This nutrition instructor is very helpful and very nice. Seems a little off subject sometimes but she enjoys teaching.

Very easy class as long as you go, no midterm or final, just easy projects. Begona is very polite, laid back, great sense of humor.
shes really passionate abt nutrition and you will learn a lot from her class. The tests were completely based on the notes. You will rarely need the book.
that class was too easy! you barely read the book and still trying to figure out why i bought it but it was with free money so who cares? that class was the easiest yet so whoever takes this class, go to class and you won't have to read your book!
GREAT CLASS. ENJOYED VERY MUCH AND LEARNED A LOT!!! GREAT TEACHER
Easy going teacher, gives simple quizzes and assignments. You hardly ever get any homework either. No midterm, and you get a take-home 'final' exam. Don't really need the textbook for that class, just take notes. Just make sure you don't talk while she's lecturing, or else she will lose her cool. Overall, very fun and interesting class.
she was cool even as a nutri teacher. it's hard if u don't show up so get up and go! she does pwer point so u don't need the book! don't waste your money!! especially if u don't have fin. aid!!
All of her lectures are power point presentation. She's really passionate about nutrition and encourages everyone to live on a healthier diet. She tries her best to be clear; she isn't discouraging. Overall she's pretty good, just make sure you pay attention in class and take notes and you're all good.
Ms Cirera-Perez is a very pretty and enthusiastic professor.Very passionate about health and nutrition. She definitely practice what she preaches as evidenced by slim and sexy figure.Uses PowerPoint during lectures. Her test aren't that hard.Study her lectures and you will be fine. She is willing to answer any questions you ask her.
She is extremely hard grader, miss one detail you will get -50%... late works are not accepted, except project which are -30% per day...
She is a good teacher, but the material is hard to understand all at once (new to me). I found the tests to be very hard even though I studied for hours! She is friendly, good looking, and pronounces words incorrectly (funny though). And I thought this class was going to be an easy A.... Oh, and you will have one group presentation.
She was my teacher in Nutrition.Despite of getting only a C,I did learn a lot from her. Then the following semester,I decided to take her Health 1 class. It was a lot easier. She was extremely helpful in this class.I got an easy A.You will learn a lot in this class as well. Her sex appeal was an added motivation =)
she was a very helpful and seemed easy teacher. it was easy to understand her. one problem was that she had too many students in her class. also eventhough you do all your work, you might still get a bad grade. overall shes a good teacher needs beter organization
She is a great professor who makes nutrition interesting and applicable to your everyday life. She is very clear in her teaching, organized and tries to make it FUN! She obviously practices what she preaches. I had a few issues with my grade - miscalculations. Keep track of your points & she will correct any errors on her part quickly and easily.
At first it seemed like it would be an easy class. it was. she didnt take attendance everyday because too mant students. in the end i was shocked that i recieved a D. she grades super hard. every single detail she corrects!
She was caring and passionate about the subject. She practices what she preaches, cuz she looks great! She's hot, and funny. She ws tough at times, but jst follow instructions and you'll b fine. Not as easy as I thought it'd be, but changed my life. If you want to become healthier for life, take her class and don't hope for the easiest ride.
She is great. Organized lectures. Will learn more if you are prepared. She makes it easy for you to follow. She is passionate and you can tell she loves what she does. I changed my major because of her class. Don't take this class if you aren't committed, you won't get a good grade. She is fun and easy to talk to. Answers all questions and polite.
Don't take this class unless you don't care about your grade. She's an OK teacher but grades extremely hard. Very nit-picky and not willing to work with the students. I went to her office several times but no help.
A lot of my Chabot instructors are great, bt this is my second yr here, and she is the best teacher I have ever had. She is always attentive, helps me when I go to her office, makes things clear & easy 4 me. Its nt an easy class, bt her passion makes me wanna learn more, so I'm still doing well. Take this class with her if u want ur life changed.
Great teacher. Knws her stuff. Passionate. Helpful. Easy class. Easy assignments. Easy instructions. She even puts lectures up online, so u can study from those. She only gives 1-chapter quizzes, so u never have to study 2 much material. If u dnt get an A in this class, u didn't wanna wrk much.
I took her online class and breezed through it. It was really easy. She was very helpful and replies to emails promptly and very clearly. She is really nice.
OK SHE SEEMS VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT SHE TEACHES, REPLIES TO EMAILS EARLY AND IS WILLING TO ANSWER Q'S AND IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE ON OFFICE HOURS.BUT BEWARE...NUTRITION CLASS REQUIRES ALOT OF STUDIYNG THIS IS NO EASY A CLASS HER TEST QUESTIONS ARE VERY TRICKY HALF THE CLASS DROPPED OR FAILED I VERLY PASSED.
She's awesome!!! She makes the class interesting. She is funny too, and I love how she pronounces some words. So cute. Even I'm getting a B, she challenges you to reach out for the best u got.
Took class & failed 1st time. I, frankly, wasnt doing good tht semester, bt even with an F, I learned a tone of great info. Took it 2nd time, I wanted 2 learn, so I got an A. She is super clear on what u need to do to get an A. Not super hard, but you gotta put in your hours. I appreciated her clear structure & fairness, straight-forward & helpful.
So, MAKE SURE YOU STUDY FOR THE TEST, because they are HARD. Also, most of her study guide questions are on her powerpoints, so if you can (she takes off the powerpoints after every class) make sure you download and save them from blackboard. Hated the group project that is assigned. Other then that she is pretty cool, really funny.
She expects u 2 act like a responsible adult, and many students need 2 grow up! She makes the material so interesting! She's passionate about her field. Her tests are hard, meaning, if u don't study, forget it! Dealing w kids during the group project sucked, but I learned 2 work in a group full of lazy ppl. Bt, it was gd practice for my work. lol.
