for a young guy...he's really boring. like, seriously boring. perhaps more boring than you'd ever expect. Not a terrible class, pretty easy but man, does this guy drone on. It's a boring class because he's so bored teaching it.
exactly what the user below says: SOO BORING. but, i did practically none of the readings and just made sure i took notes and went to class and pulled off a B+...all tests have an essay portion, but it actually helps your grade bc it is very easy to bs. avoid if possible, but not horrible if your stuck with him

Where do I even begin. This class is not only boring, but it is also very difficult to follow, to understand and to stay awake in. He mumbles, his expectation are very high, gets off-track often. I strongly suggest that you do not take him. He is obviously very intelligent, but does not know how to teach, and has poor social and speaking skills.
Yes Brewer is boring but this class isnt half bad. The tests are simple, the readings are short, and he is very lenient. There is no attendance policy, and although he has problems with structuring the class he's pretty funny and laid back. I'd recommend him because its a pretty easy B.
material is pretty straight forward, not hard if you go to class because he talks about the readings. he curves, so it's easy to get a good grade.
This class is horrible. Maybe if you're a soc' major to begin with this class is easy and interesting, but for everyone else just taking a GenEd requirement, I am SURE there are better ones out there. I think he's vague, unorganized, and he doesn't know what his limits are as a professor. It's super boring, and nothing is straightforward!!
brewer is a pretty cool guy. Although the class is a little all over the place, its obvious that he is still finding his niche as a professor. The reading is pretty interesting, and you learn some pretty cool stuff. He doesn't have an attendance policy, and cancelled class several times. bottom line, a solid pick for a gen ed course
Believe me, I am not exaggerating; he is that bad! Then again, I also had him during his first year, and that is a rough year for a teacher. I hope for your sake that he has improved. This man didn't even agree with the text that he chose, not that I blame him, but still!
Pretty tough class. Extremely boring, but attendance is not required. Not an easy A for a Gen Ed at all.
very approachable, great in office hours, not that hard of a class as long as you listen in class. i didn't open my book all semester and got an A
Brewer is one of the easiest professors Ive ever had at JMU! He is funny, laid back and really approachable. If you do the required work, which is very little you will get a good grade! His class is really interesting. He tends to go off on tangents bu they are HILLARIOUS and worth every second. You have to take him!
very understanding and helpfull with assignments. just 4 homework assignments and 1 final paper. barely any reading. in class assignments are not graded but used for attendance purposes. laid back, chill, easy going dude. easy B.
I'm not a sociology major and I found the class really interesting. He's a laid back guy, hilarious when he gets off track. Knows what he's talking about and does a good job of conveying important points. Good class if you go/take notes.
Excellent teacher who tells you exactly what you need to know for tests and whatnot. Interesting material and fun class. Don't come in expecting an easy grade, but pay attention and you'll get one. Funny guy too. Don't know what the deal is with people who do poorly in his class, because it's not that hard.
it's all lecture, so it's going to be boring, but if you talk to him outside of class he's a really cool guy. He's really chill and an EXTREMELY fair grader. Essay tests but they're not nit-picky things. He's looking to see if you understand the material, and if you do, you'll do great! he's very helpful. Take Him!
He's really a cool guy. He cracks silly jokes and gets off track, which can be a good or bad thing, but he's likeable and knows what he's talking about. He's also easy to approach, not intimidating. He's pretty good.
LOVED this class. it is boring at times but is overall pretty good. you dont need to read the book but do need to think. his tests are kinda easy if you read his notes and go to class. classes are not madatory but if you show up on fridays he notices and i think it helps with gradeing. take him he is funny and kinda sarcastic all the time.
Dr. Brewer is the man. He sometimes completely over thinks things, but he's always entertaining while doing it. The class is boring at first, but gets much better. Trust me, he makes the class as interesting as it can possibly be just because of his personality and humor. Very easy to get a B, but not so easy to get an A. Brewer is a good guy.
