really anoying voice, her class was really hard, and she moves to fast.
no way she's awesome! she's so friendly and helpful. her tests are multiple choice and come mostly from lecture but you still need to study.
I absolutely love her! She is one of the best lecturers I have ever had! If you don't want to do the work, you can expect not to pass. She is very clear and incredibly helpful, but, bottom line anatomy is hard. Alot of memorization!

Lectures are generally very good. Tests cover whats she lectures. Very caring and will help you whenever you need it. Overall a great teacher. Highly recommended.
subject is hard. gives extra credit. good teacher. teacher is avalable after class and lectures are clear. good class and teacher but requires a lot of studying.
I used to come late to her class and she would deduct 20% off my reports, but still she was so professional that she didn't hold that against me.My major wasn't biology and I got A's for both. She hates butt-kissers and she won't give'em A's hahahahah
She is awesome! Very passionate about the subject matter and her students. She is strict but after you transfer you'll see that she only had your best interest in mind. Don't fool around in her class, she hates slackers. She's the best in the bio dept.
This class was hard and needed a lot of memorization~!!!! but she will help you well and give you some extra credit~! good class and good teacher.
She is a wonderful person, teacher, friend.
She is horrible. Her voice is bad. Instead she give lecture, students give lecture. Her job is bothering student.
If you like bio you'll be happy you took her class. One of the best science profs in lavc for sure and easy-going person. Good lecturer but more important you read the chapters. Highly recommend.
She is an excellent teacher. Probably the best in the department. Her tests are not easy but if you study you should do very well. For this class you don't even have to read the book, just study from her lecture. She only tests what she went over in class. She's very knowledgable.
She is a cool teacher that will help you pass the class. Do your homework, go over the lab book and you will pass the class. Her test is easy. The good about this class you will go on field trips. I advise you don't cheat on the test and don't copy your friends homework.
of all the three profs that i liked at lavc, she is one of the best 3. she's very tough but hey it's bio 6. she is very helpful and gives you all the info u need. she is very very fair and encouraged her students to study. oh and this is coming from a real student....:)
I love Dr Green. She honestly cares about her students and want them to do well. She is even helping me with summer research opportunities. I once had a bad experience with Huang, but now I know that there are good bio teachers that want you to succeed.
one of the hardest classes but the material is so interesting and she will help out any student. advice for this class: memorize. she is great person and lovely teacher.
Dr green is one of the best bio3 teacher in the valley, explains the lesson clearly and helps her students a lot.I learned a lot from her,She makes her subject a lot interesting that you'll like it.well thats all take her if you have the chance too.
I really liked Dr. Green. She is an awesome teacher and you'll love biology after taking her class. The tests (esp Lab exams) can be hard, if you study day by day you should be fine. Don't leave it for the night before because you won't pass the class and I'm speaking from experience! Great teacher!
she is a very friendly and easy teacher, but she is also strong willed, dont get on her bad side...and do all the work...you will get an A for sure...keep up with the lab book ...
the hardest class at lavc, demanding work, and takes up a lot of studying time. recommanded to be taken with out other science classes becasue of the amount of work given. Besides that, Dr. Green is the best teacher in the department!!! she brings out the best of your abilities if u put in the work.
Great teacher!!! she is very demanding, but if you follow the lecture notes and read the book, you'll do well in the class. makes the class very interesting with all the explanations and details.
Dr. Green is awesome. Highly recommend her for Bio 6 and Bio 7.The best professor I have ever seen. But you need to do the work. Classes are hard.Dr. Green is always willing to help, very nice personality. Never cheat on her exam. Try to do your best but don’t cheat. She will not respect you. Do your work on time. Good luck.
Very clear expectations, no surprises on tests. You'd better have time to study to do well in her class. Lots of quizzes and homework to help keep you from slacking. She's a smart lady and a good person-and I love that she watches like a hawk during tests to prevent cheating! Take her...also with her voice, you'll never fall asleep!
She is a GREAT teacher! She is not your mother or babysitter, she expects students to do there work and to be respectful in class. You will learn more from her then just biology.
She is a very good teacher. She tells you right from the start what she wants from you and how she wants it done. Tests come straight out of her lecture notes. The classes are hard (a lot of memorization) but if you put a lot of time and study what she says then you're guaranteed an A.