She's an exceptional teacher, the best I've ever had. I can't believe the amount of ethical material tht I was introduced to in a nutrition class! It made me wanna change my major. She goes beyond the book. Every1 should take this class, work hard, and absorb all u can from her. All her lectures are worth getting up early for.
Online class was straight forward. When she wants something her way it has to be and shes quite strict and really rude about it. Project takes FOREVER to do. only 4 tests but very specific questions involving #'s. She expects us to take the test like its an in class one but how are we suppose to remember all of the specific #'s. lecture notes help!
Took her online class. I visited to her office and she was super nice and helpful. She is straightforward about what needs to be done, so no guessing there. She gave plenty of time for exams, much more than other online teachers. Learned a lot more than I thought I would. The book was very helpful too. Good class.
She's kind and willing to help. Just remember to study and read the chapters. As long as you take good notes you will be ok.
I just finished the 6-week summer class and it was HARD!! I thought i'd b much easier. She sounds strict, but if u meet her, she is super cool and helpful. the guidelines are clear, so No surprises there. Her notes r helpful. She is passionate, firm, and fun. Jst dnt try 2 play her for a fool bcuz she doesnt take that well. Cool class. Thanks Ms B.
I just finished the 6-week summer class and it was HARD!! She is super cool and helpful though. the guidelines are clear, so No surprises there. Her notes r helpful. She is caring, and fun. Jst dnt try 2 play her for a fool bcuz she doesnt take that well. Cool class. Thanks Ms B.
She inspires me. Great speaker. I'm glad I took her class. Every1 should have to take this class. Thanks, Ms Begonia!
Do yourself a study guide and you will be fine in the class. Her lectures are easy to understand because it relates a lot to our daily lives
Best instructor ever. I took class with her and i really liked her style of teaching.
She's a great teacher.Tests were not hard just read her notes and u should be good for the exams. Loved all the discussions. No HW assignments or pop quizzes.Food Analysis project was very time consuming. Also you have to do one group presentation. As long as you go to her class and turn in stuff on time it should be easy.
She is the most dedicated professor and most inspiring person I hav ever met. Super dedicated 2 helping others get healthier. EVen if u dnt do great, u get valuable lessons from her class. Love her teaching style. Her exams are not easy if u dont study, or u jst study the nite before, but other than that, everything in that class was worth my time.
I thought I new about health and nutrition before I took this class. Everyone should b required to take this class! I have gone through some horrible personal hardships this semester, and she has been super helpful and caring to get me through it. My other teachers, not so much. I did go to her office from the very beginning so she got to know me.
Pay attention in lecture so you don't have to study as hard. She makes lectures easy to understand and i loved that she applies them to every day life, so you can start seeing results right away, but at home studying on my own is harder, so I suggest that you go to class. She is very fair and treats everyone the same. Loved her easy-going approach.
Prof B. is great! Love her teaching style. She always helps me understand hard topics. Sometimes I wish i read some of the chapters befor lecture. Thats wht i suggest to everyone. I didn't study for exams much, but still passed, but many people didn't. You have to studey for this class if you want an A.
This professor is clear and fair, test are good enough if you study, if not then you will fail. I just find her grading fair and her lectures are mostly based on power points. There is no final, only 3 chapter at a time on each test. She takes attendance so make sure you are there. Hard work pays off in this class.
I took this class this spring. Ms. Cirera was really clear on what I needed to do to earn a good grade, so I just followed instructions. She was also helpful in her office hours, and helped me with anything I needed. She is really dedicated and fun, which is a plus. Her class made me reconsider, and change my major, from nursing to dietetics.
I took Nutrition this summer online, and it was a hard class, but I learned much more than I thought I would. I had to work really hard, but it was worth it. I emailed Prof. B. almost daily during the 6 weeks of class, and she always answered me really quickly. The class material was clear, her instructions were clear. She is great for Chabot.
Can be rude at times but it seems like she genuinely cares about making a difference in her students' lives, some class days can be boring but some days are interesting, learned a lot about good nutrition in her class test are multiple choice, not easy but not too difficult either
She knows her material. She is very funny, which is helpful. I had her for Health 1, so I knew tht she is nt from this country, and her sense of humor is kinda sarcastic, hilarious! she gives real life advice. she inspired me to lose weight and have so far lost 30 pounds since I met her for Health last semester, couldnt be more grateful!
I'm a freshman, & if half of my teachers were this good in high school, I'd be an honor student. Best teacher I've ever had. Intelligent, clear, passionate, inspiring, caring, helpful, funny, and all other gr8 qualities. Her accent makes me laugh even more! I didn't think I'd learn this much in a class ever.
OMG, I'd never guess Id learn so much in a nutrition class. I thought nutrition would be easy. I mean, whats ther to know about food? But, Ms B. opened my eyes to food politics, world hunger, GMO, pesticides, organic food, what toys to buy with low lead toxicity. The list goes on and on. Thank you, Ms. B for being THE BEST professor I have ever had
I both, hated & liked this class. Pro: You'll learn A LOT in this class & you'll use it in life. Changes your decisions on what you eat. Con: I hated the way Ms. B taught, she would get distracted & wouldn't finish the lecture. Tips: copy your notes from Blackboard beforehand & do the study guides. 4 tests, 1 project, & 1 group oral presentation
Great class. Great professor. You will have to work hard, especially if you have not taken chemistry, math, biology. She warned me at the beginning of class. Her lectures are clear, she gives you her notes beforehand, she will help u in her office hours, she tells you exactly what she wants. Well, she was super clear, I should have studied more.
