforcement to what is taught in class. There are 4 tests in total. that is all your grade is besed on. If youre not real good in math or ready to learn n your own DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!
SHE SUCKS. END OF STORY.
On the first day of class, peopl had to sit on the floor because the class was so full- a month later there are 10 people left. She's terrible at explaining math, she gets a lot of the questions she tries to teach wrong, and seems intimidated by her students more than anything. The first test, I knew no one with a grade better than 65.
Easy class. If you need help during a test just ask, she will practically give you the answer. It's not hard, especially if you do homework(not required), it's like a study guide. Most of it is what we learned in high school. She is nice and has office hours.
I feel bad for her because she seems like a nice person but her teaching skills are horrible. She does not know how to explain and often does problems wrong. Her test are in the write out format and they are difficult. Shes awful at speaking english and speaks in a low voice.
Very nice lady, if you do not understand she will go out of her way to explain. Gives partial credit on tests, also gives awesome reviews before test. I recommend herwith no reservations
she's ok and ye does have an accent but she does help th student and her reviews are pretty good the only thing i don't like is that she doesn't give extra credit. and about dropping almost everyone drops coll alg because people think that is the same as hgh school and that they can get a good grade without studying.
She's a nice lady, but as others have said, her teaching methods aren't the best because she seems a bit insecure about herself, so she mumbles a lot, and sometimes gets lost. She does help anyone with any problems, and her tests are easy if you do the h.w.
The prof. was very easy going and went straight from the book, but was accused of giving easy tests so she has had to make them harder!! As long as you do all the homework you'lll be fine,BUT THERE IS A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK ASSIGNED!!!
She is an awesome prof. She is one of those professor that goes out of her ways to help you. I passed her class with an A. If there is any question you could definetely approach her and she is there for you. She explains the material throughly.
She's a very nice lady, it's very easy to approach her. You can't always understand her but if you do the homework and ask questions it should all work out for you. The homework is a real insight on what the exams will be like.
She is very helpful and does not mind staying after class to answer questions and will return emails quickly. The first three exams were easy(if you JUST do the HW) the final was tough. If you do well on your first three test you should not have a problem. TAKE HER
she does not know what she is talking about! she says she is going to help you but she doesn't! don't take her, i guarantee you'll regret it.
she is a very nice prof. who is willing to help students after class. her tests are not that hard. her class does require studying as does any math class, but i'd recommend her over any other math prof. i've taken. do good on the first 3 tests just in case u mess up the final (cummulative).Ask questions if ur lost & do HW it helps.
There arent many good math profs at FIU appearently, shes mediocre... very nice, but boring, I never went to class and still passed, but I reccomend you go to class and study.
I had her for summer A and I thought that she was great. You should just do the h.w. from the book if you want to do well on her class. I slacked off a bit in the end and got an A-, but an A is definitely possible.
It makes me mad how some ppl make fun of this lady's accent. It has nothing to do with her teaching abilities. She is a great professor and person. She goes out of her way to help you and WANTS you to pass. Her class is easy if you just pay attention and practice. Your grade will be composed of five exams and cumulative departamental final.
Yes, she does have an accent, but if you actually go to class and have just half a brain, you will pass this class. Absolutely ridiculous that she teaches you the material, gives you homework problems AND gives a review and people still complain! Get over it. It's not the prof's fault you have no discipline. She's readily available if you need help
She talks to the board not to the students. Class is incredibly boring. She is not a good teacher. If you take it make sure you go to every class and do all the HW. Her review classes suck, and does not give study guides.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! YOU MIGHT AS WELL TEACH YOURSELF!
She sucks!! I took her b/c there was nothing else available, only we had 5 test no extra credit or quizzes, she is so boring and by the time the class is over u want to commit suicide, very disorganize and doesn't explain good, jumps from one thing to another without explaining, if u know math this is the class 4 u if u suck don't take her.
