Over-all, a very helpful instructor. Homework is harder than examples on the notes, tests harder than homework, week-in-review harder than tests so use that to study with. To get a good grade, use supplemental materials like streaming videos, week-in-reviews, etc. You really have to put out the extra effort in this class.
Good prof, explains concepts in a meaningful way. Very large workload with this course but he wasn't a jerk about busy work. It's not easy though, for a good grade, you will have to use everything at your disposal
Explained all material very thoroughly and did not move on until he thought we all understood. Overall a great teacher, I really learned a lot in his class.
Nice Prof.
Mr. Aurispa is really great. You can tell he cares about his students learning. He makes notes you can print out ahead of time and is super clear when explaining math. Study for his exams though, I made the mistake of not studying much for the first and did not do well.
One of the best professors/human beings I have ever been around. Really cares about the students and is willing to work with you through things you are struggling with. If you prepare for the test you should be able to make an A or B. Overall, amazing professor.
Good all-around person and lecturer. I highly recommend going to his office hours. This class is hard even for those who are average at math (like me).
Great prof. Very easy to follow during lecture and very helpful. It's just unfortunate that he teaches a very tough class.
Amazing teacher. He is willing to help. He is also very nice. However, the tests are very hard, and there are some hard homework which is manageable as long as you don't procrastinate. You have to study a lot for the tests.
Mr. Aurispa is a genuinely awesome guy. He takes the time to go over numerous examples for the different types of problems that will be on the test, and he goes at a pace that allows you to understand the material and stay ahead. Go to his office hours!!! He is very helpful when you have questions, and he takes the time to get to know you and help.
What a great professor! Worked out tons of problems during lecture and always stopped to make sure everyone understood. If you're stuck on a problem he is very helpful in office hours. Tests are hard but that's because they're common exam. Every calc student takes the same test. Take Ben! I'm signing up for him next semester for 152
He is a great teacher with great examples. Miss class? lecture notes posted online. TAKE HIM!
Ben is a great instructor! Calculus isn't an easy course to most but he glues the material in your brain. I found the material very doable but the common exams were a little tricky. My advice is to look over your textbook and understand some of the definitions. But take the course with him!
Really great lectures plan on taking as many calc classes as possible with him.
He is an awesome teacher but the tests are just difficult.
Prof. Aurispa was very clear and helpful. He explained everything very in depth and clearly. There was quite a bit of homework and studying involved in this class. The tests which are common throughout the course were very tough, but he tried his hardest to prepare us for them.
Professor Ben is just my favorite! I took math 151, and I made an A! That was tough, but once you put an effort - you will succeed! I was registered for another professor for math 152, but I changed my whole schedule, dropped all other courses and forced myself in one of his sections. I am sure that was worth it!
He teaches good
Yes, the tests are hard (homework can be challenging), but he isn't the one making them, all the classes will have the same kind. He is really easy going, talks clear and elaborates just enough to where he isn't blabbing but makes it to where you can easily understand it for the most part. Would so take him again!
Absolutely the best Calculus professor at the University!!! Ben is awesome and made this class bearable. He is a super nice guy and always willing to help. It's not his fault the common exams suck, but he does his absolute best to present the material in a way that you are able to follow.
Ben is the best Professor I've had at TAMU, is the most amazing guy. And no doubt is the hottest Professor out there I mean his picture on the tamu web page gets me going lol. He's such a good lecturer that other people from other 152 classes come to our lecture cause their profs suck. I highly highly recommend Ben to anyone. Plus he posts notes
Aurispa is the best math professor at A&M. His lecture notes are amazing study tools and often have problems like what you see on the homework. I took him for 151 and am taking him again for 152 and without him I would probably be failing this class. His lectures draw people from other classes so make sure to show up early, not just on time.
He is honestly the best Professor for engineering math. His notes are clear and go well with the homework and he is very approachable if you have any questions. Take his classes and you wont regret it!
He's a great calculus professor. I would highly recommend taking him for Math 152 or 151. He makes notes so you can print them out and go along with him as he works out problems. He teaches all the material you need to know for tests in a clear manner. If you do the homework and study the notes, you're sure to make a good grade.
