Mr. Etgen is a good teacher who is willing to help any student in his class that asks for it. My only complaint is that his tests can be a little on the long side, but he does let you use a 3X5 card to help with the formulas.

One of the best math teachers. He is really helpful. I started out bad in the class, then went to his office hours and got a B in the class. He gives great pretests to prepare for the exam. keep up with the hw because it adds up.

Any professor that can make a Friday night math class fun is great as far as I'm concerned. I actually find myself looking forward to class on Friday nights.

Benjamin is a great teacher. He is very exited when he comes to class. He is also willing to work with the students to make their learning expierience as good as it can be. If you have ans oppurtunity to have a class taught by him take it.

Mr. Etgen is the best math teacher I've ever had over a lifetime. I couldn't do anything until he helped me. This guy is original, fun, interesting and an excellent teacher. He will work hard for you to help you pass your class even if you aren't in his math class.

Benjamin makes Algebra fun. He reminds me of the guy on "Blues Clues". He goes to great lengths to help you pass his class. Good sense of humor. Always helpful. I would definitely take his class again if I had too.

Calc 2 sucked, but Etgen kept us going through it. He makes class fun, and is easy to work with. He will help his students in many ways, allows note cards on exams, and will provide notes from lecture. He's easy to get in contact with as well. This guy loves his job and I highly recommend him.

Etgen is funny, helpful, and very good at what he does. I'd highly sugest taking his class. He's patient if you have a problem, and will try explaining it in more than one way if nessecary, which not a lot of teachers will do.

DON'T LET APPEARANCES FOOL YOU! I took this guy for Geometry and he comes across as a very "republican" type of guy, but he is by far one of the best and funniest mathematics instructors I have ever run across! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BEN!

He loves his subject and he shows it. If you want to get a good grade he will help you succeed. I highly recommend him if you like learning and not being confused. The person who said he isn't challenging obviously was in the wrong class to begin with. He loves challenge and will give you extra credit for trying new challenging things.

The best of the best. Dr. Etgen loves this subject and his enthusiasm for it is infectious. He has a unique way of presenting concepts in class that is much fresher and interactive than textbook drudge work. Patient and fair, even with slower students. Difficult tests, but plenty of extra credit if you work for it. Plus, he's so totally cute.

Professor Etgen's teaching method is designed to give a general understanding of geometry. After finishing up this class, you will feel like any other math class is boring. Math 110 was interesting and enlightening. If you need to take this class, I would sugest this teacher. [note] Not much emphasis on homework. Grade is weighed on quiz's & tests.

Ben is a good teacher if you like or dislike math. He is clear, and a fair marker. You are allowed notes to the exams and he doesn't burden you with info that is not required. I think he understands that many who take this class want to do the absolute minimum number of math classes! Nonetheless, you have to work to do well.

Excellent teacher...very helpful, he took his office hour and turned it into a study session. He doesn't always answer your question in the way you want, but he is very elaborate, and he helps you understand EVERYTHING!!! If you do all of your homework he allows you to have a full page front and back of information, for your tests!!! Way recommend

EXCELLENT!! He makes it so easy to understand math! He walks around during tests and points out mistakes to you so that you can correct it and get a better grade. You can tell he loves his job and it really comes out in his teaching. I wish he taught 120!

He was very clear and enthusiastic about geometry. Even when the class flusters him he's cool. He made understanding easy. He structured his class around class participation, so the more you are actively learning the faster class goes. He takes student input very seriously so if a section or topic isn't clear he'll stop to make sure it is.

I hate math, but he make's so fun that I enjoyed every minute of his class he is the best math instroctor at "ARC"............ I f you really want to learn take one of his class.

Uses MML, but goes over everything in class with a ton of wrksheets (incl. pre-midterms) that are pretty useful. Extremely accommodating, from responding to emails to altering the schedule and giving extensions so everyone is caught up. Does all of this while making math, of all things, enjoyable. If available, enroll in his class.

If you really want to learn math you must take his class. After you done you won't have to retake math ever again. Very helpful, kind, strong sense of humor, and a special teaching method. Do your homework if you want to get an A in his class.