I can't stress enough how horrible this teacher is. She asks the students what the answer is and then says ok once a student has given it with the answer being wrong. She's the worst teacher, besides the fact that she writes everything in light green marker, the people in the back can't see anything. DON'T take her unless your a G in math and can y
Does not know how to teach. Cant even understand what she says and jumps from problem to problem without finishing them
She neeed to talk loud and become more clear. She stumble and make several mistakes during lecture. Waits until the day before the test to post review. There's gotta be better mat teacher at Fiu!?!? I DONT KNOW IVE HAD ALL THE WORSE ONES!!
This woman cannot teach math if her life depended on it. She basically jumps from one thing to another without checking for mistakes. She doesnt even give a decent test review and the tests are so freaking hard!! I literally felt like burning my textbook. So do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY FROM THIS WOMAN!!
She cant speak english, smiles when she completes a problem, impossible to understand, if you take her ur gonna have to teah urself avoid at all costs!!!
Very good and nice teacher. She is extremely helpful, and is willing to help students after class, as well as before. She has many office hours and also replies to e-mails quickly. Tests can be hard but if you do the homework and ask her about any issues you will be fine. Those who complain about her accent or anything else in her College Algeb
Prof. Casis is nice...but she cannot teach. She explains things very poorly and her tests are NOT at all fair. Especially if you take her on a 50 minute time slot. She throws a lot of curve balls on her tests. I studied my head off for weeks...and still got bad grades on her tests. I would NOT recommend her at all.
She is a very nice teacher. In oder to do good in class you need to read the book and keep up with the lectures. You will definately pass the college algebre if you attend every class and pay attention. She is very nice and very helpful, i would recommend her
she isn't a good teahcer but it is an easy class. u learn very little in class and she teaches straight from the book so attendance is optional. tests r easy n she grades with lots of partial credit. she is very nice n will help u in and out of class. cons--> doesnt drop a grade, sumtimes has no clue how to solve a problem...
this teacher is horrible. take the class at miami dade as a transient student. FIU is trying to make a name for themselves and i guess failing everyone and having horrible teachers like this one is the trick.
The class is really easy. She's hard to understand sometimes though becasue she has a very strong accent. Just go to class, dont mind her teaching, take notes and do your homework, and you'll be fine.
Professor Cassis has an accent but it doesn't really bother because she explains everything very slowly and carefully. Do the practice homework she assigned(not required to turn in) and clarify anything that's not clear then you'll be fine.
Her tests are not easy but she gives you extra time to finish them if you need it. If you do the problems in the book and look at her practice exams, you should make a decent grade.
Honestly if you learned Algebra2 well in HS or if you are good in math this class should be easy for you. She is easy to understand, but she never speaks loud. My advice: study the examples in the book, do HW, and ask her any doubts BEFORE THE TEST, don't wait until her practice tests to do those! Her tests are not hard, but you MUST know the stuff!
this teacher can put u to sleep... she's slow and really boring and her accent does not help because at times she wants to clarify something and she will confuse you unstead. but if u r good in math u should be ok.
Most of the people complaining are Mac 1105 students, which means freshman generally. She does care about her students, and will help her students out of class. Two things that bothered me the most was that she taught extremely slow and boring.
this class is not easy if you want a book to help you out get business calculus demistifyed it helped me. The text book suck. Prof Cassis tries but her accent sometimes makes it rough. She will answer all questions with the homework and any misunderstandings. She says she does not curve but she grades very generously
Professor Cassis is an ok Professor, she know her material, plus she give out review sheets and go over it in class, I would recommend her. She does have an accent.
Everyone I got a D on the first test, another D on the last test a C on the last test and a B on the final exam and I passed the class with a B! Take this woman if you want a major curve!
She is a great professor, and the class is extremely easy. Study and go to class and it will be an easy A.
The class is pretty easy. Her homeworks are a must do if you want to do good on her tests. Her tests are a only a few questions so make sure you know the material. She is really boring but if you are good at math it should be a piece of cake
Not a great professor but she is very helpful with final grade. Plus her grading is extremely easy, she has an accent too, overall she's alright, not great but she's not terrible either.
