Not a good professor at all. Most of his tests did not reflect what the homework, and he made mistakes all the time during class and expected the class to catch the mistakes. Most of the notes are hard to follow and the notes do not help you with the homework. If you can, I would avoid taking this class!!

Never take his class. He is a terrible teacher who doesn't give answer keys for reviews so you have no idea what you are doing is right. Also, he is not very confident in his own answers when you ask him questions and will mark your answer wrong on 'small quizzes' even after helping you get to that answer.

DO NOT TAKE. I had to take this class because it is a prereq and it is the hardest class I have right now. He is not helpful. Lecture isnt easy to follow. He does examples in class that are easy so you think you get it but then puts that hardest stuff on the tests that we never learned how to do. I WOULD RECOMMEND DROPPING IF YOU HAVE HIM. HORRIBLE

Test are way harder than anything we do in class or what the book explains. He gives one example and expects you to know how to do every problem. He hardly ever teaches, then gives group work to have you figure it out on your own. I would strongly recommend NOT TAKING HIM.

I would highly recommend not taking him for pre calc. He likes to over complicate everything and has difficulty answering simple questions. Everything is cumulative. The quizzes are much harder than the examples and the exams are even harder yet. The class googled a question from an exam and Calc 2 problems popped up...

the tutors can't even figure out some of the problems he gives and its a lot of teaching yourself. The problems on the exams are like what we did in class only with something added that he never taught us how to do. He does give partial credit if you draw things out though.

he curves everything but the class average was still a 65. way too hard for pre calc in my opinion. if I had previously enjoyed math this class would have changed my mind. he doesn't explain things well and can't answer simple questions-he always complicates things. exams are way harder than the exams and quizzes

Can't read writing on the board, uses pronouns so easy to get lost. Assigns around 40 problems a night with pop quizzes and homework checks, test are 10x harder than the quizzes. Really have to go to office hours to get any kind of help, even then good luck getting one on one help because his office is packed.

I feel like he assumes that his students already knew the material we were learning. I've never taken a calc class and the way he taught was never clear. He'd write what we were supposed to do in confusing sentences on the board then do an example without explaining a single thing . Then when he's finished he said that we should know how to do it.

He will give examples on the board and problems in the book which are manageable but on tests and quizzes the questions are MUCH more difficult. Quizzes every Thursday, sometimes two a week. He assumes you know whats going on already and doesnt really answer questions when asked. As a good math student, I am struggling to say the least.

Benjamin was by far the worst professor I have ever had. I had friends in pre-calc who did way different things than my class and didn't cover nearly as much material. I spent tons of my time in his office hours trying to get help, but the tests were still impossible. There is at least one quiz a week sometimes two or three. Don't take his class.

This is the hardest class I have ever taken. I have always been super good at math but this class makes zero sense. He explains everything with the easiest examples and then gives us quizzes and tests with the hardest examples possible. Quizzes are like twice a week and I'm so used to failing them that I no longer try.

He writes really small on the board and it is very hard to read, even if you are sitting in the first few rows. There is a quiz once a week for sure and he says to expect possibly two at times. He just writes long sentences on the board and shows a few examples but doesn't explain them at all and then expects us to know it. DO NOT recommend at all.

Didn't tell the class he would be gone for two weeks. Eventually had us take a bunch of group quizzes because he said that all of us had failing grades. Makes you feel stupid when asking him for help on a problem. Problems on the exam are 100x harder than what was practiced in class and homework.

He gives easy problems that you understand on the board and the quizzes and tests are the hardest examples possible. The tutors couldn't even solve one of the problems given to us and its supposed to be a basic algebra class. He isn't very nice and doesn't seem to care that almost every single person is failing the tests. DO NOT CHOOSE HIM FOR MATH

All grades are based off tests and quizzes. You will be tested on things you were not taught and passing is next to impossible. Class average was well below a C, most of class was failing or barely holding on to a D all semester. He makes this class much more difficult and time consuming than necessary. Worst. Professor.

Dont take him if you want to get a good grade. Spent 3 hours on one math problem on a take home quiz so we went to the tutors and they didnt know how to do it.

Thought he was writing fw instead of f(x) for the first month, his handwriting is hard to read. He goes from one point to the next w/o fully explaining. The quizzes weren't usually same as in class, often being the worst problems. Tried to get help and was told 'oh that's right' with no idea how. Said go to tutors and then told tutors did it wrong.

