She loves her field and it shows!
All the tests were take home. This class is hella easy
Knows what she is talking about, impressive.
Nice professor. Loves her field. Enjoyed every class!
Class is pritty easy, but she has a heavy German accent and long, boring lectures. Super knowledgeable in Art History...but goes on and on, often runs overtime:( She is sometimes vauge on instructions, so ask her to clarify what will be on the tests.
best twice a week 80 minute naps ive ever had. teahes with slides so the lights are down. she's boring and she has a thick german accent, but all the better to lull you to sleep. take home tests. maybe the easiest A i've ever gotten.
What's going on? She's totally disorganized and inconsistent. The first test was a take-home,and the next one was whacked. She seems to belittle each student who gets up to do their presentation, even though she's the one giving poor instructions!
GREAT TEACHER! A bit disorganized and doesn't really stick to the schedule...But she is extremely knowledgeable and has a passion for her subject. Take home tests each chapter EASY, optional "A" project (have to do to get an A) midterm & Final t
Everyday was a slideshow and of art and a review of the readings. It was all pretty straight forward. Memorize the artist and their particular work for the test. Do your projects. Hell, one was essentially optional. I got an A. Her accent isn't heavy.
She is the most unorganized teacher. Her classes are boring and irrelevent to the tests she gives. Her tests are so rediculous, and everybody fails! Don't take this teacher.
She is a walking encyclopedia of art history. But more importantly she can speak extemporaneously at leangth about the details of the art world and fascinate you with it. Reading, paper on a museum trip, takehome tests, research paper for an A.
slide after slide! so boring and so many details...if you can memorize everything then you'll do great. research paper for an A. Some take home tests some in class test. boring but not too hard.
unorganized and unclear! this survey class sucks, I got an A but it was sooo boring. I think she likes girls better then boys, my boyfriend got a worse grade and we did everything together. BORING!
She's not very hard, but if you like lots of memorization then take the class. She's unorganized & tends to lose/misplace tests & work. Can be a nice person if you are nice back.
I've taken all her classes, she is so knowledgeable, you will learn so much. I don't know why people think she's boring. She's great & you learn a lot. She cares about her students. Don't take her if you have no interest in art or art history.
I am amazed by the number of LOOSERS that come to this site and leave the reviews that they do. Boring??? It isn't Bermann-Enn's fault that YOU have little interest in the subject. She is an excellent instructor. Grow up.
I took this class credit/ no credit because I was told she was hard. I didn't hardly do any of the work and still got an A. I can't stand when she slurps before she speaks. It's horrible. Otherwise she's easy.
Knows what shes talking about, has lots of experience.however there is lots of memorization, gets boring watching slides everyday. tests are fairly easy if you study, covers all material for tests and gives study guides which are very helpful.
Very knowledgeable and her thick German accent can be funny at times. The slides get a little dull at times, but her tests are very easy as long as you pay attention to what she is showing and what she is saying. Good at explaining things
Her accent is not thick! She has a slight accent, which makes her voice sound elegant and refined. Anyway, she's such a wonderful teacher that you do not even need to read the book.
She is a very unorganized person, but as long as you stay on top its ok. I took the class credit no credit and now wish that I hadn't I didnt have to do the big class project or take the final and I still would have had a B. Not that tough!
i love her personality and accent. it makes the class really interesting when she speaks. it really fits her. i love the way she teaches and she helps you if you show your willing and determined. she is a sweet teacher and its cool she rides a motorcycle!
The class is very easy, but her teaching style sucks. She's always late, she's all over the place, she's rude, and she boring. I would take a class w/ her again for an easy A, but her lectures dont help at all w/ your grade and attending isn't necessary.
Her lateness and the disorganization really sucks. 15 min. late many times for class. It is kinda an easy A (or B if you slack like I did). Plus, student's oral presentations take WAY too much of class time near end of semester. But to knock out humanities req. it's kinda a no-brainer.She's good
Although she is a bit disorganized and flakey she is a really good teacher. I am really thankful that I had her as my first Art History professor. She is passionate about what she does and very intelligent.
Speak for yourself whoever you are who put the first comment about this teacher. YOU'RE the first one who rated her and you say you're in college? L-O-S-E-R. That's how it's spelled. Anyway this laday is unorganized, late and drives a harley? I guess. Couldn't understand a lot of things she said.
If you want to learn, discuss, see and talk about art, this German lady professor is one who does the job. She is quite unique, helpful, knowledgeable, experienced, open-minded and very dedicated. Her dedication and efforts far outweigh any slight eccentricities or mild-vocal-accent. 4+ stars!!!