This professor is completely unorganized. She teaches way too quickly and if you have a question she doesn't really know how to answer it with a straight forward answer. Her tests are very hard and her reviews are barely helpful. Another thing that bothered me is that she is always late to class.
Her accent is a problem from time to time, and she provides poor answers to questions while making a bewildered face but shes understanding and will open up the homework for you to do online if you get behind or just blow it off like i did.
didn't really do much of the learning in class, basically passed it thanks to all the homework. honestly i zoned out because the teaching was very monotone. she was extremely lenient on the grading tho, helped me out a lot
She's a nice teacher but I didn't understand what she was saying and the class is very boring. If you want to have an A in the class, you have to study in your own and do Math lab every day it will help you.
easy. slow at teaching and boring because english isn't her first language, but understandable. As someone from Miami, she's easy to understand..
shes really nice and she knows her stuff but she isnt all that great in teaching it. if youre really good at math and you like a challenge take her. if not, i wouldnt recommend. i passed only because i has prior knowledge in the subject
She's very kind but her teaching method does not really incite interest or help you understand. Basically it is a math lecture. She will try to show you however best she can but at the end of the day mathlab is what gets you through the class.
Her teaching is rough at best. She speaks very slow and her accent is difficult to understand so class is boring. 4 tests and a final. Homework for each section due each week. Sometimes she'll extend the date for them. Her tests are really hard. She says attendance is mandatory but only makes you sign in once in a while. I would not take her again.
She is nice but her teaching skills are not great. Her accent makes this class not easy and the test are not too hard if you know math. Her classes are boring. If you want to pass this class take another teacher.
Her accent can be hard if you aren't use to it. She is a good teacher though, and knows her stuff. You just have to be willing to put in the work. She is also always there if help is needed.
She has a very thick accent, would not recommend taking this class unless you really have to! She doesn't cover everything that appears on the departmental exam, so be sure to study hard for that test.
She is a very sweet lady but she does not teach at all. She has a strong accent and she talk very soft. Please do not take her if you want to pass trig. Avoid!!!!
Very boooooring teacher, at times it feels very depressing to be there as she's talking in such a monotone voice and there's barely anybody in class. However she is a very lenient grader and a good teacher when it comes to the material.
She is not as bad as everyone makes her seem. As long as you do the homework and go to class you should have no problem getting an A. Not the most exciting class but no math class in FIU is.
Prof. Cassis is not a bad teacher at all, the class material is just difficult. Anyone that dedicates enough time to study and do all the homework should pass with no problem. 3 tests, a cumulative final and homework is worth 15% of your whole grade. I recommend taking her. She's probably the best math teacher at FIU that you can get.
A very tough class with a terrible teacher. she is nice and does her best to help but none of the lecture fits the hw or quizes. speaking of hw get ready for quizes and tests everyday
Cassis is a very nice lady, but she does have an accent and can talk kind of quiet at times, so sit near the front. The material will be easy if you attend every class and really pay attention. If not, you might have a harder time. Homework due every few weeks on mymathlabs, but she is very lenient and understanding if you need to turn it in late.
I have always been good at math and loved it. I thought trig would be no problem at all but this teacher made it impossible. Very hard to understand her. She's a great person but made it so difficult to understand the material. Only able to pass with previous knowledge from other math classes with other teachers.
She gives 3 homework a week. I can't sit a whole class without sleeping and she never answers your questions directly. Worst of all she doesn't allow calculators on the tests, which I wouldn't mind, but the numbers are just ridiculous. I basically taught myself this whole course but it's still an easy A if you do all the homework.
Professor Cassis is a very sweet person and is there for you when you need the help. I would recommend for those who choose to take her class to review the lectures you will be going over the night before the actual class and get extra help offered by the school because her lectures are long and have a tendency to get confusing.