Brewer is the best, because he's not very old and he is so laid back. I didn't think the tests were hard although they were short ans. and you weren't sure what would be picked. He is so easy to talk to about life. You also have to write 3 reaction papers, I got a check plus on the last paper.
He's a really laid back guy- you almost always get out at least 5 minutes early. The wording on tests can be a little difficult to understand at first, but his study guides are really helpful. Gets off on a lot of tangents, but is pretty comical. I'd take him again for sure!!
I'd recommend taking Brewer. He's a cool guy and it was probably my easiest class first semester. Usually pretty entertaining in class, and if you study enough and are a good writer A's on tests are pretty manageable.
Brewer is nice enough, but his lectures are completely vaugue and unorganized and doesn't know how to give straightforward answers. Tests are all short-answer and aren't too hard if you read the book and are a comprehensive reader. No final and doesn't take attendance.
Brewer is a good guy, the class is very interesting not to mention easy/fair. 3 reaction papers and 3 tests. Gives a review before the test. He's pretty funny too.
I love Brewer! I really looked forward to going to his class because he always adds a little humor to his lectures and gives good examples. I followed him really well through each chapter and if you do the readings his lectures are really helpful so the tests aren't bad. He gives no assignments and is really chill. Love him!
Easiest class ever, class was supposed to meet twice a week and we had a podcast one day so only had to go one day a week. Brewer gets off topic very easily, but it was somewhat entertaining. I would recommend this for an easy A
Brewer is very funny, great guy. class is very discussion based which is intimidating. 40% of grade is participation and attendance. Very smart professor but not the best at teaching, i think thats why its so discussion based. interesting readings occasionally. blog involved.
His lectures are all over the place and unorganized. Easy to get an A on the tests only if you put in alot of work. 2 reaction papers for completion and you have to post on the online blog which is a pain.
Brewer makes himself personable and easy to approach. I think in an attempt to increase student participation in class discussion, and it worked for me! The class is much more fun if you participate and become involved. He is easy to talk to during his office hours and is helpful in clarifying any questions.
Nice guy but weird. Tries to make jokes a lot. Tests arent too bad, you get a cheat sheet. not alot of work and the class only meets once a week.
I RECOMMEND! Brewer is awesome. He's a great guy and makes class entertaining. I had no interest in GSOCI110 before taking this class but now I'm actually picking up a sociology minor. TAKE HIM TAKE HIM! You won't regret it.
Great guy, funny if you like a dry sense of humor. The class only meets once a week. The tests are all true/false but they really aren't that bad. Listen to the podcasts right before a test and you'll at least get a B. He gives you a study guide and you get a cheat sheet. You also have to make regular posts on the blog which gets kind of annoying.
Brewer is a nice guy, but his class is seriously so boring. I do not recommend home to anyone. His test are 60 T/F questions, so you have to know everything. He is very unorganized during lectures. You have 3 exams, 9 online blog post (annoying), and 2 one page reaction papers (easy, but don't count a lot). We just have class on Wednesday.
Class only meets once a week with online classes the day class doesn't meet. As long as you take notes on the online lectures you'll do well on the tests. The lectures in class are so boring, I always fall asleep but attendance isn't mandatory and you don't miss much by not going. The online blog posts are annoying (have to do 9). Otherwise easy.
It's a mix class so you only meet once a week and you don't even need to go to do well in the class. Very boring class unless you are interested in it. Tests are so easy and you get a cheat sheet. Just make sure you do the blog posts.
He would assign readings but I never did them. The tests consist of take home writing assignments. You'll end up with a B if you work and if you work extra hard you might get an A. He's such a chill guy that wants you to just get it so he's lax when in class
You get out what you put into this class. There is a ton of reading, so don't fall behind! He grades the essays (which are the exams)kind of hard. Even though some of the readings were really dry, I learned a lot from this class even despite it being four weeks long. I wouldn't take this class again, but I'd definitely take him for another class!
