excellent, makes economics easy and and almost interesting.
Always behind, not clear in instruction, could not fully answer an email unless I put in outline form
Her teaching methods are very different, and during summer classes...she teaches and doesn't explain very much or clearly. She does notes and the examples from the book for only an hour out of two hours, and then hands you a problem set at the end of the week, that had absolutely nothing to do with what the example. I would NOT reccomend her.
Great professor, I don't like Economics but since I had to take the course, I was glad she turned out to be a good teacher, I liked her teaching and the way she presented the material.
DO NOT TAKE FOR SUMMER CLASS. Did not go over material well and test were made to trick you, not to test your knowledge.
Teacher lectured for not even half of the allotted time. Barely touched subject, gave one example then gave problem sets on Thursday. You were on your own, no help, and the example was different than the questions. Very unhelpful and quite rude. Students with high GPAs worried about failing her class.

Very hard teacher. My GPA went down quite a bit from taking this class. Would not refer her to anyone unless you understand economics.

Not any easy class, but this is not junior high either.
Lectures all class long and none of it seemed to be on the test. Expects a tremendous amount of research and must know it all to get a decent grade. Very NICE LADY just very challenging. If you want a challenge, take her, dare you.
Ms. Roman is a very good teacher. she takes the time to explain she is fast and always ask if there are any questions; if you don't ask questions she will continue and so sad to bad you had an opportunity to ask a question when you had the opportunity. She does let you work in groups.

Have your A-game on when you walk into class. She is FAST, but helpful, so WRITE NOTES! Worked in groups, math involved dealt mostly with charts and tables..and I SUCK in math, but got an "A" on the course. Quizes and homework weren't that bad, but test were generated by dept. or Economics website test, and NOT HER's, so they were hard- multi-choic
Cool teacher! Learned a lot about economics but, you must do your homework and read the chapters. She wants to see her students succeed!
The information just doesn?t make sense from this teacher, unless you?re an econ major I would avoid this one.
Romans class is rushed. Nothing seems to be straight forward as it should be in a College Class. Roman seems to be a nice lady but also seems to be uninterested in making her students understand the subject. She would do well by exploring new ways of teaching the same information it was just too hard and confusing.
Mrs. Roman is a really good teacher. She will work with you to make sure that you pass her class. It is a little fast paced and somtimes uninteresting. But as long as you keep up with the notes and study them, you should have no problem. I took her for both macro and micro, I highly recommend her!
great teacher, lectures according to powerpoints which are based on the book used for her class. (she wrote her own book!)oh and she also uses the board for further explaning. (definitly taking her for micro!)
Economics in general requires a lot of thought. That is what makes the class hard. Roman will go out of her way to give you the extra you need to succeed in the class, but she is going to ask you to think. I enjoy her class and learned a great deal.
Mrs. Roman was very difficult to understand. Tried several times to get help from her and every time I only got half answers back and contradicting to what she had previously said. Her tests contradict what she teaches you and her book. If you get her good luck
too much in a short period of time. Very rushed. A good teacher cares if there students are learning and will work with you. not this one!
She is a great professor! :) She cares that you learn. It is a difficult class, but it is worth it because I learned Economics. :)
Terrible professor, never seen her before. Completed all my work and apparently were still behind schedule. Nothing can satisfying this woman besides the blood, sweat and tears of her supposed students.
Mrs. Roman is an alright teacher. Not the best in the world, very contradicting. She only explains the equations once and expects you to completely understand how to use them by the end of that class. I would avoid her if i could but the other econ teacher is just as bad.
Very good instructor, I'm surprised malicious people say she's not because if you talk to most of her students they really like her. She's very qualified and cares about her students. Some students don't do the work and get mad when she can't pass them but who is to blame for that?
I hated the subject but Mrs Roman tried hard to help us and get us through the class. I took Economics before and it was way worse. She is a fair teacher teaching a hard subject. I would recommend her because she knows the subject and stays behind after class to help students and has good patience.
I'll be honest, in my opinion, it's not the most fun subject out there. But, Mrs. Roman did an excellent job of facilitating this course. Her exams were mostly multiple choice and she would let us use a note card for them. She gave plenty of extra credit. Attend class and show you're effort, and you should do well. Would definitely take her again.

Class was okay. I was amazed that I passed with an A. Attend class! Not only does she use your attendance as a grade but you will miss a lot of information in just one class. The projects you do are easy if you pay attention but do everything exactly and do ALL questions. Everyone needs to turn in all questions answered or she won't accept it.
Taking her for an online class. She decides which of your emails she'll respond to. When she does respond its in a spiteful reactive manner. When she grades she contradicts what her prompt initially requested. Not easy to get along with or approachable by any means.

