Like many, I took this class for the field trips, but soon I fell in love with the subject! He tries to scare away the non-majors at the beginning by exaggerating how hard the class is. If you come to every class and do the work you will do fine (I'm a history major). Never seen a science teacher so enthusiastic about his subject.

He is very interested in what he teaches you, which makes it easy to be engaged which is a definite plus. All quizzes+exams are open book, however exams are extremely difficult even with the open book. The final is worth 30% of your final grade, and was very hard. Dr. Jordan is a great teacher! I have never had a teacher that puts things as simple as he does. His tests can be hard even though they are open note, but you just need to look through the notes better. He does a lot off of application rather than memorization. Dr. Ben is a really good teacher. His class is well organized, everything you need to know is there at the beginning of the semester which is useful and keeps student's stress level low. I have also learnt A LOT of stuff, things that I didn't think I would be interested in if I had not taken this class.

He keeps you interested in the material which can often be hard when always using powerpoint. He has his expectations for you as a student as every teacher should and provides opportunity to learn and succeed.

I'm not a big science buff, but this professor kept me engaged and curious for more learning all through the semester! Attendance wasn't required, but you did a whole lot better if you went to class because he explains everything so well. I highly recommend this teacher.

Dr. Ben is a great guy! He teaches the material in a very clear interesting way -- He has pretty much traveled everywhere and has pictures in each of his lectures of lesson material he has visited! Study for the tests and do all the assignments. In my opinion he is the best teacher out there for this subject.

This class for me was very hard to understand because of vocabulary. However, the professor made power point, and I could use it instead of the book. it was really useful and helpful. The class would have been hard, but because of the ppt that he made, I could study very well.

Dr. Ben is honestly the best science teacher I have ever had. He is passionate about what he teaches and makes it so fun! Attendance wasn't mandatory but I learned so much that I really felt bad for the people who didn't come and missed out. Quizzes for every class and a few tests but all open book and all online. The class altogether was great. I've never taken this class before and his methods for teaching were helpful. His class was kept interesting and informational.

Dr. Ben is funny (reminds me of Gru from Despicable Me)! His class is everything, but boring. The only downside is purchasing the textbook, which you'll need for the online quizzes. Other than that I highly recommend taking his class. He's a cool guy that shows a lot of cool videos!

Good teacher that explains things very well. He really knows what he is talking about and has a passion for the subject. You can still do well without going to class but you will do much better, understand everything a lot better, and get more out of the class if you attend.

best teacher ever! try not to miss any homework or labs. go to the tutor, she helped us with everything and walked us through every step and double checked our answers! those were the best times! the teacher is so funny and makes you feel excited about the subject and school! best field trips! never fell asleep (like other classes) plus, he's hot!!

I loved this class! Dr. Ben is really smart in that he is able to broadened Geology and show that it is encompasses more than just rocks. I learned more about the basics of chemistry, the elements, molecules and their bonds, space and stars, volcanoes, earthquakes and much more. He kept the class interesting and gave clear examples. I recomend it.

Took his Physical science class and loved it. He structures his classes in a consistent concise manner so you always know what is expected of you. His lectures are amazing and he offers fun extra credit opportunities.

Dr. Ben is a great teacher and really knows his stuff. Ive enjoyed his teaching style and material! Everything is open note! Quizzes are straightforward and the points build up. Take advantage of all the extra credit he gives.

Dr. Ben teaches really well and uses a lot of visuals to help in his lectures. He wrote the textbook for the class, so lucky enough everything (quizzes, tests, etc.) is open book open note. Participation and attendance aren't a part of your grade, but his lectures are still interesting enough that I would suggest going. I learned A TON.

I have loved my class with Dr. Ben! He is such a good teacher and you can tell he really cares about the subject. In all my years of learning i have found out that group work helps me to learn so much of any classes. We need to have group works for this to happen.

He is very knowledgeable about oceanography, geology, and astronomy, and makes interesting connections between all of them as you learn. Expect some fun field trips! (Also, this class has very little to do with marine life just so you know)

Dr. Ben is full of knowledge and experience, loves his subject, and loves his students. He makes GEOL105 so cool! The lectures are very enjoyable and enlightening. Assignments are not hard, and are available from the start of the semester. It will save you stress later in the semester if you get ahead. The unit tests are not made to be stressful.

All assignments are online. Everything is open book/internet but youll only do well if you refer to his text. Going to class is optional but helps, although he goes on long tangents sometimes. Hes very passionate and I like how hes able to tie in scriptural references.

Attendance isn't madatory for this class but it definnitely helps in preparing for tests and it's always really cool when prof Jordan brings in samples of rocks that he's collected or found.

I would love to take an in-person class with Professor Jordan, he seems so knowledgeable and passionate that I believe I would've enjoyed this class significantly more. Other than that, very well-organized and paced online class! It was a block credit so there was homework every weekday, but it was made interesting through labs and unique readings.
