Professor is very nice and straightforward with assignments. There are 3 papers based on the readings you do for the semester. one thing though, attendance is mandatory. there are 6 excused absences that you can take throughout the semester, or else you lose your participation grade. aside from that, he offers extensions if needed

Taking Professor Vescovi for Sociology101 was a great introduction to the field of sociology. The lecture slides provided detailed but succinct overviews of the topics, and the supplementary readings or videos were really useful for further understanding. The only thing that might not be great for everyone is the heavily weighted Final Exam. :)

I took his online winter class and it was really easy. The powerpoints were clear and the discussion posts were easy.

Fast-paced, asynchronous winter course with a lot of reading. Chose engaging textbook and material that was genuinely enjoyable!

He is a great professor. All discussion posts were evenly spaced out, and he is so nice about deadlines. Also, he is a very lenient grader and creates great layouts for essays.

There is not much homework or reading, and the exam and response paper are also very simple. If you study hard, it is not difficult to get a 90 or above. The response paper is a 2-page double-spaced, and the instructions are very clear. You can clearly see all the instructions in the syllabus. I recommend taking his classes.

The professor is very accessible, when you email him he emails back fast and helps you out. The class as asynchronous, you just have to make sure to read the textbook and do your discussion posts and you should be good tbh.

Very simple course layout. Good amount of reading and lecture slides since its a winter class but the assignments are straightforward and fair. He was also willing to be generous with deadlines as long as you email him and he responded pretty quickly which is nice. Probably the best 101 class I've taken.

Professor Vescovi aims to teach sociological research, his teachings have changed my perspective in society overall. He explains his lessons in depth, provides readings and slideshows. He makes it very easy to understand the sociological concepts. He encourages participation and makes learning fun. I highly recommend him as your professor!

Overall he is a great professor, very nice, doesn't give lots of assignments other than 3 writing assignments and a "final". At first I though this would just be any other sociology class with papers but truly one of the best class and professor I have had! Not only does he makes sure the students understands the concepts and material but Prof. Ben also make its relatable to us. You should come prepared before every class just to give context on what he's going to talk about. He is phenomenal at breaking down hard concepts in a digestible way and will always be open if you communicate something that you don't understand about his content. I honestly didn't know what to expect for this class and was a little nervous, but the class turn out great the slides were clear and easy to understand and the professor was always available to speak with you and work with you. Although the readings are long they do help you understand the class. Overall would take again.

Best professor I've had here at Hunter College. There was no dull moment in his class; he makes sure everyone understands the material, and he cares about his students. The class requires lots of listening and half of the slides could be summed up through a brief summary by the professor if you take notes correctly without having to copy all of the words of the slides.

Professor Ben is a fantastic professor. If you need any form of support, he will always be willing to help. Attendance is required for the class, and points will be deducted if you do not attend. We had four reflection papers and a final essay, which were tedious, but not difficult to complete. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Lectures are super engaging. It isn't just reading off slides; he makes sure to explain things so that you truly understand the concepts. His personality is great. He is very critical of the world when he provides real world examples of concepts and pushes you to be critical as well. There's a lot of readings but most are interesting. I had fun!

This is a WI and a theory class so it is expected that there's lots of writing and reading. The prof is understanding on the deadlines of papers though and often gave extensions. We are graded on participation. He cold-called 3 times in total because he was aware that those people didn't participate at all throughout the semester.

The class was really interesting. There are a lot of readings which are provided for you. Some are quite long so read them before class. Don't be afraid to participate in class, share anything you found interesting or confusing and Prof. Ben will gladly talk about it. If you love hip-hop music, share that too because Prof. Ben loves that too.