Excellent teacher. If you have a good memory, it's not as hard as it seems. Most of the questions are from notes (sometimes they are tricky though!) She's very helpful and straight forward. She'll tell you what she wants and expects too. You just have to study hard from the beginning of the class!
she is a wonderfull teacher. If you want to learn anatomy than take her she is the best.
This class was hard and she is seriously demanding. Every week, lab books are due and there is a lab quiz which is very hard. The tests are absurd. I am an A student and I got a D one the first test. There is also a lab test where you have to read 7 chapters on your own and have a 3 hour test. There is also a paper. And that's non-honors. ugh
her tests are crazy!!! her lectures are ok but it lacks analytical thinking. just memorizing
Dr. Green is a great lecturer-friendly, helpful etc. Two tumbs up! The lecture is clear and the lab is helpful. Lots of quizzes and homework which may seem like a burdon but trust me, they will make you read your text book constantly. Over all this is a great class and if you really want to learn about human anatomy you should take it with Dr. Gree
She is probably the hardest teacher in the whole campus. she pretends that the class is hard and that she is there for you-Huge lie!!! if you want to learn something in biology take her but know that she wont give you an A even if you are 2 points off. she is tough on grading and not fair at all. i dont recommend on taking her!!!!!

She is worst teacher in my life. She has problem in her life. She is born to suffer other people. Dont take her. She is not fair and her personality is worse. If you want to fail take her class.
SHe doesn't do much to help you not think of suicide. Her voice is miserable and pisses you off early in the morning. She just trys to make the class as hard as possible and is more concerned you memorize a bunch of information rather than you actually understand the material. I hated life while i was in the class. Have fun reading!!!! good luck
Bad personality and high expectations. Class drains your time. Tests/assignments are straightforward.
She's very easygoing and to the point. She even gives you hints for what's going to be on the exams. Excellent personalitly, and very caring. She tries to make it fun! So, what if her voice is a little different! She loves her job and it projects when she teaches! I absolutely loved her! She made anatomy fun and was very helpful and quick to answer
Do yourself a favor and get the textbook now and get a head start on the reading and start memorizing the amino acids. You'll have to draw them out. Also memorize the citric acid cycle and glycolysis. All steps and enzymes involved. She's tough so you better not have in other hard classes. In the end though 13 people got A's and about 15 B's.
DONT TAKE HER. HER EPECTATIONS ARE VERY HIGH. SHE DOSENT REALIZE THIS CLASS MIGHT BE SOMEONES FIRST BIO CLASS.
This class is a very interesting class. Although it requires a lot of knowledge from Bio 6 class, it is very helpful for any bio/chem major student. There are no tests/quizzes and all you do is labs. The teacher was very helpful and to the point of what to do. Great class!!!!!
Her captivating purple pants makes it nearly impossible to listen to her velvety smooth voice as she answers her own questions. She is an awesome teacher and she always knows when the good sales are at staples. but seriously you will learn a lot, she's one of the best!
THIS WAS MY FIRST BIO CLASS EVER TAKEN! and i was also in honors section, and believe me...all you need is dedication, because this woman is a great teacher! whatever she teaches, will be useful! and hey!!I GOT AN A!!!!...WORD OF ADVICE! READ THE PHYSIOLOGY CHAPTERS!! IN ADVANCE!!!!!! or else, even though its open book! U WILL FAIL!!
Prof Green is a excellent prof. She is very kind and caring and does whatever she can to help her students succeed. By far not an easy class!!! Prof Green will push you to learn however by the end the class you will walk away knowledgable and greatful. Note: All nursing majors should consider take Prof. Green.
Great teacher and kind person. She's really energetic and fun (and has the best potlucks!). Her knowledge is incomparable and she prepares you very well for what lies ahead as a Bio major. If you want to get into Med School, take her classes.
One of the best teachers ever. She knows how to teach and seems very knowledgable. She gives a quiz everyday (they're not hard). there are in class labs you have to do everyday and she does offer a few extra credit. I you get a chance take her class, she truly is the best science prof. I got an "A."
Wonderful teacher! She inspired me. Take Dr. Green's class if you want to go into research or pre-med. She'll make sure you're focused and know the right info.
