this guy is totally clueless. A real laugh riot.
knows his stuff, and if you do the hw you'll be ok, he is always at school.
I really like Mammo. Only math teacher to make me laugh in class. He gets very excited about the material and has an infectious attitude. If you have to take calculus 3, I would go with Mammo. His accent is a little out of this world, but not impossible to deal with.
The guy is a funny and engaging professor. He obviously cares about his work, and that means that if you don't understand something he won't go on until you do. Only problem is that he hasn't entirely broken the language barrier yet. No matter though, I woould recommend him.
Oh Mammo. Funny guy but you're mostly laughing at him, not with him. When it comes to speaking you need subtitles to understand him but his notes are straight from the book so you can just follow along. The course was called math with computers but we weren't acutally allowed to touch the computers. Easy class. Almost no homework. I recommend it.
Mammo is really sweet and I did like him; he made the class super easy. But he wasn't that great at teaching. He would make mistakes and his accent is kinda funny. Class was a bit boring sometimes and kind of dragged because he would go so slowly. Overall, though he's a realy nice guy, if you want to learn and be on top of things, don't take him.
Mammo is an awesome professor. I really like his organizational skills and the time he spent so that we can understnd the stuff better.
Great teacher. Gives very fair quizzes and exams. Always makes himself available during office hours and even after his official hours. Willing to work with you and really cares for you to do well. Questions you may have in class may not always be answered but I feel it's much better talking to him 1 on one. Must have for this course.
Mammo is an excellent professor. I did very well in this course primarily because of his encouragement and help. If I have to take a math class, I will definitely take his.
Eventhough I started this class with some indifference, the way Prof. Mammo teachs the class makes me rethink about my attitude. So far, the class is smooth...But I have a feeling that he is demanding!
Mammo is the best math teacher ever. He is attentive, learns all of his students' names, and knows how to teach math--he even lists the teaching of mathematics as one of his research interests. Take him.
He is a great professor. At the beginning of the semester, i thought he was slow but he is really good with his material. he is very willing to help you. good office hours and will extend them for you. i am taking a math class i need with him next semester and i know i will be in good hands. great professor. just disregard his accent, who doesn'
Prof. Mammo is one of the best professor professors I have ever had. He genuinely cares for his students, and he provided us with all the necessary resources!
Mammo is an excellent professor. He is very nice and very clear and wants to make sure that every single student succeeds in his course. I have taken him for 2 classes at Hofstra and have yet to find a better professor.
I really liked this class. Professor Mammo made it fun. Just attend the class regularly and you are guaranteed an A or A-. It's worth taking class with this professor. You won't regret it!
Awesome professor. Really connects with his students, and is always willing to help out. Makes class fun, but teaches it very well also. Definitely take him if you can. Probably the most enjoyable professor I have had.
Mammo is one of the awesome professors I have ever had. He truly cares about his students and provide us with helpful resources which help us learn the material better. I wish Hofstra had many teachers as devoted and talented as he is.
Dr. Mammo was by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He is not only a fantastic Math teacher (and lets face it, those aren't easy to come by) but he genuinely cares about you as a student. He wants you to ask questions and he is always available for extra help, you just have to ask! DEFINATELY take him, he's awesome!

He is a really nice guy, but teaches as if everyone already knows the material. If you don't do that well on the tests but show him that you are really trying he will work with your grade. Attendence is mandatory.
nice guy, cares about his students, but painfully boring which makes it hard to attend this class. apparently he's the only professor who teaches 3 chapters instead of 2 plus he's so confusing. if you can deal with all that, you'll get a C+ or above.
He is very good!
an excellent professor!
I was totally dreading this class but he made it pretty easy. His accent is a little bit of a challenge to deal with, but overall, he teaches very well and makes sure his students are keeping up.
best and cutest teacher ever! he makes it impossibe to do bad! you can bring a 8x11 piece of paper to a test with formulas and whatever you want on it.
Great guy who really cares. Wants his class to do well and is very clear. Homeworks aren't graded, but do them because the test will be very similar. You can bring some notes to the test as well.
He's an ok professor. Wasnt the greatest and wasnt the worst. Just average. Class was interesting, but be careful on exams. He likes to play tricks which isnt cool.
Knows how to make difficult concepts simple. He is a genuinly caring professor. It is the second time to take the course with him, but I found him consistently terrific.
