Way too much reading from the book and don't expect an easy A.
He's a cutie pie. Not as easy of a class as everyone says but not as hard as a math or science. Gives extra credit for showing up to class. Loves what he does and you can tell. The lectures don't really match up with the modules though so you'll probably have to read but it's easy to get answers off of friends.
He is super passionate about what he does and tries to make the lectures fun. The lectures don't really go with the quizzes, test, or modules but you get extra credit for going to class. All the work is done online and you need the text book! Overall, this class isn't bad. Kind of boring but an easy A.
It's fun to go to the lectures because he get's so into the music, which for the most part is classical. He goes over what's in the online book in class so you don't really have to read. All the modules, quizzes, and tests are online as well.
Attendance is not mandatory at all, you don't even use the notes. All tests are online and open book so theres no studying needed really, its just an annoying and boring course
Ben was amazing, he is very passionate about his course. I am tone deaf and was able to do well. All you have to do is listen and google. He gives extra credit so take advantage and go to class.
As a musician, I dreaded taking this class because I felt as if everything I was going to learn in a music appreciation class, I would already know. Prof. Crofut made class so great and enjoyable just by seeing the amount of passion he has for music. I thought he was very successful in his teaching and had no trouble coming out of the class w/ an A
Mr. Crofut is literally the best. He is the cutest, sweetest man, and he is so passionate about music- you can tell he really loves what he does! Also a super easy class, all of the assignments are online and he gives bonus points occasionally just for showing up to class. I got an A+ easily- highly recommend him!!
I would recommend taking MUS 121, but with a different professor. I attended every class and feel like I would have received the same grade if I had not gone to any.
Got a D in this class just because the dude is a try-hard new teacher who doesn't realize most people are taking Music for an easy A ans not because we're dying to listen to classical music that we can't tell the difference between and take quizzes on this music... That we can't tell the difference between. Don't take him if you want an easy A.
Crofut is awesome, he is so passionate about music and really wants for you to be too. I took the class for an easy A but I actually learned a few things. Its a hybrid class so a good bit of HW each week online but you can use the book/google on all of it. Going to class isn't really needed but he gives out a lot of extra credit just for showing up
He is young, as very cute, and really passionate about music. He is kinda quirky so lectures are fun/funny. He assigns homework for connect after almost every lecture, but it's not hard, it just takes a while. Overall the class wasn't bad at all.
I thought this class was wonderful. It was super easy, but going to lectures was fun because of Mr. Crofut's passion for music. His homework wasn't very hard at all, and he never took attendance. I'd consider it an easy A, as long as you keep up with homework deadlines.
It wasn't a hard class, but it was harder than it should have been. He assigns a lot of homework that you need to google every answer for even if you go to class and read the textbook. It wastes a lot of time.
This class is essentially online, so you're able to use the textbook and internet to help you out. It's a little confusing because he talks about stuff as if you already know the material. You have to do concert reports, online and live... be thorough or else you won't get a good grade. A little on the rude side when it comes to missing class. avg.
MUS121 is a hybrid, so there's one lecture a week and the rest is online. Which means that there is online homework every week, though it isn't too bad. Prof has a serious love for music and sometimes lectures got confusing because I didn't know what he was talking about. He's an okay professor.
Almost all assignments are online, quizzes are online, not timed, and you can google everything for the most part. Modules are essentially click until you get it right. Class is not mandatory, but he sometimes gives extra credit.
Mr. Crofut was a good teacher. He moved quickly through the material but the class I took was hybrid. He is very passionate about music and strives to help his students appreciate music as well. The class has weekly homework, quizzes, or tests and attendance was not mandatory. I enjoyed his class and he was helpful when needed.
Mr. Crofut was a good teacher. He moved quickly through the material but the class I took was hybrid so it had to be. He is very passionate about music and strives to help his students appreciate music as well. The class has weekly homework, quizzes, or tests and attendance was not mandatory. I enjoyed his class and he was helpful when needed.
This class is very easy. You don't need to go to class but if you do there will be TONS of extra credit. Very easy FA credit. Mr. Crofut is also very helpful.
While I did find this class to be easy, the tests and modules sometimes took a decent amount of time and were slightly confusing. Mr. Crofut is obviously very passionate about his work and his desire to teach, so I didn't mind too much. And easy A if you do all assignments/attend class occasionally.
