You start out thinking she's going to be cool. Then her classroom rules are too hard to figure out. "Rude = Bad. Very bad". Makes sense, right? But then it's okay for the prof or any student to say, "Shut up!" when it's too loud. Umm...huh?
She tries to instill a lesson about why women and men act the way we do. Listen to what she is trying to say and you will learn a valuable lesson in life.
i would definitly recommend her class, pretty easy, just expect to read and come to class and you will be fine. About 3 papers and a bunch of readings and thats about it. She is always willing to help out if needed.
Her class is not easy. I was dreading this class. However, she turned out to be a really cool person. She is really funny and although she assigns reading a lot, class consists of group discussion. She has a good sense of humor too.
Very good teacher, interesting class and i thought she always kept us in an upbeat mode. Definetly reccomended.
good teacher, easy grader. makes things interesting and you can say **** in her class.
she is a stupid feminist waste of time. i deserved an A but she gave me a 89%. because i told her i wanted to be a stay at home mom. and she told me to drop out of college because i was wasting her time and mine.
I took two of her classes. I loved them both. She is very down to earth and considers her self one of us, she dont act like shes higher than us. She is willing to learn and listens to our opinions. She gets us to think about everything. Why do we act/speak the way we do? She does not judge or force her opinion on any one.Her love for teaching show!
1.) Don't be afraid to voice your opinion in her class. Beki (Test) makes this class very enjoyable! Be on time, read the assignments and be in class everyday: and she will respect you even more.
She is very critical of student's pieces. Takes off points if the essay is too LONG!!??!! Rarely gives students an 'A' because "no essay is perfect"!
Beki is great! You must be willing to speak out and get involved. So if you are the shy type this is a good chance for you to get out of your comfort zone. You will write some really interesting papers in this class. Beki will get pretty personal with you so be ready to open up your mouth and mind! Good Luck, you will have a BLAST!
Dramatic and fun. She expect originality and self confidence in everything. Be yourself and have fun in your essay will benefit you. If you are can't stand embrassment, pls don't take her classes because she will embrass you once she knew you can't stand it. Beki!!! Small teachers are crazy, but I like her style.
She is a good teacher. If you like writing about your personal experiences, take her class. The last paper is the hardest one, but we can get through with it well. She helps all the students as she can.
I think she's great. She has a very supportive, open look at writing, which is important with any creative endevor.
As many people peobably thought that Beki was going to be cool, I did too. How wrong was I? She turns out to be rude and just cuts people off when they are talking, then tries to make you look bad, thats just wrong.
She was great. class was fun and interesting. she is kind of on the wild side. can say anything you want in her class just back it up with proof. i wish i could have her for every class.
She is simply the best Columbus State has to offer. If you want the real college experience for half the price. She is the real deal. You will learn a lot about writing and yourself without the fear of killing your G.P.A. Every student at Columbus State should take this professor.

Very fun. Keeps your attention. Funny at times. But dont piss her off, she'll blow. She's very nice and helpful.
Beki Test is by far the best instructor CSCC has! She is funny and helpful and just all around a great person! The best part about her class is she tries to get you to think outside your box, something few of us do. Plus she makes it impossible not to know your classmates. I didnt like that at first but ended up making long term friendships! A+++
Wonderful and challenging instructor. Not "by the book" ... she's into exploring other ways and is accepting and supporting of all students!! love her!
First class I genuinely felt like I took something away from. She is an excellent teacher and loves her job. All the negative comments are from those with a closed mind. Take her if you have a chance! But she does require you to work hard. Go to class and do the readings but don't bother buying the book. Awesome!!
Tremendous teacher with a great zest for life. Put in the work she asks and you will get everything back in return. Graded pretty easily and classes were really fun and interesting. Can't wait to have Becki again!
Great Teacher
Great teacher. Really keeps your attention and is very passionate about what she's doing.
