Dr. Fattah is awesome. He is super straightforward and is always accessible when you need help. The material in this course is kinda boring, but he tries to make lectures as interesting as possible. There are three tests in this class, A LOT of HWs and TP assignments. Show up, pay attention at what the prof covers in class, and you'll be fine!
First term at GMU. He's a really awesome (and handsome!) professor. Tries to make the class as interesting as possible. Gives lots of opportunities to learn via homework, in-class quizzes, extra credit, assignments, etc. He takes the time to help both in class and out and is straight-forward with what he wants. I hope to take more classes with him!
There's a bunch of homework but literally all of them are right off Quizlet so it's not that bad. The lectures are pretty boring but not difficult, and professor is good about pacing them so that there's time for discussion and questions. Attendance isn't super necessary but sometimes he'll spring a quiz on you.
The problem with this teacher is that he should be placed in upper levels classes, not 200's. He is very technical which makes it really hard to connect with student. Classes are 80% excel practice, but quizzes and exams are 50-50 concept and excel. The req' textbook is worthless, Youtube helps the most. He's not bad, is just not right one for 210.
He can seem intimidating, but he's a nice guy. There are tons of assignments but he helps you out on them, and at times even extend the deadlines. There are three exams which are Multiple choice and require a scantron. I wouldn't take him again though.
Gives clear, helpful lectures and instructions there is no way you can't pass if you follow his syllabus, go to class and do your part. He goes extra miles to ensure his students understand the material, for example going over stats foundations so you're not just memorizing but understand how the excel functions solves the math. Best BUS 210 class
He really is straightforward with what he wants and willing to help. Coms off kind of mean, but he is actually really nice, just talk to him! The tests were kind of hard due to the MC section, but as long as you show up and do the homeworks you'll get a good grade.
Professor Fattah came off kind of mean at first but once you start talking to him and going to his office hours, you find him very nice and willing to help. Homework assignments every week, a couple quizzes, 3 exams and a final project. If you go to every class and ask for help you will pass the class!
Absolutely take this prof. He is a good explainer and give good lectures. Just sit in front row so you can see the screen well. He gives weekly excel HW submitted thru BB, nothing hard. Gives Extra credits on every exam. Posts lecture slides and supplements on BB. Exam is pretty easy. Finals were even open note/book. Some pop-attendance checks.
A good lecturer with extensive knowledge on the course, if you want to take MIS 303 and actually intend to learn and practice the material, take him.
Gr8 Professor!!!! Makes you earn the grade, but very knowledgeable and "really" wants you to do well & learn. Anyone sayin he's rude /mean might be a lil overly sensitive in general. He expects you NOT to be disruptive in cls & will call you out on it (ie talkin, texting in cls) thats called respecting the other stds & having control of the class
Hes a really nice guy who is willing to help with the homework. He wants you to understand how to use Excel and Access and even if the class isn't directly related to your major he wants you to take something from it but at the same time understands its mandatory. Just go to class so you don't miss participation assignments
I was actually failing first half of this class but and somehow got all 100's at the end. Hes a great professor and a very smart person, I actually look to him as a mentor. Best at mason!
Abdelfettah is hands down the chillest professor! There are 3 exams and pop quizzes all on lock down browser, and a group proj. Also, there are Excel and Access assignments that will require time to complete. Just come to class, pay attention and do the work! I heard he is teaching MIS 330 (Systems and design analysis), I will def take him again!
You need to read the book. He drew a lot of quiz and test questions from the textbook. Some of the homework assignments did not have clear directions. Using the T.A. or Office hours is suggested. He was nice enough. I took him during his first semester, so he could be getting used to teaching at Mason.
Belal is a really good dude. He might come off as intimidating at first but he genuinely cares and wants everyone to do well. Several access and excel assignments but just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. One group project and three exams. DON'T buy the book
He's a cool guy. There are several homework assignments and quizzes. He tries to make the class engaging and interesting. He draws a lot of test questions from the book so it's a good idea to buy it.
Nice professor just make sure you pay attention to him and avoid using your phone when he's lecturing. He'll call you out in front of the class if he sees you using it. Just be prepared to read the chapters beforehand and do your homework. There's a group presentation which he randomly picks.
This is a very good course to take just because of its topic, Professor Abdelfattah really does push you to do better. It is not necessarily easy but with effort you can do well. The group project is a good portion of the class so pick good people. He can seem kind of mean but he's honestly great and very nice, go to him with legitimate questions.
Definitely a great teacher actually learned concepts. Need the book for in class assignments, quizzes, and tests. Attend class, do your work, and you'll be fine.
the class in general is tough. you should read the books and read the tune source cases in order to well in the exams. Be prepared to do a big project.