By far the best math prof at TAMU. He always had the highest test averages out of all professors and he truly cares that you understand. Cal 2 has been one of my easiest college courses yet thanks to Ben. Show up to class, FOCUS in lecture, do your homework (try without notes first) and it's an easy A. His class fills up immediately so be quick!
One of my favorite professors from freshman year because of his helpfulness and how clear and helpful his lectures are. The common exams are hard but he does his best to prepare you for them. The only exam he gets to right is the final and it tends to be straightforward.
Lets be honest who doesn't love Ben he is the best! He is a great prof. I didnt have him for 151, but because we had common exams I attended his lectures instead of my profs, so even if you don't get him I recommend doing that. He informed me of the section he would be teaching for 152 ahead of time so that I was able to get in his 152 class.
Ben is is the best, lets be real. He is so precise and accurate in his explanations. I got above 95's on everything in the course, except for MATLAB (5%), It was the easiest course I've taken. Easy A if you aren't lazy, guaranteed B.
Ben is awesome. I had him for 151 and skipped my 152 prof's lectures to go to his. He is exceptionally organized, clear, and helpful. He does a great job of explaining things to make sure everyone understands. He reviews for tests and posts notes that cover everything that ends up on tests. Very do-able A, should be a guaranteed B if you work hard.
Professor Aurispa is amazing! He is always there to answer questions and offer help when needed. His lectures are clear and he posts notes and filled notes online which is really helpful if you miss class. He's by far the best math prof I've had, so I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Aurispa is an excellent professor. His lectures and homework are very representative of the tests. Professor Aurispa is always professional and helpful. His office hours are very helpful, but if you need more help there are plenty of other resources like the "week in review" and tutoring in Evans. Also don't cheat on the MatLAB assignments
He is great! I didn't have calculus background so I struggled through some of the material but he was an awesome teacher. Very willing to help you succeed. Very generous when it came to curves/grading. He posts the notes online in case you miss something and he is very good about communicating via email.
Ben has hands down been the best professor I've had since I've been at A&M. All his notes can be found online and he's always willing to help. His lectures reflect the material that's going to be on the test and his final was straight forward, no tricks. Awesome professor.
When you ask about the best Calculus teachers at A&M, you'll probably hear about Amy Austin. Let me tell you that I have taken her class and Ben's and Ben offers the SAME QUALITY of in-class instruction. He's great at explaining things, he cares about his students and relates to them. I just wish he taught calc 3.
Ben is a fantastic professor and a really nice guy. He explains the material and answers questions very well, his printable note outlines are great. Working past exams is the best way to study for tests. I would absolutely take him again.
This guy rules! A very fair grader on exams, clear explanations of all concepts and extremely approachable. Very accommodating in the sense that he doesn't get annoyed if you email him questions instead of stopping by during office hours and his notes are posted online. I wish he taught linear algebra. Don't skip and miss out on a great instructor!
Super sad Ben doesn't teach Cal 3 because he is by far the best math teacher I've ever had ever. He really preps you well for exams. The material in this class is tough but he is definitely the guy to learn it from. He has print outs for all of his notes and posts them online if you happen to miss a lecture.
Ben is the best lecturer I have ever had in my life. He explains thing so well and gives his quizzes and exams exactly based on what he lectures on. There isn't anything super tricky or random with this dude. Go and be blessed by his lectures, study your quizzes, homework, and his lecture notes, and you should be good to go. TAKE BEN! I promise you
Ben is a fantastic math professor. He teaches clear and lets you know all the material that you will need for the exam and homework. He posts notes online so you can print out the outline for the notes online and take them to class. Even though attendance is not mandatory, I rarely missed class because his teaching always helped me.
I absolutely loved Ben Aurispa. He is one of my favorite math professors that I have taken and would want him in any future math classes. He is fabulous at explaining concepts and making me understand them. He has a good mix of theory and examples in lectures and is also quite entertaining
Professor Aurispa lectures very clearly and concisely. Notes are available to print off prior to class, and all you have to do is fill in the blanks as he goes through the notes on the board. The course itself was very easy, and so long as you show up to class and listen, an A is definitely possible. He cares about his students, which is nice.
