she was just witchy very anal and not flexible dont take her
No Comments
She sucks!!!! But what sucks the most is that she is practically the only one who teaches the damn class!! She had a mid term and a final that are extremely hard, and a stupid project! She just sucks all around and she always has an attitude!
EDF in class was tough - she's rigid in structure and absolutely unforgiving about turn-in times, but she grades easy and fairly. EME online is sooooo easy. The directions are very clear - just follow them and turn assignments in on time and you can't go wrong! She's always available via email and quite timely. Much easier online than in class!
I think her class is pretty easy if you do everything you are suppose too. Her tests are not to hard if you study, and sometimes she gives extra credit points!
Great Teacher!!! Very organized!!! I learned a lot!!
She is a stickler for thing done her way. Follow instructions to a tee or point will be taken off.
It doesn't matter if you did everything on time and or ahead of time if you have a one problem even at the end of the semester and 30 seconds late submitting then you just out of luck. She doesnt care about computer problems she just says she isnt responsible. She is very rigid about due dates. (good reason or not)
I am graduating next week and this professor was the worst I ever encountered. Unflexible, Uncaring, excessively rigid.DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS if you can help it. Horrible experince, I am a straight A student and got a C in her class.
I took this class online. Ms. McAfee is a stickler for detail and has strict deadlines, but I never once had a single problem with her. She grades a little hard, but fair. The assignments aren't that bad and I learned a lot. You show up for class twice the whole semester, that's it. If you're a procrastinator you will not do well in this class.
She gives a lot of work and her tests are really hard, but if you turn everything in and study then the class is easy. I got an A in here because she was always there to help me when I needed it.
I did not like her at all. Very prude and unfriendly. She grades everything VERY tough and gets an attitude if you ask her anything regarding your work or grade. I DONT LIKE HER.
VERY rude, not very helpful. her lay out was very cloudy. Not welling to help you ALOT. She makes you think you should know what to do.

If you're prepared to be a teacher, you can easily handle her class. She gives a lot of work and has high expectations for her students, but if you complete your assignments you will definitely do well in her class.I took EDF live and EME online, the online class was slightly more work but I enjoyed both. She is by far my favorite teacher at HCC.
All in all, it was a easy class. She practically spells everything out for you, and all there is left to do is do the assignments. She's very helpful whenever there are questions. Great professor!
Thank god I didn't have to go to more than one of her classes! She is perhaps the most rigid, arrogant instructor I have ever had! Even though I know the software WELL, her syllabus is cloudy and hard to understand. How on earth can we do a lesson plan if we've never been taught? If you take this as an online class, make time for the work. It may not have helped that I took it in 7 weeks over the summer!
If you can't turn stuff in on time, are easily overwhelmed by multiple assignments and aren't prepared to put effort into the class don't bother. That said she is an excellent instructor and you will learn quite a bit about the realities of teaching. Not very personable, but her goal is getting students ready for teaching, not being a friend.
Easy class, just follow the syllabus. Weekly assignments are due every Sunday.I took it online. You can easily work ahead and have the semester done way before you have to.
THIS WOMAN IS CRAZY...i just turned in an assignment that had a minimum word count of 500 and i had 497 and she gave me a MAX of HALF CREdit!!!!! ****!
I took her for cgs1000 last semester, and again for Intro to Ed. So I must say that she is an awesome teacher. She doesn't baby you, she practically spells everything out for you. She does assign a lot of work, but hey, you have to deal with it sooner or later.
She is very arrogant and not a people's person, but she does help you prepare for the teacher field. she does give a lot of work and test are timed and online(evrything through webct) so if you are a perosn that cant handle things like this-this is not for you. i am standing at a B right now, we'll c what I get at the end of the semester.
Her grading scale is ridiculous. A project that can take up to 6 hours may only count as 25 points while a 20 minute project may be worth 50. Any mistake made on any assignment results in a minimum 20% deduction off the grade. When she fails to communicate something she assumes it is due to your ignorance rather than her lack of clarity.
Very helpful
She is very blunt and to the point...doesn't have any mercy on you if you don't do things the way she wants them done. I wouldn't recommend taking this course unless you have a LOT of time on your hands, like being on the computer EVERY DAY, and are extremely detail oriented and can follow every little instruction. You'll do fine if you can do that
She's really strict and to the point, but if you have a question, she'll answer it fairly quickly (I took her online class). Its a lot of work, but that should be expected being that your in college. I got an A in her class, all you have to do is follow her instructions and she gives plenty of extra credit.
I have graduated now, and I have to say by far this was my FAVORITE teacher. I liked her so much I took her for EME 2040, CGS 1000, and EDF 1005. She is SO helpful. Just ask her, nicely! She even signed me into one of her classes. Just do your work and follow the guidelines, not rocket science here. You will learn a lot! -K.A.B.