She is great! We, and I speak for the whole class, learned sooooo much more in the lab with her than we could ever dream of learning in lecture with _______.Very blunt, sarcastic, and fun.Lab wasn`t difficult at all, however class attendance is crucial because of the quizzes.Don`t know her in an assigned lecture class but am sure she is just as good
great teacher definetly take her if you need bio 7, but prepare to work because she does expect you to take the class seriously. she is fare for the most part but has her favorites which is kind of annoying.
Easily and undoubtedly one of the most qualified professors. She is always clear in her lectures which are presented through powerpoints, offers plenty of extra credit, stays true to the textbook (which you'll be using a LOT), and adds humor to her lectures. Grades very fairly.
Dr.Green, She knows her stuff well. Very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend her class. If you really want to learn the material you should take her.
she is a very good teacher, take good notes and u'll be fine. she does expect u do to lots of work but she's very fair and helpful
Dr. Green is a wonderful teacher. She's not easy, but she cares. If you work hard, you'll do well and she enjoys it when you ask questions and need help.
Dr. Green expects a lot from her students, but she is fair and quite helpful. If you want to actually learn something, she's the instructor to take. You have to work hard for an A and she makes sure that you do. For Bio 6, make sure to study extra for the PHYSIOLOGY lab exam, because it's NO joke. Very conceptual and will affect your grade!
Dr. Green is one of the best professors I have ever had. But, this is not a class that you can slack off in. She is hard, yet fair. I had the best grade in the class, but I still had to work very hard to earn my grade. No easy way out, just hours of studying. If you are not willing to work hard, then dont take this class.
one of the best teachers for bio. not the easiest tests but she is very fair and offers extra credit on each exam. study her notes and read the book and you should be fine. i've learned a lot from her classes especially in bio 6 and that helped me a lot in my university. very knowledgeable professor.
I am A DSPS student and she bend over backwards to help me pass the class and boy was it HARD. IT is not recommened with alot of units and you must dedicate hours of studying! GREAT PROFESSOR! =)
For those of you about to sign up for anatomy- heres a couple of pointers. First, take DR. Green. She is an amazing professor. Her sense of humor definitely helps ease the stress levels of this course. 2nd. this course is intense and you will have no life. Plan your classes carefully. You can not cram for this class.. Have fun- its a great class!
By far the greatest bio teacher at lavc. Shes not easy though, you really have to work hard for the A, but even if you dont get it, you will leave the class knowing that you actually learned something.
AMAZING professor, she makes everything so crystal clear that you can only fail her class if you dont study. Her class is HARD, of course its a tough class with alot of information, but she teaches it very very well. I definitely want to take another class with her. BEST science teacher I've EVER had.
just try it =( not for me=( good luck!!
AMAZING teacher! Yes, you may hear shes hard but shes only making your life easier in the long run! Very helpful and she has an excellent way of teaching! Tests are more or less based off her notes, so show up to lecture days. If you can, take Bio 7 w/ her 1st before taking Bio 6! This way you get a feel of how she runs her class. I will miss her!!
Dr. G is a nice professor, she really wants to help, but the only problem is that she will make you learn half the materials on your own. I'm always up for the challenge, but not by reading 8 chapters of physiology over spring break. And her tests are composed of MC, fill in the blank and an essay question. plan to study 30hr a week for a good grad
I am taking Bio003 and she is our professor during lab; amazing and helpul. Quizzes are base on the prior week lab.
Not an easy class, lots to study, but she is great. She helps you get through it and her lectures are very clear! I recommend her
Awesome Teacher!!! Really kows how to make class fun. Never a dull moment. The class itself is hard but she really knows how to break it down. Take her and she will help you understand soo much!!
she is really hard and if you want to pass the class you really really don't have to take any other classes.
she's hard and not that much helpful I tried hard but couldn't get the good result.
Idk why people say such rude comments about her ashe is the best professor on campus.. I had an F a month before class was over.. But she helped I GOT A C yay!!.. Almost a B.. not onl;y that but she cares.. She helped me through my family crisis and helped me focus.. In all TAKE HER best teacher EVER!! Nd YOU WILL ENJOY THE CLASS ND MAKE FRIENDS!!!
The worst professor I ever had. She doesn't encourage students. Instead she gives you stress. Stay away from her!!!