Had to withdraw from his class after a month because I couldnt take it anymore. His lectures and practice problems were nothing like what he put on quizzes or exams. He expects you to already know the material and he treats lectures as review. The average class quiz grade was a C or D for EVERY quiz. You will not get an A with this professor.

Terrible professor. He puts questions on the quizzes and exams that no one has seen before in the class. Spent countless hours in the tutors because I needed someone who could actually explain the math. On every homework assignment there would always be a question even the tutors couldn't figure out. Dr. Anderson is very intelligent and knows the subject well, but cannot teach it. Lectures and completes problems on the board without explaining anything. With a different professor, my grade and feeling towards this class may be different. Dr. Anderson lectures almost the entire hour, with maybe 5-10 minutes left to "practice". What is lectured is different than quiz and test material, and will leave you clueless. I've been in office hours so much, but I'm still lost and frustrated. He's careless.

I took 151 with Anderson and it was the worst class I've ever had. There are quizzes every week and three exams taken throughout the semester. Both are extrememly difficult and contain material that was never taught. Thankfully he does curve the exams because the class average is always very low. This class requires lots of work so be careful.

He was pretty much the worst professor I have ever had. He gave quizzes every week. Each quiz and test had problems way harder than anything he went over in class, assigned for homework, or questions in the textbook making it impossible to prepare. I witness and was victim to him yelling at girls for not understanding (very aggressive and scary).

This man basically ruined my first semester of college. He was mean and unhelpful. His weekly quizzes contained content I had never seen before. I was scared to go to his office hours (not that they were helpful anyway) because he would make me feel stupid for not understanding. His lectures were a waste of time because he is so bad at teaching.

He makes you feel dumb for not understanding and makes jokes to try to "better" the situation. He's lectures are very scattered. They seem like he put no effort in to pre plan them.

I didn't listen to these comments and rating and I think I will forever regret it... His questions are extremely vague but he expects you to know exactly what he is asking for. Instead of drawing pictures on tests, he expects you to know how the picture is supposed to look by reading his description. RUN FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS CLASS!!!

Worst professor I have ever had. Even with attending every lecture, I still had no idea what was going on, and I like to think I'm not terrible with the subject. He isnt a bad guy and being in class isnt that bad during my experience. With that being said, he lacks basic social skills and struggles to communicate effectively to students. He makes tests very confusing and over complicates the general material being taught in class. Do NOT take him if you can.

Tests are overcomplicated. Instead of feeling like I am using what I have learned from the lectures, I feel as if he tries to trick us on each question. Currently in the middle of a test right now and am furious that I signed up for his class. just because you know a subject doesn't mean you can teach it.

I was a decent math student in high school, and went into this class confident that I could put in the required work to get a B and move on. This is by far the hardest course I have ever taken. He is a very smart professor, and this leads him to overcomplicate material. The assignments, quizzes, and exams include material that was never covered, and the material he does cover are the simplest examples.

In my opinion, he is very boring and his lectures are hard to follow. When in class, he will give you practice problems to work on, and he will walk around the room and see your work, and he will call you out as he walks past and others can hear. I was blindsided by most problems on quizzes and tests because they weren't like any examples we had gone over. Our class averages were well below an F on most of the assessments. He is an extremely slow grader and his lectures are very hard to follow. If math isn't your strong suit I wouldn't recommend Professor Anderson. Praying I somehow pass.

I would never recommend this class to anyone. Unless math is one of your strong suits the lectures are very hard to follow and his explanations are awful. The tests and quizzes are extremely hard and nothing like what is learned in class. I wish I would've dropped this class or changed professors.

Failed to properly explain material. Weekly quizzes often had material that was not taught and he oftentimes took things a step further without showing us how to reach those steps. Lectures were poor and in class he would go around the room and criticize your work. Would not give out answers to practice problems he gave us to do in class.

ADVIOD ANDERSON. I don't know how he still teaches here at UWL. Everyone I know who had Anderson either failed or dropped the class. Save yourself a "W" and don't even give him a chance. Awful professor! 1-2 pop quizzes a week with content that is irrelevant to anything we are taught and it isn't like the homework at all. He cares much more about the layout of your work than getting the right answer. Very condescending and if you ask for help he will just tell you you're doing it wrong. Have never struggled in a math class before!