I took the online first and it was harder for me. I forgot to do my work, and she wouldn't accept late work. Then I took the one in class. Much better! The students are really involved. She asks questions to test our learning. It kept me on my toes. She gave us her notes and study guides, how much easier could it get? Oh, I aced it the second time!
This was my first online course. She always helped me when I needed help, but only when I was specific about what I needed. The hard thing was that all instruction were written, so I had to read everything, and that became overwhelming. She also wrote announcements on Blackboard every week to clarify stuff, that was helpful. I liked the class.
I have been at Chabot for 3 years, finally graduating. I am an English major. This class was by far the most useful of my entire college career. Ms. B. is an incredible, passionate, helpful teacher. I always left class with my mind remodeled. No matter your major, if you care about your health, enroll. 4ever grateful. You changed our family's life.
This class was pretty cool. I'll admit that I wasn't too eager to sign up for the class, but I'm glad I did. Professor B is an awesome instructor. She's very passionate about her field, and it shows through her lectures. It may sometimes go off topic, but its enjoyable nonetheless. Only thing I can recommend to students is use blackboard for notes
This is an important class tht so many should have to take. I'm a business major, and had heard stories about how hard this class is, but I think it is just from people tht dn't like to work for their grade. I keep learning topics that I will use 4ever. Not 1 day wasted. Passionate & dedicated teacher. Win/win. Read the book, it made a difference.
Great class. Great teacher. Her passion was showing daily. Funny. Made the class interesting and gave tips daily to change your lifestyle right away. She preaches what she teaches. Assignments were clear, and helpful to learn. Her exams weren't super hard if you studied. Not my major, but I'm thinking of switching from nursing.
Took it online. Clear instructions, you just gotta read a lot cuz its online. I had some trouble with homework, so I went to see her and she was cool answering questions and everythin. I recommend her.
Probably the most intimidating teacher, that I haven't even got a chance to meet in person. Just reading her syllabus is ridiculous. I feel that students should be able to freely learn without being able to be timed during tests or feel pressured to get hw done in such a SHORT amount of time. She probably has the worst teaching attitude ever.
She does provide clear instructions. However, should a problem arise be ready to deal with her condescending and arrogant attitude. It's a shame she's the only Nutrition professor at Chabot. Why she takes a position to teach others when she so unapproachable is beyond me. It is undeniable that she is extremely knowledgeable but she lacks tact.
I took her online nutrition last semester and her instructions were super clear. I only had questions when I got tired of reading, and she almost instantly knew that was the reason! Then I found out that she was pregnant, and I stopped complaining about having to read and just read. It all got better after that! The class was great.
I never met this professor because the class was online, so it was hard to judge by her emails, but she always replied to my questions pretty fast, and clarified stuff. Her instructions were clear on blackbord. She seemed fair. And she seemed to b big on treating everyone equally, so don't ask for exceptions, just follow instructions.
really tough tests. you need to know everything or else. otherwise she's super nice and friendly. you'll get all the help you need
I took her online Nutrition 1 class for Summer '15. There was definitely a lot of homework and reading since it was a 6 week course. Professor was very clear on her instructions and provided really helpful tips and advice as a registered dietitian. I enjoyed this class a lot! You need to put in the effort, but she is an excellent teacher!
I took this class as a summer online intensive (6wks); that meant lots of reading (2-3 chapweek), detailed note-taking, and many BlackBoard discussions. Ms. Begoña is great because her expectations are very clear, & her exams come directly from the book, but mostly because she sparks your critical thinking with controversial nutrition questions.
Very hard teacher, grades unrealistically and class not organized, very messy! Don't ask for help because she is rude! The worst possible personality for a teacher... Should have stayed in the hospital where she used to work! The most hardest, unorganized and ridiculous class ever! Too bad she is the only Health instructor in Chabot College!
This is really hard class. Do not take online classes with her unless you don't have transport. The professor would give you a lot of homework, but what it really counts are the exams, so no matter how good is your homework, or if you completed all of the assignments if you get low grade on the tests you won't pass the class.
Her class is easy except long lectures and her test doesn't make sense at all. What we learn in class/notes doesn't relate to the test. All we did in class was to take notes and she doesn't even post notes online because she expects everyone to make it to class at any circumstances.
We had to do a project at then end of the semester and it was just a rush for all of the students. First, do the project and then show it to her. Second, she gives you feedback, and makes you do a lot of changes. Third, you do everything all over again. Yeah go ahead take the class if you want to work more than what you actually have to.
All of your grades are dependent on your exam. If you pass the exam, you pass the class . If you don't then you're going to fail. She is always late at grading papers and never go through questions to help out. Basically, she is just there to give notes. She doesn't not help not explain things. I recommend NOT to take her class.
I have taken her class before and from my experience, she is the most unhelpful professor. She does not grade based on effort, she grades based on her time/schedule. No matter how much time you put, even if you're a minute late, she will grade your paper. Expects us to know everything. Her exams are the worst thing ever! Do not take her class!!
Her notes are very long and you will spend your entire time in class writing notes. She will read notes off the board but you have to understand it by yourself. She doesn't help to explain it. Always grades harshly on projects and Never looks at how much effort you put, rather concentrates on turning it on time and depending on her schedule.
Don't take this class if you have bad study habits, & read the book. Got an average of Cs on my exams ONLY doing the study guides but that's my own responsibility. Think hard about what she'd want the answer to be on questions. Only 1 group project and my group and I researched and put it together in one night and got full points. Extra cred: Rare.
Absolutely loved this professor! Everything was explained so clearly that I only had 1 question the entire semester. She makes you work for it, but as long as you read the chapters and do the discussion boards, there's no reason you shouldn't ace this class! If you need a nutrition class I would DEFINITELY recommend this professor! Good luck!