HA! I'll bet you anything she wrote the comment below herself!! Boo for Beatte.
How easy do you expect the class to be?? She gives take home quizzes (easy to cheat on there, duh), easy presentations on different artists, and study guides that are pretty much exactly what is on the friggin tests...What the hell do you want? Take her!
Pay attention. Do your homework. She's a great teacher, you just have to make an effort.
This was one of the most interesting classes I've taken, not because of the material, but because of the teachers stories. She has a wry, sophistocated sense of humor- and she is a stubby, german lady. Hard material, but she made it easier than a lot of teachers do. But she is VERY disorganized.
This teacher is scary, unorganized, hurried, and needs to take tranquilizers to help alleviate her anzieties and what ever the hell she has going up in her head.
This class was awesome. She was kind of hard, but very willing to work with you, as long as you make the effort and show your willingness. Loved this class- so interesting! Bermann-Enn is a great teacher!
loves to talk about nudes not sure why. they should call this class the history of nude art. funny and easier but a bit strange. tests were super easy just remember visuals. open book quizes.
I absolutely loved this class and the professor. Yes, she's a bit eccentric but who cares. She knows her stuff, cares about helping students, and helps make the class interesting. I wish I could take her again! A+++++++++++
She is one of the best teachers EVER. Whoever wrote the comment about its easy to cheat...yes it is but you aren't going anywhere you freakin' loser she is a very nice trusting lady and you are just taking advantage of her (hence so many professors are paranoid). But if you actually want to learn...take her! she's great.
very professional at her what she teaches. she is a very sweet and interesting teacher. i enjoyed her class so much and i learned alot about art very clearly. take good notes and focus well and you will easily get a good grade. very nice and sweet and learn alot!
much here same - enjoyable - she is passionate, well educated and commited to arts and its history - you will learn interesting facts and overlaps of art movements - she is constantly keeping up on things with active participation of travel, exhibits and reading. I think her class is reasonably easy, but you have to do some reading and note taking
Keep up w/course material discussed in class & outside assignments. Flashcards are a must. For example, side 1: paste(glue) image, side 2: a)artist last name, first name b)date of birth-date of death, c)place of birth, d)Style of image e)is image artists early, middle, or late work? f)textbook/teacher/quizes description/interpretation(notes)
I've never learned so much from just one class. She definitely knows her stuff. She teaches it like she knew the artists personally. class was very interesting. Tests weren't too hard, but she's pretty fair w/ grading. i would definitely take her class just for fun--u learn so much!
avoid this professor, she is extremely unorganized and boring. she knows what she is talking about, but her class is not stimulating. she simply lectures like a text book
I liked this instructor a lot. Very interested in the subject, lots of information. She is very helpful, wish I had the chance to take advantage of her office hours. Tests are not difficult if you study. Most of her tests in Art 109 are take-home. Final required more study time than midterm.
Beate is very passionate and learned. Great, friendly personality. All her history slides are her own! Well traveled woman. Her class borders on the slow side because there is no opportunity for class interaction. She takes all the time up. She also focues a lot on names and dates. Overall she is good; just a few faults.
She's fun and keeps you engaged
pretty easy class all quizes are take home and only the midterm and final are inclass. other than that you only have two written projects and thats it. easy A if you do the work and study for tests. classes are very boring though all you do is look at art slides while she lectures to the class about all of them.shes VERY nice tho EASY class
dont take this class. she is very unorganized and confusing, made me lose interest in the subject.
She's knowledgable about the subject, but not a great professor in my opinion. The enitre class is taught with slides, which can get monotonous at times. She does make up a schedule, but doesn't keep to it, hard to follow when it comes to presentations. She can get aggrivated, but the quizzes are take home. I wouldn't recommend her.
I really liked her teaching style. She made me discover a taste for art I didn't know I had. She also tends to be very kind and helpful.
Art history. She was one of my favorite teachers. Very inspiring and good sense of humor. The class is somewhat tough; you learn a lot of information, but it's fun. You are expected to identify the artist when shown random art works. Using flashcards wtih photocopy on front and artist on back helped me a lot. Easy A if you are enthusiastic.
Beatte is awesome!!! She was, by far, my favorite teacher ever. She truly knows the material, after all, she's been to most of the places and seen most of the subject matter in person! If you do your part as a good student you will be well rewarded. This is by no means a skater class. Reading, notes & attendance are a must to do well. I got an A+.