Easy grader. Tests are pretty easy if you take good notes during class. I suggest taking pictures of his slides. He uploads the TB slides, but not his own. His lectures are ok so it can be difficult pay attention. The project was super easy. HWs and Quizzes were also easy. Overall easy class.
Disaster for 330. Hardest thing ever - there's no clue! Besides all the papers and project which are actually doable, the exams are ridiculous. They can be from anywhere in the book, but he only mentions the easiest part in class. Have to teach yourself every detail from the book. He likes to test on example company's choice which makes no sense.
Belal is a great professor who is there to help you if you need it. The easiest way to pass his class is to read the textbook and listen to what he says. The class is not difficult.
In class group work or individual work each class. He is a nice guy, but his quizzes based on Tune Source or quizzes in general are difficult. Wish he would give us a take home exam or allow us to go to class to take our exam, but use open book. I find that helps more especially when doing in class work and referring back to book. Helps retention
He is a very nice guy and great person. However, exams and quizzes are extremely difficult. It is crazy how hard they are. He curved my class because everyone did so bad. Other than that, class is good.
Exams are hard!!!
He is an okay professor, however the tests are so hard. Even with a cheat sheet it was hard. He gives a study guide but it doesn't help at all. There's hw almost every week. Be prepared to read the book! I don't recommend taking this class with him.
Prof. Belal is caring for students. During the class, students need to focus on the lecture, but his exams are not that hard. As long as you attend the class and read the slides, you will get a good grade. TAKE HIM!
Professor Abdelfattah is a great professor, however, since this class is a writing intensive course, it is best to find good people bc there is a group project to do for this class. His exams can be challenging but if you keep up with your readings and the tune sources, you should be fine.
A stolid professor that makes assignments as clear as possible in terms of what he wants. This class is lab heavy so make sure to attend each and every class and avoid being late as you will significantly fall behind. Tests are a bit tricky but he does provide study guides a week prior which is a huge plus. Definitely take him.
As kind, funny, and cool as Professor Abdelfattah is - his exams do not match up with what is taught in class, and they're a little tricky. I did not put as much effort into his class as I did with the others though. He curves every exam except the final!
amazing professor. He is the best ISOM professor I have come across. Must attend class. A lot of it is doing worksheets but he makes you understand. Pick a good group and you will get 100's on the projects. Tests are a little harder but you can bring a one sided paper to help! Go to office hours if you need it, he is nice and will help you
He's a great professor and I loved taking his class. With that being said, the exams are harder than I expected, so you have to do the assigned reading along with following his lectures. The Access and Excel assignments are pretty easy as long as you watch his demonstrations. I would highly recommend you take this professor!
Professor Belals course is awesome. In my time at mason, I never learned as much as I did in this class. You do need to work for your grade. I am not rating him well for being an easy A but rather for knowing how to teach the material and make sure we know it like the back of our hands. You have to read and go to class but this class will help you.
Kind of hated him at first but he is really good at conveying topics. The quizzes and tests are hard because a lot of it is based off of the textbook + Tune Source and you HAVE to keep up. The group project wasn't bad because if you go to him for help he will put you on the right track. He seems unapproachable at first but he is really nice.
He is the best professor at mason. To be clear, he makes you work by doing a quiz every class, but his explanation is the best u understand a lot in class. Also, he does curve the midterm grade.
This was my second time taking his class after I took him for MIS303. This class is substantially harder than the previous one as there is a quiz almost every other week. Tests are also very difficult but he allows a note sheet. My advice is to scan the chapters before the test, and you will be just fine.
Hes a good prof, good teacher. Strict tho, u gotta come to class Theres a quiz every other class theres a good amount of homework weekly. Course itself is not the easiest either. Will have to put in work, not an easy A but can be a easy B - ish.
The top ISOM teacher at Mason. Took him for MIS330 as well (A-). His lectures are organized and clear. He is responsive by email. Homework is easy, exams are challenging. Lectures are interesting. Occasional quizzes. Be sure to have coding exposure beforehand (Python). If you get a class with him, you are in luck. His seats are in high demand.
Belal is THE BEST prof at GMU no doubt!!!. Took him for MIS 303, MIS 330, and MIS 433, got an A in all. He's VERY knowledgeable, interesting lectures and he makes it easy to understand. Assignments/tests are not hard, do the work/study you'll pass. no exp needed, I never took any type of coding class before still got an A. TAKE HIM U WON'T REGRET!!