To whoever complains that she's a hard teacher...WHAT A BUNCH OF BABIES!!!...Honestly, you're in college! There is no better way to prepare for any career/college career! She turned my educational ways around, and now, thanks to her methods, I'm a 3.5 GPA student, after a 2.2 High School career...and she's pinpoint clear about what she expects!
Dr.Green is a great teacher but Anatomy is hard! You will need to breath, eat, sleep and BE Anatomy. She will not spoon feed you but will give you all the tools you need. She listens & cares. GO TO LAB! You WILL learn in her class. Re-write her notes at home, it helps a lot.
had her for bio 3 lab. great prof for a lab. very helpful. drops the lowest lab and quiz. labs are easy, quizzes can be difficult/tricky at times. overall very hard to get less than an A as your overall grade in the lab. pretty easy and shes really nice. if shes doing a bio 3 lab TAKE HER.
Awesome teacher!! she kept me interested. always connected the lectures with life and makes them interesting... It was a hard class with lots of memorization, but the good thing is she only puts staff from lecture in the tests... Pay a lot of info on the pictures she mentions they are definitely going to be on the test in one way or the other. If y
Great teacher. Hard subject. Make sure you DO NOT TAKE ANY HARD CLASSES. You need to study everyday for a few hours. and spend alot of time at science lab.She gives you the tools to succeed.very organized! Hard subject.
Very helpful! I took her for medical terminology and Anatomy 1. She is the best teacher to take for Anatomy & Med. Term.! She is very understanding if you have emergency situations that may conflict with a test or assignment! Ask for help & you shall receive it from the best! Thank you Dr. Green! :)
Very hard class, but Dr. Green is so considerate, smart and helpful. I worked my butt off and got an A. There were only 3 As in the class which is typical for Anatomy. You can do it, but don't take any other hard classes. She is very knowledgeable and a great person.
Know that this is a subject you will spend most of your time with. Green will support and help you all the way providing you work hard. There is no way you can "wing-it." I highly recommend her as a teacher.
Most helpful instructor for students who looking to go into the health profession. If you need clarification on any of the material, she'll be glad to help. There are 4 tests. There is alot of group work in the labs. BE PREPARED is all I have to say for this class! You have a quiz @ the beg. of each class! Study hard and you'll succeed! Good luck.
Professor Green is the best Biology professor I have had to date. She is amazing! Tests are tough, labs are fun. She is very helpful so don't be afraid to ask her questions. Study hard and you will do great.
Lectures and clear, labs are fun. Her tests are somewhat difficult, but really fair, and are mostly based on notes. She appears to be dead serious when it comes to cheating of any sort. She seems to be somewhat considerate. She expects college level work from students. The beginning was more challenging and tapered towards the end of the semester.
Dr. Green-Marroquin's lectures are hilarious and informative. This lady knows her stuff! She's very sweet and willing to help if you ask. Plus, she's always willing to give advice and chat about anything.
She definitely knows the material, and she wants you to succeed, but you have to show that you want to, or she will just reciprocate the lack of effort.
She is a horrible teacher, stay away. She is rude, sarcastic and very condescending. Class is way harder and more stressful than it should be. Take class somewhere else.
WORST PROFESSOR!!! She does NOT explain anything. Has NO idea how to teach. Most of the class is failing! Maybe 3 students will end with an A because they have taken the class already. Stay away from her class. She just sits in lab & if you ask a question, she gets annoyed at you. Find another prof. No one in our class will give her a good rating
5 exams, lab quizzes, 2 lab practicals and a final project (regular). READ the book before you come to lecture, very helpful.U need to study for Everything, this class is time consuming but you will actually learn. She is will emphasize what to study. Do NOT arrive to class late. If u want to learn take this professor, don't sell urself short.
I took the hybrid class. Her tests are not hard they just have so much information, you don't know where to start. About 7 chapters per test. You CANNOT fall behind in this class or you are done. Pick a good lab partner. Test grades are everything! Expect to spend about 15+ hours a week studying for this class.
This class requires a lot of studying. There's a wealth of knowledge to understand and comprehend, and you have to stay on top of everything (you cannot fall behind in this class). She's extremely helpful, approachable and friendly. *Those students who complain about her and the level of difficulty of her class, have not put in enough study time!
Dr. Green is an AMAZING professor!!! Anatomy by itself has a lot of memorization,2 hours of every day. However, Dr. Green makes it fun and interesting. She is the best! Got an F on the first exam, got B in the class! if her class is full, take Dr. Byrd, they have been best friends since college, and they have same technique of teaching. Good luck!
