He was ok, he gets really mad when you dont show up to class. His test are a little hard but he will usually grade on a curve. You just really have to work for your grade.
Very clear and Easy to understand. Very fair when it comes to grades. He will take the time to help with home work so that it is understood. Book use is minimal, however his class notes are out of the book. Excellent teacher.
College Algebra and pre-Algebra: One of those math teachers who will not skip steps assuming you should know. Patient with all questions and very deliberate with examples. Wish I had more math teachers like this.
Mr. McDole is the most wonderful Professor in College Algebra. He took a subject I hate and I am horrible at and made it seem easy. He is very helpful and as long as you show up and do your homework you will do great. He is very helpful and wants to see his students succeed. He is the best Algebra professor you could ask for!
The guy has a dry sense of humor. Which I find funny as hell! Don't be late, lie or have your phone on and you will love his class.
He is currently my teacher. I dont like math at all, I struggle with it. He is BY FAR the best teacher ive ever had period. For the first time ever im doing math and understanding it. Unlike the rest of the math teachers ive had, he doesnt rapidly throw info at you. He takes his time and he doesnt move on untill everyone understands :)
Great teacher had him twice in mac 1105 he is very helpful and very funny its immposible to fail his class no matter what class it is..he is very easy going on test and you cannot fail trust me
He is a fair and balanced teacher. If you show up, pay attention, and study you will get an A. I am far from profficient in Math, but with him I get it (don't necessarily retain it, but oh well). You get to drop your lowest test score and he grades on a curve. I highly recommend him, especially for those not mathematically inclined.
Taught for both Int level and College Algebra. Took a lifelong fear of Math, and made it an acheivable subject. Very patient, understanding and approachable. His teaching methods made all the difference in both classes. I passed both with "A"s!
Honestly the only teacher that could have erased a lifelong fear of math, and created a student who was capable of getting an "A" not once, but twice. Very patient, and more than fair. He is the one to take, I assure you!
I am not a Math Person but I passed this class with a B. If you don't like homework then do not take this class because you will get plenty. Teacher gives you a week to Finish homework so thats a plus! You will need to study only 5 test all semester. HE WILL NOT A-B-C you this is college!! Don't buy a book its waste of money. Cell phone= put out!!
Mcdole actually took over my Intermediate class because our teacher got hurt. Thank GOD he did because our original teacher was horrible. Mcdole salvaged the class, and I passed with an A. He is also a funny guy, just dont P him off
He is an OK teacher but the amount of homework is ridiculous. He gives you homework on-top of homework on-top of homework. This is no exaggeration. He will give you homework from Math XL,then he will give you a huge problem to solve and send him via e-mail, and lastly he will assign every chapter we went over on Math XL due by the end of the year.
Excellent teacher, explains in great detail and makes math easy to understand. Everyone should take him for College Algebra.
Professor McDole is a very fair teacher. He is very helpful when assistance or clarification is needed. I wouldnt say the class was easy because come on it's math. I would definitely recommended taking his class. Funny guy too!
He is a really awesome human been, very fair and just easy to understand. Love his teaching. Buena gente (goo person. Math is completely different for me now.Monica.
I love this teacher so much I took him for intermediate algebra and college algebra. He has a fun way of learning and he is so nice, even if i dont get the problem he will help you until you do. His way of explaining things is great. I will take him every year for math. The best professor I have ever had through my whole college experience.
thee beestt
Terrible at helping with exam reviews
as long as you go to class, you will get an 'A'
the 1 good thing is that he doesn't use the text book & told us we could return it. but he is a stickler about coming to class and being on time. he almost punishes you for being late which is unfair. he's funny but i think a bit controlling, but he's an ok guy. pretty easy to get an A!
I really liked this teacher because he had an excellent way to getting you to understand everything as long as you never miss any of his classes! Make sure to visit the tutor help with your practice exam and youll ace all your tests
Was not a good teacher to me. When ever I asked questions he answerd them like i was stupid for not understanding. I would NOT take him again. I went to my old teachers for help. Even though i passed the cass it was not b/c of him! He says that we are all adults, but he treats you like a 5 year old child. Not a good teacher.