SHES AWESOME TAKE HER! :) Her notes are always clear and easy to understands, tests are pretty easy, and there is barely any hw. Easy A
Although her class wasn't so bad, I didn't really enjoy her class. She doesn't really help you out if you have questions, which just leads you to not even want to ask anything. She gives off the vibe of not caring if you have other classes, she thinks her class should be your first and only priority. Make sure you do your diet analysis!
Worse prof. ever. Her exams I felt are nothing compared to the study guides. She just expects you to know everything, when she is being unclear. She doesn't care about the amount of effort you put into anything, if you turn it in late she will dock points. She isn't helpful, and seems like she doesn't want you to pass. It's all about her time/sch.
She's very inspirational although Lectures are very long and then it gets boring. Tests are hard and its very different from the lectures.
Great professor. Online courses are harder than I expected, but she is very clear and treats everyone equally. I almost dropped the class when I went to meet her and not only she inspired me to continue, I passed with the grade I wanted. worth my time and best effort. I recommend her if you want to learn, if you want an easy A, skip this class.
I am really glad that I didn't read some of the negative feedback from past students before taking this class. I couldn't say enof good about Ms. B. She was fun, helpful, easygoing and made me push myself to do better. Many simply don't want to work hard. If you don't get life changing info from her, you just weren't listening. She is my A+++ prof.
I truly enjoyed taking this class with Prof. B. She was able to inspire me to take better care of myself, and the health of my family has also improved. She knows her topic very well. Her lectures were organized, and she answered everyone's questions. She is fun, has a great sense of humor, but still professional when she needed to be.
She is excellent at her job and knows her subject well. Her passion for this subject is super contagious. She has a good sense of humor, which makes it much easier to go through the semester. Sometimes she should be harder on students that like to talk about their personal dietary issues, but she's too nice to say anything to them.
She's okay. It's an online class, so she gives way too much work than any teacher in class would. If you're taking her online, she emphasizes that you HAVE to have a minimum word count, so by the end you're literally making stuff up. She has trick questions online, and obviously can't help you or clarify the question.
Awesome professor, would definitely take this class again, if i had to do it all over again. I felt connected to this class.
Don't take this class if you don't have time to read all the chapters she require. Skimming don't work. She asks trick questions a lot. Doesn't give you answers to the exam after so you don't know which ones you missed. Work load is INSANE! she sounds super strict and uncaring on her announcements. It's the most difficult class I've had.
Looooooong and plenty of discussion board assignments, be ready to read and read and read, difficult exams and tough grader. Definitely not recommended. I took her last Spring 2016, her class alone (I took her online class) will fill your study schedule. Do not take her, believe me.
She seems to only want you to focus on her class. It is ridiculous, she doesn't care if you have other classes. Her hw assignments, & study guides had nothing to do with the exams. I found them difficult even though I spent hours studying. She also isnt there when for you, i was hit with "It is in the book," if I am asking for help its bc I need it
I took her online class, then face2face as I dnt do well online. I had no idea tht she was so nice & approachable. She helped me with anything as long as I didn't have questions last second b4 things were due. She didn't show answers 2 exams face-2-face or online, bt she would answer via email. made u work for ur grade. Dnt like super-easy classes.
Took summer online 4-wk class, maybe 5-wk? Super fast-pace. I had met her for health so I took her again, super fun & nice. She warned me! I saved 12 weeks of class, but it was very hard, as everything was compacted into those few wks. Not her fault, or it wouldnt b fair for the students tht take the 16-wk course for same credit. Got a FAST A!!!
She has been so helpful during this semester. I haven't done so well in exams, so she has taken extra time to help me with study tips, reviewing the study guides that she provides, and also began helping me with personal diet questions. Her syllabus and instructions are clear and she wants you to suceed, but you have to give it your best shot.
Her class is very difficult, probably for me harder than any science class I've taken. Her class demands a lot of time and her exams are very hard, not because of the questions itself, but due to the amount of time she gave; 1 min each question so you really have to know the materials. Tip GO VISIT HER DURING OFFICE HOURS! Willing to help with exam
I loved Ms. Perez. Sarcastic humor accompanied by a down to earth and realistic outlook for her class and students. If you work for it, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A or at least B. Fun class and would take her again
i really enjoyed my Health class with Professor Begoña. Really awesome! There is a lot of information... I do recommend becoming efficient in typing. As with any class, if you work hard you can learn a lot.
Discussions are easy but if you miss ONE (out 25) you automatically get half points for your total participation at the end of grading. Some of her exam questions don't make sense and on multiple occasions I've found wrong answers. I have emailed her and she adjusted my grade, though I can't say the same for my other classmates.
She KNOWS her stuff! She is very passionate, ask a question & she has the answer! She provides power points, but you should still read the book. Tests are slightly difficult. We had a huge group project due at the end of the semester, luckily I had a great partner and topic. But she provides a few E.C. opportunities @ the end of the semester too!
Online class. Do not take it! You'll have an easier time taking organic chemistry. This should be a 4 unit class. Study guides have nothing to do w/ the tests. The questions on the test don't totally go with the assigned reading. This class will consume all your time so take it by itself. AND take it w/ somebody else if you can,
Don't take this class online. Lots of textbook work that has nothing to do with the exams. Really strict, especially for an online class
The class online is easy, but I had to change my study ways. I flunked my first exam thinking having the book next to me and the internet would be enough. then I asked her how to study, and she said to study as if I were taking the exams in class, without notes. That worked like a gem. Also, do all your discussions and you get 25 points attendance.
Gave really good lectures and would check my completed study guides if I emailed her a few days before exams. She'd also check my notes to see that I didn't miss anything. She really wanted me to do well, and made sure people were following along in class by asking lots of questions. I really enjoyed her teaching style. Thumbs up!