She tries to intimidate you a little in her first class. But, stick with it! She is an awesome teacher!! The classwork isnt nearly as much as you think it will be. I got a job because of all the knowledge I learned in this course. Remember your in college, this isn't high school anymore. Do your work, follow the guidelines, you'll be fine.
great teacher. The work seems really hard at first sight but once you start taking it its a piece of cake. She is very helpful and responds to emails quickly. The best teacher I've had at H.C.C
VERY particular! Everything must be EXACTLY how she wants it. As a result, you end up focusing more on the details instead of focusing on learning. But if you do exactly what she tells you to do, it's an easy class. A ton of projects, but they are pretty easy with step-by-step instructions. Midterm and final easy if you study what she tells you to.
very easy to understand
she seems like the professor that can intimidate you at any time.. but reality is,,, easy going and simple.. cool teacher to speak with at any time... easy class
Has strict rules; but they are all spelled out. Just follow the directions and you will learn along the way. Helpful through e-mail.
Knows her stuff and has many connections. Teaches valuable information and keeps class entertaining. Only downfall is she treats class, even adult members, like her middle school classes which gets irritating. Other than that great teacher!
instructions are crystal clear. very particular. funny. sarcastic. A LOT of work but mostly easy assignments. recommend!!
Follow your syllabus and you will have no problems. If computers were my area of interest. I would take any of her classes.
Very strict. Is not willing to be flexible when real life situations come into play. Only cares about her class and is not by any means compassionate for other people. Don't take her!!! Especially online!!!!!!
she was awful. very rude. dosent explain things well at all. grades arent fair. all tests online, open book but impossible to find answers. dont take her!
Withdraw from this class and please take Mr Senker @ Dale Mabry...I with drew after her orientation due to the way she spoke to us like we r children. No realistic views, like she is perfect so everyone else has to be, no room for error! Drop her and take Mr Senker, he is kind, realistic, informative, and helpful!!!
I can not even describe to you how much I hated this teacher. She did not explain the assignments correctly and everything had to be her way or you fail. She is a terrible teacher and I regret taking her. STAY AWAY from this class! Her tests are impossible even if you have read the book multiple times. JUST STAY AWAY!
The class itself is trivial but she is arrogant, blindsided, and childish. She even *forgot* to grade two costly items and then tells me I have to settle that problem with the dean. why the hell is this person in charge of anything?
took this class online and she was not very helpful. doesnt grade fair and when you have with the system online she doesnt care. you have to turn in the assignment late even if the site wont let you turn it in ontime.
Everything must be by the book or you get a 50. No chance to explain your reasoning. Most assignments are high school level busy work, nothing truly to gain from it. Treats you as if you were still a child. Drop this class!!
I took this class online. There is a required orientation given on campus. She goes over everything in detail. The syllabus explains her "RULES", the due dates, assignments, grading scale in detail. She is very clear to tell you she has been teaching for a long time, has many rules and there are "no exceptions to her rules" you Better Believe it!
I wish I had her for all my classes. She tells you what she expects from day one and it's up to you to do it. If you have questions she will help you and make sure you understand the assignment. I took her for both my education classes and wish she taught the Diversity class too. Great Professor!
PREJUDICE AND RUDE BEYOND BELIEF. This “Teacher” is straight garbage! Course is easy if you're able to teach yourself everything. Don't ask her anything. Interactions with a student is, extremely disrespectful, condescending, sarcastic, or her favorite line: “Take your concerns to the Dean” DON'T continue to keep her employed by taking her classes!
Rude and blatantly states she does not care. Does not know how to properly set her work online, and when it disappears / is not labeled correctly she gets mad at her students for being worried about their work becoming unavailable.
Horrible teacher. Was useless when it came to the work online. Her instructions were vague and her links did not work for the right things therefore you get points off because she says it's not the right one. Would never take this teacher again. I did everything she asked for and it is still not right.
Just finished taking her course on-line. I did not have any problems with the professor. If you have a problem she would prefer to call you (easier than email) to resolve it. She is nice. If you take this course on-line, make sure your PC can use Microsoft Office 2013/365. If you don't have it try a trial version first before taking this course.
Listen to the wise words below. She is rude, absolutely thinks she is above others, and does not understand simple questions. Over complicates things and her class is really useless. A TON of work. Busy work and stuff most people can do nowadays. Treats you like a petulant child. If you are not tech savvy, do NOT take her.
Not tech savvy at all! Really silly assignments, condescending teacher.
Do not take her!!!! She is horrible
Ms. McAfee is very strict. She tells you from the beginning what her expectations are. She goes by her syllabus 100%. Even though she is firm and sometimes even a little harsh, she is a great teacher. Teaching is a passion to her. She has many connections in the school system and always helps. Be respectful, and she will respect you. Great teacher!