Professor is extremely organized, which I loved. Several assignments, lab/online quizzes and exams. Exams are m/c, t/f, f/b and essay. Challenging class but you will learn a lot. Lab notebook was the most challenging b/c very time consuming. Lab assignments were SO fun! First half of class MUCH more difficult - then it calms a bit.
Her tests are tricky and too hard. I had to study 15 per week just to get a B....
Anatomy wasnt easy lots of memorizing dont take it with another science. Take advantage if the tutoring lab i lived in there i got an a
Dr. Green is one of those professors you'd like to learn from. She's extremely good at what she does, and that's teaching. Her sense of humor is a plus. Although she's not easy, it's worth doing all the work she assigns, since in the end it really does pay off. Wish I could take more classes with her.
Best professor ever, LITERALLY. Although you cant be lazy in the class and have to keep up with all the work (and quizzes/tests), everything is well organized and doable. Just follow her schedule people! I never read the book, everything is from the lecture, expect diagrams (she tells you which ones). I have learned so much from her!
This class made me realize how much I hate life. I put a lot of time and effort into it and only got a high B. If you don't have A LOT of time on your hands, or a super memory, then you will not get an A. Tests and quizzes are very difficult but labs are somewhat fun. She's a really fun and funny professor though!
The best science professor at lavc ! Very difficult class and time consuming, but in the long run it's for the best results. As long as you stay on top of you're game, don't leave studying for the last minute. Very helpful and great humor. speaks realistically and brings in info outside of class for those of you going pre-med. Fav. class
I studied a little bit everyday and put 6 hours right before the exams. Make sure you know the lecture slides! She tells you exactly what will be on the exam. Lab was easy (don't make minor mistakes, read it carefully). If you have a good memory than that'll benefit you (in lab midterm). You cannot be lazy, this is college!
She's quite unique. She expects you to turn in your homework at 9:40; however, if you turn it in at 9:43 you will automatically lose 20% for being less than 5 minutes late. Lots of labs that are at least 7 pages long, and you will be quizzed on them twice a week. Her motto is "Life isn't fair", so expect don't expect compassion from such educator
Dr. Green-Marroquin is an amazing professor and this class will be fun if you're into biology and like studying. The labs are a lot of fun, although, you should be studying for it from the very first day. It's not an easy class if you lack behind in studying the material. Overall, she's awesome and I will definitely take her again.
It was my 1st time taking Bio in Eng so it was really intense! Still i'd recommend Dr. Green. She is great & awesome! Your lecture notes will be your best friend. Lab was exciting to learn! Expected lot of works, quizzes every lab+paper due (ATTENDANCE) Overall, Dr. Green's class was great & she is very clear on works she expected from students.
Taking this class, I will tell you that she hard you have read a lot and study a lot and their no point of doing Mastering Biology because she say's it help you but doesn't especially towards your grade. There are easier teacher that don't pound information you don't need. !!!Beware (if no other choice getting another teacher good luck)!!!
Let me just tell you I am a bio major and she made me reconsider. Her class alone required over 30 hrs studying it's like having another full time job. am thankful I got a B in the class. Her final had nothing to do with 2chapters she said were on the test and I slept 3 hrs a night because of this class. If you have another option please reconsider
Do exactly as she says & you'll do great. Lecture tests are based off notes, literally. Study hard for lab quiztest! But it's all memorizing. At her office hrs she answers ANY questions you may have. She won't help you much on dissections BC you should be able to figure it out yourself. Use online resources to study for lab final! Took w honors.
She is great
I would not recommend taking a class with Green because she is condescending, unkind and not approachable. Unapproachable b/c a lot of the time when asked a question, she responds with a snide or passive aggressive comment, which feels like a put down, inspiring you not to ask questions again. Hard to feel at home of comfortable in her class.
She is great! I learned a lot from her and would take her again. Wish she taught every science classes.
Dr. Green is an outstanding professor, she knows what she's talking about. The class is really fun but you need to study and put a good amount of time each day. The book is helpful, study the lecture notes that will be your guide to the exams. You can also talk to her about furthering your knowledge with the bio major, she understands it all.