Teaches the class through the first half of the year. Then second half of the year is workshop sessions where you plan and work through assignments towards your final proposal at the end of the semester
This was my first online class and it was a really good one! Professor Brewer uses a blog format to have students interact and discuss the readings. The class is really interesting and all of the discussions are very helpful in understanding different prospectives. Deadlines for the blo are just weekly so you have time to pace yourself.
Dr Brewer helped me switch into the soci major this past semester and I haven't regretted it since. This was a very interesting class, but definitely requires work. We had weekly blog participation and papers. Very flexible timing for everything, which was great because I work full time. He really makes you think and I can't wait to take him again!
OMG was this class interesting! While not the hardest class ever, it was challenging. Mostly due to a whole lot of info condensed into 4 weeks. Participation is counted through weekly blogs and there are three exams that can be considered "take home". Very flexible and extremely interesting. Would highly recommend you take him in class if possible.
This was my first online class and I loved it! Prof Brewer set up the class in such a fun way which allowed us all to communicate our view points about topics and discuss them with each other. Loved this class and would totally take his class again!
Thought this class would be an easy A gen ed course. The class is heavily weight on exams (worth 90% of your grade). That being said the exams are online so you can use your notes and can take with other students. Other 10% of grade is doing chapter summaries from the book graded on completion. He is HILARIOUS and likes to get to know his students.
I would highly recommend taking him! Lectures are kinda long and boring, but he tries his best to keep people interested and he's really funny. There isn't much work to be done for the class and he lets you take exams with other students. There's no attendance policy, but I recommend going to class because he talks about a lot of stuff on the test
Professor Brewer is great! Fall '16 if first time he's done SOCI110 lecture in a long time, and admittedly it shows. However, this doesn't detract from the quality of the course. Sociological mindedness improved, and with the rust off I would highly recommend this class. I missed a few lectures and was ok. BUY ALL THE BOOKS. You will use them all.
Prof. Brewer was great, his tests were straight forward & actually focused on the concepts he emphasized in class. Short weekly summaries on the readings are simple & ultimately helpful for the online exams & the in class discussion he encourages. He cares and wants you to do well & will glady work with you if you have questions or miss something.
Very interesting class, and great funny professor. Made the course easy to relate to life and helped me see things from a sociological perspective. Tests were online and you could work in groups, and the only other grades were weekly reading notes. Buy the books because you do use them but they are very interesting. Take this class Brewer is great!
He's a awesome teacher! He is super into soci. He makes the class interesting and relevant. If you pay attention and participate then you will get a lot out of it. The homework is easy and fun to do because it is usually just summaries of news articles that have to do with the subject for the week. Take his class! he's a fun guy!
Ben's a gem. He makes sure that you know the coursework but also that you have a good day.
Super nice Professor. You don't HAVE to go to class, but you should for notes and participation. Plus, it's really enjoyable. Brewer is really cool and chill, so if you go to office hours or miss anything he'll help you out. Classroom has a good environment so you can feel comfortable to participate. Easy A if you do the work & put in any effort.
Wouldn't take again. You don't have to show up to class to pass. All tests were online, and he requires one reading summary per week which is also online. Class is discussion based with occasional lecture, didn't feel like I learned anything in class. Nice guy, but dry sense of humor
LOVED HIM!!! the class has like 5 online tests, you can take with people- theyre easy if you do the readings/attend lectures. Really cool guy. He doesnt really care if you come to class but it def helps. Every week we had a reading summary due but it was only 1 point. take him if you can.
LOVED HIM!!! He is absolutely hilarious. Course is an easy A if you do the reading and participate in discussions. Learned a lot in the class - take him and you will think differently about some things in the world! wish i had more classes with him!