Great prof. He is great at explaining concepts and gives fair tests. Would take again. Has quizzes around once a week, he will warn you about some, some will be pop quizzes, and some will be take home. He is also pretty available for help.
There is a lot of homework but its pretty easy. Nothing in this class is hard but you do need to study for tests. He is really nice and actually makes math easy. I have never been great at math but passed with an A. Highly recommend.
Ben is amazing! The homework is consistent and there are weekly quizzes, but if you keep up with your homework then you will have no problem at all on either the quizzes or the tests. He explains things so well and is always open to answering questions because he really wants you to succeed. Highly recommend. Would take him again any day!
Ben is humble, funny and very chill. Very similar to a fun high school teacher. If you miss class, he posts his notes online. Most importantly he explains concepts better than any other math teacher I have ever had considering 140 is mostly concepts that have been covered in high school. TAKE AURISPA
If you ever had a chill math teacher in High School, that is Ben. He is very casual but wants you to do well. There are a few quizzes and homework is due weekly, but if you take good notes and go to class you should do fine. He was probably my favorite prof this semester. He knows we just want to do well, and he will help you do that.
Ben is a really nice guy! I would definitely recommend him. There are lots of quizzes but he drops the lowest grade. Tests aren't too bad. Had I studied more efficiently/not been so stressed out about the rest of my course load, I really feel as if I would have gotten an A! Take Ben, you'll be glad you did!!!
Ben is an awesome teacher on campus. Math has never been my forte, but he breaks it down in ways that are super easy to understand. TAKE BEN! He provides print out notes online for you and even posts the finished ones on his web page. He also really wants you to succeed. So pay attention in class, and you will make an A!
Great math teacher, had him for a brand new course (Math 140) and he handled it very well. Managable to make an A in as long as you show up to class and focus (which I did not my first half of the semester, resulting in a B) Homeworks are easy and lets you know of quizzes week in advance
Ben was amazing. His classes were easy to follow and, while math isn't a subject I enjoy, he made his lectures interesting by just being a pretty great person all around. His sass level is gold and he really does clear up a lot of questions that you may have about the subject. There's weekly homework that counts for a grade, attendance not taken.
Ben is a great prof! Lectures move slowly and he does many examples to ensure your understanding. His lectures are very important to your learning. Homework and lecture examples are easy. Tests and quizzes do require studying. Overall not too bad, just pay attention and do the homework.
Ben really cares about his class. If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask; he'll take the time to make sure everyone understands! His lectures are through and include great examples. He posts them online and it's great review material! The online homework is easy (don't wait until last minute!) and helpful. Would take his course again!
He was very clear at explaining the concepts and making sure everybody understood each step. His lectures were engaging and he has a great personality that makes it easier to pay attention. Would definitely recommend him!
Aurispa is definitely the math professor that you want to take. He makes lectures fun and interesting, but also teaches in a way that is easy to understand and retain. He cares about his students, and his class is just a fun one to be in.
Ben is fantastic. His lectures are great and he explains the material in a way that is simple and easy to understand. Everything in his class is straightforward and he is a very fair grader. If you have the opportunity to take 152 from him, do it. There aren't many professors out there like him.
Ben is a great prof. Entertaining as possible considering the material and explains concepts really clearly. His examples in the class notes are extremely valuable as well -- they cover every exceptional/strange case somewhere which makes exams less stressful.
Ben is absolutely amazing! He by far is the best math professor I've ever had. He explains the material to where it is very easy to understand, and he truly cares about his students. He is always willing to work with students outside the classroom and is extremely helpful during office hours. If you put in the effort, an A is definitely doable!
Ben is beyond amazing. By far the best math teacher I've ever had. This guy could run A+ if Ali needed a day off. Crystal clear lectures, fantastic handwritting, & funny. Completely open to questions and re-explaining concepts. Very approachable. Could not recommend higher. Would 1000% take again. He made 152 completely manageable, love this guy.
Looking for the best math professor? Stop searching because you've found him. Register for Ben's class at all costs. Yea getting out of class at 5 PM sucks. But you know what sucks more? Teaching yourself 152 because your prof is terrible and doesn't speak English. You'll thank me later. TAKE HIM!
