He is extremely hard. He goes way to fast and when asked to slow down he simply said to write faster. He is horrible.
Pretty difficult, but if you pay attention and study, it shouldn't be too difficult to pass. He's very clear and thorough in everything he teaches

Dr. Price is has very interesting letures, but his tests are CRAZY. You will see things on the tests that he never even talked about. He also wanted you to read about 150 pages in the text book for one test. If you like history, then take him...but if he don't...DO NOT TAKE!!!
Yes, he's difficult. But he's the professor that will weed out the freshmen that are in college and blow it off. He's serious about his subject. I'm taking him a second time because I know how he teaches. I studied my butt off for the first class, but I got an "A". If you want to pass, you need to study. There's no way around it!
If you go to class, it's easy. Review a little bit before the exam, and you'll be fine. Very nice, Very friendly, Fairly Easy. And he's passionate about the subject, which makes it interesting -- a very good professor.
He is SO hard. His exams are 20 multiple choice, 5 or more IDs and an essay question that has to be at least two pages long. He also teaches at LSU and gives us the same tests as LSU. I know of many students over there that are failing his class. He knows his stuff really well, but his exams are very hard.
awesome professor!!! his tests are kinda confusing but as long as you study all the material he gives you, you'll make an A. you only need to go to class to take notes. he's very into his history so ask questions & it'll go by faster. my suggestion: take it! you dont have to study 24/7 just read the notes.
People complain that his tests are hard, but they're not nearly as hard as they could be. He obviously likes history and tries to make his lectures interesting for the students. If you go to all the classes, take notes, and read the online lectures you should do fine.
Lecture is very entertaining and informative. He has online notes that correspond to each lecture. They are not the typical boring powerpoint, more like an interesting conversation about history. My class had 3 scantron tests, no essays. You really must study, attend class and add to your online notes with lecture. I really enjoyed this class.
Lectures are very original and interesting. His test were all essay and he graded kinda hard. only two test and a comprehensive cumulative final. His test added a great deal of stress to me for the semester. If you are willing to put in the work, take him, ull like him.
Ok. what do you people expect? Is he suppose to tuck you in at night also? This class is not difficult, if you would set the bong down and STUDY! I loved every class and I think he is very professional and honest about his expectations. He rocks and you will learn something!
Very, very interesting professor but I warn you, he is difficult so if you're looking to coast through a required course for your major, don't pick him. If you're a history major taking him is a must!
Tests are unspeakable...too much information required to put into 50 multiple choice questions. If you're like me and really don't care about history DON'T, i repeat, DO NOT take this class...it should be a REQUIREMENT to be a history major to take this class. ur mind will take so many trips it's ridiculous,
Great teacher, lectures are funny and entertaining. Exams are two essays and a handful of definitions, and he gives you a short list of essay questions ahead of time to prepare. Take notes and study and you'll do great.
Took him for Roman History. I liked the class, but I thought he was kind of dull. Majority of grade was based on essays of 3 ancient histories. Be careful, his wife is apparently an english teacher, so the papers are graded on grammar as well as on content.
His Lectures are pretty entertaining but way too much information for his test. Recommendation DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
Very fun lecturer....I look forward to going to his class...He tells interesting stories and tests are easy if you study your notes and his exam outlines... He makes everything pretty staight forward...i do see how it could be a little overwhelming for people who find history boring...booooo
Love this class. His tests are difficult and the only way to pass is to be prepared. Dont ever try to cram for his tests. But he's a great teacher, really funny, and he doesnt sugarcoat anything. Great teacher. I enjoy going to his class.
He is an awesome teacher! He makes History so interesting. He doesn't really go from the book, most of his tests come from his lectures and all the quizzes are bonus points! I highly recommend him!
I love this man like WOAH. I can't count how many times I've lolled out loud in class. His lectures are very informative and funny. His tests are hard, but they're all scantron and you can download copies of his notes online. He tells you to read along in the textbook as you go through class but I never had to do it. I crammed and got an A.
Very Hard and test questions are wriiten very tricky.