He's an easy going guy, funny sometimes... But not a good teacher (in my opinion). He wasn't clear enough! & all of our homework being online on mathxl didnt really help either. Wouldn't take him again :/
awesome teacher math is not my strong point but he made it less difficult for me to understand.
I was NOT expecting 2 pass this class bcuz of F in prior MAT 1033, however, liked him Day 1, Easy going, funny, kinda sarcastic @ times. Just Come 2 class (although he does not take attendance) do ur hmwrk (MathXL), don't use cell phone in class. The rvws 4 exam r nearly identical 2 the exams. No txt book reqr'd. I got an A! WhoooHoo!! Take him!!
This is one of the best math teachers I have ever had!! Definitely the best math professor at HCC! I HIGHLY recommend this class to all nursing students!! He makes the class fun and easy, but you have to do the homework. If you are not a fan of math to begin with, you will end the semester loving it :)
LOL "Fair teacher", "Go to class and get an A"...Yep sounds like McDole. If you want to slack half a semester in this guys class, no problem. He will likely let you correct all your tests and homework AFTER assigned due dates. Pathetic. He inflates his grades to reflect better upon himself. If you want to cheat yourself take McDole.
I've taken him for both College Algebra and Calc and I have to say he's the best math teacher I've had. Very easy to understand. Does not use text books but provides really good useful notes to help you with homework and tests. Will give you a review prior to every test, so if you practice the review you should be able to do well on the test.
Not an easy class. Lots of homework, but able to be done. Lots of notes, usually lets you out of class early. Take home exams, he says you should spend an hour on each problem, took more like 2 to 3 hours per problem. Very sarcastic, and not helpful unless you go to him during office hours. It is a passable class, but lots of work. Goodluck!
Nice laid back guy. However you get sent home early most classes before getting the clarity that you need from your section. He will help you in office hours sorta. When he teaches lessons he skips steps leaving you questioning what happened sometimes. No book required. Not an Easy A, you have to work for it. No study guides and no multiple choice.
This has been an exciting and easy course. The way he teaches the class and presents examples makes me want to learn and I get it. He does not teach from the book which was strange to me at first but it works. I wish I could take all of my math classes with Mr. McDole.
I don't recommend him. He is a laid back guy, however, he doesn't really explain the problems that well. You have really pay attention to understand what he teaches. You really have to work for an A in this class.
The next section we're being graded on is Calc II material. I'm in Calc I. See the problem there? Not clear, A LOT of hw, HARD tricky/not straightforward tests. Refuses to answer your questions after you've missed a class. I love math, but I'll be lucky if I pass this class.
Really hard class and he moves really fast. He quizes you on homework after you have already taken a test on the material. If you fall behind on the homework it is very hard to catch back up. His tests are hard and not strait forward. I will likely fail this class.
Exams are tough, no multiple choice. However, very fair grading system. He gives partial credit if you show your work. I could of used a few more examples in class but the homework and practice tests help with the clarity. Helpful answering questions after class or in office hours. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you skip its hard to catch up
If I can make an A in math this teacher must be incredible. No text book to carry a plus! Guess what? you have to study to understand math. Ben makes it easy if you show up for class and do the homework. He was available before and after class. All you have to do is ask and he is there. I will be taking him again next semester.
Algebra is not easy, period. That said, Ben's teaching style is clear and easy to follow. He does not tolerate children in the classroom(thank goodness!)A more than fair grader, curving grades to second highest in class. Take him, you'll learn the materiel. I even got an A. Wow, I have to credit him for a lot of my success.
He's a cool professor. Easy to understand and will help you out if you ask him. The only bad part is he assigns lots and lots of homework. He goes over hw problems and over tests with the class. Calculus itself is a pretty rough course but he does a good job at explaining most of it. He interacts with the class sometimes, so studying is a must!
I took him for business calculus as well as college algebra. He's a great professor and has a very clarifying teaching style. I was terrified to take calculus and was sure I would fail, and I passed with a B with his help. He's easy to understand and a fair grader. There is a lot of homework and studying is a must. Love him though!
I took him for College Algebra and he was a good professor. He showed multiple ways to work problems, but taught you the easiest/most effective ways. He has good reviews for his exams. I would recommend him
McDole is a great teacher. He is very organized in his teaching style and will help students if they need it. I have clinical adhd and find it tough to have teachers that speak to fast or slow, or with an accent. McDole keeps my attention the entire time. I would recommend him to any of my friends..
