EASY Professor!! All you have to do is write 2 papers. Easy stuff just make sure go to class have good notes copy them into paper. He gets pissy about attendance but, you can be absent like 6 times..just make sure have notes from someone who takes good notes if out!! Easy A!!!

Fontana is an excellent professor. His midterm and final exam are take home. There's alot of books to read but if you're good at taking notes you really don't need to buy any of them. He's a fun and intersting so I recommend him to anyone because you really learn in his class.

This class was very interesting. Prof. Fontana knows his stuff, and makes the subject matter interesting - no falling sleep in this class! I was very apprehensive about the take-home papers - as paper writing is not my thing (I'd rather have a 100 question exam), but it turned out well (B-).

The Guy is From Italy and probably has more knowledge of America and it's policies then most of our leaders. Fontana knows his stuff, very funny guy to. About to Finish the class, take his class.

His way to explain makes materials very simple and clear. Although the book is a little bit difficult to read, if you just listen to his explanation, you will be understanding in each class. He doesn't act to be a "nice, friendly professor", but he is actually a very kind and funny person.

Great professor, easy class, and funny as hell. He knows a lot about politics and history and probably curses more than a convict.

I love this guy. When you first meet him you might think he is the strictest guy ever but below the front he is a sweetheart..and I had a crush on the guy..he's so adorable. He is honestly the smartest professor at Baruch..he knows his stuff with a sense of humor to kill...2 essay take home exams--8 pages each but he is a fair grader..take him!!!

This teacher has learned how to make a class interesting AND slightly easy. The class is flat out a breeze for those who decide to exert minimal effort. He is a very astute professor whose lectures are humorous and interesting. I decided to minor Pol Sci thanks in large part to him. 2 tests(Take home essay), this is an easy A.

I hated political science but fontana made it sooo interesting that I decided to minor in it.he's fair, interesting and really downtoearth. i can't say he's easy but he teaches so passionately that he makes it easy for you. He's ALWAYS there to help... this guy is a genius btw... and he also has a phD but doesn't even tell anybody, really modest

funny character. have to read a lot and write two papers. must follow whats goin on in class but overall wonderful professor... you'll love early political thought after his class. time flies when he lectures.

This professor is extremely knowledgeable and impressive. Indeed, simply brilliant! He makes a potentially dry subject very interesting. He also is very humorous and relates very well to his students, whatever their age or background. He is at the top of my list of professors deserving of a chili pepper.

What a nut case!!! Half the class never showed up and the other half used his class as nap time. everyone i know in that class never read the books and still got B or above. Easy but def. not exciting

He doesn't take attendance, but it doesn't mean that he is easy. To garner an A, you have to actually read his works, and formulate an intelligent thesis of your own. It makes you a better student. If you listen to his lectures, he drops nuanced gems about Political Philosophy. Very elucidating, to say the least.

He is very considerate and helpful and "knows his stuff!"... If students do not like him, they are just not interested in the subject..... I'm glad I took his class! Hes not like most of the professors at baruch who actually look for reasons to fail students! He really wants to help us.....

I can't say enough good things about this guy. He is passionate, incredibly smart & interesting...even if you are not interested in the subject matter. He's has a dry sense of humor but you've got to pay attention. I found him more informative (& more interesting) than the books so I recommend showing up for the lecture. 2 take home exams.

He's smart. If you want to THINK and LEARN, he is a good prof. He does tease, that's true. but it is fair -- and besides, he just want the best from his students. exams okay

If you are interested in a class where your input and work pay off, this is the one to take. If you are engaged, he is engaged. Fontana really knows his subject matter and is really smart and passionate -- especially when he can see that you are interested in what he is saying. You will learn a lot! Exams are take home essays.

the best in my college career (almost four years)

My favorite professor in this school. He is one those professors that elucidate you on a myriad number of concepts and political philosophies. You will have to complete two, four-page essays for your mid-term and final. This class is intellectually demanding, so if you're not compatible with politics or philosophy, you're better off with Singer.

Took him for Modern Political Theory; I must say, this guy is a walking text of knowledge. I recommend taking this is you are interested in politics and the philosophy of it all. If not, you will either not show up or fall asleep. Taking him for 3335 next semester.

The best EVER Professor at Baruch!!! Great lectures Great person. Take home Mid and Final. To get an A you have to work on your papers extensively. It is not an easy A but it is definately achievable. Higly recommended.