Keeping it simple, Green is a great professor. Witty and a bit sarcastic. How to pass this class: Make friends! Study groups. Take good notes, re-write your notes, and make flashcards. USE QUIZLET!!! And Google. Once you start getting into classifications, make charts to understand the concept. Don't disregard lab. STUDY AS YOU GO! Best of luck.
I barely passed. worse professor. she is rude and unhelpful. she wont help you and enjoys seeing students fail. she is extremely difficult, because simply she doesn't know how to teach. she enjoys putting down the students and not approachable at all. Don't waste your time asking a question bc she wont answer it. she is horrible.
I suggest other students NOT to take this class. The teacher is GOD AWFUL. Its ridiculous how unreasonable this lady is. Reviews dont lie and I shouldve known better.
Do NOT listen to the bad comments, they are all from lazy whinny students. She is the BEST and funny. Get to know her, she's pretty awesome! She makes you work for your grade, but believe me, you'll learn so much from her. This is college, don't be lazy. STUDY and you'll pass.
BEST PROF EVER!!! Class consist of 5 exam(including the final) and 2 Lab Exam(use quizlet). All exams are multiple choice, true/false, and essay question. Each lab class you'll have a quiz based on the preivous lab day. Book is not needed for the hybrid class exams are based on video lec. Nice, Cute, Easy to approach and honest.
She is very nice and knowledgeable. Encourages you to approach her! She teaches you biology and how to study for it. If you are whiny and lazy, maybe you shouldn't take a majors bio class. If you want to actually learn, take her. This is a difficult class, expect to study a lot! She is also funny and makes the class very fun!
Dr. Green brings humanity to the sciences. Her expectations are clear, and she is fair. If you take good notes during the lectures, review the labs, and read the book for added clarity you will do well. There are 4 tests, plus the final & a paper worth 10% of your grade. She gives a quiz each class in lab and there are only 2 lab exams.
Don't take her. Very hard teacher. Exams are so tricky and she covers LOTS OF information like a graduate student. 34 students at the beginning and only rest 18.
Tough professor. Tests are so Tricky ; Don't take her.
I sacrificed a chicken to the voodoo gods and passed with a B.
Despite what people say Dr. Green is a good professor. She is however very strict. Labs are due at the beginning of class and she will take off points if you are late. The tests are taken from the lecture slides, study those and the test will be a breeze. Quizlet will be your best friend for the labs *hint hint*. Don't take if you need an easy A
sweetest lady, caring and funny, clear and concise
tests 1-2 are ok. Test 3 is a lot of info. have nothing better to do? you can watch all her videos in one week. Overall if you put in hours itll pay off. I studied around 30-40 per test. And for gods sake write down as much info when she talks during lec about labs. And always draw ur pictures. Overall great prof. Wanna take hr for bio 6
Start preparing for your lab midterm the first class. on the lab midterm we had things like naming microscope parts, cell parts, the phylum of certain species, etc but the more difficult thing was the life cycles, pay attention to those. also make flash cards of the species and include their taxonomy because thats important too.
I took her Sp18 Bio6. It was a tough semester. I got a A though. There were 3 exams. If you study her lectures, you will pass. If you want an A, memorize everything. Finals was not cumulative but there were 6-7 ch, so still a lot. 1 project and 1 extra credit/volunteer. Project was a 7+ pg research. Treat your lab notebook like a professional.
Took bio 7 with her in spring and I loved it! Shes literally the best. If you get a B, C or lower its your fault. She tells you whats on the tests. You literally have to try to fail the class. Its a lot of info but its so interesting. Tests 1,2 were easy, test 3 was hard. Its all doable if you watch all the videos before class starts!
Doctor Green-Marroquin is a solid professor. I took her for Bio 3 and got a B in the class. Homework is online and it costs about $60 to access the textbook. It is a very fast paced lecture and test heavy class but shes very funny and interesting to listen to. Make sure you study or else you wont pass. Id recommend taking her.
She is absolutely my favorite. She tells you EXACTLY what will be on her tests and what to study. If you don't do well it is truly on you. I had her for her hybrid class so she had videotaped lectures on canvas that you needed to keep up with. The labs were fair and fun. You learn useless info in this class but she finds a way to make it fun. TAKE
This class takes a lot of time and effort to get an A. It's super memorization and test heavy. Fair class. She tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests, and gives opportunities for extra credit.
