She's nice and her personalities are kind of cute, but she grades hard but she taught a lot of stuff and have other grade pullers. Essays bring you down. Read the books.

Becky is an awesome teacher. I took her for english 100B, EWRT 1A...and also Critical thinking. She is patient and very helpful. I had a hard time at the begining of her critical thinking class...but in the end i received and A. Very good teacher!!!

She is very nice. She is great a teacher. She is very helpful. You can always ask for help or make an appoiment to see her during her office hours. She is very clear. She doesn't give too much homework. Her quizzes are very easy. Just read and do the homework and you will be fine. Take her class!

Shes a great caring teacher. Teaches everything so clear, she goes over all the readings the next day, and help u put your essay together. I never talked in her class, but she treats everyone equal, very helpful. totalllly recommend her.

VERY EASY! easy and light homework. Its a pass/fail class and youd have to seriously be a moron to fail.

I suck at english and I suck at writting but she made it so simple and easy to understand. I like her alot and I recommend her. Great teacher. Gives very little homework and you don't have class that much on fridays

She is the best english teacher! She will answer your questions and help you on your essays. Quizzes are so easy and no test. She makes it fun and wants to help you pass her class and get good grade. 1A was so easy so take her if you want A. We didn't even have to come on Friday because she said not to come to class. She is so cool! Take her!

Super nice - willing to work with you and help out will all your papers. Gives advice when you need it. Quizes are sooo easy and she even lets you turn it late work with no point deduction. I wish i could take her for 1A! oh ya - and shes kinda hot...

Very clear and does not make class boring. Allows interaction with peers during workshops. Covers everthing on agenda on time and so she lets class out early sometimes. Will defintely help you if you ask. Gives a 10 minute break. Her class will definitely help improve your writing. Wish she taught EWRT 1A. Take her class!!!

I don’t care for English much but she wasn’t bad and didn’t force any random assignments. Do your reading, quizzes and online posts. 4 essays, and the final with an essay and 45min short answer. She’s relaxed and works through the readings in class to explain them. Ask her for help with essays if you need it, she’ll help.

It depends on what you're looking for out of the class. If it's an easy A/B/C then I would take her. If you're looking to learn about writing, she's not the best. She will tell you what's wrong, but not really how to fix it. As for treating students like high schoolers, why not? As long as she keeps grading easy it doesn't matter to me.

Our teacher became ill so Becky took over for the rest of Winter quarter 09. Becky is awesome. She makes the class enjoyable. She is willing to help those in need of it. I would highly recommend her

If you work hard, attend all classes, do your homework, write good essays, & study, an A would not be hard to earn. There are 4 quizzes (drops one), 5 essays (2 in class), 1 group presentation, & 2 essay revisions. I would not recommend this class to international students. She's a nice professor and pretty laid back. I would take her again.

Apparently, OP couldn't find authentic happiness D: ahaha. I took EWRT211 with Becky last year and had to come back for EWRT1A! She's hilarious, witty, and down to earth. Compared to most classes, this was a welcome change of pace that motivated me to improve my writing AND self. For sure wasn't expecting that out of an english class.

Mrs. Roberts is just an all around wonderful woman. As a teacher, she's very knowledgeable in her field of study, she caters to students in need of extra assistance, and her bubbly attitude towards life makes her class that much more enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend her class to any ELIT major.

Amazing, Amazing Teacher! She likes to give assignments that are self reflecting. She will work with you if you need it, and she is very funny!

Professor Roberts has really interesting lectures and always encourages class discussions on the books. She is very helpful and has a real passion for the subject she is teaching. Not a ton of work but there is a lot of reading (which is expected for a lit class), about 3 papers, and there are reading quizzes. Definitely recommend her!

Took her Fall 2014 and loved her class. She's funny, (love her laugh) and she helped me alot with editing my papers whenever I asked for it. Sometimes it did feel like we were in high school, but other than that, she is an awesome English professor. I recommend her if you're looking to fulfill your preparatory writing requirements before 1A.

If you want an easy A, take this class. It was easier than any of my high school classes. Unfortunately, I don't think I learned anything from this class. She makes notes on your essays, but she doesn't teach you how to make your essays stronger. Other than that, she is very passionate and makes the long classes bearable.

Pushed me to work harder. She has clear expectations and grading criteria, which is appreciated!

I took Roberts for both an English prep class and EWRT1A back last year and I have to say that she was a really wonderful teacher. She made the class seem super fun and kept us engaged with all the lectures. She assigns a ton of reading homework but she also gives great feedback on your essays (4-5 is the range). I definitely recommend taking her!