Professor Mammo was a great professor! I have no interest in math and took it because I needed it. I've never gotten As in math, and I did on the first two exams. He's incredibly helpful and wants you to do well. The last test is the hardest so STUDY HARD FOR IT-he does it purposely. Just participate and work hard and you'll do well!
Math is not my thing. His passion for teaching made me like the subject. His notes are excellent and he takes his time to make things understandable.
He is funny and down-to-earth friendly.Tests are hard and sometimes very tricky. You have to take his notes and study them CAREFULLY in order to do well on tests.Don't have to read the book. It's only for doing homework
he is a really great teacher. he's very friendly and helpful...if you ask questions then he will love you! the quizzes and tests can be a little trcky but he'll help you as much as he can before the exam. Take him!
So good at teaching calculus, I have never taken a calc class in my life but after one semester, i know exactly what im doing! TAKE HIM!
GREAT professor. He cares so much and he's great at teaching. It's a difficult class and he moves a little fast, but it's not his fault he has to get through all the material. If you tell him you don't understand something he'll explain. Be prepared to put in the effort. I wish I could have him for all my math classes!
Best math professor ever. As long as you do homework, you'll be fine. He loves teaching and wants everyone to learn. He has an accent, but write everything he says on the board in case you can't understand him. He loves what he's doing all the time. He is very funny and loves to talk about Ethiopia. Easily the best math professor at Hofstra.
Great professor! Extremely helpful when it comes to assignments! I would definitely take another class with Prof. Mammo!
Best math teacher I had. Never gets frustrated with class and will answer any question completely until the questioner understands. Makes it very easy to ask questions even if you think they are silly questions.
awesome professor!!!! will always take time to explain things and answer questions. funny, intelligent, kind, understanding. neat accent. best teacher here so far. take him!!
AMAZING!
Mammo is amazing. He is a great professor. He knows his material well and will take his time explaining things to the class. his grading is very fair and he does give extra credit on quizzes and tests. best math teacher i've ever had. he is a great guy. i recommend him to all!
Although the calc class is a difficult class to begin with, Mammo makes it very fun. He is a great teacher if you have some idea of what to do (if u dont u shudnt take calc II to begin with). He grades pretty tough, but it isnt hard to get an A
Teacher is fair, intelligent and understanding. Makes the course fun and exciting and is extremely helpful.
the greatest prof ive EVER had! this is the 3rd class ive had with him, always take his class over anyone else's. he is amazing. funny, down to earth, friendly, passionate about math. genuinely cares & wants you to understand, would rather that than give a bad grade. greatest math experience ive ever had. if you get the opportunity, TAKE HIM.
GREAT professor. Makes the classes laugh out loud constantly in an otherwise long, boring class. He is very passionate about the subject and very helpful, but tends to be very picky and strict about partial credit on tests. Does his best to help his students due well though. Absolutely recommend.
Professor Mammo is really good, at first it can be hard to understand his accent but he is really good at explaining the mathematical concepts and when you ask him questions he makes sure you understand before moving on. Homework assignments are not graded but you should do them to do well on the exams. The exams are easy if you do the homework.
Mammo's a great guy. He has such a mastery of math, that he has no problem simplifying it and furthermore explaining it properly. He kept the class laughing the whole way, but he was straightforward on what material will be on the tests. The homework isn't always graded, but he likes to know you do them, and it helps a lot in the class.
Such an amazing teacher, had him for Calc I & II and he made the experience so enjoyable. He is so focused on how to help students and make the material easier to understand. Always asking for constructive criticism as well to even better his teaching. Just a great teacher, always offers help and makes an otherwise difficult course bearable
Prof. Mammo is an awesome teacher. He's really enthusiastic about math. He makes sure to go over everyone's questions, and he goes over everything in detail so no-one gets lost. His tests can be kind of long, but they're not harder than you'd expect for college math. (Sometimes he asks his class to write a paper about their academic history though)
Dr. Mammo makes his class very interesting and easy to learn. He teaches you step by step how to do math, and explains clearly for the reason for them. I highly recommend Dr. Mammo to anyone.
I love him!! Considering the fact that this class was at 8 in the morning he really tried to keep it interesting. He goes on little rants that have nothing to do with the class in the middle of his lesson and he tries to learn stuff from us. Everything we say he is really interested in it. Take him he is adorable!!