He is a very reasonable & chill guy. you def need to go to class and take notes and/or do the readings thoroughly but the tests are pretty easy to do well on if you do that--theyre open notes, taken outside of class, with a group if you want. weekly readings are kinda long but you just turn in a paragraph summary & get 2 freebies you can miss.
He is an awesome professor and a super cool guy! Lectures aren't too heavy and there are weekly reading notes that you can get easy credit for as long as you write a good paragraph. Exams are a little difficult but they can be taken with a group. 5 exams, and no midterm or final.
Brewer is the man. He is very caring and thinks a lot about how the world works. His objective is show students something new that they didn't know before. Attendance is not mandatory. Five online tests (you can work in groups), quite a bit of reading but I normally skim it, pick out the main points and put it for the reading notes submission. Easy
Brewer was such a great professor this semester. His test weren't that difficult mainly because everything on there was covered in class. You do have to read a lot, but most of it is quite interesting. Professor Brewer is super nice and is definitely willing help outside of class. Highly recommend you take this class.
This is definitely my favorite gen ed so far. He's a genuine funny guy who really cares about his students. All you have to do is do the readings, show up to class and take good notes because the tests are online, you can do in groups and with your notes, and lecture based. Such an easy a for a gen ed if you show you care and an amazing teacher!!
He's really nice and relaxed and just wants you to think about the capitalist market in society which is pretty interesting. You do readings and short summaries each week and take online exams with friends outside of class. The exams aren't bad if you actually read and pay attention to lectures. He's your average hipster academic
I liked Dr. Brewer a lot. Cool dude, boring class. Readings weekly are annoying but not too difficult. All tests are online and are short. If you read and listen in class the tests should be very easy. Does not require attendance but makes note of who comes to class and participates and will bump final grade accordingly.
Probably the nicest professor I've ever had. Genuinely cares about his students, loves to encourage class discussion, and listens to everyone's opinions. He cares more about engaging in the subject than teaching for a letter grade, making his class really easy and enjoyable (all tests are online and he encourages collaboration, lowest 2 HW dropped)
TAKE HIM!! Super sweet guy who really loves what he teaches. He practically gives you an A if you show up and listen. All tests are online and you can take them in a group. 5 tests and weekly reading assignments (two get dropped) make up your grade.
He's quirky in a cute way. Eye opening class. Tests are open book, open person, and online. Doesn't take attendance, but if you show up regularly he rounds up your final grade. There are reading responses every week, but just skimming the first paragraph of each section is plenty, so you can finish a response for 50 pages of reading in 20 min.
Took this class online during maymester. Pretty straightforward. You have an exam each week, total of 4. Exams are T/F and multiple choice questions based on readings, lecture podcast, films, and articles. As long as you know the main concepts then your good. Discussion posts each week. Highly recommend this class, you learn a lot about capitalism.
The easiest class I have ever taken at JMU. This professor is super straight forward, really nice guy who understands that this is a gen-ed requirement. He encourages you to take the online exams in a group. As long as you go to class, you will get all the answers for everything as long as you take decent notes.
Professor Brewer is a chill guy that wants you to learn and do well in his class. His lectures though, are not helpful when it comes to the test and he will sometimes spend the entire class period on one slide. 5 exams all online and open note. Weekly reading summaries, but are not difficult. Skimming first paragraph was enough for the summaries.
He is the nicest teacher i've ever had! He genuinely cares about his students and cares more about making his class interesting and engaging than grades. weekly homeworks are easy and tests aren't too bad. he drops your lowest 2 homework grades and if you ever have questions he's so open to listening
I swear I loved taking this class. It was beyond easy and just had to complete reading assignments with your opinion or a summary of it. The lectures were not too bad and occasional movies sometimes. Also all test were online with enough time, so more studying time.