Becky is a good professor, and it can be difficult if you don't try in her class. In the beginning, I thought I might not do well, but when I started studying the course reader, and novel "Feed", I started to slowly climb up to passing this class. I enjoyed reading Feed, and the documentary she shared us in the beginning. I recommend her! :)

Well spoken teacher, very easy to work with and gives great advice to improve essays! Lots of work and a tough grader but if you put work in and pay attention you can get an A! Super nice teacher :)

This is my favorite online class I've ever taken, you'll love it if you love to write! Personally, I'm not the best writer but I've gained inspiration through the stories she assigns + she's very sweet and gives feedback on almost every assignment. It's an easy A if you put in the effort to complete the free-writes and week homework.

Becky's a great teacher for anyone who really cares about writing. The topics are super engaging and neatly wrap the technical/grammar side of things. Super understanding and sharp. Feedback on writing is really precise and thorough. I felt well guided through the whole course.

I took Becky's class my first quarter at De Anza. When i first saw the syllabus I was a bit intimidated but after being in class it changed my mind. As long as you show up to class and not plagiarize it will be an easy A! Check amazon for her books much cheaper.

This Professor was very good! Her class was interesting, and the lectures were entertaining. There is a good amount of work, but she grades it fairly, and you will learn a lot from it.

She is a really solid choice. Takes attendance 5 minutes after class starts. Class consists of lectures and discussions. I bought a text book and a novel for the class. My critical thinking improved a lot. I had three papers on different topics. Some reading is needed for quizzes, discussions, and final paper.

She's super nice and I marked attendance as mandatory b/c we have to attend 2 office hours but otherwise no lectures! I learned a lot about fiction writing in her class.

This class actually helped me out a lot! The workload is light and the essays are broken up into pieces and assigned individually as homework (like planning, intro, body paragraphs, conclusions, research, etc). So if you struggle with procrastination this would be a great class for you, because by the time the essay is due you've already done it.

Professor Roberts was pretty tough with grading. She does always have sympathy for her students. As you open up and communicate with her, the class will be easier. But if you don't reach out, then it's gonna be hard, so do your work in this class. Just as do as you are told, and she will be nice to you. :)

She is a very nice teacher. I am an English learner. She gives me a lot of confidence in the coursework through individual meetings and assignment feedback. I highly recommend her course. She is not a tough grader. As long as you follow the requirement, you will be alright.

Caring professor, responds quickly, gives lots of feedback. If you follow her directions, listen to the feedback, you will do well. Gives many chances for redemption, very understanding. High workload class (TONS of reading), no lectures. 2-3 assignments a week due Mon Wed Fri. 2 mandatory zoom meetings (check-in), 3 major papers (1000+ words).

Gives excellent feedback on assignments and has multiple office hours. Assignments can be graded a bit tough, but it shows that she does read the submitted assignments.

Professor Roberts is generally a nice person and her class wasn't that hard for the most part. Yes, you will have to write essays but she gives really good feedback and also responds to emails on time. If you just follow her guidelines along, you should pass the class with ease but she'll always be there to help you out whenever you need it.

My absolute favorite professor ever! This fiction writing class allows you to choose the level of criticism you want, making it perfect for beginners. Her feedback is 100% supportive and constructive, really lifting you up and helping you write better. She's intelligent and kind and the class if so fun. Totally manageable workload. Amazing!

Professor Roberts is a great person to learn from overall, but she is a tough grader, especially the essays but also gives great feedback in very specific areas. I recommend taking her classes if you really want to improve your writing, but if you just need a good gpa and grade, it may be a little harder than other classes.

Prof. Roberts is the definition of a sweet heart. Her lectures set you up perfectly for your essays and she does a great job pacing the class! The book she assigned was very interesting. She prepared me very well for my EWRT2 class. Although, she does have a track record of missing class a lot but you dont miss much as theyre on canvas!

She was an outstanding professor and had great lectures for students to understand and evaluate the material and the feedback from her was very helpful in writing future essays and in building my grammar.

Not sure why she doesn't have a 5/5 rating, she's an amazing teacher. She's very understanding and compassionate towards her students. I would say there is a lot of work but, it's doable as long as you don't let it all pile up for the last minute.

Ms. Becky is the sweetest! She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed, so I find her very helpful. Her class is a little works heavy, so keep that in mind. We work in groups almost every class, and we also get individual work time to work on assignments every class too. Overall she is very kind and caring :)