Best Professor i had here. Took him 3 semesters in a row
Great teacher, great person. Very interesting class. He cares about what his students think, and always asks for their input regarding tests and what he can do to improve as a professor.
he is so hard, doesnt curve
Although it was calc 3 at 8 o'clock in the morning, he kept it interesting and did his best in making it as clear and easy as possible. Definitely take him!!! He's adorable
Great Professor! I love him so much that I'd take him again for any Math course. His explanations and notes are very thorough. I felt like things were a bit rushed at the end and his final exam was harder than the course materials, but overall he's a good professor to take and his grading policy is fair, IMO.
Excellent Professor, take him for any math class. I had him for Calculus II and Calculus III, he made both classes easy to understand and the tests were straight forward. He makes math fun and interesting.
I love the Mammonator. His classes are always the highlight of my day. I wish I could take him for every single class here at Hofstra for the rest of my entire life. I would purposely keep failing so that I can take him over and over again over the course of a 40 year period. That's how great he is.
Listen up. If you wanna take a math class, take this guy. Its not hard to do well, he gives packets and practice exams and tons of extra credit. He loves to talk about Ethiopia and loves to say "very difficult." Its not very difficult. Just do the damn webassign on time and show up. His office hours are great but sometimes he stops to water plants.
Whether or not you're a math whiz, I guarantee Mammo can make calc seem like 2nd grade. Yeah, I love math regardless, but the class vibe definitely was way above average. If you put in the class time, you WILL succeed. He cares about student opinions and really does want you to do well. If i don't have him again for LinAlg, I'll be so upset.
Mammo is an extremely good prof. if you get the chance to take him definitely do. hes such a great person which makes you like him that much more. he made calc 2 enjoyable for me.
This was a class I had to retake, and for the record, hundred times more clear than when I took it the first time. Just do the homework, and practice constantly. He gives a lot of chances to boost your grade. Gets the kids going and even at 9AM he's cracking jokes and making everyone feel comfortable. Get the chance and take him.
The problem is, he is one of the slowest professors the department. You won't get through much, and he's not the nicest person.
It's an easy A (seriously, you have to try hard to fail) but you don't learn anything---you will not be prepared for Math72 if you take his Math71.
Prof. Mammo is an excellent professor who cares a lot for his students. I am thrilled to be in his class. The previous two comments don't represent him at all. They appear to be driven by reasons that have nothing to do with his teaching. It has been five weeks into the fall semester and I have learned a great deal already.
Dr. Mammo is really funny and all, but I didn't feel like I learned enough. My friend's in the same class with another professor went over way more then what we did in class :/
Mammo is a well-organized professor who does his best to make Calculus manageable. He does really care.
Best math professor for Math 006A! Would definitely enjoy being apart of another one of his classes.
Mammo is definitely one of the better math professors at school. He actually teaches you how to solve the problem which makes learning calc a lot easier than some other professors who just put random problems on the board. He is also super caring and truly wants to help you, and if you need an extra time or help is is happy to accommodate that.
amazing professor, cares so much about students and really wants you to learn. Very flexible to help you outside of class. He makes math not that bad
best professor ive taken at hofstra. makes math so clear and enjoyable. loved having class with him at 630 at night til 8. always looked forward to having class with him. hes a real gem, no lie.
calc 1 is so easy with this man, retook it after another prof and i seamlessly passed, he was so caring and accesible, his homework helped so much and so relevant to the test. hes hilarious and makes lecture so tolerable. he can see if youre struggling from your face and will come up to help you, group work all the time which I love!!!
He barely focuses in class. Very bad, incredibly bad* grading criteria. He will end up dropping grades not know what your final grade will look like. The last test "final" is extremely hard and he barely explains last topics. He gives lots of handouts for you to teach yourself. Very late class, very boring, wouldn't take again.
Goes through everything thoroughly. He gives lot of opportunities
If you want to feel like you're understanding Math and traditionally difficult Math at that, maybe for the first time for many, definitely take this class. Prof. Mammo has not only years of teaching under his belt but also since he cares he's been able to really connect with students and understand what helps them really understand content.
Mammo is easily the best professor in the department. If you work hard in this class there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. Do your homework and study hard. His tests are straightforward and will never have anything he hasn't shown you how to solve.