I didn't really like Price personally, but his class really isn't that hard. He injects his political views into his lectures, but he actually is quite funny and usually makes the lectures more exciting. He posts all the notes online, so print them out, study them, and go to class regularly, and you'll get an A or a B. Pretty straight-forward guy.
HARD AS HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT TAKE AT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
GREAT teacher. All of his quizzes are extra credit and he offers bonus points on all his tests, even the final. As long as you study, you will have no problem. Take notes in class and compare them to the ones on-line and you are almost guarenteed an A.
He was the easiest teacher ever.E mailed his notes. Very funny.
I spend most of my time studying for his class. It's intense. Honestly, I would probably like the class more if I shared his views on certain topics, but since I don't, the class is halfway painful for me. He's straightforward with his expectations, and pretty easy-going.. I just didn't really care for his personal interjections in class. At all.
He tries to make his lectures interesting - and succeeds, in my opinion - and uses Powerpoints to go with them. If you don't study and don't go to class you'll fail his tests, simple as that. No homework, very punctual professor.
He is a nice and interesting professor. I've never really had a hard time in history and he made the class enjoyable. He goes a little quickly, but as long as you pay attention you will do well. I didn't have to study very hard and I've never gotten anything lower than an A.
Dr. Price is a very, very good History professor. He has all his lectures online so if you miss the class, you don't miss out on the lesson. Every class is like a story and he makes it very interesting. Essays are easy, test are to the point. Overall, the class is fun and not the hardest class you will ever take.
Dr Price is an awesome teacher. He's really cool and interesting and he makes his lectures fun and entertaining so that you can follow him easily. You do have to study for his tests, but it's really not hard at all to ace them. I used to hate history, but I actually kind of like it now and I'm taking him again next semester for History 102 H.
Goodness I loved his class I made an A and I wish I can take it again!! He was very enthusiastic about what he was teaching and was very focused. Loved him!!!
Dr. Price was very interesting and easy to learn from. With him, what you put into the class is what you get out of it, and he makes it easy to stay involved.
LOVE DR. PRICE! he is an amazing history teacher. He knows how to make history interesting. He'll talk in different european accents usually making fun of whomever and it keeps class interesting. He curves the test grades, usually 3 or 4 points but it helps so much.If you pay attention in class and review your notes the night before, youll do great!
Nice guy who makes history somewhat interesting. His tests are tough. I studied by butt off and still came out with C's while others didn't study and got A's. Just pay attention to everything and take great notes.
He was a great Proffessor.
I took a 6-9pm once a week night class with him, and he managed to make it as enjoyable as possible. The nonhonors tests are all multiple choice, and I managed to get an A by just paying attention in class with minmal studying. He is extremely entertaining and usually let us out an hour early. I wish I needed more HIST so I could take him again.
GREAT TEACHER! His lectures are so interesting! He puts the lectures online and most of the exams come from it. Some questions from the book tho. If you study lectures and practice test from book website, you should have no problem. Loved his class!
Great at teaching, but he needs to learn how to be more flexible. He won't meet with you outside his office hours even if you have a class conflicting with them. His comments on tests, papers, and emails are more negative and aimed at you personally rather than helpful criticism. Overall he's a rude old man set in his old man ways.
This guy....oh man he is awesome. I had 101 with a different professor and was totally mad that I didn't take Dr. Price for it. He is interesting! His tests are pretty simple for the most part, but they do require you to make your own studyguides and skim the chapters in the book, but I expect that in any college course. Would recommend.
hated going to that class, he was mono tone and felt unless for me to be there. would not recommend.
Ben Price is an entertaining teacher but unfortunately not quite entertaining enough for a three hour night course. I would suggest him as a teacher but NOT for a night class teacher. Also the course only had 2 tests and the final. No papers, no assignments, etc. The entire course was worth 390 points so if you screw up on a test you're done for.
He stands and lectures the whole time. He uses his own material instead of the book. He doesn't require you to know the dates of things. He isn't that hard if you pay attention and study for the tests. He doesn't seem to be available outside the classroom. Overall I didn't like him, but he isn't horrible.