Great teacher, does all work on the board, explains as he goes, willing to stop & explain further if needed. All HW & exams done on MathLab, almost daily in class quizzes, 3 midterms/1 final reviews very close to tests, allows notes on tests. Kinda funny, obvious he LOVES math & wants to make class fun! Ben is a fun professor. Lectures are entertaining. Take notes and study and you shouldn't have a problem and this is coming from someone who is terrible in math. 4 exams and 1 final, with 1 exam dropped. Study previous exams and final will be a breeze. All quizzes are group quizzes. Won't call on you unless you raise your hand.

Etgen gives you every opportunity to pass. Pays out of pocket for online math help site. Grades more than fairly. Extra credit galore. Even for attending tutoring. Looking forward to taking him for calculus.

Ben is a really good Prof. Makes things simple and strait forward, really willing to help his students and kept calc II interesting, asked a lot of interesting questions that weren't exactly core material but related math to real life. His lecture was clear, but he did skip a few tidbits that would have been useful to know for DE and calc III.

This is the best math professor I have ever had by far. Math lectures are very boring in general, but his are a bit more entertaining. Everyone in our class loves the professor. If you get the chance to take his class, take it. DO NOT PUT OFF THE HOMEWORK. It is all online and there is a TON of it. If you do it all, most likely you will pass.

He moves at a quick pace will slow down for questions. He is very quirky and hilarious without trying to be. All homework is online. More than happy to help you during office hours. 5 exams with study guide. Allows an entire page for notes if you have 80% on the homework. Buy the work book. We never used the text, movie is on Netflix don't buy it.

I took Professor Etgen for both Math 100/120 & he is one of the best professors I have had. He is just all around a good guy; his laugh is contagious, he's silly, eco friendly, and he'll make you wish he was your friend outside of school. OK-now I sound obsessed. Energetic and fun, Ben knows how to communicate in a way that doesn't overwhelm students. He knows how to bring his math teaching methods down to the level of anyone having trouble so that his answers don't go over your head. He is eccentric and enthusiastic and does not lose these qualities even when faced with a bored or tired class.

Professor Etgen is an awesome teacher. I'm actually going to take his Geometry class as well. He's a very approachable guy who likes a good laugh. He's very passionate about his job and getting the students to understand where mathematical ideas originated. He is great with allowing people to make up exams, and gives plenty of extra credit.

Truly one of the greatest teachers, I hated math and had such a hard time with it but it became so easy with him. There is a lot of homework(somewhat optional) but if you do 90% of it you can used a notecard on the 3 exams and final. Group activity once/twice during class, easy points. You do have to watch a math documentary that will be on test

I took his hybrid class in the evening, and by the end of the long day I was tried, but he made his class engaging and his lectures fun, I started looking forward to his class! For Math 100 or 120, this is the man! HE CAN TEACH THE MATERIAL! Prepared, organized, logical and cares about you. Quizzes are like Labs - you work in groups and can ask questions - brilliant! He is reasonable with deadlines and fair. A top-tier college professor with a sense of humor. Excellent, highly recommended. (Do your homework!)

Very good at applying math to real life scenarios, which I think makes the math easier to learn. Wants you to pass. Uses MyOpenMath for all HW, plenty extra credit, lets midterms/final be open note if you have a 90% on MyOpenMath. If youre not good at math/it doesnt make sense to you hes your teacher. Accessible via email outside of class.

Benjamin is an exceptional college teacher, I have taken him for 110 and 120 this semester. His lectures and math problem demonstrations are clear and precise, he truly wants you to be able to understand the concept and logics of the problem. I do not believe that I would have passed this class without Professor Etegen. He wants you to succeed but you have to put in the hard work and do lots of homework. He is extremely fair, very funny, and he cares about his students.

An amazing professor, makes learning fun, lets you bring in notes during tests depending on how much homework you've finished, and if you don't understand the material, he will try other ways to help you understand. He also has mathematical documentary videos that you can watch and it will count as credit in the class. He wrote his own math book!