Best professor you'll ever have. she is super nice, explains everything really carefully and go over all important material. tells you what to study, and what will be on the test. she is also hilarious. accessible outside of class as well.
(1/2) Dr. Green is passionate and caring! She wants EVERYONE to succeed but she can only do so much for her students. Lec. is straightforward- know the stuff in red like your ABCs. Dont cram before exams you will start mixing things up. Very info. dense class, but that bio for you! 5 exams including final- very doable but you need to invest time!
I took Professor Green for a hybrid class. The videos (lectures) are filled with a lot of info, but she highlights in red what you need to study. Don't get me wrong, it's A LOT but it is more than doable. She makes you work for an A, but if you put in the time and effort you can definitely get it. You have a quiz every lab period based on the labs
If you just memorize all the notes taken during lecture your guaranteed an A. She may seem intimidating at first but she is actually nice once you get to be in her class. Her exams are exactly like her lecture notes. If you write everything down thats in red in her powerpoint you can get an A.
I have nothing but good words for Dr. Green. Shes an amazing professor. Bio 7 is not an easy subject, but she makes sure you understand it. Reading the textbook is a MUST! Online transition was tough for everyone, but she was always available even when remotely. Recorded lectures are gold! Flash cards are your best friend in this class.
Genetics as an online class isn't easy, but Dr. Green-Marroquin is very organized and available. All the homework was on MasteringGenetics and they're easy points to rack up. Quizzes are useful to understand her question style. Her lecture are pre-recorded, but they weren't enough to do exceptionally well on exams (use the book).
Professor Green has been a real gem during this pandemic. She is very knowledgeable of the topic, but it is very hard even though she makes it easier to understand. Labster has been used for labs, and now for the next 2 years she will be the biology chair. Take her especially if you're a bio major.
Tough but nice professor. Study a lot for her exams, need weeks of preparation. Class is memorization basically. Didn't offer much EC w/ online transition. Don't take other hard classes w/ this 1. 4 exams, 2 lab exams, 1 presentation, online hw (easy), 1 final. Read the book and do many flashcards. Ask for help if needed, she notices your effort.
Content isn't difficult to understand. It just involves LOTS of memorisation. If you're skilled in that, this class will go smoothly. Don't take this class if you're not willing to put in the work. Good test grades are extremely important. It's clear what will be on tests; studying is straight forward. Labs can be a bit tedious but not too bad.
DONT TAKE HER! In her online class she gave 20 secs to answer each question, 90 questions in 40 min. Not flexible, I studied on average 35-40 hours a week and I got a B in the class
If you're not a bio major, do not take her! Lab quizzes are twice a week, all with proctorio. If she forgets there's a holiday, get ready to do 3 labs, 2 quizzes and 1 exam on the same day. She says she won't test lab material on the lecture and vice-versa but she does not follow that. She's been teaching for 20+ years so perhaps she got tired.
worst professor I've ever experienced, and i've taken alot of classes. avoid at all costs. alot of her exams didn't follow what we studied on.
karen.
The amount of work you put in is the grade you will receive. There are no shortcuts with this class. Time management, memorization, and comprehension are the skills you need to get a good grade. Lectures are long but provide in-depth explanations that make the material easy to understand. Be prepared to STUDY. Also look out for her announcements!
Easily one of my favorite professors on campus! Dr. Green is caring and understanding to personal circumstances. I took her courses back to back and so glad I did because her class taught me so much in terms of academic skills. She truly wants her students to succeed just communicate with her!
She's fair, understanding, clear, and concise, so it really comes down to how much time you're willing to put in. I'd strongly advise against taking this class if you have full-time obligations since it requires a lot of time. Be sure to make flashcards/an outline/brain storm while watching the lectures so you don't waste any time between exams.
I enjoyed her class, and she is a fair grader. She will try to help you pass as long as you put in the effort and communicate with her. Her class is tough, no doubt, but you do learn, and her lectures are amazing but long. Taking notes can double the amount of time.
HORRIBLE
tread with caution
Terrible professor that cares more about formatting, tardiness, and making students afraid to ask questions. Didn't learn a damn thing from her and I've completed over 90 units at LAVC. Would highly recommend anyone to avoid taking her class unless you want some annoying Karen yelling at you about being 1 minute late.