Dr. Price is a great teacher... if you're a history buff. For those who are not, like, me, his class is incredibly boring. If you're in to History I would say definitely take him. If not, look elsewhere. He gives only 4 tests - so one fail and it's over. Class consists only of his own lectures. Seriously consider things before you take him people!
If you like history, take him. Other than that he was pretty boring to me. But his test have 5 bonus questions and he does curve all the test.
awwwfffullll. he uses his own notes and they're completely opinionated and he's just really terrible. don't recommend. his study guides are useless and he's a grumpy old guy. he constantly brags about how lsu is better than selu
He is very enthusiastic about his teaching, he does it well.
Knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic about his course! Relates lectures to everyday life. Very funny. Puts his lecture notes online! Tests have bonus on them! Wonderful professor
Price is fun, good looking, and generally a great educator!
Awesome class
Great class.
If you like history, you'll LOVE Price!
Fantastic class
Pretty difficult, but if you pay attention and study, it shouldn't be too difficult to pass. He's very clear and thorough in everything he teaches to his class. I like him.
He's alright.
Good teacher.Willing to answer questions about the lecture. Reads from online lecture notes; not txt-bks. Pretty easy if attend class, pay attention & study.
Class is conversational. Does not use textbooks - uses his own notes on his own website. His notes are clear, easy to read, and more informative than the textbooks. Pop quizzes given for bonus points. Additional books read for honors with papers due for each, but not graded hard. Clear about what needs to be known for tests.
I've taken HIST 102 with him in the fall and liked it so much, that I went back to take 101 even though it isn't required for my major. I made A's on all my exams, and that NEVER happens lol. Really great professor. If you like history, he is your guy.
Very cool teacher. Has some cool topics he covers. His test are very detailed and all multiple choice. No participation grades are given so you have to score good on test. I got a B over all in the class. Learned lots of information. Take notes!!!
This Professor knows what he teaches! He's very knowledgeable.Easy to take notes from as he speaks in a very conversational way. About the class:3/100 pt tests, and the final. Never any quizzes or bonus.I find the tests have gotten harder each time.He goes by his notes online with little to no textbook material.I HATE history but loved this class!!
Dr. Price is incredibly hard! unless you're a history buff, dont take his class. It's definately an honors course so if you'd like a challenge go for it. if not find another professor!
Dr. Price is very knowledgeable about the material he teaches. However his lectures are very formal and boring. His tests get gradually harder and harder with every test you take. You have to study VERY hard in this class to retain all the information. And with only two tests plus a cumulative final there is a great deal of information on each test
Very knowledgable professor. I like professors that do not have to look at their notes to teach. He knows history like the back of his hand and is good at teaching it. He is pretty funny too. Enjoyed going to his class everyday.
He is a very good lecturer and he keeps your attention the entire class period. His tests are a bit difficult so come to class, take notes, and study for the exams and you will do fine.
Dr. Price is great! His lectures are entertaining and he makes them all available online to print out and read and use for the exams. He jokes around during lectures and is very knowledgeable in his subject area.
If you go to class, take some form of notes, pay attention, and read the studies he gives you online- you will ace this class! I didn't study much, hence why I didn't make an A. I hate history, and never seem to pay attention! All the stuff just went over my head, but he curves the grades and tries to help you as much as possible. Recommend.
He knows his work, but his attitude is just bad towards students. Whenever you correct him about a mistake or even make a comment about a question he ask or even ask him a question, he catches a bad attitude. He's not helpful whatsoever and I personally wouldn't recommend taking him.
all of your tests are online until the final, and if you go to class they are pretty easy. lectures are not boring and he explains well. really nice and puts his powerpoints online. show up for class so you know what to put on the final!!
4 tests no insight as to whats going to be on it.
I wouldn't recommend him. I'm a history major and he makes me want to change it. His tests are hard and they're all online. Except the final. Don't take the tests as open note because you won't learn anything. Just record hi lectures and write the notes later because his voice will put you to sleep. READ the lectures and book or you WILL fail!!!!!!