I had zero interest in art history before taking this class but this prof's enthusiasum is contagious. She has actually been all over the world, most of the slides are from her personal collection. She is extremely knowledgable but tends to move through fast and not so clear in syllabus. I would definately reccomend her, you wont be dissapointed.
Bermann-Enn is an okay professor, she does her material but it can get pretty boring sometimes. If you're not a good note-taker, its harder to understand the material. What did help were her take-home quizzes. She can talk a bit fast and sometimes it just makes me zone out. The art history stuff itself is interesting though
I had Beate for 3 semesters and I think she is a fantastic teacher. She really knows her subject and really cares about her students. She's flexible with deadlines and focuses more on providing in-depth lectures as opposed to tedious homework. I suggest using flash cards for exams. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who appreciates art.
It was really hard for me to understand her, plus she could get very moody. On top of that the room was very dark due to it all being based off of slides, when you combine lighting/her voice/ and a comfortable chair, you fall asleep!
Bermann is very clear about assignments, deadlines and material on tests which I really apprecriate in a teacher. Her lectures are hard to sit through especially when she keeps you late. She gives take home tests which are awesome. Don't expect much help from her, she is lazy with that. Take her, cram 3 times during the semester and you're good!
Good teacher, she was German, her accent's cool. Fun, nice, enthusiastic about material. Recommended if you're a newbie at art history, she goes in depth. I crammed for the tests with the study guide, got As on them, Oral presentation wasn't too hard, just be good about what the artist does and analyze works. Overall, good class. Not too difficult.
Is a good teacher in general, but openly favors the male students while discouraging and overly criticizing female students.
She's VERY thorough and knowledgeable about her subject. There's a few take home tests, one paper, a project, a midterm, and a final so there's many many chances to get an A in the class. She'll give you a study guide for the midterm and final; DON'T BLOW IT OFF! This class is almost a guaranteed A. Nice lady by the way.
Thorough assessment of art history, fun teaching style! As long as you do your take home tests and study a little you'll do fine. This by far is the easiest class I have this semester!
really interesting teacher, obviously loves art history. easy to get an A or B as long as you do the take home tests. i failed the midterm and final but got A's on the take homes and presentation and got a high B in 111 and low A in 110. she is a little unorganized but other than that i would recommend her class!
I had Art History Renaissance to Modern, unfortunately we never made it to modern, she is kind of all over the place, but is a good class, if you are into art history you will enjoy it. Use the study guide for tests, take home quizzes are easy, study your definitions of style for the tests. You can get an "A" with little effort
as an art major, one of the best. screw what anyone else says who is disinterested in this subject to begin with. she's owned an amazing gallery in LA, love motorcycles, and is THE most knowledgeable teacher in art I've known. Taken three of her classes, do your work and youll pass, an amazing lady, i wish i could study under her more.Prof, you RULE
ps, to the student rating on 'male/female' preferences, your just dumb. im a female and took 3 courses, and took the time to learn. she prefers students who give a crap. you obviously did not. so you failed. stop taking it out on a woman who has seen more and done more than you ever will. feel privileged to know a woman like this in a CC college
if u have no interest in art, dont take her class, cause shell make u work for your grade. ohhh nooo! not that! attendance mandatory, oh no! youre in college, WELCOME!!! & if you think shes unorganized its because the college system makes her teach more classes than this woman should be required to. shes amazing, be grateful for having her teach you
GREAT prof!!! Her lectures are amazing- you feel like you are traveling through history! She's really intelligent: has traveled and seen most of the classic pieces. I highly recommend this professor!!
Fantastic professor!!! If you want a great art history teacher, she's the one. Take home tests are great b/c you can verify your answers. Her lectures are amazing- full of details. The midterm and final are the harder tests- you better listen in class. She was my favorite teacher at Mesa. Superp class!!!
Honors Art History pre-gothic: I had no interest in art history and I still don't. Class is easy enough though. She is really helpful and informative, her personal stories are really fascinating but when it gets down to the details of art history, it's boring. I had trouble staying awake.
EXCELLENT TEACHER! I love this woman! Extremely educated in the subject and an all around brilliant and extremely intelligent woman. The class itself is easy. take home tests are a lot of your grade, but not too hard. the three tests you will take are semi-difficult but nothing you cant pass with some studying.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Wonderful teacher! She is articulate, cultured, and speaks with authority. Her perspectives afford a degree of lucidity otherwise inaccessible to a student unfamiliar with art. Faint of heart beware: this class is difficult. I found that with consistent reading and applying information from lectures, this course enhanced my life immeasurably. A+!