The quizzes don't align with anything you learn in class, IF you learn in class. Prof. Anderson puts a problem on the board, solves it, and expects everyone to know exactly how he solved it. Very impatient with students and doesn't understand that he is doing wrong by his students when everyone is receiving F's. Do not take this class through him.

You will have a quiz every week and you don't know when it is, so basically a pop quiz a week. Most of the quiz questions are ridiculously challenging and are nothing like the ones done in class, same with the 3 exams. He expects you to rememberer a lot from high school coming into the class. You show up to class, you go to the tutor lab for more help, you ask questions, and yet, you still cannot get higher than a 40% on quizzes, and you bomb the exams and final. Some may make the argument that its just me, and my math skills, but when a large majority of the class is also failing, you better call up Houston, because we have a problem.

Professor Anderson conveys fun attitude in class. However, I found it difficult to pass a single quiz (weekly quizzes btw). Tutors and your textbook are a necessity as tests are more complex than what he will cover. If you miss a day, you'll probably be lost for a week. Talked to my advisor and she gets people complaining about him once a week. IF you understand in class and homework great, if you don't he doesn't care. My semester class averages were 50% and he simply didn't care.

I took 2 algebra classes in hs and got an A in both so I wasnt concerned about college algebra, even though Prof. Anderson had terrible ratings. I'm barely passing right now and he is by far THE WORST teacher I've ever had. He doesnt explain anything and doesnt say when we have quizzes and doesnt prepare us at all. So horrible- I regret taking him.

By mid semester a lot of students had dropped his class or didn't bother to show up. Attendance is not mandatory, but unless you have extensive Calc knowledge, I would recommend not skipping class. This class was very difficult and you end up teaching a lot of the material to yourself. Average test scores were always around 60%.

This was a class I was taking after taking AP Calc and he made it so difficult. There were multiple pop quizzes and his way of teaching the material is to just write problems on the board. He is almost always in his office but when I went he made me feel like an idiot for the questions I asked.

I took him freshman year first semester for mth151 and honestly don't remember a single thing he talked about in lecture. He constantly went on about the proofs behind concepts and tests were impossible.

Had a friend in Calc310 (Calc3) help me and even he struggled understanding / explaining what some questions wanted him to do. I took his calc 1 class, and here's the summary. His "smart class" had an average grade of 63% before the final exam (with the highest grade being 84%). Most people couldn't finish the homework on time because it was too complicated. The average quiz and exam grade in class was 55-59%.I studied 4-8 hours daily (including office hours) just for a C.

He is very difficult to understand if you don't have a lot of prior knowledge and your grade is very reliant on the exams. The tutoring center doesn't understand his math and the only way to reach him is during office hours, which is often very crowded. Would recommend anyone other than him.

Please save your money and drop when you can if your already failing it won't get better. Averages are SO low. He doesn't care how his students are doing and he will fail you. Avg as low as 40ish% on exams. Atleast 1 quiz per week with avg under 50%. Be ready to learn criteria and be quized on it in the same 50 minute class period.

Studies 8+ hours a week just to get a D and have to retake the class because I need calc 2 for my major. This guy should not teach. From my knowledge he failed at least 10 people this semester, THAT I KNOW OF, out of his 50/60 students. Quizes are impossible to get full points. Questions nothing like we studied. Asking questions feels like walking into a trap rather than getting help. He is not afraid to make you feel like an absolute idiot if you ask him for help. Quizzes/exams are absolutely brutal, includes topics that weren't in lecture. It's almost like he's trying to outsmart the class instead of teach it. Feels like I am in a SAW movie in his class.

Biggest waste of time in my entire life. The exams and quizzes are impossible and the class average for each has been failing all semester. Homework takes about 10-15 hours each time, not even counting studying for quizzes and exams. You are pretty much expected to become an engineer with 5 years of experience. This is the first time I have sat down in a math class and not understand what is going on. When I tell you AP calc was easier to understand than this class... The teacher moves way to fast and does not explain anything. His office hours help a little at best. The test are harder than the material he teaches in class and homework is 6 hours minimum

If you get Anderson, switch immediately. Tests are impossible, too many word problems that make absolutely no sense. Lectures move way too fast; you are going to mostly have to teach yourself if you want to understand. Nice person, but not great teacher

Professor Anderson is the worst professor I've had. I love math and excel in it, but he makes sure you don't.