I took Professor Fontana's class last semester and found him to be a complete joy. He's extremely smart, which is evident from the moment you meet him. I also found that he really cares about his students and wants you to share the passion he has. He's also got that handsome distinguished professor look, if you're into such things.

He has a lot of sense of humor,sometimes he says funny things in italian and makes u understand that everything what he knows abouth history and politics is "important and crucial" for today's political environment. come on time because he takes attendance every class

Amazing Professor. Really learned a lot in his class and taught in a manner that really had you interested in political science. First political science class I took other than my required class and loved coming to that class each and every time. Has a great sense of humor but be prepared to take a lot of notes.

This man knows his stuff! He cracks jokes and enjoys class participation, but actually makes political science very interesting. His papers are short and simple. He doesn't require much from the student other than avid listening and assistance in reading the text. He'll interpret and you just take notes based off of it.

Great Professor. He quite honestly just keeps it real. Comparing modern day events to old text. He makes a boring subject every interesting.

He is an amazing professor. Two exams (multiple choice)which consist of one final and a mid-term nothing else. they are straight out of the book and the notes. Just cram everything during exam week and chill the rest of the semester. Professor Fontana is also very insightful and conducts amazing lectures witch are very interesting and grasping.

This is an early political theory class, so if you aren't specifically interested, you will be bored. That said, you only have to write two 4 page essays for the midterm, and two 4 page essays for the final. If you can write a semi-coherent essay, the A will be yours.

Professor Fontana is amazing!!! Cant wait to take him next semester!! His class consists of 2 take home exams, if you read the material and pay attention in class you will do great!

He is really a cool professor. He is really smart and knows what to teach during the class. He absent only two times during the semester. He doesn't give any assignments and there are only two exams which are midterm and final. He takes the attendance at the beginning of the semester, then he doesn't check when he thinks everyone is there. Nice!

He is a good professor. Try to take good notes in class. No need to buy a textbook: it's very expensive and I didn't open it once. All you need is in your notes or you can search it on the web. He occasionally takes attendance so its better not to miss classes. Overall it was an interesting and easy class. Highly recommended!

easiest class! the text book actually isn't that expensive. 5 bucks is the cheapest you can get online. he doesn't mandate a edition either, as long as you know the material, youre set. TAKE FONTANA!!

Amazing Professor. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this man. He's extremely knowledgeable. There is minimal participation required, which was fine with me as this professor is funny and smart. One Midterm, One Final, easy breezy.

Great Professor. I'm from another country so I was worried. He taught me so much and now I can take my citizenship test just from his class! All exam questions from the lecture. Used textbook solely for documents like Declaration of Independence. Gave 5 extra questions for midterm and 9 for final which helped me get an A. Smart and interesting.

No need to read your book, he tells everything in the class, even more, he writes everything on the board!! 2 tests, final & midterm... each test have an extra points, finale has 10 extra pts... if you screw-up yr mid-term and take the finale, he will count it more... Professor Fontana is one of the better professors I have come across. His classes were really interesting and you learn a lot from his lectures. He's a very frank person and at times funny. If you get a chance to take his class, I recommend that you take it.

He is a great professor. You don't need to go to class that much. Make sure your in class for the reviews because he read the exam to us then. You should take him for pol1101.

Professor Fontana is a good professor. His class is pretty easy and simple. You show up to class and pay attention. Topics were fairly interesting. He explains things well. Show up to the reviews prior to a test. The reviews help a ton because the questions he uses in these reviews are basically the same questions he gives on the test.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND for POL 1101. He's really interesting and funny. His tests are strictly based on lecture. Reading helps, but isn't necessary. I managed an A without reading, but I did show up to almost every lecture. He recognizes the fact that it can get boring at times, but his sense of humor helps. :)

Professor Fontana sets you up for success. He literally discussed some of the questions on Midterm & Final the day before each test. Even the test questions we didn't discuss were easy. Also, he is so funny and basically every class he lets the class out early, sometimes over 30 minutes early. You must take him!

This Prof had an amazing ability to engage students in his lectures! Grade consists of 1 Mid-Term and 1 Final. Don't be afraid! Lectures are very clear and Prof will do a review session before both mid-term and final. He will ask you questions that will be on exam! Really nice as well and willing to work with students 1-on-1 if needed.

This guy is a very knowledgeable professor. He didn't have to teach Political Science, his textbook could have. Still, fun to listen to, and a positive experience in general.