Becki is an amazing teacher. This is one of the best classes I've taken at CSCC. It's an easy class in terms of work, but it really challenges the way you think. I loved this class and recommend everyone take it whether you need it or not. Thanks Becki :)
Professor Test is very nice!!! I took her english 252 class online and I wish I took it in person! I got an A and I think almost anyone could. The class was easy. At first it was a lot of reading. As long as you understand the reasings, You will pass the small quizzes. Hope you like essays! over all.... a wonderful class -kelsey
Was shocked from the great ratings -- I found her egocentric and mean. Seemed too busy (even in class!) to really listen to what the student were saying, which was REALLY strange for a discussion class. She was very good at being "nice" but had a nasty streak under that. I got a good grade & liked the readings, but left every class angry at her.
I didn't care for Beki at all. I love English and I love class discussions; however, Beki was very one sided. You could tell her biases and even though she didn't come out and say it, you could tell where she stood on certain issues. (She had a rude way of coming across). She seemed like she cared more about her outside life than teaching.
Very Feminist, awesome, makes the class feel like a large group of friends. Very enjoyable.
I am taking her class online.I truly believe this teacher is a man hater. It shows in the assignments she has us complete. She piles a ton of homework. She answers emails 3-4 days later. I do not recommend her at all!
Favorite teacher, ever :)
I took this class on line and I did like this teacher. Seemed very enthusiastic and obviously loves teaching this class. The work load wasnt too much and the quizes were easy as long as you read. Very nice lady.
TONS of homework. Unorganized and unclear blackboard. I have almost no idea what's due when or how to do many of the assignments. I have emailed her twice and she responded rudely both times. The discussions are bland. I chose her based on these ratings and so far it has been a nightmare.
What a wonderful class! I have had her for both online (a different class) and in the classroom and she really knows her stuff, plus she is really funny, though she can be startling--especially if you don't get her wit! She makes you think and really challenges what YOU think--which can make some people mad. She is passionate about teaching!!
If you value your sanity, do not take this class with her online. She is incredibly unclear and extremely unorganized with blackboard. Her due dates/times for an online class are ridiculous, and do not take into account that online students tend to have unusual schedules. Discussions are bland and unimaginative.
Do not take 252 online with her. Her blackboard set up is unorganized and confusing. You can write a beautiful paper but if it is not in her view you will fail it. There is no room for your point of view, either you follow her or you fail.
Do not take this class with her. very unclear and unorganized. have no idea how she is still teaching.
I love Beki! I took three classes with her, and they were all great. She really helps expand your way of thinking and looking at things. Yes, she is a feminist but she doesn't hate men. She has no patience for people who don't care to learn and won't hesitate to call people out for not trying. If you don't like working with others, don't take her.
I took her class online and it was honestly one of the worst experiences I have had with an online class. Very unorganized, assignments were not clear, just bad experience all together.
I have taken several classes (online and in the classroom) with Professor Test and have found her course to be REALLY interesting, and organized. She is so helpful, and she wants to know what you think about things. She likes it when you ask questions, or ask for help. That's how you get to know how much she likes to teach. Take her
I enjoyed taking classes from this professor. I have taken classes from her online and in the classroom and both classes were interesting and fun. You do have to go to class, though, and if it's online make sure you get your discussion boards in.
Loved it.
Beki is a great teacher and I really enjoyed it. I found it pretty east as long as you long along and do the board. Only wish the assignments were organized better and easer to find on Blackboard with dates. Overall loved the class and Beki
I was looking forward to this class and was sorely disappointed. This online class was poorly organized and feedback regarding grades was non-existent. I would recommend this class only to those who need a quick grade and are already well-versed in the subject matter. She won't tell you how to improve your writing or what she didn't agree with.
I loved her class! I have taken her online and in the classroom--she always gave helpful feedback to me--I learned things about how to improve my writing, as well as new ways of looking at the world!
Everything you learn you can use in your everyday life and it makes you think a little different about everything you thought you knew about.
Took this class online. Prompt about returning emails asking questions. Decently long final paper. Many quizzes and discussion boards. Must do reading. I got As on all of my papers. I would definitely take her class again if I were required another English class.