Online class is the worst I have ever taken, and I have taken at least 10. Exam guides do not help, literally have to read the entire textbook to found some side note answer. Too strict, and yes, the Q's on the exam are poorly constructed (A LOT OF TRICK QUESTIONS). Also, miss 1 discussion and you're done.
Just finished online nutrition class with her. My first exam was bad, then I decided to carefully answer all the discussions and go overboard with the study guides, including adding where I got my answers from the textbook, and that changed my entire grade around. I went from a C at the beginning of the semester to an A at the end, LEARNED SO MUCH!
This is by far the worst online class, or class in general that I have taken. You have to read every single thing in the chapters to do well on the discussions and exams. Study guides don't help whatsoever. SO MANY TRICK QUESTIONS. So much work to be a 3 unit class. Would not recommend her class.
It's not that bad if you read everything like literally everything. The professor requested version 14 but some of the questions on tests and discussions were apparently also from version 13 so if you want to do well in this class you probably want to cover all of your bases or else you will not get the score that you want to get.
TIPS TO PASS. Read specific chapters before test. Right b4:split your screen(if able to) Big screen, two little screens, BIG SCREEN w test. and use a tab to add text book. one little screen w/ study guide (put page numbers where to find certain things on study guide) One other little screen w google to copy and paste question. HONESTLY WILL HELP!
Took online version last spring. Very clear where the points came from, due dates. Weekly discussions instead of being inclass. Helped me via email whenever I had questions. Helped me in her office when I needed more detail stuff, like reviewing my work and completed study guides. Very cool teacher. Wants you to learn. Expects you to study.
do not take her class!
I liked this class, she is stricter than any professor I have had to date. She doesn't allow for skipping around on a test, once a question is answered there is no going back to it, or coming back to a question that you might not know. Her feed back has been positive and it was very much appreciated. Made me she takes interest in her students.
I was having a hard time in her online class. half way through the semester I went her office. She was very helpful. She gave me tips to study. we went over my exams, and she kept checking up on me during the semester. She also reviewed my completed study guides. If I hadn't asked for help, I would have earned a C. Instead, I earned an A. Thank u!
Her online class is very well laid out and clear. No guessing. She even MAKES you read the syllabus because you have a syllabus quiz. She follows her syllabus rules to the T. So, she treats all equally. There are weekly discussions, and you can miss one week of discussions and be fine. No late work, which I appreciate. She made me feel cared about.
Just finished this really tough semester. Prof. B. was the most understanding professor I had, even though I never got to meet her in person. Best lessons learned about nutrition and health ever. Super worth it. She really helped me all semester. I couldnt be happier. Thank you, Prof. B.! Her class is hard, but I would take her again.
Health 1 online has lots of info. She makes you read the chapter with weekly questions about the topics in the book. If she didn't do that, I would not have read half as much, and I would not have learned half as much either. I am very gladI took the class with her. She made it challenging, so I didn't get bored, and learned life-long lessons.
Nutrition is a really interesting class. I ended up changing my entire diet & now I'm stronger than ever in my sport (running). I loved her lectures. She is very passionate & dedicated. She gives you grades back within a week, which I really appreciated. The poster session was also a great addition to the class. Loved her & her class. Thank u Ms B
Health 1 was pretty easy, compared to chemistry and physiology all during the same semester. I enjoyed the weekly readings and questions. Some questions you had to answer directly from the textbook, others, you could give your own perspective, which was a nice balance. Would take her again. She was helpful when I needed clarification.
I had the best experience with Professor Begona. You truly do learn a lot. Shes really clear on her lectures and also very clear on what she expects from you as a student. She does not allow make up quizzes/hw/test, etc. and though her tests are pretty difficult (multiple choice but tricky choices) she does throw out a few questions.
Loved her! She was caring. She wanted you to pass better than a C. She was enthusiastic, supported me when I needed help. She wanted you to learn the subject. Just two days ago, she emailed me to tell me that she was giving me a B instead of the C that I earned bcuz I submitted all the assignments, exams/quizzes, and she saw my potential! Thank u!
OMG, I could keep talking about how awesome she was and how awesome her class was for me and my family. The entire semester I kept learning more and more. I had a baby during the semester and she REALLY was helpful so that I could finish the course. She is caring and wants you to give it your best. Highly recommend her.
Took her last semester (Fall 2018) online. She was very clear with what needed to be done weekly, textbook was cheap, which is a real plus for me, class was super interesting. She helped me whenever I needed her help. Fast grader, didn't leave me hanging waiting for grades. I would take her again.
Took her online Nutrition course and learned so much from her class. She is very understanding & wants you to learn & pushes you to learn more than you already know. Her discussion work is very simple, just read the entire chapter and answer the questions. You receive your grades back almost instantly so you know what grade you always have. Great!
I took her online class. She asks for so much in the discussions. Her study guides are nothing related to the exam. She doesn't count points for your discussions, only the tests. If you don't do good in the test then you won't pass.
Taking her online class and she really asked for a lot. 2 discussions some weeks and some many questions to answer. Her test are also difficult and she has a lot of tricky questions on them. Even though the subject is interesting she is pretty difficult.
Online classes are usually more work so I understand and am familiar with it but this professor was just too much. She expects 2 discussion posts a week and is so exact about how she wants her posts. She wants you to include your word count and page numbers of where you get your information on every ? for every post. Unnecessary extra work.