Really nice and funny dude. Very knowledgeable about what he's talking about and makes the lectures interesting. He also has a review session before each exam which helps you out tremendously. Take this guy's class ASAP if he's available. Definitely one of Baruch's finest.

Mr. Fontana's criteria is simple. Go to class, pay attention, take notes and pass his 2 multiple choice tests (midterm and final). During review he goes over the topics which is very helpful.

Amazing professor- must take! Makes lectures interesting and funny. 2 MC tests each worth 50%. Show up to class, pay attention, take notes and review the notes before each test- guaranteed to do well.

Only tests based: 50% midterm and 50% final. He will pass out the attendance sheet but I don't think it matters. However, you have to take good notes in order to pass the exam since he does not use Blackboard or Powerpoint. His exams are all multiple choices and each has 5 bonus questions. His review lectures are really important,

Professor F's class was the easiest class I have ever taken. Some reading, but in reality,go to his class once and stay once in a while, you will know what you need to pass the class. I didn't care for the class as I didn't need it, but to be my GPA booster. I got a decent grade with no real effort. I signed in, and left most days to do other HW

He's a laid back professor. The class can get a little boring, but I guess that is part of life.

The class can get pretty boring but make sure you show up to his review session. He basically gives out half of the test. I honestly don't know how people get lower than a B. His test are also curved. Would recommend him!

Solid class. Study the key terms in the textbook for each chapter on the midterm and final and make sure to write down and study his review session questions. If you do that and know them well you should get an A no problem. He's old and the lectures are very boring but he lets you out early.

He took his time with each student, he makes sure to give us the right recourse for EVERYTHING! He focuses more on working as a team in lectures than assigning a ton of homework. He knows how to keep up motivated and interested in the subject/s he teachers. A wonderful professor like no other and I recommend him to everyone!

This professor really wants his students to learn and made this class pretty easy. Only three exams, one first exam, a midterm and a final. All three were multiple choice and he gives out extra credit questions to help you make up any points. Gives lectures that helps you for those exams. Respects students as long as you return the respect.

Took Fontana fall 2021 and he was boring. His lectures are boring, but the 2 midterms and 1 final was easy. He gave extra credit on each exam by including extra questions. No homework, no quizzes. He always asked if the class is there when no one participates, and he can get mad.

For POL 1101, there are 2 exams. Both 50% of your grade. Read the textbook summaries and listen in class and its easy. Otherwise, great professor at Baruch. He really cares about the next generation and gives us great life lessons. Would definitely recommend this professor.

Lectures is a bit heavy but the exams are super easy. Does reviews for exams which helps a lot. He is not super strict on attendance, he takes them almost every class but sometimes he forgets. He does not post grades at all so don't stress over that. His exams are on paper & hands them back with grades. If you're a good notetaker, take the class.

Professor Fontana is incredibly knowledgeable about politics. Sessions run long but they are packed with valuable information for future exams. The semester is 3 exams with no homework. Reading the textbook is not mandatory but DEFINITELY helps with the exams. It's an easy A if you study and pay attention in class. Poster below me is sensitive.

Knowledgeable professor. Really passionate about poli sci. I only had to take this class for credit but it was pretty good. Didnt use my textbook basically at all. Before every exam he hosts reviews and they help A TON. so be sure to go to them. Pretty nice and funny guy unless hes in a bad mood lol.

He gives you 'practice' midterm q's before the exams (hint: those actually come up on the exam). I learned nothing but at least I was able to keep my GPA. Be sure to RECORD HIM or take GOOD notes, otherwise the MCQ's will confuse you. 3 exams, each with 10 EC points. Solid man, good homie, talks alot about Trump and the Holocaust...

Fontana's POL1101 is a solid choice. Lectures can be lengthy but packed with insights. Exams are manageable with textbook readings and study tools like Unstuck ai. Overall, an engaging class if you stay engaged.

Very insightful lectures that were really interesting, especially during the 2024 presidential race. No homework and he will do an exam review that is very helpful. If you just want to study that you'll do fine. Plus he gives 10pts extra credit every exam. Recommend reading the chapters, so you can follow the lecture.

Said he might give pop quizzes but we never had any. Only graded on the midterm, final, and participation. He basically gave us the whole test in the review session so definitely pay attention in the class right before a test. I felt bad because the class was pretty disrespectful towards him but I can tell he is passionate about teaching. Be nice!