Cool teacher, tough class. His tests are tricky, and he makes the homework harder on purpose. He makes you memorize all the formulas, and dont take this class unless your really good at math.
pre clac is not an easy class and he make it worse i am good at math and if YOU ARE NOT do not take him because he is sarcastic and very tricky on his tests did i mention you need to remmber all the formulas for the final and no review// helping sheet on the final absolute insane!!
I’ve never rated a professor before, but this is the worst professor I have ever had. Don’t take him for Trig!. I love math and have never failed an exam before his class. He grades weird. (28 pts on a test with 33 problems.) Trick questions, poor reviews, and he has a heavy hand when he grades. I was lucky to get a b+ in his class.
He works out everything on the board. He has a good sense of humor. You are required to memorize a lot of formulas, but if you can do that and study, you should do good. If you are going to be late, don't bother showing up.
the guy is a horrible teacher, constantly giving tons of hw and thinks its funny to make the homework harder and tests tricky. def glad im not taking him again i recommend Quinlan for this class. I heard shes wayyy better. RUN THE OTHER WAY FROM THIS GUY!!!
Mr McDole is a great teacher but his homework/testing methods are cruel and unusual. Notes and examples are perfect to pick up and learn but trying to apply it to homework/tests is difficult or impossible. He doesn't provide formulas for tests and he doesn't give multiple choice exams (besides finals), which is helpful to everyone. Don't take him
I took him for pre-calc/trig combines course, he is a very good teacher, requires you to memorize all the formulas he teaches, like a real college teacher, and taking him for calc over the summer, hw is overwhelming and harder than the actual tests, and tests can take up the whole class, but a VERY good teacher.
Taking his precalc/trig class right now. While the class is very difficult because there is so much to do in such a short time he tries to make it as easy for you as possible. As long as you put in the effort into doing the homework and paying attention to what he says you're golden. I prob will take calc 2&3 with him in the future. Take him!! :)
As long as you pay attention and do the homework, you should be good. Practice, practice, and more practice! You can't just slip by in this class. Mr. McDole is very helpful and homework is a GREAT grade buffer. You will leave the class understanding the concepts and ready to take Calc 2 and 3 if you need to. Also, KNOW YOUR TRIG.
Honestly, you cant get up to go to the bathroom without him getting mad about it. He is a very strict and rude teacher. He is not the "prospect" for a kind professor. Will never take him again.
Strict and kind of rude. God forbid if you don't copy down everything he writes on the board. It's elementary school all over again. He takes off one letter grade if you're late 3 times. So be there early. He also tries to deduct as many points as possible on your exams so make sure you triple check your answers. Take him if you want a challenge.
teaches trig and stuff pretty well. he's real cool as long as you dont act like a jackoff. It wasnt easy but as long as you go to class and do your hw, its not hard either. doesnt take attendance but dont show up late. def do the hw, the sooner the better. taking him for calc 1.
McDole is a good teacher, but also expects a good amount of work from the students. Calc was 15-20 questions homework for each section(my summer class is 2 sections a day, 3 days a week). Homework through textbook(find pdf online free), doesn't use MyMathLab(thank god!). Does not care about attendance but if you are going to show up, don't be late.
I don't recommend taking him for upper level math courses in the summer. Actually, just don't take upper level math in summer, period. I would say that he is a very nice guy and his teaching style is magnificent. Tests are a little hard, though. Just make sure you have the time to study. I might retake his class in fall when I have more time.
Prof. Mcdole is a great teacher! I've taken him for three semesters in a row now, he truly is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He really knows the information VERY well and doesn't mind answering a question or helping you out. Be sure to do the homework and pay attention. I highly recommend him if you are serious about your education.
Great lecturer, test questions were simpler than homework problems and he was a pretty forgiving grader in my experience. Only negative is as others have said he can get eye-rollingly worked up about little things like people packing up their bags while he's still talking, not waiting for the break to go to the bathroom etc. I'd take him again.