This teacher has an interesting concept to say the least! Per her syllabus - no student, regardless of their work will receive an A in her class. I immediately dropped her course and enrolled in the same class with another professor which I received an A+ in the class because of my work.
McAfee has taught for a long time and therefore has seen it all. She teaches, well, teaching, so there is absolutely nothing you can fool her on. Her rules and instructions are clear and if you don't get them, that's essentially your fault. Her demeanor makes her a bit difficult to approach but she'll help if you ask. Recommended, but watch out.
I took her 6 week summer semester. I was also taking 9 other credits. Her workload is quite a bit. Don't go in with the attitude that this is an intro class if you do the same method as me. Her insane amount of assignments definitely distracted me and ever hurt my other courses. Take caution.
She is fabulous!!!! Best professor thus far! She is easy to listen to and tells great stories to put your career choice into perspective!
Ms. McAfee is a great professor! Though she is tough, most of the assignments are pretty easy and just time consuming. She really gets into details about what it's really like being a teacher. I would recommend her to everyone who wants to consider becoming a teacher.
a lot of work
Should've been an easy "A", instead, I'm barely scraping by with a "C-". The online software makes everything done, even using word incredibly difficult. There are a million assignments and they are all over the place. You are aloud one late assignment out of 63. The worst part is on most assignments you have to get 100% to get credit. I hated it.
Professor McAfee is AMAZING. She gives great insight into the teaching profession, and tells inspiring stories. If anything, she's made me want to be a teacher even more than I already did. She doesn't easily give away A's, but her directions on assignments are extremely clear so you know exactly what she expects. Take her if you can!!
Shes amazing! Just so you know, theres a required 15 hours of observation time in a classroom to pass. I didnt know that until i was there a week. Its hard to get into schools sometimes around your schedule. Have like 10 current event articles to do, 4 papers, and like 14 quizzes (kinda hard). Her stories are amazing. Shes genuine. strict but fair
She has strict policies but outlines everything clearly. Simple - DO YOUR HOMEWORK! She offers to accept one late assignment. She offers multiple extra credit opportunities. She responds to emails very quickly as long as it is not within 24 hours of assignment due date. Mandatory in-person orientation even for online students.
I took the 6 week course over the Summer. Prof. McAfee had a mandatory on campus orientation where she very clearly explained everything we needed to know to pass this class. However, getting the work done on time and keeping up with family and a FT job was a challenge. She does offer one Extra Credit assignment. Would take her class again!
Becky is an amazing professor and is always there to reply back to our messages. She is so generous and she genuinely cares. She even has MOLA which is my one late assignment.
Not very helpful or kind... knows her information but isn't quick to share. I wouldn't recommend this prof. Heavy work load if you do this class over summer
Not helpful, condescending, shows signs of not caring about students. Assigns crazy amount of work and doesnt allow anything to be turned in other than 3 specific assignments.
Do not recommend! Too much expected in the time provided. Online class is hard.
Online class is very student-centered, and feedback is given after the due date for the assignment. Students who submit all assignments before their due dates will almost certainly get an A in this class. Projects are very simple and are graded exactly as the rubrics say. Two or three extra credit assignments are also given.
A very simple course but her lack of understanding, refusal to communicate and overall condescending personality makes the course extremely stressful. Ive never had a professor make me feel so helpless and dumb when i ask for help. She would rather see you fail then to use adequate communication to help you. Dont sign up for any of her classes.
Great professor! Took this course online and it's very organized. She opened up the whole course so you can work at your own pace. Everything is easy to follow and when you need help she will give that to you just be sure to read that syllabus! Everything you need to know is on there and she makes that very clear! I do highly recommend taking this.
I took the online class. She has strict policies but outlines everything clearly. Simple - DO YOUR HOMEWORK! She offers to accept one late assignment. She offered one extra credit opportunity. She responds to emails very quickly as long as it is not within 24 hours of assignment due date. Mandatory in-person orientation even for online students.
McAfee is one of the rudest professors I have ever dealt with. I had a 100% in her class, and she did not clarify what time we had to submit the final online. By the time I got to it, it was locked and I took a zero on a final. I dropped to a B. She does not make any exceptions whatsoever and gets irritated when you ask her questions.
The teacher gives no help and says to refer to papers attached to the course for answers that aren't even on the papers she refers to.
I feel these reviews have been unfair. Simply put you attend the mandatory orientation and do the homework you get an A. If you are looking for a professor to baby you and cut you some slack, she is not the one; however, for a course this easy slack should not even be necessary. Just wouldn't take in the summer; while simple there is a lot of work.
I took the 8-week online course. All of the assignments were posted ahead of time, which allowed me to quickly complete everything. Most of the assignments are through an online program but she gives you unlimited attempts so it is really easy. All her tests and quizzes are multiple choice. She has one 50 point extra credit assignment.
This professor was amazing . Great class and very helpful .