Abdelfattah's class was super challenging mainly because of the project. You must have a decent group in order to succeed the project, otherwise you're going to struggle. The exams were tricky and the final was harder than the midterm. I strongly suggest listening to the lectures and annotate them until you comprehend. Overall, great professor!
I took MIS433 with Professor Abdelfattah. You need to read a lot for this class I didn't have any background about python or coding. The exams are 2 part first part is multiple choices and very hard the second part is coding but it is open note which make it easier. Some homework are challenging some are ok.
Graded on exams, group project, and 2-3 papers. Groups are assigned so have to get lucky there. Study the slides for exams.
Solid class that you learn a lot in. Nice professor that communicates well and gives good feedback. Have to put in work for an A.
Took him online. The group project is worth a huge chunk of your grade and group members are already chosen a good group could make or break ur grade. Theres 2 exams and they're also worth a lot. The final is worth more. To pass the exams you need to carefully study & understand EVERY single slide.
Professor Abdelfattah is a great choice for Bus 210. He is really nice, and very knowledgable about the course material. He answers every students questions, and is even willing to go over things again, after just explaining a topic. He is very patient. The class is an easy A if you put in some effort. The weekly homework are super easy.
Great professor for MIS 433. Very challenging class and I dont recommend taking it if you want the easy way out. With that said he teaches the class very well and with good effort you will learn a lot. One of few classes in college I actually felt will benefit me down the road. Exams 50% of grade Project 15% Hw 15% quiz 10% data camp 10% take him!
Great professor, you won't regret taking him. He gives helpful feedback, and responds to emails fast. He cares for his students, and wants everyone to succeed. Very patient, and will explain everything to you until you get it. Very knowledgable, and easy going. Do the things expected of you and you'll do great. Highly recommend.
His lectures are so easy to understand, even if you dont have experience using Excel! Be careful with citing your sources on assignments, because you will lose points! This class is really great for business students, as it gives us exposure to excel and some statistics. Highly recommend Belal Abdelfattah!
Keeps his lectures concise and provides thorough in-class examples to help you comprehend the material. Class does pick up pace progressively, so don't skip class and follow along as he goes through the code. A respectful and responsive professor - one of the best in the School of Business
One of the best professors I have learnt programming from so far. Come to class, take notes as comments in your Jupyter files, make sure to go through ppt slides before his quizzes and understand them well. Then you are all set for this class. It's not an easy A, but if you work for it, you'll def get an A. He is truly a wonderful instructor!
He is a good professor. Not sure why people are being salty and disliking the honest reviews on him. Take him, you do have to work for an A and make sure you understand the concepts well. He is always willing to clear any doubts people have. He is very patient if you don't understand a concept and tries to explain it to you.
Solid professor. 10/10 recommended.
This is a hard class; you have to put in the work to pass, Class is graded on 2 writing assignments, group projects which is big chunk of your grade and some quizzes, homework and final. He knows how to teach but his exams are straight hard
If you want to learn about Python, this class is for you. The professor can teach well. This class (especially the exams) is difficult for a reason. Not impossible, but if your practice alot of what's done in class you'll do well. In hindsight, I didn't realize the level of difficulty actually helped me learn to program in python. Would take again
My advice is you have to have a drive and passion to learn in here. I love how we all work on Jupyter files and learn how to code. The only issue that could be problematic is you could get lost if you dont pay attention. It can be overwhelming in beginning ,but he makes you do exercises as a review. Definitely recommend.
He is very amazing, easy to talk to, and very understandable. He would work with you to pass the class.
If only my job did not conflict with this class I would not drop it. I have no experience at all. But how he explain it in class is easy to understand. It is best you don't come to class late, or you ask friends to help catch up.
One of the best professors at Mason. Always available over email and gives good feedback. You can tell he cares when you care and put the effort in. The concepts can be difficult but he gives you every opportunity to catch up on your understanding if you just ask. Exams are tough but if you study, you will pass. Highly recommend taking him.
I don't know why MIS 412 is not on the list. But he taught it this semester and it was really good to learn something new. He is very kind, and he has a cool vibe when he comes to class. Don't think he has that mean look. Looks like I enjoyed the projects more than the exam because I couldn't wait for exams to be over. Try it!
MIS 412 - Professor is super laid-back and knowledgeable in his area. Although his teaching is hand-holding the class through the entire course. Lots of assignments, but if you show up to class you'll do fine. The practice is good, just feel sometimes it'd be better to let students figure some things out on their own.
One of the best professors. He will work with you to pass the class, take him!!!!
Just to be aware other professors make fake reviews on other professors. Beware! I am a student here and want to say this man is very good professor. The way he post lecture videos and supplemental video put together is well done. Do listen word-by-word as you take notes and work on the weekly assignments.