If you think your not attending class or doing homework take another class. Or better yet just get a job. Ms Roman explains the class but you need to ask questons or you will be lost. Email her she will repsond. Very tough class.
Class was horrible worked in groups for most of the assignments and it was dumb. Grading was horrible and you would think your doing good until you got your graded assignment. Not really helpful and her system of teaching needs work. I retook the class at sac as i heared all teachrs at pac were the same, got an A at sac.

She was a great professor! She always gives opportunities to get a higher grade with bonus points on the midterm and final. Did not like the online hw, that was the only thing that brought my grade down..however, class was basically demand and supply sort of terms. Make sure to read the chapters while doing the online hw!

I went into this class knowing that it was going to be hard, however I did not expect this professor to be so unclear on a subject that is already difficult to understand. I dropped this class and now I will have to pay more at a 4yr university to take it. I was told that the professor there will work with you to make you understand the work.
Okay, I was super excited about this class. I really enjoy Economics, but Roman is awful. She was completely unclear, her tests were nothing like the reviews. She does not reply back to emails, phone calls, or any form of contact. If you need an economics class find a different professor!!

shes a good teacher but you have to pay attention and take notes on every class
She's a horrible teacher don't take her class!! She doesn't teach very well at all and expects the students to know the material, she doesn't review for the final but only gives you the sample quiz or test that has nothing to do with the actual test. I you can take it with someone else or elsewhere.
I got a A for Microecon. She is a nice lady and cares for the students, but she is a tough teacher. You have to read the book, even though the homework looks nothing like it. She expects a lot from her students, and doesn't explain questions you have. However she does offer extra credit, just show up for class and show your interest, and youll pass
This was an online class She was horrible didn't help even when I went to see her in her office. Most of the class emailed eachother trying to make sense of things but we were ALL confused. We asked simple questions got a worthless answer. DO not take class with her. Confusing, helpless, waist of time. Again if you can take with someone else do so.
I would NOT recommend this professor for ANY online class. When I asked for help and clarification via email some of the you tube videos were helpful. Her other answers were questions back to me. She expects group work for this online class. When 1 person did not submit their work she gave the WHOLE group a ZERO! Not a very good online experience.
You will have quizes everyday, sometimes you can answer them but other times you just have to guess because it's not in the book at all and the tutors from BrainFusecan't figure it out either and they give you wrong answers. If you can choose don't take pick this teacher!!

Having taken this course as a high school senior, I know that I do not have enough experience to know how the average college professor teaches. However, I can say that if every professor is like this one, my college career will be miserable. Not only does she avoid answering your questions, but she refuses to teach at all. Don't take this class!
Makes up terms that cannot be found in the book or lecture notes(or even the internet). Homework accepts answers that she will not. Refuses to give rubrics so it is never clear why she took points off your assignment. Refuses to communicate with you. Sets deadlines before assignments are even released ex: work due July 19, work assigned July 30th
Took her in the summer. Professor gives unrealistic due dates on assignments and changes the rubrics of the course at the last second. Things would count differently as the semester progressed, which gives little consistency to the expectations of grades in the course. She was on to help the class for a 2 hour 4-6 pm. Do NOT take online.
Not at all what I expected all of my homework assignments so far have been online... Apart from having to get the textbook for this class, you are also expected to register for Sapling Learning, This is another site for online homework (This is not free, you do have to pay $40) Honestly this class is very demanding, I wouldn't recommend...
Not lenient. You have to be on top of things by yourself. She's kind. NEVER be late, you'll be embarrassed. Class is rather confusing. Book is mandatory. Doesn't offer extra credit. Grades are as is. Attendance is part of your grade.
Worst class and professor EVER
She is a very nice person. However, her teaching is all over the place. She does require homework, but you have weeks to work on it so do not wait until the last minute to do it! She give a mid-term test and final test they are both difficult because her review is unclear. As long as you do the work with effort you should pass.
I took her for spring 2016 and I would have to say she is the worst professor ever. If you need help in her class her favorite response is did you read the book. I did and she still would answer questions. She treats students as if they're beneath her and this is coming from someone who already has a degree, had a military career and a business.
Very hard to understand what is going on. You are basically teaching yourself. Asking her questions is mostly meaningless since she tell you its in the text book. Make sure to keep up with all your work. Take advantage of the extra credit she provides.