Awesome prof, online exams, easy assignments. Sure, it's an easy GPA boost or gen ed, but you will learn valuable lessons about capitalism and social inquality. Ben Brewer is probably the nicest professor I've had at JMU and I can't wait to take him again. This class embodies what college should be: interesting and educational without the stress
Since this is a senior seminar, you don't really have a choice in professor. Course focuses on the economy and sociology. Starts off very dense and hard, but gets a lot easier. Weekly reading notes are graded easily as long as you clearly did the readings. Exams all essay based and can be hard but not too bad. He's a great guy and cares about you!
Brewer is one of my favorite professors at JMU. His class is very easy as long as you just show up and do the readings. His class is discussion based so classes are fun as long as you do the readings! Very chill and mellow professor!
This was one of the few classes that I felt I really learned from and did not mind reading the textbook. Brewer is a nice guy, a little bit geeky, but genuinely loves what he is doing. His sociology 110 course was mostly discussion based and as long as you did the nightly reading summaries and listened, you can do well on the take home tests.
He's a great professor who makes the material very interesting, plus it's relevant to our lives today. At his request, I will comment that he is "very geeky" and proud of that fact. I found him hilarious and easy to listen to when lecturing. I cannot rate this class highly enough, seriously, take it.
This class was my favorite class this semester! If you end up getting into his class (it fills up really fast) then you're very lucky and are in for a great semester! Weekly readings that aren't too bad and all tests are taken online at home, which is extremely nice. Ben is one of the few professors that realizes what a gen ed is.
Dr. Brewer is such an awesome dude. You have to read some pretty long chapters but if you read and pay attention in class, the online tests aren't bad AT ALL. He's super funny and sweet
Chillest professor but this is not an easy A. The grades for this class are 4 short take home exams (no final), and regular summaries/reactions to LONG textbook or article readings. By no means was this class hard but I expected an A & it was a lot more tedious than I expected. He gives everyone an 85% for every summary at best so do good on tests
A very nice man. Lectures are interesting and if you pay attention and take notes you will do very well. He is a super fair professor. Class grade is based on 6 take home exams that you may use your notes for. I appreciate that fact that if you put in the effort to go to class and listen you will do very well.
Only grades are 6 ONLINE tests. Attendance is not mandatory but its necessary for the tests. You will have to work for your grade but very doable. Take him for SOCI110!!!
He posts all notes online and doesn't take attendance so it's easy to skip but I wouldn't, the notes he posts online don't have enough material for you to do good on tests if you don't go to class. 6 tests and all online based on the textbook and 2 books you read at the end of the semester. Super nice and chill professor for sure.
The class was Work and Society, only the 2nd-semester being offered. Grading isn't really clear, most people don't get higher than a B. Great professor but lectures were super boring and I started skipping regularly towards the end of the semester. Graded on attendance and participation, so talk while you're in class. Exams are essays, super easy.
Some heavy reading but the class is very easy. Show up and participate and you will be rewarded. This was my second time taking Dr. Brewer and I wish I could take him again! Take him and thank me later
His lectures are easy to understand and as an online class it is the perfect amount of work.
This class was awful. Dr. Brewer gave assignments with little to no direction, graded them harshly & offered very little feedback leading into the next step. I had to use Google to figure out how to complete most of the assignments. Do not take him for this class if you don't have to. This class should be face to face. It doesn't work on line.
Brewers lectures are very helpful and interesting to listen too. I would 100% take this class as a gen ed because it is a very manageable course and i never had to worry about this class.
I took this class online asynchronous. I found the textbook readings interesting and the tests were pretty simple if you watched the lectures and understood the unit. Was a good class for a gen ed as he focused on the broader details, not the nitty gritty. Only graded on 7 reasonable length multiple choice tests, with opportunity for EC.
Class was asynchronous and exams were every 2 weeks, so you def have to stay on top of the lectures and readings. He is very lenient with exam due dates, which is really nice. Exams weren't too bad, but def have to read and pay attention to lectures. He also has optional discussion posts for extra credit. Solid choice!