Easy class, everything is online. Crofut is terrible to get in contact with which sucks but class isn't bad at all
If you want to take an easy music class... don't take his. Horrible and really hard grader.
He is a total jerk. He is bad at responding to emails and won't put in grades in on blackboard. His lectures are very long and he talks very quickly. When he does put grades up they are very harshly graded. If you want to take an easy music class don't take it with him--worst mistake I've made.
You really don't have to go to class honestly but if you decide to go pay attention a little so when you complete the weekly assignment it'll be easier for you. This class is so easy that it is literally hard to fail. Not joking at all.
Crofut is a nice guy. Class isn't mandatory but he gives extra credit and explains things better than the textbook. Most of the class is online and there are weekly modules or quizzes which make up most of your grade. There's an online concert report and a live concert one but the grading criteria is clear. Overall, the class is an easy A
Not a easy class compares to other Music 121 classes. Required too many details, which is good. But it's much harder when you find out you are taking the most difficult MUS 121 class. Yes it's an introduction class, but get ready to go through the textbook overtimes before start your quiz.
Don't take Crofut if you want an easy A. Take Williams instead. I took Crofut because people told me he was an easy A+. He changed the homework program to where you're no longer basically given a 100% like you were last year. He's telling my class that the final will take up to 6 hours... not worth it for a fine arts credit class. TAKE WILLIAMS!!!
Super easy. I dont think he even read my concert reports. You dont need to go to class. Spend about an hour a week on homework. Anyone who says this was hard literally did nothing because its the easiest class I have ever taken.
All quizzes and homework were done online. I went to this class maybe 3 times the whole semester. You do have to write two concert report papers but he gives you multiple chances for extra credit.
Super cute, gives one assignment a week which are on quizlet. gives extra credit. have to go to one live concert a semester
Easy A+ the class is only out of 100 points and he gives up to 15 points Extra Credit... which is an extra 15% added to your overall grade in the class. Attendance is not mandatory because the weekly quizzes are online and you can look them up online. Also, the final is online and not in person. Super easy fine arts class!!
Easy A+ seriously take him. I showed up to the very first class and didn't go to any after that. Weekly assignments don't take long, and questions can be found on quizlet. Final is online too. No attendance grade. The only thing is you have to do 2 concert reports, but they're not hard, just put in some effort.
There's no attendance taken, I only went to class about twice the whole semester. There's one quiz that's online a week and two concert reports you have to do that are easy grades. All of the quizzes have the answers online, and the final was an online test that you could use "resources" for. Easy grade if you do the assignments!!
I never went to class and got an A+. By far the easiest MUS121 class to complete. All of the quizzes and assignments are online and the answers are straight off of quizlet. There are also 3 extra credit opportunities which add up to 15% on your overall grade in the class. There is no reason not to get an A+
So dang easy if you set aside an hour a week for online quiz homework. Would take again if I had to because I ended up with a 104%. Just put in effort with concert reports and do all extra credit.
Made a basic intro class that all it takes is slight effort to pass into a very interesting class, but one gets out of the class what they put into it. Any level of effort will get an A with extra credit and all the tests and homework being online.
Only grades are online homework that can be answered through google, 2 500 word essays, and a final. Final is also online and open book. Easiest class I've taken. Crofut is a great lecturer who makes the course material entertaining even though it would otherwise be boring. If you need an FA credit, then this is the best option for you.
Relatively easy class at UA. Non mandatory attendance, but class will be much easier if you attend. All online based coursework. Concert analysis.
Easy class, great teacher. If you go to class he gives you the answers to the weekly assignments, if you don't they are not hard to find. You are required to go to 2 concerts but its not difficult, the assignment takes maybe 15 afterwards and he just wants to know you tried.
If you go to class, he will make sure you pass. We had at least 4 extra credit opportunities only announced in lecture. He lectures and then you have a week to complete an easy quiz based on his lectures and a short reading. Lectures are usually somewhat entertaining and he is a funny guy. Very easy A if you go to class.
I hardly went to class and am still getting a high A. Weekly online assignments that take about 10 minutes and you don't have to go to lecture to find the answers. Two concerts throughout the semester. If your goal is to learn, this isn't the class for you but if you just need that fine arts credit, it's a good one.
Dr. Crofut is one of the best lecturers I have ever had. While his class is not mandatory, his lectures are honestly worth going to. He does plenty of extra credit, and while some of the weekly assignments are hard, going to class and using the online textbook can really help!