The discussions are not hard. A bit lengthy, in terms of how many questions there can be, but not hard at all. They help in the later quizzes/exams. Dont expect your grade to be curved... had an 89.6% and I missed an A in the class by 2 points/1 question which hurts my GPA and odds to get in medical programs :(
I took her for summer nutr 1 and she was amazing. Not only this was the class that I have ever learned the most, ever, and that I will use the learning for my entire life, she was attentive, caring, kind, and responded quickly to my questions. She sent announcements constantly 2 remind us to do our work. Discussions were meaningful. Big thumgs up.
Prof. Cierra-Perez has been the best online professor I have ever had. I wish I had taken her face-to-face course, but I earned the grade I wanted this way too. She returned my emails promptly. She helped me catch up. She was flexible and caring. Her discussion questions made you think and research, and ultimately helped you learn the material.
Ms Perez was my professor for Nutrition this summer. She was the best online instructor I have had. She was very accomodating to my needs. Her class was very well organized. She emailed us many times a week. Discussions helpedl to study. In a way, they forced me to read the chapters in depth, which sometimes I wouldn't have done. Thumbs up 2 her!
Took this class in the summer and it was definitely a lot of reading and participation but she explains that it is fast paced due to summer. Meaning 3-4 discussion a week alone with 3-4 assignments due the week as well as a test. I learned alot in this class I just needed to put in effort like any other college class. Take good notes!
Prof. B. was my online Health instructor this summer. She was helpful, caring, knowledgable, and always emailed me back within hours of contacting her. I learned a tone from the class topics that she chose. More than I expected. She sent several emails a week to keep us connected. I would absolutely take a course with her again.
She is a outstanding and exceptional professor anyone can have a Chabot. Very down to earth, overall just a caring person.
Prof. B. helped me from the very beginning of the semester. She listened and then helped me resolve my issues with the class. She was very accomodating and so easy to talk to. I decided to go to her office and meet her after the class was over. She was even more pleasant in person than as an online instructor. It didn't surprise me. She's great.
Prof B. shows her passion when teaching. This is the third course I've had her. I was convinced she was knowledgeable when taking her Intro to Nutrition course, then her Nutrition for Human Performance. Consistently caring towards us, funny, personable, it makes the learning bearable. Health is easier, but still keep learning. I'd choose her again.
My previous degree is in history, I am now preparing to go to nursing school. Prof. B. is hands down the best teacher I have had in college, and university. She knows her subject, she is really funny (which makes the time a lot easier to pass), she is super passionate, and you can tell she loves to be in class. What else can you ask for?
Took her health 1 online. It's an easy course. She had weekly chapter reviews that helped me prepare for exams. A couple of reports, & 4 exams. I took her nutrition 1 in class. She's a person that you want to see face-to-face. She's caring, passionate & funny. I just couldn't make her schedule 4 this class, so took her online. She's gr8 online too.
Each week, we had to read 2-3 chapters. Each chapter came with questions that we had to find the answer to in the book and post online. We had a total of 4 exams, each covering 2-3 chapters. You will spend a lot of time on the readings. I suggest doing the practice tests at the end of each chapter. Not difficult to pass, just a bit time consuming.
Loved this class and loved Prof. Cierra. She was inspirational to me, as I get ready to apply for medical school. I never wanted to miss class. She made it fun and interesting. She always helped me whether in person, or via email, with any help that I needed. I highly recommend her and any of her classes.
I took this course in 2017. I liked the way she lectured. She made class interesting. The course covered a lot of information so I would recommend to attend as many lectures as you can. She did require a textbook but we barely used it. She grades you mainly on test, quizzes & projects. Shes understanding & caring. I would take this course again.
Dropped me from the class and didn't bother replying to any of my emails. I wasn't available to take the first quiz but could have still made an A in the course, I wasn't allowed to make it up, and I wasn't allowed to re-register for the course.
Took this class online. Thought it would be ok since the the Prof had high ratings. Maybe this class would of been better in person. Tests were hard you really had to know your text book. Discussions and replies are word counted. You really have to self teach yourself and emails I sent to her never replied back.
I needed this class for nursing. Due to C-19 I ran in2 issues w my landlord & had to find housing while working & taking classes. I was very open w her & nt only she's the most encouraging & caring professor I hav ever had, she helped me get $$ 2 pay bills & helped me apply 4 financial aid! She saved me BIG. Tht alone makes me want 2 take her again
In her online class, I got bombarded w emails from her. Even if I tried, I couldnt forget due dates. She emailed me several times a week to remind me. I have taken other online courses, & if I forgot due dates, & it was on me. She even helped me get a loaner laptop when mine died. The info in the class is awsome. She noticed my efforts. Really gr8.
My 1st impression was "a lot of work", but I took nutrition b4 w Prof. Grillo, & Prof. Perez was totally easier. I learned about the same w both, & they both seem really nice, but harder exams w Grillo, 4 sure. I'd recommend Ms. Perez as an easier option, but still not so easy that u dont learn anything.
We had written reports that were not too hard, but made me read and review the chapters. The exams were not too hard, but you did have to prepare. All in all, I learned a lot from her class, when I thought I knew most of the stuff. She was very helpful when I had questions and gave the class good feedback about exam results. I'd take her again.
Nice, but tough grader. Work load is very heavy and tests are not easy. Lots of reading.
I feel like this teacher is trying to trick the students and aiming to test if you read the textbook line by line. She tried to make things so complicated and confuse student in the exam. Some of the questions in the exam are not covered in the study guide and she will fake you to read something else. Really a non-sense teacher.
I took her summer class, and it was sooo much work. More than a usual teacher would give. She is a sweetheart and down-to-earth, but she was giving like 2 weekly chapter tests and discussions every week. I would not suggest if you have a busy schedule, as this class will take up a lot of your social life. Very kind teacher tho, just lots of work.