Professor Cassis is an extremely nice lady. She knows her stuff really well. She teaches at a slow pace that you can comprehend, some math professors go way too fast. She will go over multiple examples of different problems in class. Her reviews help out a lot too. She has a noticeable Spanish accent, but most will easily understand it.
This professor is really nice and sweet. But oh man, she cannot teach. Lectures are extremely boring, she sometimes stumbles on her words and makes it hard to understand her. The homework is online so it's super easy, but the class is boring, and she makes it worse. A lot of the tests were not multiple choice, so go figure.
She's a very sweet old lady, but she does not know how to teach. Should retire.
Professor cassis is really nice and very easy. The tests are very easy and she teaches you exactly what you need to know. She knows her things very well.
A lot of online homework, some offline homework. Class attendance isn't mandatory unless you have to hand in HW or take a test. She's not very clear but what she puts up on the board is enough to introduce students to the material. Practice outside of class and the tests should be at least manageable - Problems are worth a lot of points.
Nice teacher but does have an accent than can be hard to understand. Doesn't review for tests and is always getting numbers confused which makes it very confusing if you are just learning the material. Slooow class which makes you want to sleep.
4 tests and one final which are not that hard just attend to class and you will be fine. When taking tests GO UP TO HER she is so helpful and tries to tell you as much as she can. HW only in mylabsplus and optional reviews which are very helpful.
Slow. Tough to reach outside of class. Sporadic with posting reviews for tests on blackboard which makes no sense.
If math isn't your strong suit, don't take this class with this teacher. During lectures, she skips a lot of steps on how to arrive to the correct answer. Even when you ask her to explain her methods, she's bad at clarifying. Her English is very hard to understand as well. Overall, she knows her stuff but is not good at teaching the subject.
As long as you read the text book and go to class then this class will be very easy. Also, she doesn't want any of her students to fail so she does things like extending homework deadlines, giving formula sheets and helping you out during tests. She is really a nice lady.
She goes through problems in class, she's difficult to understand.. and she really is not a good teacher. I have to retake this class. It is easy.. but you have to do all the homework, she does partial credit but make sure you understand the material. Would not recommend her if math is not your strong suit. You might need someone more involved.
This teacher doesn't put effort to the class. She grades the test by seeing how much work you put into and one mistakes ruins the whole question. She doesn't provide formulas and also doesn't provide you some exact test problem from the book or review. She put random question we've haven't seen and expect to answer it.
Prof Cassis is very sweet, but a horrible teacher. She is very slow, so she can only make it through about 5 questions total the entire class. SHE uses a calculator but doesn't fail to remind us that we are not allowed to use calculators on any of the exams, and does not assign any hw or quizzes, so your grade is solely based on your test grades.
I suck at math. Professor Cassis is super sweet and is really flexible. if you are semi good at math, you should have no problem. Do ALL the math lab homework and get a good score. She doesn't really take attendance. She gives projects. Do them. She is SUPER flexible with exams. This professor has a thick accent, but she is so nice and accommodatin
Shes alright. Very slow and sometimes hard to understand. Usually whats on the study guide is going to be similar but not exact to the test and she forgets to teach a couple of things. Dont take her if you can choose a better professor, but shes not that bad.
4 Tests and a final. Homework counts for nothing and is not even similar to tests. Look for a different professor.
I have to say I have always been really good at Math. I even took Pre-Calc before this class. But Calculus seemed SOO hard for me this semester and with Professor Cassis is almost impossible to learn. She doesn't respond to your questions accurately and is very slow. She assigns homework that she never collects and we have 4 tests and a Final. OMG!
Looking at reviews to gain an idea of what will be covered on exams is a mistake for this professor. Her exams are nothing like reviews and the examples she gives in class are the most basic ones that do not resemble what you will have on the test at all
DO NOT TAKE. Very sweet lady that should not be teaching business calc. She is nice but when you ask a question she kind of just asks it back... not strong in English. the reviews are NOTHING like the exams. you have to be SOO committed. get outside help. don't wait.