McDole is good but you need to put the work in. Don't show up late, or leave early. Lectures are clear and is clear on what he wants you to memorize. DO IT. Your pop quizzes and tests depend on it. Tough class but if you apply yourself you'll do well.
test reviews very similar to the Test. easy A
Do not mistake his kindness for weakness.
He is a really good professor. Explains stuff well. If you are lazy, don't do his homework, and skip class you WILL fail. Homework and reviews are essential to understanding the material and passing tests. Don't expect extra credit. Kinda hard but he really is fair so people that complain probably didn't work too hard in his class. Don't need book.
I loved Professor Mcdole! He is 100 % clear on what you need to do to pass and he is always willing to help anyone after class. He is by far one of my favorite teachers and has made my first semester of college great! Plus his sarcasm is pretty hilarious!
Excellent professor. Really cares about students and is very knowledgeable. Learned a lot from him.
He is one of those professors that he explains something and its easy, the homework its also easy because you do it on Mymathlab, but his test are horrible and really hard. he was also very rude saying that "extra credit and quizzes are a waste of my time". Do yourself a favor and Don't take him.
Professor McDole is an amazing teacher. He explains all the lessons thoroughly and answers any and all questions. There is a lot of homework, but it is easy and very manageable. The tests are also extremely easy. He is very nice and funny, lectures go by quickly. Show up to class, and it will be an easy A.
Show up, pay attention, take notes, practice, and he provided all the tools for success. Those that missed multiple classes or did not do any of the homework usually failed his tests.
I found him easy to follow and understand the concepts taught. Asking questions and talking to him after class helped me the most.
His Method of teaching is really different from what is normal. Personally, one thing that I didn't really like is his notes at the board ( Too messy, not organized, and jumped from between boards explaining the same concept). You definitely have to do your homework if you want to pass. Did not seem as he was too tough.
He is a good teacher. Make sure you listen, take notes, ask questions, study, and DO HOMEWORK.
Do. Your. Homework. Prof McDole is very fair in his grading and often test problems come from the lectures. As he pointed out there was a direct link between students who did not do the homework and poor test grades. He is very approachable after class and willing to go the extra step to help you in your academic success.
I took him and was not too happy. ALL HIS TEST ARE WRITTEN! The homework is long boring and hard. I do not recommend anyone to take this class unless they absolutely love challenges.
As long as you study for tests and complete the homework on time you'll pass. All HW is done in my mathlab with unlimited attempts. Grades fair and offers opportunities for extra credit. Enjoy!
Fantastic professor. I left each lecture with a clear understanding of what we did each day. If you don't understand something, don't be afraid to raise your hand and ask. He's very good at figuring out what you're not getting and helping you to understand. Just show up to class on time, don't skip, pay attention to lecture, and do your homework.
Responds quickly to emails
If you enjoy being treated like a child then this is the professor for you!! Seriously though this guy should just go teach high school. You will be sent out of class for a phone, yelled at for not doing homework or bringing a calculator, he doesn't allow you to leave the room and come back in, won't let you come in late. His teaching is all over the place and very hard to follow. Huge waste of time and money.
I took this math class knowing most of the material already, so luckily I didnt have to show up much. He is a lazy teacher and you can tell he doesnt care much about the students. If hes having a bad day you'll be able to tell. Definitely would recommend a different professor or just take the class online.
The man knows what he's doing. Smart and explains the material well. BUT on some days he's totally different. He can get EXTREMELY rude for no reason. Will kick people out of class if they don't have a calculator or if they check their phone after finishing their work. Not bad but he should go teach high school if he wants to run a class like that.
Mr. McDole is a wonderful mathematics instructor. He is very good at teaching, & very clear. If you don't understand ASK, he will explain exceptionally throughly. It's a math class you can not avoid homework, just do it. He answers emails quickly, and is a very fair grader. Pro tip: On all exams always answer the question. He gives partial cred
take someone else unless you're already great at math. Lots of online homework
This is by far one of the best instructors I have ever had in my life. He is really good at what he does and is super smart. His notes are interactive and pre typed for you, all you need to do is print them and come to class to fill them in. He made stat way more fun than I thought it would be and he is really funny.
Awesome lectures. Do the homework and the online practice exam before the exam and you will get an A.