I took her 4-week summer Health 1 course. The content was easy. She kept me informed constantly. Almost daily, she would send messages to remind me of what was due, or whatever. She really did a great job at being clear of what I needed to do to pass the class in 4 weeks. Will take her for nutrition this fall. Solid choice.
I took this prof for health last year. I failed because my reports werent to their standards. You have to reply to at least two students on a discussion post & it has to have a certain amount of words. Grades hard. A lot of work for an online class
Nutrition 1 ONLINE. Lots of work, but very straightforward work--read chapter, answer 20 questions, test, repeat. Your whole grade is based on 600 points, so every exam weighs a lot. Most of her exam questions are on Quizlet soooo... yeah. She cares that you really understand the topic, though!
I will never take her class again. She does not consider if you fail your exam. I have answered all the discussion she posted, I never missed those things. She will give you a lot of work load. I just did not do well on exam. I wasted my time. I should not choose her in the first place. I already have the feeling.
This is an easy course (can't compare it to chem). But, I still had to do the work. Work was easy. Instructions were clear. She sent MANY announcements to remind me to submit work before it was due. She even told us were to get free food, how to apply for financial aid, how to get free laptops, and how to register to vote. My other teachers didnt.
Took her during the semester. It's a doable class but the tests are not easy. I read through the whole textbook, took line-by-line notes and read everything in the homework and still scored "decent" on the tests. There are things she test that are not in the textbook. I got a good score but hey, I wish she tests fairly. The workload is doable.
I had a great experience with Professor Perez. Due to covid, our class was moved to online and she was prepared and organized. Exams were pretty tough because the answers were missing from the textbook.. but overall, shes sweet, gives good feedback, and is pretty understanding.
Just finished the semester. This class was harder than I thought it would b, bt I would take any class w Prof. Begona any time. She is amazing & knows her stuff. She cared. I admit thtt I slacked at the beginning, yet she saw I had it in me & pushed me to do better, & instead of dropping or failing, I ended with a B. THANK YOU for believing in me.
Mrs B is super nice. She listened to all of my problems in Zoom meetings & emailed me when I missed a couple of assignments. She REALLY wanted me to pass the class & do well. She'd send me really inspirational emails that would pump me up & I ended up w my first A ever. She's very caring & wants everyone to pass. I wish she taught more classes.
Took her summer nutrition class. It was super fast. She was amazing at keeping up. She sent us emails at least 4 x week, and cheered us to get our work done. The book was FREE! She gave us study guides, extra credit at the end, which saved my grade! I had weekly Zoom meetings w her at night that showed me hw much she cared and wanted me to suceed.
I took Mrs P before for Nutrition 1, & I learnd so much more than I ever thought I would in any class, tht I wanted to take her again for Health 1. Again, she blew my mind w the amnt of amazing info tht she added to the class. I knw other professors dnt add as much info, bt I now knw more than expected. She also bumped my final grade!
Mrs Cirera was empathetic to my needs. The class was tough, bt nt so tough tht I couldnt hang. She taught me lots of hands-on info tht Im using to get my family into the right path to a healthy life. That info is priceless in my opinion. U don't take a nutrition course not to learn about how to change your diet right away. The hard wrk paid off.
horrible. absolutely horrible, i’ve never wanted to drop out of a class so bad. she has not responded to my emails about her making an assignment incomplete, her class is an absolute nightmare, sometimes she will assign over 90 questions a week and the tests don’t barely correlate to any of the assignments.
I took this professor because she had a good rating but let me say she makes her tests very difficult by wording them weird along with her chapter reviews. She mainly grades off exams.
Great and kind lady but horrible class. Tons and tons and tons of busy work! LIKE AN INSANE AMOUNT. Her exams are ridiculously difficult and she makes them tricky. If you are considering this class consider another professor because this class will have you dying, work is due at 7:50 pm. one of the most difficult classes I have taken for sure.
do not take this class, shes nice but the class sucks. work is due at 7:50. if you want to have joy left do not take it
It's so hard 2 judge a person tht I hav never personally met. Prof. Cirera seemed 2 be nice from the start. Her guidelines were straightforward, & I didn't feel lost in the online class. Half way through the course I met her & she was 100x nicer than I expected. She went further than any college teacher ever has to help me. Caring & resourceful.
I should have listened to the reviews and wish I would've AVOIDED her. For it to only be a 3 unit course, she gives an INSANE amount of work. Not only that but she also makes her exams very difficult. They're made to confuse you and the study guides are useless as most of the content on them isn't even included in the exams.
Very kind professor but gives a ton of homework (that's due at 7:50pm) and the course requires a ton of studying. Her tests are difficult but her grading policies are straightforward. She's always available and open to answering students' questions.
I took Nutrition 1 this Spring. It was an EYE-OPENER. I totally enjoyed the class, the readings, & her professional videos which were better than many of the lessons in the book. I also appreciated tht she offered a free textbook, & always answered my questions right away. We had Zoom video meetings to help me, & tht was great. Will take her again.
Prof Perez was incredible. Her lectures, even during a pandemic & with masks on, were the reason I wanted to get out of bed to go class. She is SO passionate in class! She threw questions at us that I had never, ever considered. She kept me on my toes & everything I learned was life-changing. Her videos are awesome, & use them 2 help my family too.
AWESOME class. Awesome professor. Her questions for chapter reviews REALLY make you do the reading and not skip material, which I'd do if it wasn't for those. Her videos are so helpful! She obviously cares and takes her time to help you. She will late you submit work late, but don't make a habit of it. All the info was life-changing. 2 thumbs up.
I took NUTR1 during the summer. It was SO fast. Only 4 weeks. She was outstanding. Clear. Always checked up with us to make sure we were keeping up. It was fast work, but without it I wouldnt have felt like I learned anything & would have wasted my summer month. Her videos were SO helpful! Caring. She wants everyone to be healthier, and it shows.