She's honestly not that bad! If you're horrible at math, I don't recommend taking her. If not, you'll be fine. The subject's hard no matter what and there are professors WAY worse at FIU. She does reviews for the tests and gives optional HW. Just try to study on your own too (the HWs, reviews, YouTube, etc.) and you should pass.
She's not too bad if you're good at math, but if you have trouble understanding it then don't take her. She goes way too fast at times and assumes you know everything as well as she does. The good thing is that she's a lenient grader and a very kind teacher.
She doesnt even help students out she thinks all the students already know everything. Exams are a high percentage of grade
She is a good teacher, she is good at explaining and she is really nice
Not the best teacher for a really difficult subject, especially if you struggle with math in general. I would avoid her, but if you have no choice, make sure you study a lot on your own because even though she's very nice, her lectures are not great and hard to follow.
Unless you feel comfortable with your math enough to have your grade determined by four tests and a final, do NOT take this class. No homework. No dropping tests. You don't even have to come to class. Just those tests and a final. Also, do NOT buy the access code for the textbook at the school bookstore. Waste of money. Overall, avoid. Period.
Cassis is very nice! A lot of the material should be prior knowledge, however if you have not taken math in a while I wouldn't recommend her. Math is not my forte, but I find her to be very sweet and helpful! I took MAC 1114, 1103, & 1105 at FIU. So her class is more than managable, do the mylabsplus, pre-class assignments, and ask questions.
Dont take this class if math is your weak point. Shes a nice lady but you will definitely have to teach yourself the material because this lady teaches NOTHING. Its all pre-class assignments and you come to class doing in-class assignments in groups. The LAs help and they are how I understood the material. Youll be lucky if you get a C.
Do not take her if you are terrible at math. However, I am pretty good and really enjoyed the class structure. The pre classes force you to prepare and make the material better reinforced when you practice it with your group in class. Cassis is extremely sweet, caring, and helpful when you ask questions. Easy A IF YOU TRY. LAs are great as well!
She is a serious teacher, but super nice! Your grade will depend on 4 exams, and the final. Depending on how the class is doing, the final exam can either substitute or drop your lowest grade from the first 3 exams. She also gave a bunch of extra credit in the last 2 exams. Buy the textbook and go the LA sessions, they will help you tremendously!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Professor Cassis is a wonderful person but not that great as a teacher. You will end up learning alone since she takes up the whole class doing problems without even teaching. The reviews are completely different from the tests. I came from a 98 in Pre Calc to a C in Calc, I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone.
4 tests. Calculus is hard to begin with but she makes it easier. She tries her best to grade tests fairly & offers extra credit. Her lectures are very clear, and she basically goes over the questions on the tests as in class examples and pretest reviews. She has a small accent but not hard to understand, overall, she is very caring and respectful
This professor is hands down the best calculus professor in FIU. She does have an accent, but they all do. Calculus is to me the hardest class I have taken in FIU. If you are not happy with your grade on an exam, she will sit with you and tell you what you did wrong and how to fix it. You need to put in atlleast 2 hours of studying a day to pass.
She does not lecture for MAC1140 because I believe that is a new rule for the math department. To get a good grade on the class make sure to complete the pre-class, in-class, and mylabsplus assignments (yeah it's a lot but that's for most teachers). She is good explaining privately NOT IN CLASS, and she is really caring and nice with her students.
Cassis is a very nice lady, however her teaching methods need work. She tries to teach every class, however I found it better to teach myself since her form of teaching confused me more. Lots of homework and online quizzes. Very nice and if you dont understand something shell go over it with you.
If you are bad at math, don't take her. Her teaching methods aren't the best and she tends to over-explain and ends up confusing everyone. The majority of the class had to teach themselves because she is not very clear when explaining. She does drop the lowest grade but your overall grade is based heavily on tests.