Math 120 was very challenging but it was well worth it. Professor Benjamin did a great job at explaining and also giving everyone individual attention when needed.

This is the coolest professor Ive ever had. He is so good at explaining math. If you are the type of person that doesnt like math hes the best teacher that will make high level math seem so simple. Also, you will never go into a exam without indication of what its going to be like. He prepares you well before each exam.

Professor Etgen is a great teacher and a great person. He is always willing to stop and teach something not understood, and will never leave you behind. There is a lot of homework, but it is structured perfectly with the workbook and is really helpful if you end up doing it.

This guy is great. He is hilarious and cares for the students success. A good amount of HW due weekly online, but very reasonable. Textbook is super affordable and tests and quizs actually reflect what you've been working on. 10/10 would take again.

Professor Etgen is great. He is by far my favorite professor at ARC. Students expected him to approach them when they didnt do well on the exams when they should have been the ones to approach him. He cares if you care. Halfway through the semester COVID happened and the transition to online was not easy. He made it work, but i also worked hard.

Prof Etgen seemed intimidating at first, especially on the first day when he said we would have 21 tests. They are really short quizzes tho, super easy if you do the homework and pay attention in class. He's a cool dude, definitely knows his stuff Offers lots of extra credit if you need it. Make sure you are comfortable using your graphing calc tho

Prof Etgen is just an overall very caring, understanding, and helpful person and that clearly shows while he is teaching. He thoroughly explains what he expects and is always willing to further clarify. He continually tries to demonstrate concepts in a variety of ways and always has your best interests at heart. He truly wants you to succeed.

In Beginning of my semester i was also here reading reviews and i was thinking should i take this class or not but then i decided that i will take the class and i am very happy to say that i choose the right class. he is a very nice and caring reacher he cares if you care and also gives extra credit and remember he will make you work for your grade

He is the best teacher on campus. i can say that suck in math but still i got an A. He is not an easy teacher and he gives a lot of homework. Due to covid i was in online class and we had an exam every tuesday, but if you watch the chapter videos and do the homework then you should be fyn. If you have a chance to take this class then don't miss it.

Professor Etgen was an AMAZING professor. Online school was definitely a challenge, however he was very understanding and caring. His grading is also very straight forward, you do your work, if help is needed, just ask, and you will pass. He is also very kind about family issues and will try to do whatever he can to help, just let him know.

Make sure you watch the lecture videos and take the notes in the workbook and I would recommend start the homework early not the day of the exam! Overall he is very thorough and a great Professor! If you do the homework you will do great on the test because the questions are exactly the same style!

Great class. I passed with an A doing pretty much the bare minimum. Always watch the workbook lectures and fill in the gaps in your own workbook because they show up in the quizzes. The professor asked us to purchase two textbooks and send him proof, but he ended up sending me the pdf version of one and I never touched the second book.

I have so much things to say here about Professor Etgen. He's straight forward, whatever he post as a video was and will be useful for your quizzes and test. I struggle in math but this class was AH-MAZING! Really cool professor! A gem here!

Good teacher. He is rated highly but dont expect it to be easy either. Youll need to work a lot, (I mean it is a 4 unit class) but you will learn and you should get an A. The way his class is designed, its almost impossible not to get an A or B as you cant move on to the next assignment until you score at least a 80% on the pervious. Offers EC!

Absolutely amazing professor. I made this account solely to rate him. He used a third party website, it was MyOpenMath, which I have never heard of. However, it was super straight forward. Showed the entire semester of work in advance. No surprises, and if you failed a quiz you could retake it. This is the best math teacher I have ever had. Ever.

Professor Etgen cares about his students and followed up with me via email going above and beyond to assist me in my studies and needs for the class. He provides a custom workbook for his STAT300 course that allowed me to understand and accel in the course much easier. Take Prof Etgen!

At first when I enrolled in his stats class I was scared that I was going to fail because I suck at math, but I passed the class with a A. He uses My open math its so easy to navigate. He gives a lot of practice which helps you with the exams. He response time is really fast. You will definitely pass this class. Dont procrastinate though.