Are you looking for a professor who gives tons of unnecessary work load? Or a professor who gives homeworks/assignments who are very demanding on the requirements? Well look no further because this professor is the right one! I think this professor is not concern about some students outside life because of the work she requires!
AVOID TAKING HER! HER HOMEWORKS SHE GIVES OUT RIDUCULOUSLY PLENTY OF F... WORK LOADS. HER ASSIGNED WORKS ARE SO TIDIUS, SPECIFIC, TOO MUCH DETAILS! IM SURPRISED THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL TAKING HER CLASS! SHOULDVE LOOKED AT THE REVIEWS FIRST!
Ridiculous amount of work, discussions have a lot of questions to answer with a specific amount of words. Reply to your classmates also need a specific amount of words.
Ridiculous amounts of work every week with "chapter reviews." There's at least 2 a week and if you miss within the whole semester one then you loose half the points for that portion of your grade. She seems nice enough, but the work is just too much.
The professor is really nice and the course is really good and has lots of good information. My only thing is she gives a lot of work but its not hard but can be stressful if you have other difficult classes. Other than that she is really good.
bad proffesor, she gives out wayy too much work way too many readings
Too much homework combined with weird turn-in times can make it hard to keep up. The most critical point is that if you can't keep up with the progress, you will definitely be dropped. Very horrible experience.
I wouldn't enrol in this course again because the professor is quite strict on homework grades and would give you a zero for even the smallest error.
I like Prof Cirera-Perez. I took the late start class where a whole semester worth of work is condensed into 9 weeks. I'm not a fan of the homework structure; there is just so much reading and answering questions. She cares for the students and wants them to succeed. She has strict timelines for turning in work. But a great professor nonetheless.
Gives so much work and claims we can email her and its just a lie she does very little to help students. Her study guides are useless like her. Please choose another professor. She gives way too much work and her lectures are horrible she makes you read an entire textbook and repeats it in class. I hate it and only stay since I'm almost done.
I do not like this professor at all. She says she is reachable via email, but never responds to any emails. Her test questions are often not reflective of the course material that she assigns, and she does not allow you to view which test questions you got wrong after an attempt, thus preventing you from learning from your mistakes.
Ridiculously overly complex discussion criteria.
This teacher gives ALOT of hw and test. There are about 3-4 chapters, each chapter has about 40-50 questions that you have to answer. They are all due at the same time! As a mother of three and full time worker, theres no way I have time to do it within such a short time frame. Basically she doesn't want to give you a life out of school and work.
Her workload is crazy, the grading style is frustrating and makes it difficult to know what your grade is and there are no late submissions allowed on any of the chapter reviews you submit, even though it takes her a long time to grade them. Expect close to 100, sometimes 200 complicated questions a week, along with tests.I Regret not dropping.
!!!READ THE REVIEWS!!! DONT GET FOOLED BY THE POSITIVE 4.0 RATING!!!!
I like this professor, all her videos are outstanding! the only thing i didn't like is that i wont know my grade if i'm failing or passing until this semester is over
Just finished spring semester of my nutrition class with professor Begona Perez and I must say i love all her videos and lectures! As long as you do your work on time you will be fine
If you take her online courses, she gives you a ridiculous amount of questions TWICE weekly. One assignment was 65 questions and another was 50. Totaling out to about 115 questions WEEKLY. This does not include the essays and the exams. I also asked to schedule a meeting with her on various occasions and was ghosted throughout the semester.
THE REVIEWS ABOVE ARE CORRECT.
Complete overwhelming experience. All reviews below are true. Way too much work, even for a regular semester class, not to say a summer class. I think professor should seriously reconsider how much workload is appropriate for an introduction class. The only positive thing is her videos are helpful.
So upset about an online course. This lady expects you to spend 36-48 hours a WEEK in this course. I emailed her and asked if she could release the following week's HW early so I can do HW on weekend (Ex: Fri instead of Mon night, and she emailed "GREAT IDEA". SHE PROCEEDS TO GHOST ME AND DOES NOT RELEASE UPCOMING WEEKS WORK. Would not take again.
I took Prof. Begona online, she was a tough grader and expected you to put so much time into her class and assignments. Often, what she would ask on her assignments wasn't in the textbook, and she always expected you to know. I emailed her asking a question once, and she replied that I should know the answer by now. Her quizzes and tests are hard.
she's a good instructor overall
This class is a lot of work, but the videos are helpful. Using unstuck ai along with the textbook can make it more manageable. Overall, a challenging but rewarding experience if you stay on top of things.
She gives way to much work, and expects you to finish it within a week. She's a hard grader and constantly sends messages on canvas making the work even harder. This was the worst experience ever I passed the final exam and somehow still failed the class. Her grading policy is very weird and when I told her to repeat her grading policy she got offended
It's too much work and after every exam, the correct answers are hidden so I don't know what I got wrong. This class gives me more workload than biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physiology combined.
This class was during an 8 week period and mainly online, so there was a decent amount of workload each week however you are given a week to finish very easy to answer questions. Tests were open notes from my experience, making exams easier. Professor has firm criteria, but not super difficult to follow. Overall, a very informative and easy class.
This professor does not read messages on canvas. If your assignment is missing 1 thing on the entirety out of the checklist you need to do, it would be marked as incomplete. Be extra careful, when doing assignments.
The class is easy; however, I don't understand why this professor is being paid since we spend 85% of the time just reading from the Canvas platform textbook. She is very sweet and was helpful at the start of the semester. However, be aware that you won't have access to any of your grades until the very end of the semester.