People complain about Ms. McAfee but her class is relatively easy as long as you do your work. You pretty much take the class at your own pace. She has assignments due every Wednesday and Saturday. The final exam is open-book as well so her class is relatively easy.
I took this class over the summer. The class was an Easy-A if you keep up with the work. There are a lot of assignments since I took it over a 6-week period. I reached out to the professor and she was extremely rude over the email. There is an extra credit assignment at the end and my grade was good enough to not complete it.
She's great but get ready to do a lot of homework and read to keep up with your desired grade.
***WARNING*** There is a quiz that you must pass to stay enrolled in her class. If you don't pass it (30/30) by the due date, you will get a grade of WN and will still be charged for the class . Be cautious of who you pick for professors, you've been warned!
I took this class over the summer and it was a lot of work but there are so many assignments so if you miss one, it's not the end of the world. She is very clear about deadlines and what she expects, and responds to emails very quickly as long as its not within 24 hours of the due date. I would recommend her.
She literally gave me a W grade and u got out of her class ( which I need to graduate) because I didn't get 30/30 on a quiz ( I also tried the quiz like 10 times and I got 26.5)
Some complain about the first syllabus quiz bc you have to get a 100 but all the answers are there, it just takes time. I went into this course thinking I knew basically it all but it proved otherwise. You will learn a lot from this class, you just gotta work for it. Her grading criteria is super spelled out. Overall, I would recommend.
I think it was a blessing to have her as my Professor. When I had issues with the class, she was very open to helping me out and was very kind and respectful along the way. Even as I sat in a Zoom call with her having a breakdown, she was understanding and loving. You can do the homework as many times as you want to get a 100 and quizzes not hard.
So you would think that someone teaching a teacher certification class would know how to teach??? I've been a teacher in another state for several years before moving to Florida. I've seen good and bad teachers, but Prof. McAfee is the worst! So conceited and arrogant and talks down to students. She demonstrates what a teacher shouldn't be!
WORST, WORST AND WORST INSTRUCTION EVER!!!!! VERY RUDE AND BAD ON THE INSIDE! ALSO VERY RACIST IF YOU ARE NOT WHITE! she doesn't guide you or tell instructions clearly throughout the class you have to figure out everything by yourself and it's difficult also if you ask too many questions she will cut your grades on the assignment that she can.
Don't take, she will never email you back or help. Blames students for everything that goes wrong with the online system. Not a good teacher at all.
Good Lord did I hate this class. A) You will be buried in work. B) She will not care. C) Even if it glitches out? Still your fault. Oh, also, the class materials are a textbook with an access code, it has to be bought new, and it is mad expensive in comparison to other classes.
Don't take this class, i'm nearly two months in with the teacher, she's awful and gives too much assignments. Please don't make the same mistake as me.
There were at least 5-6 time-consuming weekly assignments, including quizzes. The instructions for projects were unclear making it extremely difficult to complete. This class has a ton of tedious work that you're not going to have time for. I would not recommend it.
Organized, grades quickly clear feedback.
The first two quizes had questions that were not in the reading. She basically said that I should google each question. This professor is asking you to go on a Internet scavenger hunt every time you take a quiz. You are never told what you answered wrong. This professor is a threat to your GPA. Avoid like the plague.
She's extremely racist. Demeaning someone for how they speak and using it to show a sense of power is probably the worst ways I've seen a teacher act within the first few weeks of class. Not to mention she's been called out multiple times for unprofessional behavior here, including racism. Do not take her class.
Very hard.
Mrs. McAfee if a tough teacher but her homework is relatively easy but tedious. I also feel that she is not understanding of the personal situations of students and sometimes feels like she does not really care about her students.
She is a nice woman sometimes, and definitely passionate about the class. Many classmates can agree her assignments are confusing and have poor instructions. Get ready to write, i've had to write more in her class than any other class. My biggest pet peeve is the fact that she always showed up to class past the start time, its disrespectful.
Honestly this was the easiest class I've taken so far. Some people are writing that there is “so much work” and “so much reading”. But honestly you don't have to read. The assignments are interactive making it easier to remember. She could be a little more clear on some stuff but she wants you to be creative. She offers extra credit. It was easy.
Absolutely horrible communication. Her schedule is not viable at all and has many random and pointless restrictions on emails, makeups, and submissions to the point where it isn't even worth considering doing anything about it. I'm very lucky I even passed considering how horrible she was.
The class has a lot of work, but if you stay on top of it and use resources like Unstuck study to help with study prep, you can do well. It's a challenging course, but the professor provides clear grading criteria.
A lot of work, but that comes with this course. You have one free card for a late assignment. I'm sure this class is not easy if you don't have some sort of background with technology, but especially on the Microsoft programs, the assignments she gives have pretty good explanations and there are YouTube videos for pretty much all of this.