Mr. Crofut is a very good professor. He has clear expectations and the class is an easy A. You only have to go to two music concerts outside of class (which are pretty boring - not gonna lie), but there really isn't a need to go to class. Overall I am very happy I took this class.
Crofut is a great teacher. His class is super easy, all of the test questions come from the book, that you have access to during the tests. His lectures are really funny, but if you don't attend class you will be fine.
Friendly and Kind
He is a very simple teacher just turn your assignments in on time and you should be fine.
amazing teacher, easy class and test are online
Crofut is an easy professor and the best choice for MUS121. I went to class once and have an A in the class. You can find all of the homework answers online and he never puts questions from class on the homework. Easy A
Literally it is all online its once a week quizzes and two papers. The quizzes you can copy and paste and all the answers are on a quizlet. He's funny and real, its a cool easy class. You don't need to show up but sometimes I do just for fun.
Attendance wasn't mandatory & many times there were only 20 kids in a 150 kid class. All of the answers to assignments and tests were on quizlet and you had to report on 2 concerts, one online and one in person. Super funny and deep NY accent but cool guy.
At the beginning he will make it seem like you have to go to class, you don't at all. The weekly quizzes are online and the answers are on Quizlet. If you do go to class you get extra credit. Just make sure for the paper you use music language which can be found in the online book, which is on the website you take the quizzes on.
We never had any tests but just quick assignments due online before class that take a few minutes if you use his notes. The entire lecture he shows slides of notes and goes into detail. He seems like a caring teacher but the paper assignments weren't the best.
He's a really sweet guy and just wants you to pass his class. I got a 100 in the class and only showed up the first week. All of his assignments can be found on quizlet and he gives a practice final that has the answers for the test if you do it. He's also really funny. Sometimes I go to lectures just for fun. Very easy, if you can take him, DO.
Easiest class Ive ever taken. I went to class twice and got a 100 in the class. All exams are online with answers on quizlet, super super super easy A.
This is a very easy class. All of the answers to the assignments are available on Quizlet. There are two papers, but they are straightforward. You will have to attend one music concert at Moody Music and that's it.
Professor Crofut is easily one of the best professors I've taken. He offers many extra credit opportunities and loosely grades all the papers required. You can show up if you really want to, but it really does not matter because either way, you could still achieve an A. I highly recommend taking him for MUS121.
Go to class so you can get your points for random in-class assignments. Easiest class I have ever taken at UA!
MUS121 is notoriously easy and Crofut is a good choice for it. Read the syllabus and don't forget to do your assignments and an A+ is easy. The expectation is that you put in a level of effort just above the minimum.
Professor Crofut was amazing! His lectures were pretty entertaining even if you are not interested in music. There are random attendance checks but he drops a few of them. There are 2 papers all semester and they are graded really generously. Remember to do the online assignments and the class is an easy A+.
I have no idea why is rating is on the lower side. This dude is the GOAT. He is soooo passionate about music and his class is a GPA booster. There's online quizzes and two papers. Really easy and a fun class to show up to. Would 1005 recommend him.
Super easy class and he really cares about his students learning! just turn in assignments on time and you will do fine
I did not particularly like taking this professor because he did not make the grading criteria understood at the beginning of this course. He isn't the worst prof. ever and if I HAD to take him again I wouldn't be too upset, but he is not my favorite. He also is slightly boring to listen to and does not seem to care about his students genuinely.
Dr. Crofut is clearly passionate about music and that shows in his lectures. The assignments are very easy, but because of that he is pretty strict on deadlines. This class is an easy A, but if you have any questions for him, you better email ahead because it takes a while for him to get back to you.
Only had to write two papers and for one I got to watch Hamilton. Very easy A
Easiest A EVER!!! take it and enjoy your gpa booster
This class only consists of (almost) weekly discussion posts and quizzes, 2 short papers, and a final exam. Easy class to make an A+. Lectures are interesting to listen to but not demanding.
He is very clear and concise with what he expects from his students. The tests are easy if you watch the lectures. Super easy class if you need the credit.
Such a good choice if you need an easy Fine Arts credit. Lectures are interesting because you get to listen to different types of music. Tests and quizzes are easy. Only two papers. 10/10 recommend.