MyLabPlus will be your teacher. At least 4 homework and 1 quiz a week on MLP, 2 pre-class assignment, 2 in-class assignment. SHE DOES NOT EXPLAIN. DO NOT do that to yourself if you are lazy. 1hr my lab is required. if you miss a test on MLP she will reopen it. if you do not study, you will fail. P.S.: I couldn't rate 0 and she takes attendance.
MyLabPlus is the best way to learn. Unfortunately the way how she teaches completely misses the mark with zero explanations. You will need to study hard on your own if you want to pass. Better yet, find another precal/trig professor than this one
FIrst of all she is a great person overall and is super sweet and really cares about her students, but she is not a professor that should be taken if you struggle with math or if you are even good at math. Only take her if you have no other options and are really good at math.
Professor Cassis is an amazing professor. Calculus is a difficult class and if it a hybrid course your results are in your own hands. She knows the material and if you dedicate enough time to prepare yourself, professor Cassis will be there to fulfill her purpose in a hybrid course, she gives you 50% of the material through good explanations.
Rely on your LAs for this class. As much as Prof Cassis is a nice person, chances are if you're taking the hybrid course it'll be a lot of teaching yourself. Good class if you have a basic idea of what math is and you're ok with going to lab 2 hours a week.
Professor Cassis is a sweet lady but very difficult to keep up with. Her lectures are very all over the place and class gets very off track. Also anytime there is an issue with grading on she doesn't fix it. I don't feel like I have learned much in this class, everyone is there to pass.
Professor Cassis was amazing. I learned a lot in her class and she always made sure to explain further if anyone had doubts. She does assign plenty of homework, it should be easy if you pay attention and ask questions in class. I did not have problems understanding her because of her accent. I enjoyed her and the class very much; I recommend!
Understanding Professor. Will make you work but will not make your life impossible.
If you do not understand the material, there are multiple people who will help you out, even other students. The homework is lengthy sometimes, up to 60 questions, but if you fully understand the material it should not take long. You will need to purchase my math lab to do homework and tests. Test reviews are optional and very similar to the test.
this class was very time consuming between the required 2 hours in the math lab and the amount of homework that is given. attendance isnt "required" but theres always a 1-2 question quiz online at the end of a class. professor spoke very quietly and 70% of the time i couldn't hear her. she seemed sweet but I wouldn't take this class again.
I took this class during the Spring term. Beware, the course consists of 4 tests & 1 final exam. You have to teach yourself technically. Prof. Cassis is sweet but her lectures are super short and I recommend watching Youtube videos. You have to stay on top of the assignments otherwise you'll fail the class. Im thankful to have even passed with a C!
She's very sweet and makes everything easy to understand. She explains everything super well and emphasizes important information instead of having you figure it out for yourself later in the math lab with a TA. Mathlab is still mandatory, but the class and homework are super clear. The preclass assignments help. I would definitely take her again.
Beatriz Cassis does very little during class time. The classes seem useless and is often run by TA's. The work load is not difficult, but if you get confused it is hard to understand. There doesn't seem to be much teaching or help besides in the math lab.
A boring teacher, you'll need to find the motivation to pass this class.
this lady is not very good at all, I got an A because I tried really hard and studied my ass off nonstop. There is NO TEACHING from the professor, this class is pretty much online and you will not learn much, whenever you don't understand you need to rely on the LA's from the Lab and the online resources within mymathlab. There are 5 tests in this
Very kind & understanding lady; however, teaching is mediocre at best. Very quiet, mixes information, and focuses on content not highlighted on test. Very inconsistent on grading & instructions unclear. Luckily assignments are not complicated, and practice on MML gives you content needed for exams. Do not recommend if math is your weakest.
TAKEN: FALL2020 My grade was fair. I barely skated by in this class because it was all on zoom and math was never my thing. do the mylabs ahead of the due date and ask questions!! there were LAs helping out and teaching the breakout rooms. if its in person ask questions don't be scared. prof was nice, not tech savvy lol.