Prof. Mammo is probably the most generous professor in the world. He tries to make late-night 2 and half hour classes bearable by cracking jokes from time and time. He listens to the students and incorporates their ideas into the class. He is very passionate in his job and it shows. He is reasonable and easy to work with. Best math prof in hofstra
Probably the best professor Ive ever had for a math class. He has that sort of no child left behind style of teaching. If the class doesnt understand a topic, he will spend many days on it until the majority understands it. The only problem is that he doesnt have enough time to cover the last few topics on the syllabus.
I enjoyed the class. The atmosphere was light and the teacher was patient and good at keeping students engaged. I would definitely take a class with this teacher again.
Prof Mammo is such a sweet guy. You can tell he cares about his students a lot. He is a great professor. Makes math class enjoyable. Would definitely take him for every math class if I could!
Prof Mammo teaches a bit slowly because he wants to make sure everyone understands. He makes the lectures entertaining and is very accommodating and understanding whenever students have issues. I highly recommend his class.
I really like how Dr. Mammo runs his class. He has a sense of humor and an honest approach to teaching. Very clear, engaging and detailed lectures. He encourages questions a great deal and allows for students to participate actively.
Dr. Mammo is very kind, but often won't answer students' questions and tells them to go to tutoring, "figure it out", or get help from a classmate. He doesn't host office hours and is rarely around outside of class time. A lot of class is also used by him discussing off topic matters instead of actually teaching material pertinent to the course.
I absolutely adore Mammo. He makes math fun and is hysterical. Many opportunities for extra credit and gives a lot of partial credit. He genuinely wants his students to succeed and will give you a good grade if he sees you putting in the effort. Feedback is very important to him and he often asks students what would help them improve.
As a person who religiously went to tutoring, Mammo as a person is very sweet, but when it comes to exams, there are no practice exams whatsoever unless its for the final. 2 exams, homework, and 2 quizzes. Past reviews say he gives lots of extra credit, but it's "biased". There were two classes he taught, and in one class he gave more extra points.
He is one of the only profs I have had that has taught calc properly. His lectures are great and he presents everything really well. This class was where calculus really connected for me. The only thing is he can be disorganized and not have a set plan for everything. Tutoring was also very important to do good. I recommend him heavily tho.
best calc professor at hofstra no doubt, great understanding of topic and teaching in general. make sure to study webassign problems for tests and you'll be good
glorious professor
Mammo is very kind and can joke with his students here and there, but does not do well when it comes to teaching. He is very strict on grading his tests and if you don't use his way on the exam you won't get credit at all. He will take off points for literally any little wrong mistake and wont budge when it comes to correcting a test grade.
Professor Mammo is very kind and respectful. But tests are a majority of your grade and he is hesitant on correcting any test errors. Gives you access to practice problems and is great at making Calc 2 easier for his students.
Prof. Mammo is kind and always willing to accommodate his students. I am taking one of his online classes this summer, and as someone who works a part-time summer job, he's especially accommodating with deadlines. There are 3 quizzes and weekly homework, while the midterm and final makeup most of your grade. If you take notes, you'll be good.
Might've been me but I couldn't understand much of what he was saying during classes. Assignments were easy if you put in actual work but Tests and Quizzes can be difficult. If you aren't that proficient at math in the first place do not take him. Otherwise, very nice and helpful.
He is a sweet guy who really enjoys what he does, if you struggled in math or failed your placement exam then this is the right guy for you, he takes the class slow enough for everyone to understand and master the material and he has no problem stopping for questions and explaining all of the steps taken in a problem.
Don't know if this is just my experience with him but I can not follow along with his lectures. He doesn't explain things clearly but his homework is easy enough. Take notes and record the lectures if you can.
Professor Mammo makes math engaging and approachable. He's generous with partial credit and extra credit opportunities. Using unstuckstudy alongside the course materials helped me grasp the concepts well and earn a solid grade.
really sweet and hilarious prof. i did so well in the class without even trying, and its a pass/fail so the grade doesn't go towards my gpa. extends homework due dates every time (even after he already said it was the last time). you can tell he really cares for his students. gave candy out during our final!
One of the best professors at Hofstra. Teaches at a slower pace to help everyone understand, easy to ask for help from, and lenient when it comes to grading.
Really great professor. Lectures are clear and he will always open the floor to questions. Give this man a raise.
He doers not know how to teach, his accent is very strong so i can not understand him. He only answers the questions without explaining how to answer it. He gives a lot of homework but he extends the due date which was the only thing i liked. He also teaches way different from what webassign shows you how to do it. I can not keep up with his lecture