All tests except the final are online. Make sure to study. He gives a study guide of sorts which helps to understand the material. In class final was easy. I used the lecture notes and my notes to study. All tests are straightforward. No homework or required quizzes. He does give a potential bonus for the final that's worth a letter grade.
Amazing guy. Made me change my major to History. He is so funny and makes it interesting. Love him. Plus he reminds me of Santa...
Take notes and study! I didnt study as much as I should of. I had a B in the class because the first 3 test were online. Then I took the final which was in class and it brought me down 2 letter grades. Dont make that same mistake!
I took Dr. Price in High school for duel enrollment and then again my Freshmen year. He is tough! Very few grades. Online tests are easy but final exam is very hard. You HAVE to take notes in this class!!
History is not my subject as it is, but he makes me hate it so much more. Three online exams with very vague ideas of what's going to be on it, and an in class final. His in class lecture notes don't help at all, he talks nonstop and has online notes that rarely show up on the exams. This class was TOUGH. I don't recommend him at all.
NOTES are only found in class. "Online notes," as he calls it, are his own writings which basically consist of long chapters that can easily be read in the textbook and are just as long. Become a stenographer or you will have an awful time trying to figure out what to study, therefore you won't do well. This advice comes from the experience I had.
Dr. Price is a good teacher and nice guy. He has a very sarcastic sense of humor. First three tests are online. The final is worth two test grades so do what you can to prepare. On the last day of regular class he give a quiz that is complete bonus towards the final so be there for that. Lectures are online. You also have to read the textbook too.
Nice guy. He tires to throw in some humor. Three tests are online. He gives a bonus quiz worth up to 30 points on his 200 point final. Cheating on his tests are easier said than done. You need to have at least skimmed the online lectures and you have to read out of the text book. He will also curve based on attendance.
I took Doctor Price's online summer course, and it was a challenge. It was a four-week course, so there was an average of one-hundred pages of reading and ten hours of lecture each week. The final grade was comprised merely of four exams, each with one hundred questions each. He does offer extra credit in the form of essays. You must be motivated.
Read your study guides and you should be fine
I'm still in the middle of his 101 class. I usually love history, but I am not loving this class. Before classes even started he was assigning 30 something pages of reading, even though many people were still impacted by the floods that pushed our start date back. He seems to want to fit 6 hours of material into our 3 credit hour course.
Dr. Price gives you a link to his lectures from which he literally reads off of during class. It is pointless to go to class unless you need to hear it to know it. The first 3 tests are on Moodle, which is good considering you can look up an answer if you don't know it. Downside, the final is in class and you basically teach yourself off of quizlet
Extremely boring. Literally most unnecessary but necessary class at SELU. He definitely knows what he is talking about, but it is just boring material. SO many notes. Lectures the full hour 15. TESTS ARE NOTHING LIKE NOTES. 4 total tests 3 online last one is in class- sucks.
He was an ok professor; not extraordinary, but not bad either. The lecture notes that he provides online are LONG. The powerpoints that he uses in class are not online, so I would go to class to hear his extra notes. He referenced the book on tests, but I didn't read it and got a B in the class.
Dr. Price is an awesome dude, but his class SUCKS. Way too lecture heavy, his lectures or powerpoints are not on the tests. Class isn't mandatory because he reads straight from the online lectures (which are 25-40 pages long) Truly just a terrible unorganized class, I did not learn a thing.
Good professor, and a pretty good teacher. The class is all lectures, and there is a lot of notes to take. Then there are online lectures to go with them. And textbook readings. And then he isn't too specific on what exactly on the test. If you got to class, take notes, and read read read, its not too bad. Be prepared to carry your weight.
All the test except the final are taken on Moodle and all the answers are on quizlet sets so its really easy to pass the test. Going to class is difficult, he lets out early but its a lot of information and hard to keep up. He has powerpoint that you can't print out but has packets you can print. Final is cumulative, hard to study for
Mr. Price is awesome. First week of class he gave us a bonus test to be used on our first test. 4 tests 3 are online at home and the 4th is a 100 question cumulative final 60 on the last bit of material 40 on the entire semester. show up to class so you get his notes and what he talks about. His lectures are interesting and he throws jokes in too.