He was a super chill teacher, but really knew how to teach the material. Overall enjoyed his lectures. He was able to keep student's attention. Would definitely recomment for Cal 1.
Ben is the best math teacher I've ever had. He clearly explains the material in a way so everyone can understand it. He's also hilarious and loves to talk to students after class. Don't skip lecture if you're feeling lazy because he has so many awesome math tricks and examples for good practice. Make sure you take him!
Probably the best math teacher/professor you'll ever have
Ben is a great prof. Not many math profs like him. If you need cal, definitely take him. Provides detailed lectures and notes are posted online in case you miss class (go to all the lectures you can, as he gives great tips/tricks and tells many jokes!) He's down to earth, more than willing to help you and just a wonderful person. Take him!!
He works through problems and makes sure that everything is clear. He makes this class very easy if you show up and work the problems with him.
Ben Aurispa is a great math teacher. He works through examples of every type of problem in class and is always willing to answer questions. His homeworks and quizes are very similar to what he does in class so they are not to hard. If you show up to class and study past exams you will do good in his class.
Best Prof Ever! I actually enjoyed going to this class and learning from Ben. He's there to teach and help us and he does a great job of it too. He made calc 2 easier than calc 1. If you do your basic work and go to class you'll be totally fine. If you miss a few days it's still ok cuz he puts his notes up. Highly recommend to take him!! He's fun!!
Best Prof ever take him if you get the chance, he made the class that is supposed to be the hardest math very manageable, homework due every Thursday but nothing too much, he will make sure you pass the class, do not miss class he explains in detail everything in there and thats where you will learn the most
Ben is by far the best math teacher I've ever had. He always goes over the material in detail & his lectures are super helpful (don't skip!). He always has a ton of examples covering different cases, making the exams easy as long as you study & practice. He's also pretty funny during lecture and helpful outside of class. Definitely recommend!
he's hilarious and explains things well
I cannot recommend Aurispa enough, if you're looking for a math professor and he is open, stop looking at reviews and sign up. He is great at explaining topics and makes what many consider a difficult course pretty easy. Probably one of the best professors that I've ever had. Didn't use the textbook with his lectures.
Aurispa was amazing, and has been my favorite professor so far. He's sweet and funny and truly cares about his students. He posts all of his notes online (even if he threatens that he won't). Attendance isn't mandatory.
Aurispa is arguably the greatest math teacher I have ever had (albeit, TAMU has several phenomenal math profs). He explains stuff clearly and thoroughly. He works several examples that showcase either unique cases of a concept or a twist on the concept. He does an excellent job of teaching.
I, a liberal arts major, took this class because I was told I was "too scared" to take it. That being said, I thought this class was easy and enjoyed the material. Ben is an excellent lecturer as far as teaching goes and actually makes lecture entertaining. He is accessible outside of class and is very clear in his expectations.
I highly recommend Aurispa because he is a great math teacher. He explains the concepts well so I understand them right away. Make sure you go to class even though it's optional. He is also really approachable and helpful if you ask him questions or go to his office hours. I really enjoyed this class and it was really easy to get an A.
Ben is probably the best math prof for 152. If you are wanting a prof that really cares about his students, he's the guy. Although he does tend to over explain things, he walks through a variety of problems for each topic that could appear on the exams.
Take this professor. He truly cares about his students and makes problems crystal clear. His notes are incredible and he knows the content he is teaching well. He also doesn't do research, meaning he is only teaching to actually be a teacher (what a concept). Would recommend 110% Note: DO NOT FLAKE AT THE END OF THE YEAR (the content gets hard)
One of the best math professors I've had so far. The course material itself is hard, but Aurispa goes at a very good pace& answers any questions students have. He goes over lots of examples in class, provides reviews& past exams as study materials. Weekly homework can be a grade booster, but the lab is pointless if you're not an engineering major.
This man is a wizard. I am really he could teach a rock how to do calculus. His office hours are amazing, you can meet other people and form study groups and he fosters a real positive learning environment both at his office hrs and at lectures. He is strict but fair and always willing to talk to students, as he genuinely cares about student's edu
Love this guy so much. I can't remember if I already rated him, but I'm doing it again anyway. Best prof I had in my freshman year of college- the only class I made sure to never skip because I knew I would never understand it myself the way he could teach it to me. Super chill and caring person. Wish I could take him again.