Ah. Belinda Roman. Better known as Dr. Roman. Why, oh god, why? Why must she hurt us so? This class almost pushed me off of my cliff of sanity. 0/10 would never take again.
Worst professor I've ever had! She absolutely refuses to help, and will always refer you to your textbook. If you think you can have a free weekend, when enrolled in this class. You're sorely mistaken. This woman is a menace to society. Should be locked away in an insane asylum. I've had to end relationships because she spams assignments. 0/10
Terribly hard class, she never helps with actual question and always refers to the textbook. Never actually teaches and just lets the textbook teach the class.
Tons of reading and homework. When asking for assistance she'd just refer you to the textbook, which wasn't very helpful at all. She requires you to use a webcam during exams to make sure you're not cheating. Also, during exam time she doesn't give you anything to help you prepare for it. Just says to review the homework and textbook.
The best teacher ever, always sympathetic to everyone's needs. Answers emails promptly and gives straight and relevant answers when it counts the most. This professor is very intuitive and has the answer to your question pratically before you even ask it. A diamond in the rough is the way I would interpret this professors qualifications.
The WORST class I've ever taken! I took her class online & you pretty much just read the entire book yourself, no additional input from her. She give you plenty of time to do homework which you'll need because the questions are ridiculous and half of them are not covered in the book. Midterm and final only 25 questions with most ?'s not on review
I would not recommend students to take this professor. The homework is more than twice as much as any other economic classes I have taken. The book gives little help to the questions she asks and her hints for the homework are just more questions that repeat the main question. The final is comprehensive and covers almost the whole textbook.
I didn't choose this class, was placed in it and it was hell. This professor makes things way harder then they need to be. Avoid if possible.
Takes long to email back. When problems occur for group assignments she is no help at all; wants problems resolved within the group. didnt even show up to our final even though we scheduled a meeting immediately afterwards. Lots of homework. Homework program costs $40. Attendance is a grade.
Taking this class was traumatizing. For tests, she gave us info like someone threw a baseball at a blind kid. She made things complicated, confusing, and refused to cooperate with students. Overall 1/10. Taking this class is like playing Fallout: New Vegas on Hardcore.
This class has caused me to lose an immense amount of sleep, which I will never get back. She was a very picky grader if you didnt put what she wanted, she deducted points. There isnt much you can do once you start to fall behind, because she does not offer much EC. She is very vocal with her opinion, even in the most unnecessary of times. 0/10

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She's deceiving at first and will make you think she's going to make sure you pass and then right when you need help she is no where to be found. With my class she basically stopped teaching us. It was a fend for yourself type of thing. The Sapling has absolutely nothing to do with the exams. 0/10
Was pleasantly surprised to get the worst class and "professor" out of the way in one semester of summer. She's basically useless and the book was written by someone who probably flunked economics themselves. Overall, 10/10 professor. Would take the class again if I was a masochist or dumb and loved bad professors.

The Sapling Learning platform was great for learning and applying concepts from the book. The final was NOTHING like the coursework. Don't ask questions, you don't get help except that you are "overcomplicating" the issue or that you should read your textbook. The Final required a special browser and webcam, which is highly inconvenient. Avoid.
Professor Roman helped me immensely. I don't think there is any smarter teacher at Palo Alto than her. I have understanding of economics I thought was not possible.
Wow! I was worried cause lots of bad stuff here on her. But Roman helped me out every time I asked. I had to work kinda hard, but that's cause I'm not a math person. I'm glad I took her even after reading the stuff on this thingy. I could tell Roman was having trouble getting to some of m class, but most here are lazy, don't work at anything.
Very tough, but I did leave with some econ knowledge. Tough semester, but not regretting that class now that I'm done.
Professor Roman is tough, but I think really knows economics. She is very smart, seems to see economics in all things, which I guess makes sense since she teaches it. Glad to get it behind me, though.
Would not recommend for future students. you teach yourself most of the criteria though sapling. she always questions you in class rather than teaching. does not explain the criteria deep enough for our understanding. legit told us to aim for a 70 on the final, shows that she does not even believe in her own teaching. multiple students did not pass
At first I had trouble since I didn't know anyting about this stuff. Professor Roman worked with me, so I got the material enough to even get a good grade. Her teaching is very step by step, miss out and no go. But by end of course I was even getting the graphs online ok. Trying to sign up with her for other econ gotta take.
Shes smart and an expert in economics, but is a terrible professor. You learn everything through sapling rather than being taught. Would definitely not recommend.
Best experience I've had with an economics teacher. She helped me learn and understand and I felt like I really got the subject at last. Very patient. Good we'll thought out lectures. Interesting and fun teaching style with loads of examples. Committed and fair. Great teacher.