Too much work for a summer semester! What was I thinking?? Over 100 assignments, my other two classes are 20% of that COMBINED. Videos(with questions), MyMathLab HW/QUIZZES, and Four exams, plus final. Which you do not have to take ONLY if you get a 93% average on all your HW/QUIZZES. She is a LAST resort only!!
- Attendance matters, if I missed I was usually lost. -Before each test we worked on a packet that was considered ec. -Textbook isn't required, but I found it helpful. -during test don't be afraid to ask questions. Shes not one of those to disregard your concern. -takes long to grade bc she looks at work. -she's a really sweet woman.
Attendance is not mandatory, but it is recommended and graded (small percent). Your whole grade is based on 4 exams and a final (which drops your lowest score). There's an extra credit practice before each exam so don't skip those either. She's kind and helpful, tho I recommend any extra help (tutoring, etc), her class can and will be confusing.
If you're somewhat good at math, I think you will be fine, but don't expect much help from the professor. The hardest part for me was the exams, but there were retakes, which helped my grade.
The professor is willing help if you ask in class but she goes over too little content to able to sufficiently understand. She does gives extra credit before every test which does help.
horrible professor if your looking to pass the class. unwilling to help you or teach anything. had all TAs confused and making fun of the way she teaches cus what. everyone was also out of control by sending memes and making among us game rooms in class cus no one had any idea what was going on lol.
Calc is hard but there's a lot of homework as well. Honestly passing the class isn't hard
She is a sweet woman and you can tell she has a passion for math but she doesn't teach. Most of the time it's TA's doing the work. I'm glad we have retakes ion tests, otherwise, 90% of the class would NOT passed. We have a textbook but don't use it, it's basically all self-teaching.
I did good in this class because of Professor Cassis. She made time to talk to me over Zoom and she genuinely cares about her students. Yes, this class is hard no matter who you take it with. As long as you put in the time and effort, you will do good. Exams are on honorlock. Also, you mainly self-teach. The tutor schedule she sends HELPS.
You're gonna have to self teach all the material for this course on your own time. Which you'd be left with very little of because of how time consuming this class is with 3 sessions a week on top of a required 1:30 of lab time each week. Horrible teaching style, does not directly engage students, relies mostly on TAs.
Professor Cassis was kind and answered all of my emails and made it easy to excel. Yes, there are a lot of homework and quizzes but this helps bring your grade up in the end. She also offered extra credit in the end and ways to improve assignments. Exams are on honorlock and long but if you do the study guide it is an easy A.
Professor Cassis was quiet but I understood the work because she would write about the answers and how to do them. Her accent was hard to understand but the good news is that she uses MyLabMath. It is a good website because there are unlimited attempts on homework and you could have chances with quizzes. There were flaws but I would take the class.
Are you good at math? Shes fine. Are you bad at math? Good luck. Shes not bad but your going to struggle if you're not good. Do the best you can on homework and tests, and use the LA's for help every single time you can. She wont help much, email only. You are pretty much on your own. If you were forcibly placed into this class like me, good luck.
First of all she literally whispers throughout the whole class and gets distracted and begins to do her own things. She doesn't know how to do the bare minimum as a teacher which is to teach. Though the continuous work load does help because it allows you to learn on your own but I can do that for free.
I was placed into the class with no choice. She teaches but in a classroom full of a 100 students you can't hear her. You can only see what she's doing on a tv. She goes really fast. You are on a different module every class.
I don't understand the bad reviews on this professor, as this class was generally very easy. Most of your grades are homework assignments and they were easy A's. Exams are 54% of your grade but she is very lenient when grading and the tests are just like the assignments in class. Her teaching is not the best but the TA's do a great job for studying
This was a hybrid class. Every week there's about 4 playposits, 2 packets, and 2 quizzes. In class she does one worksheet, but talks so quiet & slow. There were 4 exams, & she's a lenient test grader. However, you'll end up having to teach yourself most of the content. Decently easy class, not the best lectures, a bit boring, & mostly self-taught.