I noticed his assignments, project, and quizzes give less anxiety. But when it comes to midterms and final exams, he make it super hard. Some of us have to take another course outside of Mason because the delivery is way better to prepare and pass the class. No one talks about it and could careless. This class can destroy GPAs next to MIS 430.
Professor Belal teaching is disorganized, lacking clarity, grading, and effective explanation. Grading seems arbitrary, with insufficient feedback. His uninspiring approach and disinterest make learning Business Analytics challenging. Not recommended for those seeking a quality experience. You will fail 100% guaranteed.
Professor Abdelfattah is an excellent teacher! The class material can be challenging if you don't have MS Excel experience. The professor's explanations are clear and easy to follow. You will need to read the textbook, work through examples, and practice outside of class. The one-star reviews are probably people just showing up to class.
Tests are hard in this course. Make sure you study with the powerpoint. If you have prior knowledge in python, you can def pass this course. Coding is pretty simple in this coruse. He is there to answer your questions.
Professor Belal, His class day-to-day work is fine, but Exams are tough. most grade is from 3 Exams. If you follow his guidance and videos learn the concept you will be fine. Just pay attention on videos.
Business Analytics can be tough, he was an ok professor. When I emailed him about a question he would not reply until the assignment was past due. No lectures, just videos from YouTube. Exams are 20% each, 60% total so be sure to study.
overall a good class. he walks you through the code and explains what is happening. as long as you show up and pay attention you should do well on the quizzes, assignments, and exams. the assignments and final project was mostly reusing code from class with minor tweaks
5.1/5 is just funny.
I don't know how he got 5 as a rating. its a very stressful class and there is a C- which is so petty. He is the worst professor in GMU.
Prof Belal is a great teacher, his work is challenging but rewarding when you finally get the right code, and he pushes you to learn by your mistakes. Go to his office hours, he's really helpful if you're straight up with him and ask him questions. He also understands that people have a life outside of school and can be lenient on you if you ask.
Professor Abdelfattah is an excellent teacher. He was my instructor for BUS210 and again for MIS433. Some concepts can be difficult to understand but this instructor makes them as simple as possible. Both courses required outside reading, studying, and practice. I highly recommend enrolling in courses with this professor.
Encourages the use of outside materials to learn the concepts. Python can be alot of fun, and he encourages sandboxing. The final project was one hell of a curveball compared to everything else, so be wary of that - it's hard, but doable. Explicitly tells you what he wants on each assignment. His lectures aren't in the right order, but they're good
This class is easy to understand through Professor Abdelfattah's lectures. I genuinely enjoy learning HTML/CSS/Javascript because he is a great teacher. There's weekly homework/labs and 2 exams. My only complaint would be that he takes a long time to respond to emails sometimes.
Professor Abdelfattah is an amazing/genuine professor. His lectures were very informative, the homework assignments were straightforward, and overall his teaching style is great. I do wish I performed better in his course, but it was on me for taking a heavy course load this semester. Just make sure to study the code for the midterm and exam!
The class was honestly pretty easy. Just watch the instructor videos for the formulas and exercises. You also can ask questions on the discussion board and they get answered really well. For exams, it's good to review the videos and practice with previous problems. Overall an easy class. Just do the work (I did some).
very easy introductory html/css/java class. the weekly lectures are pretty easy-going and he ends class early sometimes. there's weekly homework on zybooks, a quiz every couple of topics, midterm was mcq, final project is a cumulation of what you've learned in class but it's not that bad. the prof himself is chill
Amazing professor! He really cares about his students and wants everyone to understand the code. Very open to questions and will explain each line. In class problems are very similar to the HW, so go to class. Exams and quizzes aren't too hard, taken at home w/honorlock. Final proj is pretty hard tho and time intensive, so start on it early.
He is a super understanding professer, I am taking him in the summer, and its a hard class and a lot to undertstand in 6 weeks. But he is willing to put the time and effort in to make you succeed. He gives mylabs, 3 exams and 5 quizzes, If i could do it in 6 weeks anyone can do good in a regular semster!! Take him
He's a good professor; you need to show up to class, walk through the code with him, and you're pretty set for all the homeworks, quizzes, and tests, all taken remotely. Easy course with him, but sometimes his TAs' grading made me mad ngl.
DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE. He treats his online students horribly. TA graded SUPER harshly on a simple homework assignment and prof did not care. Quiz and tests were fair, but it's a lot for an "introductory level" Python course. Dedicate at least 4-6 hours per week to studying so the final project and exam don't sneak up on you too much.