I have taken him for history 101 and history 201, he is outstanding in what he teaches, but his lectures are long. If you skip class you wont necessarily fail, but you wont be making anything above a C. He will try to help if you show up to class, just be sure not to sleep everyday. He does notice that and will be less willing to help if you sleep.
First 3 tests are fine because they are online but the final will definitely drop your grade. He was not specific about the things he wanted you to study. If you take History 101 choose someone else!
His lectures are very interesting, but his tests are very difficult only because they cover a lot of material. He offers bonus quizzes to reward those who show up to class and actually pay attention. He is very passionate which accounts for a lot
Dr. Price is so, so awesome! I'd totally recommend to get him. He's clear and his lectures are interesting. If you don't like history (it's not my favorite) he's still easy to follow and keeps your attention. He has pop quizzes, but they're to help you points-wise on the tests. Love this guy. TAKE HIM!
Professor Price is very passionate about what he teaches and writes up his own notes and posts them online to use instead of the textbook. His quizzes cover part of what was discussed in the previous class and the assigned reading. If you go to class and take notes, you can pass his tests. Loved having him!
I sent him an email asking about the class and he was very belligerent and rude with his response. He is very selfish and inconsiderate of another persons feelings. I would advise you not to take him.
Very good professor. You have to work hard for an A!!! Final is hard to prepare for but if you read as you are supposed to.. youll pass!
If you dont enjoy lectures do not take price. Very lecture heavy BUT he randomly gives pop quizzes that cannot hurt you- they count as bonus points on your tests. Hes pretty easy
Very lecture heavy. Bonus points are a savior, but they are random. All test are online EXCEPT the final. Go to class and you should do decent. Go to class, AT LEAST skim his online lectures, and AT LEAST skim the book.
Graded by only four test . Usually have 50-85 questions. You must review material to get a good grade.
Took this class online . Only four test . No other grades . Test were 50-85 questions. About two and a half hours to take test . Easy class with quizlet .
Take him for online!!! Graded by four tests. Some of the questions are tricky. However, you should make no lower than a B.
Very good teacher
I took his 1/2 semester online course. There was zero homework. 3 tests and a final. 2 extra credit papers. There is online lecture videos but it is impractical to have enough time to watch them. The tests are hard. Do not assume you can find the answers online, because you cant most of the time. Papers were optional but his topics were difficult.
Do not take this class unless you are ready to read lectures outside of class. Always be present in class also because he does bonus point quizzes before each of the four tests.
Rude when responding to emails
The lectures are good, lot of information, but the test come from his articles on his other website, follow the secret link on the corner, he tells you about this on the first day.
At the end of virtual lectures he asks questions and you have an opportunity to get bonus points. All lectures are online and there is lecture notes he uploads that are extremely helpful.
We only had 4 exams worth 100 points each, not other assignments were given. The option to write a paper for extra credit was offered but the amount of research needed to do well on the paper far outweighed the benefit of writing the paper. The material on tests is in his lectures but you are basically left to teach yourself. TONS of reading!
Amazing class lay out and format. Would 100% recommend him for any one who wants an easy class or wants to take history online!
I enjoyed taking this class with professor Price. It is set up very nicely for an online class and it super easy if you just do what he tells you to do. If you watch the lectures and take notes you will do fine.
Professor Pric's online course was both easy and entertaining. I didn't have to really study all that much to get everything but I did anyway as his presentation of the subjects had me interest. Really lucky I got him
Dr. Price was great. I combined his lectures with kahn academy and youtube videos and did well. could have done better on my part but I also spent a lot of time on my other classes because this one didn't demand much. Four tests and the fourth one is the final. very straight forward. Each test is 50 questions I think. Derived evenly from the book.
only 4 exams. the tests were pretty easy, except the last one that was considered the final. THERE WERE SO MUCH NOTES.