This was the easiest English class I have ever taken, including high school. It was mostly in-class discussions, and as long as you were there you got the points. I got A's on all my papers, which there were only like 4 of. Her discussions make you think, and she is very fun and easy to talk to.
I took her Intro to Folklore class online over the summer. I found the material interesting and it made me think about a lot of things differently than I previously had. I really enjoyed completing her final project. My only complaint would be about the way that she organized her BB page. It was, at times, hard to find things.
She was a great professor. Helped me really develop myself, loved all her papers, best papers I've ever written
I have taken classes by Becki in class and online. She is always willing to help any student. Her class will get you thinking and the in-class section was my favorite because she doesn't stand in front of the class and teach she has every student get involved by have a big discussion. She was a great teacher!! :-)
I thought I was going to really like this professor based on the reviews. Once I got in the class I slowly but surely started t regret my decision. She seems like a genuinely nice person, but the structure of her online class is a MESS. I wouldn't recommend this class is chaos is a pet peeve.
I took Beki's folklore class, and it was nothing like I expected. Not in a good way. She was rude, cursed at her students, and gave assignments you'd expect from a graduate student. The last assignment is a 15-page paper. After 16 weeks, I still don't understand what "folklore" is.
Buy the text books and barely use them. Online class structure is a mess. Not organized weekly list is different than syllabus list. Does not give much feedback or structure. Opens the class and you work on a wed-wed basis. You do all the work for her. Would not take another one of her classes.
Overall pretty easy. Keep up with discussion boards, peer reviews, and turn the papers in on time and you will be fine. Her blackboard is extremely organized.
If you can get past the hyper progressive mannerisms, she's an excellent teacher. The class itself was not my favorite, but that's nothing to do with her. Grades well, but doesn't just hand out A's.
greatest english teacher i ever had. she grades fairly, and makes everything about learning about yourself, not just writing a bunch of papers. i hated writing until her class, and even though we had a couple papers, i loved writing them. she really lets out this side of you that you never knew was there.
Not a lot of homework. Only two essays due during the semester. No quizzes or test. We sit in a circle and talk about what we read for class that usually she has questions attached to but we never turn in. One group project.
Her gender & identity class was interesting and creatively stimulating. She was open to discussing papers outside of class, & gave good feedback. She's a lenient grader, if you make an honest attempt. Her class is very different, group discussion led, one group project, & lots of readings. There were 2 short essays & a longer research paper.
The good: not a lot of homework. The bad: hard grader, very picky. Maybe thing is easier for you if you are her favorite. She was not helpful at all during office hours. The most annoying thing is you have to pull all tables aside to form a circle with chairs, then at the end of class, we have to put everything back together every class.
Was and probably is my favorite professor I have and probably will ever have! No tests which was nice, but graded heavily on papers. Also did a lot of peer editing which was nice.
She seems to be a great teacher, but the layout of the website is confusing as are the due dates. She lists stuff by school weeks (week 1, week 2) not by dates. All essays are peer reviewed and must have a grading rubric attached. I couldn't find good information on what is expected in essays. She will make an effort to help you if you are confused
Professor Test was an awesome choice for Folklore. I loved the class. Even though I took it online, I felt like her lectures were a lot of fun. Take her class, you won't regret it!
I would not recommend taking this class if you like clear communication, following the syllabus, or consistency. Professor Test can be short and what some would consider rude to her students. Although dialogue is a major part of this class's learning material, she does not tend to allow for it.
She's very rude and the class was a mess. It was supposed to be a folklore class, but by the end of it no one knew what folklore was essentially. She also talks over her students and is very forgetful. She also encourages cultural appropriation.
alright guys. this is arguably the most eccentric professor I have ever taken. she's odd, and at first I didn't understand her, even a little. she seems extremely brash but she has redeeming qualities, and her class is actually fairly entertaining. it was a folklore class but I did as much work in there as my next 2 classes combined.