The class is pretty self-taught, with minimal guidance from the professor. However, the material is manageable if you put in the work. Utilize Unstuck study and other online resources to supplement your learning. The exams can be tough, but retakes are available.
The lectures were not helpful at all. I had her three times a week, and I did not learn anything, which sucks because the class duration was about two and a half hours long. I learned more during the small 50-minute class we had to attend. She was really helpful with questions though and she was fast with responding to emails/canvas emails.
Casis is a very nice lady she is just difficult to understand. more than half the time the LA's were the ones going around and helping. she talks really low and with an accent. she seems a little lost and her lectures are confusing.
Cassis a nice person, she means well however she's difficult to understand. she talks very low and quietly and with a heavy accent. She knows the course material its just hard to keep up with the lecture and more often than not your going to have to figure it out yourself or ask a TA who knows what their doing
I took her for MGF1130. She is a super sweet lady but her teaching is average. She tries to explain but the class doesn't listen because she speaks quietly, has a strong accent, and doesn't try to keep our attention. Almost all of our work was due in the Math Lab except for 1 in class worksheet each week.
She is a really nice lady but her lectures are hard to understand. She's pretty quiet and you can't really hear her if you're sitting in the back of the classroom. The class itself wasn't that hard, just do the homework and you'll be fine. I HIGHLY recommend you go to the test reviews an hour before your test in the math lab.
TERRIBLE AWFUL DO NOT TAKE HER
if i could go back in time id switch my teacher it's a bunch of students and all yall gon do is copy down a worksheet & homework in the math lab its useless!!
There are many issues with her teaching. From there being lecture only, to there being no homework until the class pleaded for it, to the only assignments being graded were quizzes and test. It was horrible. She needed two assistant teachers whom honestly did more work than her. She has a good heart but her actions are so lazy and mean. 1/10
DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT TO STRESS EVERY NIGHT BEFORE A TEST. SHE SHOULD BE FIRED
If you want to pass you have to teach yourself you don't do much learning in class. She does help students after the lecture if you ask and you're allowed retest. You spend a lot of time in the course we had 90 minutes of math lab, 3 class periods a week, and homework assignments every week. If you're good at math you'll be ok if not good luck.
She is very lenient and not a harsh grader. I took this as a hybrid class, and it was fairly easy. Make sure to take notes of the playposits!! If you want to do well in this class, studying and taking notes before class is a must!! She expects you to take notes and digest the topic before class so the lecture is a review and examples of the topic.
imagine a traditional Cuban grandma teaching a college-level math course. that is beatriz in a nutshell. very easy to get along with, very kind and understanding, however not tech saavy at all and a little inaccessible. note: bad reviews are all on how crappy math is, not the professor herself. she's a very sweet professor but teaches hard classes
While she was nice, she does talk very quietly, making it difficult to hear her. She also messed up due dates quite a lot by assigning assignments on the wrong days and not the ones she told us. Her lectures also weren't that informative and difficult to understand. Personally, I wouldn't recommend having her as a professor.
Easiest math class I ever taken! Assignments aren't that difficult and work is simple to follow as she goes over it every class, even though she speaks quietly. This class was a breathe of fresh air and made me start loving math again. As long as you do the work in class, homework, and go to the labs, you'll do great on the tests.
Good teacher to take if you have some knowledge of the topic, but can be hard if you go in blind to statistic topics.Grades pretty easy in tests, final isn't mandatory but there is a final project, in class quizzes are used for attendance. Class is very easy to pass just study for the tests and do your lab hours.
She spoke very quietly so it was hard to hear her, class was over all super average we only had her as a fill in for half of the semester. She kinda made the material hard to understand.
Very mid, made material kinda hard to understand and she spoke very quietly so it was hard to hear her at times.
She gives a lot of extra credit and really wants you to pass. Just make sure you study and you'll be fine.