He is a great teacher and cares as much as you do about your grade. If you are not a good math student, he is there to help you. There is a lot of homework but do not wait until the last minute to do it or you will or sorry at the end of the semester. He gives you everything you need to pass you just have to put in the time and effort.
Best Math Professor i have had to date!!! If you're a slacker you will fail but his lectures are key and he really explains anything you ask no question are ever too dumb. As long as you show a true effort this class is an easy A or B. Also his test are challenging but if you practice there is no question you cant solve on his tests.
Pretty simple class. I enjoy math and think of it as my favorite subject but I wouldn't say I'm a math wiz. Mr. McDole is a chill teacher throwing in some sports stats and jokes here and there. He'll even base some of his questions around real sports stats such as avg NBA height, batting avg, etc. Did all hw at the end of the year, took 5-6 hrs.
McDole is the man. He's brilliant but teaches with the student in mind. His lectures are clear and thorough. Handwritten tests and graded very fairly. If you get an A on the first 4 tests, you're exempt from the final. Do the homework, go to class, and you'll become more proficient in all things math.
Overall one of the best math professors I've ever had. He's organized and easy to follow and tests are easy if you follow along and keep up with the homework on MML. He's also great at explaining everything and acts like he cares about everyone's grades. I've never been a fan of math or very good at it, but he helped me get a 92% in this class.
HIGHLY recommend
Professor McDole has a way of making Statistics somewhat likeable. He uses credible facts and statistics about real life examples in his lectures which are pretty interesting. Oh, and if you're taking McDole don't come to class without printing the template notes he posts before each class. Tests mirror exactly what we cover in class (no surprises)
Probably one of the best math professors I've met. He told us which parts of Calculus are used for those pursuing majors including mine. Also, he even made trigonometry a reliable ally of mine instead of an enemy. I definitely recommend him if you want to learn Calculus the most straightforward and fun way.
Solid teacher for stat and his examples are pretty interesting. And no you dont need to be good at math to take this class. No surprises on tests either. Also, PRINT YOUR TEMPLATES, it makes life so much easier. I too waited until the end of the semester do all the hw, took anywhere from 5-8 hours.
McDole is a quality teacher by explains things well/thoroughly, but makes it hard to asks questions in his class. For example, if you ask if any specific phrase/type of question will be on the exam, he responds with "well now it is!" It makes it hard to ask for help when every time you ask it will result in him making the next test more challenging
He's a great instructor who is more than willing to help you and will even go over your work with you outside of class. His tests consist of problems he has shown in class , some from the homework, and then a couple that may be original. Complete your homework and you'll do just fine.
Tests are nothing like the homework and the homework is nothing like the notes in class. Prepare to fail because our class test average was always a D or F.
His attendance was non-mandatory but he didnt post any notes online so itd be better to just go to lecture, if you dont understand something hell explain it until you get it. He was pretty chill for th good most part, he got mad if you left class early though. Or started to pact up early.
Just go to class, pay attention, bring a calculator a pencil and your printed notes and do your homework and you will pass. This is by far the best and most organized prof for math I have had. Although he seems a bit harsh he is a good teacher.
I recommend taking TRIG with Mcdole, he is very helpful when you need him to explain something again. Bring you calculator, don't text in class, come to class, DO your homework and you will be ready to pass it.
He is a very nice professor. Me being from India, I was able to understand all of his lectures and were very understandable. I am also taking him for next semester. Would definitely recommend him.
Isn't afraid to speak his mind and kick you out of the room when deserved. However, if you're a respectful person then he's a real hoot. He does a great job of breaking things down into the bare essentials and adding on complexity as things go. No book but MyMathLab required. Very interactive and is good at answering clarifying questions. Take him.
His lectures are clear, logical, and never rushed. The homework is challenging but there isn't a lot. Exams are short, concise, and typically very similar to the material covered in class. He's a fantastic professor with a great sense of humor and you'll be happy you chose him if you have more math classes to take.
Mr. McDole is a great teacher to have for precalc/trig. His lessons for the most part are clear and, while he does give homework, its usually not overbearing and is designed to help you do well on the tests. Textbook rarely used. Be sure not to pull out your phone or pack up early or he will get mad. It could always be worse is his life motto.