She loves her students and it's clear she loves what she does. She made me really think--she expected a lot, but that made me respect her. Try one of her classes, for sure!
Very contradicting in rubric vs grading like I did everything it said in my group project and she was like nah man you didnt do this when we clearly did. But fun class overall, stay on top of the class work and all the group projects especially the final.
Great professor. Very much involved in our projects. She is always reachable and gives good feedback. Group discussion-led classes.
I loved this class. The essays were interesting and Professor Test was super nice and approachable. I would definitely take a class with her again.
This is the most fun I've had in any college class! Professor Test is an awesome person. Assignments were creative and challenged us but we learned a lot & created a strong bond amongst the class. Only problem I had was a bad group 4 the group project. Don't cheat, disrespect others, or have a bad attitude, she'll call you out on it if necessary
Be prepared to waste so much of your time navigating the MESS that is the Blackboard course page. A lot of the website links are broken, and the ones that work take you to sketchy outdated forums from pre-y2k era w/ pop-up ads. The final project has little guidance and submitting work to her is so difficult (why?). The content is neat, that's all
Professor Test was an incredible professor! My classmates and I had a blast. The course work was unique and made us think. There were two large projects, one a group project. Professor test was respectful and caring about how her student's were doing in class. I would take more courses from her if I could!
Prof Test was not a bad teacher, but the course for Gender and Identity was awful. The book includes outdated and harmful terms and rhetoric, and some of the links for madatory viewings or readings were behind a paywall or shut down. Essays are not super difficult to get a good grade on, and the quizzes were short but really detail oriented.
This was one of the worst classes I've ever taken. Test is disorganized. Her assignments don't include rubrics and the expectations aren't very clear. She didn't teach anything about writing, the text is outdated and she seemed more interested in material that followed her whims and interests than actually helping us improve our writing skills
I found the class very interesting due to the fact that it was my first time focusing on gender and identity. She would assign weekly work that would be confusing at times because she didn't explain herself well. She didn't change her syllabus dates from the past semester. I felt the essays were hard, especially the final essay(very hard:l)
Absolute leftist nonsense, not a single sentence is about writing/research. Everything is about gender & identity. You will learn absolutely nothing about english and everything about how to victimize yourself. Every week you are to read some leftist articles and discuss them, dr Beki is very sweet and helpful but the class is ENGLISH not gender.
This class is an absolute mess. She makes you submit everything through email and the blackboard is a nightmare to navigate. She is behind the times & stuck in her ways. Her assignments expectations are unclear and so is her grading criteria. That being said, it's fairly easy to do well in the class, but it's still a headache & I wish I avoided it.
I had soooooooo much fun with Beki. This was the only class I didn't skip lol. My classmates and I were able to get close with her as well as each other and the class was genuinely just so enjoyable. I learned so much about other cultures too and the group project was really really really fun. Definitely an enjoyable class. Love Beki.
She's very fun and energetic and gives interesting lectures. Be sure to have good conversations with your classmates because she appreciates the "Folklore", but don't talk while she is... Also don't have your phone out during class or you will be in trouble. I had a great time in this class and would 100% retake it!
It's easy if you put the work in: 2 essays, 1-db a week, and quizzes. Let's you take the average of quiz grades rather than a final. You only need the textbooks for one assignment. However, the course is very difficult to navigate on blackboard.
A chimpanzee with a typewriter could make a better Blackboard page. Not a bad teacher though
DO NOT TAKE, at least not online. Her blackboard is a disorganized unreadable mess due to the colors, caps lock, and boldness and i'd often have to re-tread the same page several times and go back to older ones in order to get all the information I needed for main essays. She didn't actually teach me a thing about writing about gender.
Professor Test's Folklore class online is very well set-up. The discussion boards are geared toward helping the students understand concepts better, not just regurgitating the same information twenty times on the forum. The quizzes are easy if you've done the reading. Overall, a very good class and I learned a lot. Projects are fun too.