Prof. BBE is awesome. She?s knows the subject thoroughly. Tests: 4 take-home, mid, final. However, Bware: this class requires studying. Take notes, READ THE BOOK. Do take-homes right away! Study guide for mid/final. Study ASAP. Finals are long. It's not easy nor hard but it requires work. She is sweet, accessible, helpful. Don't be a miser tho!
I took her for Honors. A delightful professor. Attendance is mandatory and calculated in your grade=don't forget to sign-in. The info she tests you on the final and midterm are very specific- but she gives you a study guide. Textbook use is very high. Procrastination could esp. thwart efforts to obtain A in this class since exams are take-home.
i personally found her lectures a bit dragged out and boring, shes very thorough!(which is good, but well..) take homes are straight from the book (she grades tough only for these), theres a museum paper & you just really have to study for the midterm and final. one big must do oral presentation keep that in mind! S:
Horrible Teacher!!!! Do NOT take her, I'm warning you. She is practically senile... her lectures will bore you to tears. The midterm and final are really difficult, and while she gives you a study-guide it's completely illegible. She has no idea how to use a computer, and should have stopped teaching years ago. Hard to understand when she speaks!
had the honors class, very interesting. Offers extra work but its do-able nothing extremely difficult. Tests are take home and finals are easy when you study the sheet she offers online. Very nice lady, and will even have lecture outside of classroom. Little field trips.
I had no interest in Art but this class wasn't terrible. We had 2 take home tests, a take home written paper, a midterm, and a final, all of which she gives you ample study information for. I skipped many classes and still managed an "A." As long as you turn in the few assignments on time, you'll be golden.
I loved this class! She is very clear on what needs to be done in class, and it's hard to fail if one pays attention to the power point lectures and studies even moderately. I really had fun with this class, and highly recommend her to anyone who is interested in Art History.
If Mrs. Doubtfire were German... Bermann-Enn is a great teacher. She's a sweet woman and is clear with what she expects from you as a student. Class takes effort, and so does any. She wants you to pass.
Really great teacher. She made art interesting (Which was unexpected for me). She is clear with her assignments and gives all the due dates the first day of class. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK!! She does do lectures but she has so much information that she doesn't cover everthing in the book. The tests follow the book to a T.
Great professor! Super nice and clear as can be. She knows a lot about art and has been to the places that she teaches about. Shows pictures that she took and teaches with first hand knowledge which was awesome. Take home open book tests, 1 midterm, if you have an A you dont need to take the final. Great professor, I wish I could take her again!
At first this class was great, then the teacher started to show herself. She's a retired teacher that was asked to come back. Her quizzes are all over the place and hard to read. Not really around for help and doesn't respond to e-mails if you want to make an appointment with her. Lectures are pointless yet you have to go. But she has passion.
Really sweet and accommodating older retired lady, however she is extremely scattered in regards to assignments, due dates and grades. She is very passionate about the subject, I just wish her lectures were more intriguing. No point in showing up for class, everything she talks about is in the textbook. Pretty easy class overall. Hard exams though.
Her teaching is simple, well informed lectures with interesting anecdotes as she has visited many of the art works. There are take home tests based off the textbook. Exams are kind of difficult also incl. mystery slides. The paper and presentation are easy to do and make your grade. Do well and show up and you will be rewarded with an A, no final
Shes awesome. Comes across tough at first but is there to help.
1 paper, 1 class presentation, 8 take home tests, in class mid term and final. She's passionate. Pretty easy A.
This class is not extremely hard, just make sure to do things on time and talk to her if you need any accommodations. She is one of the most passionate people I have ever met, I enjoyed the class despite not being remotely interested in art. Find something that intrigues you in the lecture and ask questions.
AMAZING! I love this teacher and I hope she doesnt retire!!! Shes so sweet. There are like 8 quizzes, 1 gallery paper, extra credit and 1 oral presentation but shes a sweet heart! Im glad I took her ( she is always late but still the best ) be ready to study ( she LOVES art history )
The class was generally pretty easy. The lectures are a bit long and boring but .. I mean its art history. She told us two weeks away from the final that if we had a "safe A," we didn't need to take the final which was great for those of us who did well the whole semester .. Weekly open book tests are due.. the midterm was not open note! was heavy
About to graduate and this was the easiest class I've ever taken. She was even nice enough to accept late work. Not being mean but if you struggled with this class, seriously consider taking up a trade because college is not going to get easier from here.