Dr. Brewer was a great professor and very informative! He cares a lot about his student's success. Although it was completely online, I learned a lot in this class. Take him!! He is great!!
I LOVED Dr. Brewer. This class was asynchronous so the work wasn't bad. The class had weekly readings, optional discussion boards, lecture videos, and exams every two weeks or so. Dr. Brewer is good at explaining the class topics and he is accessible outside of class. You have to do the readings to get a good grade, but they are interesting!
Absolutely loved this class, one of my favorite classes taken at JMU. The course load is completely manageable and the readings and lectures are incredibly interesting. Very manageable class, I never felt overwhelmed. Highly recommend!
Don't get me wrong Prof Brewer is a really cool dude and fun to be in his class. He is such a tough grader though. He says he knows u r doing things for the first time but then still will grade you very harshly. Positive is he only actually holds class half the time and more time than not you wont meet itll be on canvas. class is sort of ok w/ him
Online class, had 7 quizzes and those were my only grades, lectures are a bit boring with his voice, don't need a textbook he posts the readings and lectures. Offered weekly discussion for extra credit.
Dr. Brewer is one of my favorite professors I've had in the sociology department. His class is organized in a way that makes the content digestible and easier to understand. He makes his expectations very clear as well as guidelines for each assignment. He also offers clear and constructive feedback, and is very understanding and helpful.
I took SOCI 110 online with Dr. Brewer and it was a well taken course. 7 exams (open note) and extra credit discussions bi-weekly are your only grades however, his tests are short and hit on the overall concepts and not the nitty gritty. He knows its a 100 leveled course and he treats it as such. Awesome professor. Take em!
The exams are open note but they are either all true/false with few multiple choices. The Qs are all worded similarly so it can be confusing. His PowerPoint don't help much. You have to do all the readings. It's not a hard class but I wouldn't take it again. Sociology needs to be interesting for you to enjoy this class otherwise it's just tedious.
Dr. Brewer is just average. It's an online class that requires a couple hours of work per week. Every 2 weeks there's a non cumulative test on what we've covered since the last one. The tests are open note and aren't hard, but some have confusing wording. He's very anti-cheating, so don't even try. I have gotten by without doing any readings.
Never really talked to him because I had him async, but he's a really chill dude. Walked us through all the assignments for each week and was almost always available to help. Assigns a lot of reading, but I never really did the readings and just watched the lectures and got B's on all the tests. Tests can be confusing though.
Brewer is genuinely a good guy who wants kids to succeed. This class requires a lot of reading especially with the main textbook. The tests were the worst part, very difficult not in content but in wording. It feels like he is trying to trick you into choosing the wrong answer. Still, only a few non-cumulative tests and extra credit disc boards.
Professor Brewer is a sweetheart. He really cares about his students and he really does his best. However, I don't think the online format worked for me. Our grades were only based on 7 tests throughout the semester. they were mostly true/false questions that were worded difficultly. but, there were no actual assignments due, and he gives x-credit
I had this class online and found it somewhat difficult. As long as you do and understand the readings and watch his lectures along with it it's pretty easy.
Brewer is an awesome professor, very accesible! It is very test heavy, based on 7 exams (but he ended up dropping our lowest score). And there is extra credit discussion forum every week (can earn up to 5%). I was not a huge fan of the asynchornus, but it was not a hard class. I would take him again!
Professor Brewer was great at teaching, even asynchronously. He was also very understanding. As long as you do the work and watch the lectures, an A is not hard to get.
Prof Brewer was great, and I loved that his class was online and asynchronous. It was necessary to watch the lecture vidoes each week to do well on exams, but if you only skimmed the readings you would still do okay on the exams.
The class was asynchronous but a low work load. 20-30 question exam every 2 weeks but just take notes on his lectures and skim readings and you will get at least a B. I set aside 3 hrs every 2 weeks for this class and i did well with that. He is really supportive and understanding that we have other classes and is willing to work with you.
