Fundies is not easy but Lerner is a very good teacher. The tests (second one in particular) are notoriously tough but everything you need to do well is taught. Lerner is a complete nerd (in a good way) and is guaranteed to make you laugh. When he talks about something he's passionate about (languages/compilers) he is at his best.

The final homework project for classes of last semester was the first one for us. I dk if they are changing easiness of the course or it was just being mean. Have to do self-eval *the day after* you submitted each homework, otherwise you will receive a Zero. It has been annoying and pretty much breaks your schedule. Pick another Prof if u can

You wouldn't pass even if you attend all his lectures. He sort of expects every student to come with a 100% solid Java skill, and only come to the class for highly philosophical MVC and other design patterns. Again, don't take his course before you finish a significant amount of online Java courses. 2/3 of my friends in this course dropped/failed.

Lerner makes you work for every point you get, but that's why he's such a great prof. Never unfair, but not going to give away any answers. If he's the one who wrote a test you're going to take, go in expecting to spend the full exam time trying to think through it. If you can handle a hard class, can't recommend highly enough.

Lerner is an excellent lecturer. He is super sassy and doesn't let students get away with thinking they know more than they do. With a department wide curriculum his students are more prepared for each exam than students in the other sections. While attendance isn't technically mandatory you will not do well if you miss his lectures.

I enjoyed his lectures. He can be pretentious at times (and sometimes talks down to people) which is nothing out of the ordinary for academia. I thought that his lectures were good and useful to attend, they seemed to track the homeworks closely. The labs were fairly removed from the lectures and felt similar to the exams. attend attend attend

Ok, listen up. This class will be the hardest of your entire life. Let that sink in. Lerner is one of the smartest teachers I have ever had. He also the most condescending. But he wants his students to succeed. Start assignments the DAY THEY ARE RELEASED. Do NOT procrastinate or you will FAIL. Attend lectures, ask questions, you'll do fine.

Prof. Lerner is easily the single best CS professor at Northeastern I've had so far. His classes are hard, and will very likely be the hardest class you'll take that semester - but hard doesn't mean bad. You learn A LOT more than the same class with other instructors, and he is extremely clear about what's expected. He's also very fun in class.

He teaches very, very well. If you want to get something meaningful out of the course, then take his section of the course, listen intently to the lectures, and ask him any questions that you may have.

I liked his assignments. I learned a lot from the homework, despite the fact that a few took me 15+ hours to complete.

Lectures were reasonably paced, and if you miss something its on the course page. I wrote the bare minimum tests for examplar, and self-evals suffered for it. Assignments were reasonable, and follow-up assignments were quick if your code was written well. And don't forget to make a design decision and document it.

Prof. Lerner is a truly special teaching professor. His lectures are very well thought-out, and he seeks to motivate each new topic introduced in a way that makes it feel as if you could have come up with it yourself. He is readily available outside of class, and always willing to help when you need it.

Great professor! He is very knowledgeable and excellent at communicating the intuition and basis for difficult concepts! He does expect students to put in a lot of effort, but IMO it is worth it

I took the accelerated section and learned a lot in this class! If you have either a good amount of programming experience or the desire to be challenged I really recommend taking this course. Wasn't easy or anything, but wasn't irrationally difficult. Helpful TAs and the one time I went to his office hours he was extremely friendly and helpful.