Absolutely the best professor I have taken so far! He has clear expectations and his lectures are very organized. He breaks down all of the material. Even though the class itself is hard, I think you can easily pass if you put enough effort into it. The lectures are prerecorded and reasonably long. Overall, I would definitely recommend him :)

Intimidated by math? Take Professor Etgen! He is an AMAZING professor! I hardly used the textbook because his lectures were on YouTube and the workbook (he wrote!). Plenty of practice opportunities for assignments. Course is WELL organized in MoM, and he responded quickly to emails. EVERY student should take his math courses!! He's phenomenal!

He replies fast, if you have any question among the chapters. He will extend your assignments if you ask him to. There are practice tests and assignments before you do the actually assignment and it helped me understand the concept more.

Professor Etgen is extremely helpful with concepts that you're having trouble grasping. He is very prompt with email responses. He is always willing to help. I suggest purchasing the recommended textbook that he made and the recommended calculator, even though it's expensive. He is so nice and really cares about his student's success.

While I was in High School I got the chance to take some ARC classes, I took up my chance to take 2 classes. After a horrible first semester, Professor Etgen made it up with his class. He is a very caring professor and responded to all my emails quickly. I wish I had taken his class in person, as he seems like an awesome person to be with.

Videos, work software, calculators: all made by him. Multiple tries on homework questions; quizzes are just different numbers. Just watch videos to understand material. He responds quickly; always willing to give extensions. If you average 80% on quizzes while never scoring below around 75%, you don't have to take the final. Overall low stress.

Very chill class, would definitely recommend taking it. The content is easy, and you can do 90% of the work on a calculator by plugging in the numbers given.

Professor Etgen is incredible - he made a daunting stats course super manageable. The lectures are clear, he's responsive, and he gives lots of support. Resources like Unstuck ai were also super helpful for my study prep.

It was very much go at your own pace and you could go ahead in the material if you wanted to. Due dates and instructions for assignments/tests/projects were very straightforward. His textbook and videos explained the content well. Some subjects were a bit confusing, but you just have to put in a but of effort. He is a very easy and nice professor!!

Super accommodating with everything. Even in the quizzes and tests themselves, you could attempt each question up to 3 times which was very helpful. One minor thing I disliked was just the sheer number of different online tools we had to use; plugging in numbers got really tedious. Other than that, great course, great professor.

I wouldn't say that the class is super easy; there are a lot of assignments and a chapter exam at the end of every week, as well as a lengthy project at the end of the semester. Although, Professor Ben is great with giving feedback. He is super caring and will do his best to help when you need it. I loved this professor and would take him again!

By far the best teacher I have had for an online course. He is super kind, understanding, and very good at helping you out with any questions or concern that you may have. As long as you do the work, its fairly easy to understand his lessons and complete the assignments.

Professor Etgen has been exceptional and has significantly helped me grasp introductory statistics. His lectures are concise, lasting a maximum of two hours per week, and the workload is quite manageable, as he allows two weeks to complete assignments. He responds to emails promptly and is always respectful and understanding.

He was incredibly nice and respond really fast. He'll usually let you turn in late work and gives a bunch of opportunities to improve your grade. Definitely the best professor I've ever had.

Before I had enrolled in STATS300, I had heard rumors of Professor Etgen on multiple occasions. Stories of a great reputation as a professor had circled around my classroom. It was something I had to see for myself, and boy I was not disappointed. I would write more but I am limited by these character limit. He's just a chill guy who teaches.

Overall, very chill professor. The course is on My Open Math, lots of help available if your stuck. I struggled a little because I don't do well with online math courses. The extra credit is super easy and brought my grade from a 93 to 97

Very nice and approachable, course work is fairly easy (although I am more of a math person than normal) and is very flexible on due dates with communication. Also a good amount of extra credit can be given and if you perform well enough, you don't have to take the final.

If you're on the fence about whether to take this class take it anyway! The professor gives clear and concise lectures and explains exactly what needs to be done in emails throughout the semester. Multiple extra credit chances and will allow extensions and late work.