Overall the class was pretty good. The workload wasn't too much, however, if you're not a good test taker I would not recommend. Your entire grade is based off of 6 exams and some extra credit (you take 7 exams but he drops the lowest). But the content wasn't too hard to understand, he posts videos clarifying things which is really helpful!
I loved Brewer! This was 100% asynchronous, but I thoroughly enjoyed the class. His lectures were YouTube videos that directly went along with the readings. Only graded on 7 exams, but there are optional discussion posts for extra credit each week. Even though class was online, it's clear that he cares about his students!
Good professor, you have to stay on top of the class a lot since it's asynchronous. Just watch his videos he uploads and take notes and you'll do fine. Can actually be very interesting info. Your only graded on tests so study your notes and look over what he uploads.
one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a teacher. He sent out an email due to a flood of concerned students emailing him about their poor test grades and replied with, "I don't know how to help you guys" Such hard tests that don't match lecture videos.Way too much for a gen ed. completely ruined sociology/asynchronous classes for me.
I loved Dr.Brewer! He clearly loves what he is teaching. If you're looking for an "easy A" this isn't it. But the material is incredibly interesting! Grades are all composed of (non-cumulative) exams but he offers weekly extra credit opportunities that equal to up to a 5% bump. The workload is manageable since it's asynchronous.
7 exams throughout the entire semester unless you want to do menial weekly discussions worth nothing
great class I took it online for sociology 110. gave all the information we needed to know, you only have tests that you take online. liked the structure of the class. nice guy. gives extra credit too
This class really makes you think and keeps you engaged, so be sure to keep up with reading the textbook chapters and use the reading guides provided each week. Professor Brewer is extremely knowledgeable and uses a really good approach to teach the material.
highly recommend taking this class, Brewer is awesome & course is asynchronous. Graded on 7 exams (lowest one dropped) & extra credit discussions. Decent amount of studying through reading any assigned materials, videos, & lectures each week, the info is super interesting. Tests are reasonable & straightforward, no trick questions.
Don't take this class if you are a bad test taker. The class is graded entirely by exams that are specific to the readings. I did every reading and never got over a B for the exams. He does give an extra credit opportunity every week, but he won't always give full credit
The class is challenging but engaging. Professor Brewer is knowledgeable and offers extra credit opportunities. Use Unstuck AI alongside the textbook and lectures to stay on top of the material and ace the exams.
This man is the best professor I've ever taken. Even though the class was 100% exams, it was really easy to understand as his lectures were simple, his office hours were accessible, and there was always weekly extra credit. I'd definitely take him again! :)
This class is solely exams, 7 over the course of the semester. There are weekly extra credit opportunities, but I found it difficult to ever receive the full amount of extra credit each week. Overall, he seems very knowledgeable about the topic and cares about his students' success.
Taken online for me. 100% exams and discussion opportunities every week for extra credit (no prompt; you write about anything from lectures). To be honest, I did not read the textbook once. The lectures explain everything in the readings and i haven't got anything lower than a 75%. He drops one and do the discussions!! Great guy and funny.
Great professor! The reading can be a bit much but that's just how the course is- actually DO the readings, they will help GREATLY on the exams (lowest dropped). He provides videos where he briefly goes over the topics each week (and he explains everything very well) + provides extra credit. Easily accessible, pretty funny, and very caring too.
Great professor! First couple of exams were tricky for me personally bc of the wording, but as long as you read, watch the lectures, and trust your gut, you'll be fine! Cares about his students and wants them to do well. Grades are based solely on 7 exams, but they aren't cumulative, which really helps! Extra credit for weekly discussions as well.
Class is fully online ****BUT**** exams are all IN PERSON in the testing center. He just started that this due to cheating, he teaches alright from lecture nothing crazy and the tests are kinda just bs. In addition exams are 100 percent of your grade and you can get extra credit every once in a while but he is super stingy about people using chat.
