Best class I had this semester was with Fineman. In my class, homework was optional (you only received a grade for it if you chose to do it; it was online.) Answers questions great, very approachable. However, the class was pretty fast paced. So long as you know how to ask for clarification, and how to study for tests, you'll be perfectly fine.

If u do intend to do homework (which is helpful) he takes the best 2 out of 3 hws to calculate your grade. Plus your final replaces the midterm grade if u do better.

Took the legendary Fineman for 4B as well as Math 19 in the summer. Can say he lives up to his reputation as one of the best math professors at Mission. Grading system is very clear as well as forgiving. Although not recommended, you can ditch all classes and if you just show up for the final and get an A in it you will get an A in the class.

One of the greatest teachers I have had in any subject. Gives very little homework (1 to 2 questions per day), which might seem too little for full comprehension. However, his lectures are very in-depth and allow for easy comprehension of concepts. His tests are very simple and have questions that are very similar to the homework and practice tests

Took his math4b and math19 this summer. Tbh his lectures are pretty dry but his easy tests definitely make up for it.

Hw is optional, graded by either just exams or by hw and exams, whichever is the higher grade. Exams were open book and note. If you do the hw exams are pretty easy. Most assignments took me 30 min. Usually two assignments per class, though all are due at the end of semester. Buy MathLab & get eText access, dont bother buying physical Txtbk.

He is probably the easiest math professor ever. He has two grading criterias. Either do all the homework with the tests or do no homework and only have the Exams count as your grade. His lectures are very boring but the class is not hard at all.

If I didn't take this professor for Calculus I would've been screwed. He is a really laid back professor and is not demanding for which this material usually is, so that definitely helped out a lot. The homework is optional, but I'd suggest to do it because the class heavily relies on test scores. I would take this prof again for sure.

Slightly faster-paced, but always willing to help explain more. Tests are very short (~5Q) but he lets you have a cheat sheet and he makes the questions simple. math is NOT my best subject at all, i never did good with math since i could remember. but, when i took his class, i passed it with a B! he is an incredible professor, he really knows his stuff, explains things really well, and will answer any questions you have! just pay attention to his lectures and you will do great in the class :-)

Really chill professor. He explains topics in depth in a way easy to understand. He is quite stoic but he is nice and answers questions thoroughly. The tests are spread out through the semester and are relatively easy; 8-12ish questions + the problems are simple (only sin, cos, tan mostly) and he goes over the study guide solutions before the test.

Such a good and succinct summer course. His lectures cover all of the material in a digestible way and he has a review period where he covers what kinds of problems will be on the exam. I did not study outside of doing the required hw problems and attending lecture and made the best grade I have ever gotten in a math class.

Professor Fineman is definitely one of my favorite math professors of all time. He is very patient and willing to answer any questions or repeat himself. Gives many cheat sheets on final exams, and he is lenient in grading the exams, making it even easier to pass the class. You have to try very hard to not do well in this class, it's a very easy A.

Along with being a very kind and respectful professor, if we do all of the homework assignments and set up our own cheat sheets for midterms and finals, we will end up with a pretty good grade. The only downside is that I often get bored while in a very long lecture, but it's still a worthy class for an easy high passing grade for calculus!!!

I was really nervous for this class but I'm so grateful I took his class. He goes over the info well, answers all questions & will re-show examples to clarify any confusion. His class had a fairly unique grading system; you could either have your grade be 50% Final Exam & 50% Midterm, or 50% Final Exam, 25% Midterm, & 25% Homework. Answers the most unsmart questions in detail and the tests are exactly like the practice tests and goes over each topic in such detail and helps u understand. Attendance and hw are optional, and recordings are posted. tests are graded in 20 min. legendary professor.