Amazing dude. Good memes, so dont skip class bruh. Do hw and go to class ez A.
Best professor I've had in my time at A&M. Very clear on grading criteria and it is clear that he actually cares about his students. I had him for both MATH 151 and 152 and would not have gotten an A in either class without him.
Best prof I've taken, I wish he was teaching MATH 251!!!
I was not in his class, but I went to his lectures because they were so good. He takes difficult concepts and makes them easy to understand. He posts all of his notes and wants each of his students to learn. I highly recommend.
So I had Belmonte for the first half of the semester, but for some reason Belmonte left and we got Ben instead. And THANK GOD that happened. I went from getting 50s on exams to getting 90s without changing any habits or adding effort. I simply sat in Bens lectures, followed the notes, and got an A despite my two poor exam scores.
Ben is a fantastic professor. His lectures really help you understand the material and he explains concepts well. He is a fair grader. When he says he gives partial credit on exams, he really means it! Overall, he is a solid professor who is excellent at teaching and fair with the grading so do your work and you can make an A.
If you have a chance to take Dr. Aurispa for any math class I would go for it! He is passionate for the subject and can explain difficult materials very well. Math lab and recitation suck but go to them because they help your grade out. Do the past common exams and the homework and you will be good for the class.
Best prof ever
Best math teacher/professor I've ever had. He explains the material really well and makes everything look so easy.
Ben is a great lecturer. He makes tough concepts easy to follow and breaks everything down.
Ben is the best math prof/teacher I have ever had. He makes cal 2 so easy because his lectures are just that good. You can print out his notes to stay organized and go to week in reviews if you're still a little confused. Cal 2 is a hard class however so you're gonna have to put the work in but i would highly recommend Ben.
Really funny guy, good lecturer, just kind of disorganized notes. Methods of solving problems were kind of confusing.
He is easily one of the best professors Ive ever had. Ben is truly there to teach you, and he cares about making sure everyone understands the material. Ive made 100s on all the tests when I made a C in PreCalculus last semester.
He is the best math teacher I've ever had. You don't need to read your textbook as long as you attend lectures and take notes. His lectures are amazing. MATH 152 is one of the hardest classes engineers take in General engineering, but he made the class so much easier.
I never would've passed Calc 2 if it weren't for Ben. If you struggle with calc at all, having Ben is a MUST. He uses methods that other profs don't use to make concepts easier. He only teaches to the test and knows what the common exams will be like which helps a lot. I dropped 152 last semester, with Ben I made a B with a shot at a making an A.
Awesome person & great teacher. Taught 251 for 1/2 sem. after Art Belmonte. Genuine guy & very helpful in office hours. Do the suggested HW and go to class and you'll do fine on exams. Notes are also succinct and helpful for review.
Leaving this review because I love him. The only class I enjoyed going to lectures to. His lectures are AMAZING!! He explains everything with clarity and his notes are so well written out. Plus he is funny! Studying your notes and doing mymathlab hws will get you an A. Would 100% recommend & take again. I might take his other class in the future.
If you took AP Calc AB, feel free to skip sometimes. Do the homework. Tests are worth 20% of your semester grade each, so be sure you're getting stuff done. Go to recitation to take the quizzes and do the activities, they're good gauges to see how well you know the material. He's really easy to learn from and super good about explaining.
Very good guy. Lectures are very informative so don't skip. Very understanding and definitely cares a lot about his students. Easy class if you put in the work.
Best math teacher I've ever had. I took MATH 147 and 172 with him- he posts helpful online notes that allow you to stay focused during lectures, and genuinely cares about making sure everyone understands. I've always loved math, but he truly makes it fun by bringing lots of energy and his unique sense of humor to the classroom.
BEST BEST BEST math professor ever! I hate math but he made me really enjoy calculus! Would take any class offered from him.
Truly one of the greatest teachers of all time. I was walking across the street and I was hit by a car. I was about to die when Mr. Aurispa showed up and saved my life. Goat.
This man gave me a belly rub!!!! I love him so much!!!!
Best professor ever. Taught me many things like rizz but he is also a great math professor.