Very rude and seem to have a superiority complex. Majority of the students are afraid to ask her questions regarding work because of the condescending tone she would give. If you aren't a biology major I would HIGHLY suggest you take a different professor as she will make your semester 5x more difficult.
Dr. Green is an amazing professor. She is intimidating at first, but if you pay attention you'll be fine. All material from lectures needs to be understood and memorized to do well on her test. This class includes all the fundamentals for a bio major which is why you should memorize everything she teaches very well if you want to succeed.
This professor made me lose interest in the entire field of biology. She is a Karen, I have never felt so dehumanized in class. Developed a drinking problem because of her, so will you. I would rather start a new life in Iraq as a woman than retake this class. I have depression now and take SSRIs. I just want to be a doctor now, Im the patient.
Goated Lab professor. Was hesitant at first as I thought she was strict, but I was wrong. She is kind, caring, cool, and actually enjoys working with students. Her labs were simple. Just complete the assignment, study a bit, and then take the lab quiz the following week. Would take her again 100%.
Dr. Green is my favorite professor so far. If you took AP bio or had a rigorous high school biology class, this class isn't too bad. Labs are stressful but prepare you for lab work, lectures are online, and her email response rate is great. If you don't have a good bio background, this class'll be a huge time commitment. Asks some niche questions.
I love Bio although it's not something I'm going to pursue it fascinates me. Anyway don't listen to the rate my professor reviews calling her a Karen. She was a really great professor, funny, gives good feedback, happy to answer questions, just overall a great professor. Although it was a heavy class MAKE STUDY GROUPS it will save you.
All these comments about her being a KAREN are NOT TRUE, she is a kind and caring professor. You have to be on top of your work to succeed. Forming study groups helps a lot. Lab quizzes before every class on the previous lab. Study the previous labs before going to class. Exams are difficult but if you study well you'll be fine. SUPER FUN CLASS.
Don't take this professor, she'll never answer your question properly. She's veryyy strict on grading, she's the definition of a KAREN. She's so unfair with her policies, she definitely has her favorites in the class, and if you're not one of them, good luck. I never write any reviews on any professor, but my experience with her was just horrible.
she is a NIGHTMARE. the good reviews are written by her select few favorite students, no joke i have never hated life more than when i was in her class. the entire class went into lab with an absurd amount of hatred, because she is a nightmare. we got yelled at, cursed at, verbally berated multiple times. i genuinely don't know how she still works
Terrible personality. Makes you afraid to ask questions, and gives an attitude when you ask something as clarification. Screamed at students. If you take her class, write down everything she says in lab, and memorize lectures. Stay out of her way and study and you can get an A. Time-consuming class but doable. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. You got this!
She was a nice professor overall, but the work was very heavy, tests were super heavy, and she never rounded up, you have to take a lecture exam and lab exam at least once every 2 weeks. The more your absent the more work you have to catch up on and she goes through chapters very quick. We also had a huge project that was worth more then the final.
All I have to say is that I don't want to see her face ever again, she's haunting me in my sleep even after the semester was over. I can't even look at a cell without getting flashbacks to her class and getting overcome with anxiety. Every single time I stepped into that class I wanted to either cry, throw up or rip my hair out of my head.
One of the hardest classes I've taken. She clearly knows what she is talking about and could teach this class on her sleep, which it made seem like she was just in auto pilot. There was not a lot of clarification if people were confused. Lab heavy, my hands hurt from all the writing we had to do. Exams are tough and no extra credit opportunity
STAY AWAY!! If you already don't like bio she makes it even worse. She thinks she's better than everyone, brings down students and makes students afraid to ask questions; could go on.Don't know why her ratings are even so high WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T TAKE HER, TRUST ME YOU WILL THANK ME. Her so called "lectures" had nothing to do with the HARD TESTS.
Amazing teacher and expert. More demanding than other bio profs, but gives you all the resources you need to succeed. Extra credit every test and a merciful final to help bring grades up. Her strong personality and humor made the labs a pleasure.
AVOID THIS CLASS! The professor has extreme attitude, has unclear expectations, and grades harshly. Tests are brutal, and there are weekly quizzes, sometimes 2-3, so be ready to study. Absurd amount of time will be dedicated to lab notebook that decides 40% your grade. If you must take her, go to OH and get on her good side (if possible).