MUS 121 is widely known as one of the easiest classes at UA, so take this with a grain of salt. Crofut is definitely a weird guy, but he sent regular updates on Blackboard that layed out exactly what was expected of you.
I enjoyed Professor Crofut's class! It was all online and the material was easy to access. The lectures covered everything on the quizzes and the final exam, and often included more information on the culture during the time period of music that's being discussed. I learned about a lot more than music, which enhanced the class a lot!
Crofut was really clear on what needed to be done and the deadlines for the assignments and made sure to remind us when they were coming up which was nice. The lecture videos were only available for one day, but if you missed it you can just use the textbook to find most of the information you need. Overall a really straightforward class.
If you go to class after syllabus day you're wasting your time. As long as you do the homework each week and write the paper you are guaranteed an A. Easiest class I have taken.
Literally everything was on quilt except the two essays for the semester, so easy and he's really nice and reachable if you ever have any questions. Definitely take this class If you need a fine art, its an Easy A
He gives tests at the end of the week but they're all pretty easy. He's super chill and understanding about stuff. Just make sure you go to class because there are some in class assignments that you probably won't get to make up once you've missed that day. He's super passionate about the class and really knows his stuff and wants you to learn.
He's kinda weird, but I don't remember too much about him because MUS 121 is probably the easiest class I've ever taken. Just show up and pass, let him drive the train.
This class is pretty easy if you attend class, take notes, and scan over the online textbook. There are weekly quizzes, but they aren't hard. He sometimes does in-class assignments (usually Friday) which will be graded, so try to attend class.
an absolute gem of a human being. He is so so passionate about his job and his enthusiasm shines through in his teaching. Whether you are interested in music or not, this class is sure to hold your attention. Ben is super nice and even let us watch Fergies national anthem rendition one time when I asked. TAKE THIS CLASS if you can! Bestie
Professor Crofut is a real gem among professors. He made the learning experience fun and informative. The class is very easy to pass and he makes it very interesting. He's got a quirky personality and is extremely friendly as well as easy to access. Take this class if you need a FA honors credit. You wont regret it.
quizzes are easy, i would recommend taking notes in class. you have to go to three concerts if you're in the honors section which is slightly annoying because regular students only go to one, but other than that this was a pretty chill class
MUS 122 is basically a free honors/humanities credit, and Crofut knows this. He doesn't try to make this class more difficult than it should be. The quizzes are easy if you take notes and the concert reports are easy as well. If you are at all interested in music or were in band, enjoy your free A+.
Knows that the people in the class want to take a blow-off honors class. Also knows that most of us are not musicians. Very accessible outside of class, very funny, very laid back and understanding. Couldn't recommend this class enough.
His class is generally not that interesting but he makes it SO easy to get an A+. Everything is online and open-book. I personally never took notes during lectures and still did well, but if you do pay attention he is quite funny to listen to. The only downside is having to attend 3 concerts and report on them throughout the semester.
A real stand up guy. Very good lectures and easy to follow content. Does his best to make things interesting and understandable to people like me who have no idea about music terminology. Very passionate about what he teaches, which made the lectures entertaining. Having to go to concerts was a good experience that I might not have done otherwise.
Professor Crofut is such an easy professor. I took MUS 122 for an honors/fine arts credit. Everything is open note/open book and if you need help outside of class, he is so easy to reach. He's honestly a pretty cool guy too, would definitely take him again. Truly an easy A class
Dr. Crofut was nice enough and was clear about his expectations. Most assignments are given from the beginning so you can work on them throughout the semseter. Does not wait for you to get all the notes down before moving on so type fast! Everything you do is open note so they will be useful. Gives you plenty of time to complete online tests.
Having taken this class simply as an easy FA credit, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Dr. Crofut's lectures and the material in this course. Dr. Crofut's passion for music and history comes through in his lectures and made me genuinely excited for the next class. Only downside is walk to Moody. Easiest class you'll ever take.
Professor Crofut is very nice and is funny too. His lectures were pretty interesting and easy to sit through. Class only met maybe 60% of the time (nothing after Thanksgiving). He does require 3 concert reports instead of just 1 but they are not very difficult. Everything is open note, even the final, which had an in-person and an online portion.
Awesome guy. Class met maybe 60% of the time and the online assignments were super easy. Everything is open note, open book, open whatever you want. Super passionate about what he does and is more than aware that mostly everyone in there is not a music major. Super chill dude and genuinely made the class enjoyable.
